Welcome to our cozy, 1-bedroom, newly updated 700 sq ft coach house. Each room in the suite looks over lush garden and forest views. There is a large private patio with table and chairs overlooking the garden. Hardwood flooring throughout the suite, base heaters and electric fireplace warm the space immediately. Our large kitchen is fully stocked with all the dishes, utensils and appliances you could need and some basic spices, cooking oil and condiments. The full fridge and freezer is great to accomodate a full grocery shop and the breakfast bar is located beside the kitchen. The bedroom has a queen sized bed and 3 dressers for storage, while the designer futon in the living area can sleep 2 extra guests. A 4-piece bathroom with soaker tub is a nice treat as well as child friendly amenities available by request. Most importantly our own loving touch and local art has been added to this very special space.

It has a SONOS music system and the best way to access it is to download the Sonos2 App, onto your phone, https://www.sonos.com/en-ca/controller-app. There are two Sonos speakers, one in the bedroom and one in the living room that the Sonos app is configured with so you can connect directly to Spotify giving you an abundance of music choices.

Other music options: in the bedroom there is a Bose system, the on/off switch is on the back of the woofer on the right side night table, and the control for plugging in and volume control is also on the right side night table. In the living room, the big speaker in the corner is blue tooth friendly as well as can be run via a patch cord to your phone.

It has a wood burning stove to create that cozy ambiance, luring you into opening up your favourite book, while cuddled up in an authentic Alpacha blanket. It's the perfect moment to unwind.

If you're interested in doing some exploring or other adventures, there is fantastic mountain biking in Cumberland, plus it’s a pretty cool little town to explore with a few cottage brewerys and interesting restaurants too. If you want to try out kite surfing or wind surfing, Goose Spit gets some amazing winds - you might even see some kite surfers here at Kye Bay too when the wind comes up. There's also an Airforce Museum that you can explore. If you heart is into cross country, snow shoeing or downhill skiing check out Mtn Washington about 40 minutes away – it gets more snow than the mountains on the mainland generally.

Its two-level, post and beam design with natural cedar ceilings creates a warm ambiance for everyone. On the main floor, expansive picture windows provide panoramic views of the Salish Sea, numerous islands, and the magnificent snow-capped mountain ranges of both Vancouver Island and the mainland.
Gather around the island in the large, well equipped kitchen with adjacent deck and BBQ.
Catch the sunrise while sipping your morning coffee on the front east facing deck overlooking the sandy beach below, and delight in the abundant marine life: eagles, herons, sea lions, otters, seals, or the occasional pod of orcas or humpbacks.
From the deck, follow the private path that very gently winds to the secluded sandy beach where one can walk for miles or explore the tidal pools. The trail takes two minutes down to the beach and three minutes back up to the deck.
For the swimmer, in the summer, the water is warm, especially when the high tide comes in over the hot sand during the day. It's considered one of the best beaches in the Comox Valley, and since the public access is a fairly long walk away, it's very secluded and very safe for children. Also very close (about 3 min by car) is Kye Bay Beach, a popular beach, well known for its sandy tidal flats.
Relax with a good book in the shade of the fruit trees in the orchard, or get some exercise playing bocce or croquet (sets provided) in our private back yard bordered by tall rhododendrons, and often frequented by deer and the odd bunny rabbit.
Enjoy the evening sunset over Mt. Washington (watch it from the sunset deck off the Master bedroom), then return to the ocean deck for the moon rise over the water as the cruise ships bound for Alaska go by.
We book Saturday to Saturday and accept a variety of payment options. You can fly directly to Comox and rent a car at the airport, or fly to Vancouver, take the ferry to Departure Bay or Duke Point, Nanaimo and drive to Comox (approx. 1.5 hrs by car) Please email us for more information. Our location within the Comox Valley offers world-class golf courses close by, extensive cycling and hiking trails, watersports, horseback riding, and winter mountain sports on Mt. Washington (approximately 35 minutes away). We are also only minutes from the Comox Airport and offer free pick-up and drop off for your convenience.

The suite has 8 foot ceilings and is open and inviting. It includes washer and dryer, gas stove, dedicated WiFi, CD player, full size futon sofa bed, and a cozy gas fireplace, as well as your own barbeque and portable fire pit in your own private courtyard. This two-bedroom suite offers queen-sized beds in each room and is suitable for one to five people. The master bedroom has a beautiful handcrafted wood bed frame and brand new top-of-the-line latex foam mattress. The quilts are new organic cotton, and there is ample bedding. Each room can be heated separately. The suite has unique lighting that offers dimmable options for setting a more relaxed or romantic mood. Beach access to Comox Bay is just 100 steps away. This walk on beach is perfect for exploring tidal flats or exercising your dog. The beach connects to a network of greenway parks and forested trails that will satisfy the most serious of walkers, or walk along the beach to historic Filberg Lodge or on to pubs, shopping and services in downtown Comox.

A short 10 minute walk through forested trails (or three minute drive) brings you to Goose Spit Park, featuring miles of beach for walking, swimming, sandcastle building, kayaking, canoeing and standup paddle boarding. Bring your picnic and enjoy one of the many bbq firepits (wood provided).

Comox Valley summer highlights include the annual Filberg Festival (a mecca for arts and crafts lovers). Nautical Days for family fun, Vancouver Island Musicfest and Comox Airshow (Aug 15).

A Napoleon gas fireplace along with a heat pump heats the entire space during the colder months and air conditioning, along with ocean breezes, will keep you comfortable during the hot days of summer.

Beach access is available simply by walking down the right-hand side of the house while facing the ocean. There are a few stepping stones through the flower garden then a cement boat ramp leads to the beach. On the beach there are two Adirondack chairs year-round and a beach umbrella during the summer months.

PLEASE NOTE .... there are 16, somewhat steep, open-tread stairs into the suite. If mobility is an issue, our carriage house will unfortunately not work for you.

Great angles impress with the Gambrel roof architecture. There is a luxury bed with buttery sheets and black out blinds in the master bedroom. This project was a great vision for us and we invite you to come and feel the 'wood hug' of this great little cabin!

We offer your stay at our coach house style home, situated bank side on a quiet lane, across from a parklet beach access on lower Kye Bay Road. Enjoy the seasonal views of Mother Nature‘s bounty of wildlife and all beach activities. We are close to CFB Comox, airport, Mt. Washington, all amenities and recreation options in the Comox Valley. We love pets, but this is a pet free rental please.

Take advantage while we are away…escape to the beach and enjoy your stay in our open concept 1 bedroom home. The property is shared with the original cabin, that grew over the years, now called Kye Bay Cottage where we generationally reside with the Nest. The Nest is a versatile family home for a getaway ideally for 1 person, or a couple. But visitors have shared to is also perfect couple to accommodate a family with the additional sleeping.

The couch converts to a mattress quality twin bed and the settee converts to a mattress quality single bed, both in the living room. If needed, squeeze another in with a single mattress on the floor. Please keep in mind that this will make the 700 sq/ft space full.

This property provides a covered sitting area and outdoor seating options with the vast beach that is steps away. Enjoy all the modern conveniences of our home with a split head, queen electric bed (to enjoy the view while sipping your morning coffee in bed), dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, counter cooktop, microwave, TV and wifi. Please note the wifi can be unpredictably impacted by increased air activity at CFB Comox.

The generous sized bathroom has heated tile floors, full shower with bathtub, and bidet toilet. Private entrance and yard - foot bath at staircase necessary to maintain the clean space - no sand below the stairs please. Checkin 4 pm and checkout 10 am. Minimal 2 night stay.
