Built almost 700 feet up with panoramic views of mountains and Lake Quamichan, this very private walk out ground level space with a private entrance has one or two bedrooms available. Please note the second bedroom is an additional cost of $100 per night. (Note: if you require only one bedroom, the second one will not be rented to anyone else during your stay). Located in the lower level of our new custom home, the full above ground walk out has scenic views and breathtaking sunsets.

When you arrive you will be greeted with a bottle of wine, a loaf of fresh baked bread and home made preserves from local picked fruit.

The nightly rate is for one bedroom and two people. If you wish to book the second room, there is an additional $100 fee per night. We have a maximum capacity of four adults per night. Property is not suitable for young children or pets.

During the last two years, there has been a new subdivision being built in the many acres of land behind our home. Our worry free luxury cottage is our second dwelling on our main resident property and therefore is risk free of unexpected cancellations.
Here at the Sailors’ Rest our goal is to give our guests an experience to remember and tell their friends. This project and final product is a culmination of the artistic designs of one of the hosts that took a 2-car unfinished garage and repurposed it into what you see, using the Naval decor from your other host’s personal and family history of their father and his own service as Commanders in the Royal Canadian Navy. You will see various paraphernalia, pictures of Naval tradition and history throughout. While you are here don’t forget to sign the log book and tell us about your stay.

As our pampered guest you will have the luxury of being in your own private space, well equipped to fully enjoy your island getaway, private event, or celebration. The Sailors’ Rest is fitted with a nautical inspired fence, to give your crew and possibly furry friends, additional privacy. You will also have access to the gazebo and surrounding gardens and putting green through your garden gate. Please note that your furry companions will not have access to this shared space without you in attendance. We are not a waterfront or water-view property, though we are only a few minutes walk down to the ocean. We are also right next to an off-leash dog park, tennis courts (we have rackets and balls for you to use), pickle ball courts, and kids play area. If you are bringing your bikes or running shoes there are lots of trails to explore near by. We also offer a putting green for you to use if you are interested in hitting a few balls and practicing your swing.

We were able to cook some meals and enjoy some chilling out time on their cozy sofa. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets if needed. The kitchen was well equipped as was the bathroom. It was perfect for what we needed when visiting the Duncan area. It is a little far away from amenities and high on a hill. We will be back and probably look into renting it again. Thanks to the owners Mark and Maggie for welcoming us with a fresh baked loaf of bread! A nice touch!"

In the shadow of Mt. Tzouhalem the Salishan Chief Suite sits oceanside with spectacular views of Cowichan Bay.

This luxurious one bedroom suite was built to embrace the natural surroundings and the region's rich cultural and natural history.

When you first enter the property through the ornate salmon run metal gates, to the forest path and walkway stairs to the suite, the hillside suite prepares you for an incredible experience when you first open the suite doors.

Once entering the suite you will be amazed by the architecture and sweeping views from the windows of the main living room and open plan dining and European styled kitchenette space.

The large and spacious 1 bedroom suite is tastefully decorated with touches of indigenous artwork and a main balcony from the living room to step out and soak in the ambience of west coast living.

The large primary bedroom with queen sized bed has its own balcony with incredible views of Cowichan Bay.

Cable TV and WIFI included.

Salishan Chief Suite is an EV-charging-ready property! This property is equipped with an OK2Charge Level 2 Smart EV Charger. While you are enjoying your time in Duncan, you can rest assured that you will be able to charge your vehicle while you relax and enjoy the comforts of home. Once you arrive, scan the QR code on the charger, choose your payment method, and you are ready to charge! There is only one charger on the property on a first come first serve basis with the other suites. Please note Tesla drivers require a J1772 adaptor.

Kitchenette does not have a freezer but does have refrigeration drawers only.
No microwave included in the suites to preserve the look of the European styled kitchenette.
No in suite laundry, however, there is coin laundromats in Duncan which is less than 15 minutes away.
No beach or ocean access from the property due to the high bank nature of the location.
One parking stall per stay inside the gates.

- "This is a remarkably beautiful place. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The condo was gorgeously appointed with First Nation art and comfortable furniture. Good beds. Unfortunately it was 35 (95 F), and there was no AC. So that was rough, but probably unusual. If the weather is moderate to cold-it’s the most wonderful vacation home!" - "The place was awesome, the host communicated on how to enter in the property and everything worked out. When we came in everything was super organized and ready to use. Plenty of amenities and a great view to the water. The Kitchen is full of items and good to go.
