Tanglewood is a community of privately owned units adjacent to Rathtrevor Provincial Park and we are 1 minute or 2 of walking distance to the beach access to the famous Rathtrevor Beach. The best part is that you will have this great view right from your home away from home! Sit back, chill and enjoy the view!

The view: We are positive that you will fall in love with our home. And not only that…you will wake up to this gorgeous view right from the Master bedroom on our king sized bed. The master bedroom also has direct access to the deck for you to enjoy the serenity and the breathtaking view of the beach with the beautiful Arbutus tree from a distance on your left overlooking the beach. Sip your coffee in the morning to this soothing view.

The space: We have repainted the entire place to soothing Benjamin Moore colors. This is a 2 br 2 bath apartment of about 1100 sq ft. for your enjoyment.

The deck: BBQ grill with 2 lounge chairs as you soak in the view from a quiet distance awaits you.

Gourmet kitchen: It has been updated to white quartz countertop on the perimeter and quartz backsplash for a refreshing white kitchen look! In contrast, the kitchen's island is in beautiful black granite giving the entire kitchen a modern yet coastal feel. Stainless Steel appliances and with everything you could possibly need from coffee maker, toaster, waffle maker, blender,. Fridge, gas range, microwave and dishwasher for your convenience.

If you don't like the morning light to wake you up (some people love it and some don't), please bring sleeping eye masks with you. We have blinds in the entire place even for the very top ones.

Bathrooms: The ensuite is a 5 piece bathroom with a soaker tub and a glass door shower on the other side. The 2nd bathroom has glass door shower. Heated floors for your comfort for both bathrooms. White soft and fluffy bath towels as well as big beach towels are also provided. Dryer, hand soap, tissue and toilet paper are available for you.

Road to your Oasis: It takes a ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay, West Van to Departure Bay in Nanaimo to get here. The BC ferry ride usually takes a short hour and 40 minutes. Then about 25 minute drive from Departure Bay to Tanglewood.

If you are coming from Vancouver downtown, the drive to Horseshoe Bay could take about 30-40 minutes. Give yourself ample time for the ferry. I strongly suggest for you to book reservations so you don't have to line up for the ferry. All you need is to make sure to be there at the latest 30 minutes prior to sailing time. If you're flying in from Comox airport, you can rent a car from there and be in Parksville withkn 45 minutes.

The beach: Rathtrevor is about 2 km of beach walk and you'll see Rathtrevor Provincial Park on your left. Low tide happens quite often so your walk could be as long as you feel like it.

What else : ) Toys and game boards are available as well as 2 smart TVs! Wifi available. Well we're hoping that you will be spending more time bonding with each other than being glued to those electronic gadgets that some of us can't live without. : ) Guilty one here too!

Beach access: As the road starts to slope down from where the 2 storey building is, you will be walking past a few townhouses and the access would be on your far right. It usually takes a minute or two. No public access to this.

Other things to note:

We charge an extra $25/person/night after 4 registered guests including kids from 1 yr old and up to a maximum of 6 guests only including kids 1 and up.

We request that you load the dishes, pots and pans and please make sure the dishwasher is running before you leave. This will really help the cleaners to stay on time for our next guests.

Our cottage can be your home away from home with top end appliances, quartz countertops and full amenities. There are 2 bedrooms and a loft with a pullout couch. You can comfortably sleep 6 people. The master suite has a luxurious king size bed. The great room has lots of space to relax and has a mounted flat screen smart TV. Our guests have thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the large back deck, enjoying a moment of peace on the comfy garden swing, The loft is a versatile space to relax, sleep and also hosts is a second big screen TV. Our cottage is also fully equipped with all the amenities such as built in air-conditioning, laundry, and glassed in shower. The cottage backs onto the Grotto for the Tigh Na Mara Resort.

Our cottage is approximately an 8 minute walk from Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park entrance. The park has endless beaches that are great for young children with long stretches of sand and numerous trails to hike on. There is a large children’s play area at Rathtrevor Beach and they often run activities during the summer season. For the adults in the group we have two spas within walking distance. Tranquil Day Spa is a part of the Oceanside Village Resort and next door to our resort is the Grotto Spa at Tigh Na Mara. We have included links below for your convenience of booking any spa treatments while you are staying.

There are many sites near this cottage that make this area the most desirable place in the center island to stay. The complex has a great bistro restaurant as well as a hair salon, and spa. Amenities include an indoor heated pool and hot tub right at the resort for your own use. There are also gym facilities in the same building as the pool and hot tub.

We are a pet friendly cottage since we have dogs in our lives as well. We simply ask that you take care of tiding up after you pet and do have supplies here for that purpose.

Our beach home is a private, updated property siding onto Rathtrevor Provincial Park with a great unobstructed view of the beach. We are just steps to the beach and Rathtrevor. The condo is on the 2nd floor of a beach level 4-plex ... step out our front door and you are less than 100 feet to the beach and the park.

The unit is over 1,100 square feet with 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. It is equipped with in-suite washer and dryer and sleeps 4 people. There are 2 decks and a barbeque. The unit has been substantially updated in 2006. This includes new appliances and new hardwood floors, carpeting, and tiles throughout. The bathrooms are modern and updated. Each of the 2 bedrooms has a television and there is a high quality television with DVD player and stereo in the living room.

The main floor has a large picture window with a wonderful view of the beach. Great for when you just want to sit back and enjoy the view from the comfort of your living room. The main floor and top floor both have sunny outside balconies. Both balconies have great views of the beach and Rathtrevor. The tide goes out almost the full depth of the bay and provides a great playground for kids, young and old, and a great place for anyone to roam around and enjoy the local scenery. After dinner, don�t forget to head back to the beach and enjoy some toasted marshmallows at the beachfront fire pits.

When you need another diversion, for little kids and big kids alike, there are 2 great themed mini-golf courses just up the road and a water park in Parksville. For the really big kids, the Parksville area is known for its impressive golf courses. The area also has hiking and mountain bike trails. And don�t miss the well renowned Market at Coombs.

Heated floors for your comfort for both bathrooms. White soft and fluffy bath towels as well as big beach towels are also provided. For families with toddlers: We have Graco play pen and a perch type of high chair you can attach to the island countertop for your convenience. Gated stairwell as well for security and peace of mind. Plastic plates, cups, spoons and forks are also available for your use during your stay.

Business: For those of you needing a work desk/laptop desk, we have one in the 2nd bedroom as well as an all in one printer, scanner, copier for your use. This is stored in the main closet clearly marked for you.

The beach: Rathtrevor is about 2 km of beach walk and you'll see Rathtrevor Provincial Park on your left. Low tide happens quite often so your walk could be as long as you feel like it.

Beach toys: Of course with 2 boogie boards, beach chairs and a beach wagon to accommodate your beach stuff as well as a cooler.

Parking: 1 parking right in front of the apartment. Guest parking available just across from the owners' parking stalls. We are the last unit on the far right. Lit up stairs and walkways.

Beach access: As the road starts to slope down from where the 2 storey building is, you will be walking past a few townhouses and the access would be on your far right. It usually takes a minute or two. No public access to this.

We request that you load the dishes, pots and pans and please make sure the dishwasher is running before you leave. This will really help the cleaners to stay on time for our next guests.

The open concept main floor living room has a sofa bed that will sleep 2, a 50 inch TV and a cozy fireplace. We have provided an assortment of games, cards and puzzles for guest enjoyment. The dining area has a table with 4 chairs and an eating bar with 2 chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials you will need during your stay including stainless steel appliances, granite countertop with an eating bar for casual dining/entertaining, there is a dedicated workspace with a desk, a half bathroom and in suite laundry on the main floor.

The balcony, located off the living room has a barbecue with table and 4 chairs perfect to relax and enjoy a nice meal and take in the beauty of the natural surroundings the resort has to offer.

The townhome has an energy efficient heat pump to keep the temperature regulated for our guest stay all year long.

Upstairs the primary suite has a king size bed, dresser, closet and TV with peek a boo ocean view and an ensuite with soaker tub shower combination. The guest suite has a queen size bed, dresser, closet and TV with a shower in the ensuite.

Resort amenities include: A seasonal heated outdoor pool, all season hot tub, fitness facilities, a wood burning firepit area (subject to BC fire ban restrictions) and mountain bike rentals so you can explore the many trails that surround the resort/ Parksville area.

The private resort beach access is just a short walk from the townhome down a winding natural walking path on the scenic edge of Craig Bay. Please note it is only accessible during low tide. The final step to the beach is steep and rocky but well worth the walk as the beach area offers breathtaking views with miles of sand and tide pools to explore all day.

To make your beach experience more enjoyable we have included in the suite 4 beach chairs, a cooler, sand toys along with a sun shade and wagon.

There are several places to visit during your stay that are along Resort Drive close to the resort:
1)The popular Rathtrevor Provincial park and beach is a 3 minute drive from the resort. Take a walk through the majestic old growth forest and during low tide you can walk for miles on the sandy beach checking out the many tide pools with sea life and sea shells and you may even find a sand dollar.
2) Spoil your self at the Grotto Spa at Tigh-Na-Mara. Try the dip and dine it is 2 resorts over and a 5 minute walk from Sunrise Ridge.
3) For some family fun and entertainment visit Riptide Lagoon Mini Golf to see who can get a hole in one. It’s a couple minutes drive down the road from the resort. 4)The Parksville Community park is 10 minutes away and is home to the yearly sand sculpting event in July/August and has miles of sandy beaches including a large adventure playground and water park. It is the best place to watch spectacular sunsets.
5)A 20 minute drive from the resort will bring you to popular Coombs Country Market with world famous goats on the roof is a unique shopping experience with groceries, in store bakery, deli, gifts and cafe. There are several other shops to visit on site and the restaurant Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria is a favourite spot to dine.
6)Visit the Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park it is 35 minutes from Parksville and offers guided tours of the caves.
7)Mount Washington ski resort and summer biking trails is only an hour drive from the resort.

- "Although Sunrise Ridge is still under construction, the Sandcastle Shores Townhouse was quiet and very well appointed. The four girls ranging in age from 8 years to 14 years loved sharing 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and I (the doting grandmother) loved my privacy downstairs on the pull out couch, with another bathroom and nice patio to sit out on at night. The kitchen has every possible appliance, cooking tools, and dishes. Nice dining room table that seats 6 people easily. The highlight for me was the easy access to the trail to the beach with beautiful moon-rises each night and a full rainbow the one rainy day. The highlight for the grand-daughters was the fitness centre and the hot tub. Each day we enjoyed a few different beaches, parks, forests, and other places in the Parksville/Qualicum area. - "The cottage was perfect. Had everything that our family needed. I appreciated all of the kitchen utensils, pots & pans etc., and any cleaning supply you would need including pods for the dishwasher and powder for the washer. Bathrooms were well stocked with extra large & soft bath towels as well as plenty of beach towels. Bathroom also had shampoo, conditioner, body lotion & hand soap. It was extremely clean. There were chairs to take to the beach and beach toys. I can't think of anything else that we could have needed. Judy was an excellent host. She checked in with us on the first day to see if we needed anything and said we could reach her anytime if we did. AC would have been nice as the loft bedroom gets very hot. There were fans in both bedrooms. The indoor pool at the resort was great and my grandson loved it. The only thing missing at the resort is a children's playground but we spent lots of time doing other things in Parksville. We had a fantastic week and would definitely go back."

We have furnished our townhome with our guests in mind, thoughtfully appointed with everything you need and more to ensure you have a comfortable, relaxing stay with us.

The kitchen is equipped with all the necessities; Keurig combination pod/pot coffee maker, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, dinner and glassware, baking/serving dishes, as well as many extras including a Ninja blender, Champion juicer and Crock Pot. The adjacent dining area features a beautiful live edge table that can accommodate seating for 6.

The living room boasts a beautiful electric fireplace for some cozy nights in, with a 55" smart TV offering full cable and Disney+ and a comfortable sofa (which also converts to a bed) and chair. For those of you who need to keep up with work while you are away, we have a dedicated desk/office space as well as wireless high speed internet. We also have a variety of board games, chess/checkers, cribbage and cards available for use during your stay.

Upstairs you will find an impressive main guest room with a 14' vaulted ceiling and two expansive windows to let in lots of natural light. This bedroom has a king size bed, large double closet and 42" smart TV. The ensuite features a bathtub/shower combo with rainfall showerhead and soaker tub, double sinks, plenty of counter space and bench.

- "My family and I, who have two young children, have been visiting Parksville for years. We have always been looking for a great, family location to stay. For the past several years, we have stayed at Sunrise Ridge. The properties are good, but only a few have air conditioning, which is important especially during the summer. Additionally, we are always looking for a location with two bedrooms and at least two bathrooms. This was our first time staying at this location, and it was great! It is newly built with central air conditioning. Additionally, he has a full kitchen. Furthermore, it has two levels, which is great, as I often wake up early and I don't want to disturb my family. The owner was quick to respond to inquiries, and was extremely friendly and pleasant. My family and I will definitely considering this location again the next time we visit Parksville!"

If you feel like tucking in for the evening, the Main Bedroom also features a 42" television.

The vaulted ceilings and windows offer beautiful views of the Fir, Cedar and Arbutus forest just outside the doors. Double French doors open onto the patio and the majestic old growth forest of Rathtrevor Provincial Park.

A five minute stroll takes you down to the world renowned Rathtrevor beach. The water is calm and the sea shells plentiful along this sandy beach. The neighbourhood of Tanglewood runs along side Rathtrevor Provincial Park where you'll find walking and running trails throughout the old growth forest.

During the day build sand castles, hunt for seashells, fly a kite and roast marshmallows over an open fire on the beach. When the tide rolls in over the sun-baked sand, the warmed water is unbeatable for swimming and saltwater fun. Beach toys, cooler, wagon and beach towels are all provided for days full of exploring on the beach. There is no age restriction for the fun you can have on the beach.

I was there with my family and we really enjoyed it. The stairs may be an issue for very young children or people with knee issues as both bedrooms are upstairs, but this was not an issue for us. The online listing could be updated - construction is now complete for the units across the street so there was no construction noise and photos could be updated. The unit was very quiet and the grounds of the resort were very well maintained. We enjoyed our stay very much and look forward to returning. Thank you karen for being a wonderful host!"
