If water is not your thing, walk out the door and across the street to enjoy hiking or biking trails from beginner to expert level. We are surrounded by BC’s finest wineries, markets, live entertainment, shopping and a vast array of restaurants for every taste and budget. Built almost 700 feet up with panoramic views of mountains and Lake Quamichan, this very private walk out ground level space with a private entrance has one or two bedrooms available. Please note the second bedroom is an additional cost of $100 per night. (Note: if you require only one bedroom, the second one will not be rented to anyone else during your stay). Located in the lower level of our new custom home, the full above ground walk out has scenic views and breathtaking sunsets.

The large main bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and a television with Netflix, Prime, HBO, Crave and a cable package plus the most amazing morning views to wake up to. The second bedroom has a comfortable queen size pillow top bed with another amazing view and a walkout to the deck. Both bedrooms have large closets and plenty of storage in the form of cabinets and armoires. In this almost 900 SF suite there is a large private family room with comfortable leather recliner chairs, a leather recliner couch, a 46 inch TV with cable, Netflix, Prime, HBO, Crave and unlimited high speed internet access.
When you arrive you will be greeted with a bottle of wine, a loaf of fresh baked bread and home made preserves from local picked fruit.
The nightly rate is for one bedroom and two people. If you wish to book the second room, there is an additional $100 fee per night. We have a maximum capacity of four adults per night. Property is not suitable for young children or pets.
During the last two years, there has been a new subdivision being built in the many acres of land behind our home. There may be construction on these homes during your stay but they are respectful to work within normal work hours and trying to keep noise to a minimum.We look forward to having you visit us and stay in the place we love to call home.

Our worry free luxury cottage is our second dwelling on our main resident property and therefore is risk free of unexpected cancellations.
Here at the Sailors’ Rest our goal is to give our guests an experience to remember and tell their friends. This project and final product is a culmination of the artistic designs of one of the hosts that took a 2-car unfinished garage and repurposed it into what you see, using the Naval decor from your other host’s personal and family history of their father and his own service as Commanders in the Royal Canadian Navy. You will see various paraphernalia, pictures of Naval tradition and history throughout. While you are here don’t forget to sign the log book and tell us about your stay.
As our pampered guest you will have the luxury of being in your own private space, well equipped to fully enjoy your island getaway, private event, or celebration. The Sailors’ Rest is fitted with a nautical inspired fence, to give your crew and possibly furry friends, additional privacy. You will also have access to the gazebo and surrounding gardens and putting green through your garden gate. Please note that your furry companions will not have access to this shared space without you in attendance. If you are looking for someone to look after your furry friend for a period of your stay, we can connect you to our trusted pet sitting provider.
As your hosts, Mich and Michael, we are pleased to have you drop your anchor and spend some time sharing our little oasis. We are not a waterfront or water-view property, though we are only a few minutes walk down to the ocean. We are also right next to an off-leash dog park, tennis courts (we have rackets and balls for you to use), pickle ball courts, and kids play area. If you are bringing your bikes or running shoes there are lots of trails to explore near by. We also offer a putting green for you to use if you are interested in hitting a few balls and practicing your swing.

Art and Gardens:: ---Carolyn is a professional artist and you will enjoy her paintings in the studio loft and throughout the house. The gardens and grounds that surround the house will add to your outdoor pleasure and of course there is always the gentle lapping of waves on the beach.
We have several returning guests who enjoy 'Seagate' as their special vacation get-away and a great pleasure for us is making new friends through email and sometimes in person. Because of the care from past guests, we no longer ask for a damage deposit and we do not charge for cleaning. We regard our guests as 'family'. The entire house and grounds are yours to enjoy in privacy.
The Ocean: --We are located on a bay that is protected by Saltspring Island. Often there are canoe and sailboat races in the bay and during the summer we keep our own sailboat in front of the house. It is not unusual to see eagles, herons, and other birds. On several occasions, we have had orca whales in the bay and this spring, three humpback whales.
At night we often enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub overlooking the ocean. We are in a very safe, private, quiet location with no through traffic and yet close to Victoria and local shops. At night you will most likely only hear the soft sound of waves or the call of a loon.
Vineyards: --We are located in the prime wine producing area of Vancouver Island with many vineyards just a short drive away and one of the best is just a lovely 15-minute walk from the house. If you enjoy wine, try a tasting tour of the wineries. Information will be in the house. The quaint fishing village of Cowichan Bay is only a 10-minute drive away with what our guests describe as some of the best bread and ice cream available-- and of course, seafood. Great to stroll on the docks to inspect the boats!

Enjoy your stay in a lovely home overlooking Maple bay. HighView is surrounded by trees. Enjoy sipping your morning coffee from the balcony. Wildlife such as eagles and deer can be seen. A lovely swimming beach is nearby as well as marinas and eatery pubs. Shopping is in Duncan, a 10 minute drive away. There are many mountain biking and hiking trails, sailing, kayaking and whale watching tours nearby.

- "This stay was great from start to finish. The hosts were super helpful and welcoming. The whole property is amazing. The decor is an eclectic blend of collectibles from all over the world. The unit was clean, organized and well stocked. The beds were comfortable and there was a smart TV in both bedrooms and the living room, and bidets in both bathrooms. We had our own washer and dryer to use whenever we liked and the stove, oven, microwave and fridge were all clean and worked well. We didn't use the dry sauna but it was there if we wanted to. The hot tub was clean and the private deck has a fire table, BBQ and outdoor kitchen and overlooks the neighbour's pasture with beautiful views of deer and a horse. We had access to the huge back part of the property that was original forested land with trails that provided a place to take serene strolls and would be perfect for anyone who likes to meditate in nature. It was such a treat to hear the birds and see the squirrels around the unit. The hosts were always accessible and went out of their way to make sure every part of our stay was enjoyable. They are currently working on several projects around this huge property that are sure to make the setting even more beautiful in the future. This property and its hosts definitely earned the 5 star rating we gave it."

A fully stocked kitchen will allow you to create meals to be enjoyed on the beautiful deck on stilts over Cowichan bay or enjoy its famous restaurants, pub, ice cream store & an abundance of local shops are all within walking distance.
2 bedrooms flank the main living area giving guests the utmost in privacy. The 3rd bedroom is in a completely separate guest house accessed from either the front or back deck, w\private deck & second BBQ, The property has We have 3 security cameras, one mounted on the front of the house facing the dock, one mounted on the guesthouse facing the front door of the cottage and the final one mounted on a piling looking back at the house to watch the tidal changes. This last camera can be disabled during your stay. These cameras are used for security purposes only & do not impede on the enjoyment of private spaces in the home.

Welcome to The Calm Chaos Forest Cabin Glamping Space (Calm Chaos is a joke the former tech/city people that own and live on the property to match their personalities as they adjust to country living and the adventures that unfold here daily). We refer to this place as the Tardis (Dr Who fans know what we mean), because it looks so large on the inside.
Nestled on a once grand private estate in Maple Bay, BC, after about 30 years of neglect this property was purchased and its transformation begun. This amazing RV reno is close to the ocean with exclusive access to the property’s 5 acres complete with a pond, gazebo and an ancient forest. The property is totally exclusive and private access with an 8-foot fence and a medieval iron gate keeping the outside world out. You have access by remote or app only. ( You’ll be given temporary access during your stay).
The property is located next to some of Vancouver Island’s most spectacular mountain bike trails (the annual BC Bike Race route passes by the property). Centrally located makes for quick access to any adventure - from beautiful wine country to amazing scenery of the Cowichan Valley. There are so many things to do from food choices, shopping, exploring, hiking and breath taking super natural British Colombia. Maple Bay and Genoa Bay, plus other area in the Cowichan Valley. You can access the area fast by float plane (there are 4 scheduled daily flights from Vancouver – a quick 40 minute flight and the property is minutes from the float plane dock in Maple Bay marina. There is also BC Ferries for a more traditional method of transport, the Hulu fast ferry from downtown Vancouver or commercial airline.

You won’t want to leave this charming, one-of-a-kind walkout patio suite with ocean views.
Located in beautiful Cowichan Bay, this suite has its own entrance, bedroom, living room, bathroom. No kitchen, has a small fridge, hotplate, kettle, toaster, pot and dishes. The suite is not separate, but is joined by an open stairwell. Guests are not allowed upstairs to the owner's living area. A blow up mattress (surprisingly comfortable) is available on request for sleeping in the living room. Wonderfully cool. Walkout to a relaxing patio for your morning coffee. Access to the unit involves walking around the house from the driveway, downhill on the lawn to the patio entrance below. Not suitable for those with mobility issues. Wonderfully quiet yard for relaxing and enjoying the ocean breezes and views.

Located in Maple Bay within walking distance of the beach, tennis/pickleball courts, and local pub. You will sleep restfully in the king-size bed with down bedding; there is a second bedroom with two twin beds for those travelling with family or friends, and a pull out foam floor mattress for a fifth guest. Both rooms have light-filtering privacy blinds and black out curtains.
The full kitchen has everything you need, including condiments and breakfast items. There is a full sized BBQ on the private deck. Enjoy a hot rain shower before savouring your tea or Nespresso coffee on the balcony overlooking the Arbutus and Garry Oak forest.
Parking is free and safe, and the suite has a washer and dryer with laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. The bathroom has everything you need, including soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
A 10-minute walk will take you to the tennis and pickleball courts, and a 20-minute walk will take you to the ocean beach, where our local pub, The Lion Rampant, is conveniently located. Behind the property is a municipality-maintained hike that takes you to the top of Maple Mountain with views of Maple Bay and Salt Spring Island. A short drive will take you to the popular mountain bike trails on Maple Mountain (https://www.ridecowichan.com/maple).

Nice cool temperature was appreciated during the 4 days of heat wave the week we were there. Super hiking close by. We didn't want to leave and hope to come back soon."

Our comfortable one bedroom suite has everything you need to relax, and experience the beauty of vancouver island, with the ocean and a forest hike within walking distance. This is a family friendly space with televisions in the bedroom and living room, board games, bluetooth stereo and a dedicated work station. There are numerous wineries close by, noteably cherry point estates two minutes down the road. The suite does not share any of our indoor spaces, it is located on the first floor of our three floor home and includes dedicated laundry.

Enjoy a longer term stay; up to 6 months in this spacious 55+ strata unit at Rockwood Terrace in Maple Bay. The townhouse features 1 bedroom, 3 bathrooms, a formal living room, family room, fully equipped kitchen & a large bonus space on the lower level. Enjoy a 55-inch TV upstairs, 35-inch TV downstairs; both cable-connected. Located in a quiet Cowichan Valley neighbourhood, highlighting a nearby public indoor pool, community centre, library, shopping, restaurants, seaside villages and trails.
To align with the strata complex's rules, guests must be 55 years of age or older. Additionally, no pets or children are permitted to reside at the townhouse. Family and friends, including children are allowed to visit during your stay.
This is the last townhouse in the complex so there are no neighbours on the left hand side. The property surrounding the townhouse feature a perfectly manicured garden with green space on the left side. There is designated parking in the driveway that offers 2 parking spots. There is a private entrance to the front door.

The family room & formal living room feature a double sided gas fire place. Just off the kitchen is a small deck with a BBQ and bistro table set. Enjoy mountain views and sunsets.
The coffee machine is a 12 cup brew with carafe. There is also a coffee grinder. Please bring your favourite coffee to enjoy during your stay.
The lower level of the townhouse includes a large family room with a TV room that offers a queen pull out sofa. Please note the stairs leading to the lower level may not be suitable for guests with mobility restrictions. However, everything you need is located on the main level.

A pretty seaside community located in a narrow inlet and surrounded by smooth, pebbled beaches, Maple Bay is one of the finest natural harbours on the West Coast of British Columbia, and bustles with marine activity all year round.
The sheltered haven of Maple Bay is situated halfway up Sansum Narrows, and separates Vancouver Island from Saltspring Island, the largest and nearest of the southern Gulf Islands.

The bank path along the fence line can become slippery and is used primarily by the landscaper. Due to safety risks, please do not walk in this area.
The thermostat is located on the hallway wall just outside the kitchen.
There are two stand-up fans.
The barbeque on the upper deck is natural gas operated with the gas hook up on the wall. The barbeque is easy to use and has an infrared feature for the rotisserie. Tools are in the barbecue.

The space
Walking distance to the village of Cowichan Bay and numerous trails down to the ocean and marina. 10 minutes to Duncan, cobble hill, mill bay and 45 minutes to Victoria and an hour to Nanaimo. Amazing local restaurants, wineries, markets, gift shops only minutes from our place. To numerous to list!
Stays longer than 8 nights may be subject to extra cleaning fees/week. We like to keep on top of the cleaning so for each week over and above 8 nights an additional $35 will apply.
Many guests that stay with me are attending weddings at one of the many wineries in the Cowichan Valley! I can offer taxi services $20 one way to venues within the Valley if I am available.
We are within 15 minutes of both Brentwood School in Mill Bay and Shawnigan Lake School.
Do not reserve if you have a pet, it must be approved prior to making a reservation. Pet fee is the equivalent of an extra person on the booking to make up for the extra cleaning involved. Pets can never be left unattended or you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund. Dogs must be walked on the road and cleaned up after.
Please note that there is no access to playground equipment or other children's items in the yard.

Take a break to unwind in beautiful Cowichan Bay on Vancouver Island - about a 40 minute drive from Victoria BC. Our renovated (in June 2023) suite is at the end of a no-through road and is only a 5-10 minute walk into the village to a fabulous, organic craft bakery, artisan shops, restaurants, a museum, a pub, a small grocery/liquor store and a popular ice cream/candy store. (Seasonal) kayak/paddle-board rentals & whale watching excursions for hire. Cowichan District Hospital 15 min drive.
The space
Our property is tucked in at the end of a no-through road so is very quiet and tranquil. In our suite there is a full kitchen (stove, oven, fridge, microwave), equipped with dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, mugs, glasses, pots, frying pans, linens, pillows, bath towels, beach towels and a private washer/dryer. You will find a cozy couch area for reading or watching TV, with games and books for your use. On the stools at the live edge counter you can relax and enjoy the view of boats in the bay, our 3 local little tug boats coming and going, as well as the herons and the occasional eagle flying by. There is a private back garden area for you to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening beverage, as well as two adirondack chairs on the front lawn specifically for your use where you can take in the bay views. To any of our Dutch visitors, our suite is a "gezellige"! The town of Duncan is about a 5-8 minute drive away and the Cowichan District Hospital a 15 minute drive.

The suite is located on the upper level of our coach house, which is next to but separate from the main house in which we live. Entry to the suite is with a key in the lock box, which we will advise you of the code at least 24 hours prior to your arrival. We do respect your privacy, however, if you have any questions either before or during your stay, we are here to help and more than happy to assist. We want you to have a comfortable and relaxing stay. Both of us grew up in the Cowichan Valley, so we know it well and want to help you make lasting memories of this beautiful area.

The trailer itself has a modern, yet retro vibe with features of our west coast. With window views of the Pacific Ocean, Mount Zhouhelem (Vancouver Island), and Saltspring Island, it's a quaint, semi-private retreat. You will experience quiet evenings, dark skies, and stars on clear nights, and have great sleep with 3 comfortable beds with the highest quality memory foam.
There are several additional special touches to make your stay romantic, rejuvenating, and fun! Just outside your door, you have your own propane fire pit and chairs under the cover of the awning. Upon request, you may have access to enjoy the cottage's back deck space with BBQ, wood fire pit, propane firepit, and chairs. This is pending availability; hence the trailer is semi-private.

A quiet oasis for longer stays in the waterfront village of Cowichan Bay. Just steps away from restaurants, artisan shops, a pub, an ice cream store and an organic craft bakery.
The Cowichan Valley offers watersports, golf, wineries and cideries, organic farms and craft breweries. Duncan (10 mins away) has all the practical resources you need for a longer stay, including a hospital and pharmacies, and large grocery, hardware and office supply stores. Victoria and Nanaimo are 45-50 mins away.
The space
The suite is on the ground floor of our home, and is about 460 sq ft. It is furnished for longer stays: queen bed in the bedroom; washer, dryer, vacuum cleaner, broom, etc. in the utility closet; high speed WiFi; and a 55" smart TV in the living room so you can access all your streaming services.
The kitchen is fully equipped: fridge with pull-out freezer drawer; range; microwave; toaster; hot water kettle; and drip and French press coffee makers. It's also got all the pots, pans and implements you need to make great meals! You can eat and work at the large peninsula in the kitchen, which is equipped with 3 high-backed, upholstered stools.
The suite has three large closets (entrance, living room and bedroom) for storage. There are also two portable, quiet and efficient window fans.
We provide seasonal bed linens (cotton and flannel); seasonal duvets (summer and winter weight) and extra blankets. A twin air mattress is available if you have the occasional overnight guest.

The suite has a private entrance lit at night by motion-sensitive lights. The door has a keypad lock for easy access.
The guest parking pad can accommodate up to a mid-sized car. If you have a larger vehicle, please let us know. There is a level 1 EV charger installed at the side of the parking pad. Guests with Teslas have been able to keep their vehicles fully charged for 2-3 month stays.
The suite is single level inside, but not handi-accessible: there are 2 steps up to the doorway.

There are two small/medium sized dogs on the property. They are never allowed in the suite and when outside they are restricted to the fully enclosed backyard.

Come stay in Cowichan Bay a block above the village with great food, whale watching, kayaking and shopping. Enjoy a comfortable, recently renovated suite. Look at the ocean when cooking in the full kitchen. A private entrance, parking for three. Washer dryer in the bathroom. One bedroom with a double bed and a pullout queen bed in the living room so four plus a little one on the daybed can comfortably fit. Tucked at the end of a shared driveway, the house is quiet with beautiful nature.
The space
What I love about the property is that you can walk into the village in three minutes, yet we live on close to a half acre.
You can see the ocean and mountains from the suite plus are surrounded by flowers and trees. We are lucky to have a number of ancient Doug Firs on the property which are quite rare and special. The smell of woods and ocean is relaxing, reminding of summers well spent and cozy winters with the rain falling.
The suite is newly renovated with new appliances. It is very spacious with high ceilings. There is radiant heat so it is all encompassing warmth in winter. We are tucked on the end of a shared driveway, so very quiet. There are resident quail and hummingbirds.
A special new thing is the staircase at the end of Pritchard Road which winds down through a heron nesting area. Take a left at the end of the driveway and keep going until you hear and see the herons doing their thing. They ask for people to be quiet, given the Pacific Herons are endangered and this is one of the biggest nesting areas on Vancouver Island. You can do a nice loop from Pritchard, down the stairs, through the village and back up.

You will have access to the whole suite and patio outside of the suite where the BBQ is. It has a private entrance with a lock code that is set for each guest.
There is an office beside the suite which is not in use when we have guests. Otherwise, nothing but the suite on the lower level of the house. My kids and I live upstairs but they are mostly out and about and we live a quiet life otherwise. Guests have commented it is quiet here and they sleep well so hope that is the case for you too!

Our comfortable one bedroom suite has everything you need to relax, and experience the beauty of vancouver island, with the ocean and a forest hike within walking distance. This is a family friendly space with televisions in the bedroom and living room, board games, bluetooth stereo and a dedicated work station. There are numerous wineries close by, noteably cherry point estates two minutes down the road. The suite does not share any of our spaces and includes dedicated laundry.

The suite occupies the first level of the home, we are on the third level. There are no shared spaces in the home, and the yard including the fire pit are always available for your use. There is a private patio for the suite which includes a BBQ, table and chairs.

The area hosts a plethora of bird life from hummingbirds, kingfishers, woodpeckers, herons, eagles and trumpeter swans to name a few!
The space
The house is surrounded by big leaf maples, cedars, sequoia, fir and palm trees, and has a seasonal herb garden that guests are welcome to use, right next to the barbecue on the waterside deck.
If you watch the tide, paddle boarding can be done to explore the estuary right from the beach, bigger boats have access to a boat launch less than a kilometre toward Cowichan Bay.

The guests are welcome to the entire beach to the left of the base of the stairs, as the tiny bridge and beach cabin are occupied by the owner and are off limits.
The hot tub is located half way down the stairs to the beach, and guests have full private use of it (Only guests use the Hot tub) , but the stairs are shared to access the private beach cabin.
Parking for shipwreck cove is in the immediate driveway next to the house, next to the antique street light.
The driveway access on the cow bay side is for the beach cabin.
Other things to note
I’d suggest backing into the driveway, it’s easier to get back onto the road!
Also,
garbage and recycling must be separated, soft plastic belongs in the garbage, there’s notes on the cans and a guide on the cork board.
Pets are welcome but must be registered, and a pet deposit is necessary to cover extra cleaning or damages .

The quaint village of Cowichan Bay is a short walk down the hill, offering artisan shops, fresh baked goods and a variety of excellent restaurants. Hiking, biking, water activities, golf, vineyards and local farms are all at your doorstep. Cowichan Bay is part of the South Island Rotary Bike Route!

The house has been craftily designed around the stunning views of the Bay. The patio is furnished to let you relax and enjoy the breathtaking views. Who doesn't love to cook with a view? Enjoy cooking and baking in a spacious, fully equipped kitchen with a view. Entertain yourself in the living room with a TV equipped with Netflix or shelves full of games and books ready to be devoured. The dining space is equipped with fun lighting and also has a breathtaking view of The Bay. You'll find two bedrooms on the main floor, each with a luxurious queen bed, and a spacious loft upstairs with two twin beds and a play nook for little ones. We are a peaceful neighbourhood and welcome considerate quests. We ask noise to be kept to a minimum after 10 PM.

There is easily enough parking for 2 vehicles at the front gate and additional parking in the cul de sac. A short 5-10 minute walk will get you to the Cowichan Bay Village for shopping and eats. The area boasts scenic winding country roads, a variety of local farms and vineyards, hikes, bike trails, water activities (kayak tours, whale watching). Public transit is available in our village.

The rental is the entire main floor, deck and upstairs of the house and laundry is available in the basement. There is also a small suite in the basement that has a quiet solo tenant that would not interrupt or impact your stay

The French doors lead out to a covered patio, where you can enjoy the outdoors while still being protected from the elements. The patio features a gas BBQ and a lounging area, perfect for outdoor grilling and enjoying the beautiful weather. The space
Clean, modern, and spaciously laid out over two floors of gorgeous arbutus floors. The primary room upstairs is spacious, with triple aspect windows and a balcony to enjoy your morning beverage and watch the sunrise. The primary bath has a stand alone shower, double sinks and a gorgeous deep bathtub.
The upstairs den includes a workspace, daybed single that becomes a king bed, and a sitting area with TV.
The downstairs has a half bathroom and open plan, kitchen, dining a breakfast bar island, dining space for 6, a cozy reading nook and living room with games, books to enjoy (but not take!) and a 60" TV.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed and an attached bathroom with a tub shower combination.
The laundry and utility room connect you to an additional entrance and short cut to the hot tub, one of two outdoor seating areas, BBQ and fire pit.
The patio space is perfect for outdoor living with both covered and open seating options, and a gated private walkway down to the cute adirondac chairs on our very own dock.
Bring your paddle boards or rent some kayaks from the pier close by, park your boat during high tide and enjoy everything the bay has to offer.
A chef's kitchen (including and not limited to a vitamix blender, kitchenaid mixer, Instapot, le crueset pans, a bodum and classic Nespresso, spices and more) and a gas BBQ allow you to create meals to enjoy on the beautiful deck or the private wharf.
Remember - we're right on the water and kids don't float. Children should be wearing a PFD at all times while on the wharf.
This is a busy bay with people flocking to the area on the weekends. You can watch boats coming in and out of the public boat launch, rent a kayak, head out on a whale watching tour, grab an ice cream, visit the maritime museum, and so much more without having to drive anywhere.
