The suite is 5 minute drive from the water's edge at Maple Bay where you'll find a pebble beach, kayak rentals and a pub with great food and a wonderful view. Please note that the suite is not a waterfront property.

If you're looking for a short get-away from Vancouver or anywhere within Canada during these Covid times, this would be a perfect base to explore the Cowichan Valley and Salt Spring island.

This suite is fully equipped and would also be great for people looking for a place for up to a few months while they build a new home, are in the Duncan area on short-term assignment or whatever.

Mountain biking trails are close by. The Cowichan Valley has an extensive wine route. Every Saturday Duncan hosts the largest farmer's market on Vancouver Island. Head to the Cowichan River and go tubing or just relax on the beach. Cowichan Bay offers paddling and whale watching tours. Walk the Kinsol Trestle, have a picnic! Take a ferry over to Salt Spring Island. There are golf courses, fishing and much more...Enjoy!

This is a large, bright, quiet ground level suite. It is flooded with light and looks out on a garden with mature arbutus trees, Garry oaks and Douglas firs. Your living room has a comfy sofa, an electric fireplace for cosy evenings and a 55 inch smart TV with cable and Netflix. Your bedroom has a comfortable queen-sized bed with luxury bedding and plenty of storage.

There's a den with a love seat that opens out to a single bed if needed as well as a desk with chair and reading light. PLEASE NOTE: there is a $25 / night additional charge if there is a third person in the rental group.

Your kitchen has a full-sized fridge, range with oven, dishwasher microwave oven and all the usual utensils you might need to cook whatever your heart desires. There's a peninsula with counter stools so your guests can chat with you while you cook. The separate dining room has a large farm-style table with four chairs ... a great place to serve a meal, or play cards or board games.

There is an in-suite washer and dryer and an ironing board and iron.

The suite is a 10 minute drive to Duncan, where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, and all kinds of shopping and services. The local neighbourhood is known for great hiking and mountain biking on Mount Tzouhalem and Maple Mountain. There are more than half a dozen wineries in the area, many antique and collectibles shops, The Raptors, where you can get up close and personal with hawks, eagles, ospreys, etc. You will be a 15 minute drive to the ferry at Crofton, BC that takes you to beautiful Salt Spring Island. The capital of BC, Victoria, is easily accessible on Highway 1, about one hour's drive to the south. and Nanaimo is about an hour's drive to the north.

This bright and spacious bachelor suite gives you a kitchenette for smaller meals (no stove/oven) a full bath with shower and options to use the brand new queen sized bed for lounging or sleeping Full access to a dock over the Cowibbean cottage’s deck will allow you to further enjoy all the bay has to offer. The property has We have 3 security cameras, one mounted on the front of the house facing the dock, one mounted on the guesthouse facing the front door of the cottage and the final one mounted on a piling looking back at the house to watch the tidal changes. This last camera can be disabled during your stay. These cameras are used for security purposes only & do not impede on the enjoyment of private spaces in the home.

Beyond Maple Bay you will find valleys dotted with vineyards, farm stands, culinary experiences, farmers markets, festivals, live music and many creative artisans.
We have a saying, "There are no wrong turns on Vancouver Island", every road will lead to something new and unexpected.
Vancouver Island has ferry service from the mainland, 3 airports and float plane service that will bring you within walking distance to the suite.
The suite itself is accessed by 5 stairs, parking is onsite and the suite is one level with a walk in shower.

A modern, minimalist home away from home, our Suite space offers an absolutely unique setting . The Suite is uncluttered, but is fully equipped with every modern construction detail. Built in 2009 using Passive House techniques, the house boasts double thick walls, in-floor radiant heat, triple-pane floor-to-ceiling windows. Views of Cowichan Bay estuary, Mount Tzouhalem and a neighboring orchard and forest.

On the inside, guests have full private access to a fully equipped kitchen. 2 bedrooms both with Queen size beds 1 with Queen size cupboard Bed. bathroom with bathtub/Shower, sink, toilet.

On the outside, guests have access to a large front garden, back patio with table, chairs and a gas barbecue, Hot Tub and there is also parking.

In a word, Cowichan Bay is quaint. A float-home village nestled into an area of mountains, wineries, local agriculture. The first Cittaslow town in North America, Cowichan Bay is ground zero for the 100-mile (or much less) diet boasting the immensely popular True Grains Bakery and Hilary's Cheese Shop, as well as multiple Zagat rated restaurants.

Located 10 minutes drive from the town of Duncan (home to the largest First Nations population in BC), the area is widely known for its local arts and artisan community. Ferry routes and further culture abound with Victoria just 45 minutes south and Nanaimo just 45 minutes north. Floatplanes to the surrounding Gulf Islands (Salt Spring and beyond) also depart daily from both Cowichan Bay and nearby Maple Bay.

The space allows for serenity, meaning that it is clutter free. There is a telephone, WiFi internet and a large smart TV, with full cable channels and plug-ins for your laptop.

This pet-free suite is approximately 800 sq ft, and features climate-controlled central heating and A/C to keep you cozy in winter, and cool in the summer. It is a separate suite with private back entrance and keypad, located on the lower level of a single family home on a spacious lot. Only your two quiet hosts live above - no kids or pets other than the occasion family visit.

The suite's large master bedroom features a dreamy pillow-top Queen bed, closet, dresser and private work station. The living room couch opens into a comfy, new IKEA futon with pillow-top Queen mattress which sleeps an additional 2: perfect for kids or groups traveling together. The kitchen is stocked with fridge, freezer, oven, toaster oven, microwave and dish washer, cooking supplies, coffee maker, kettle, small rice cooker, coffee, tea and basic seasonings. Plus granola breakfast, included for the first week of your stay!

Our interaction with guests is minimal, but we are only a message or call away if you need anything at all.

- Parents be advised: While kids of all ages are most welcome, at this time baby equipment, toys and toddler-proofing of the suite or property is not offered. Thanks for understanding.

- Lake Quamichan is our beautiful lake next door overflowing with wildlife, however, swimming is not allowed due to algae overgrowth. Water sports like canoeing and kayaking are fine, however!

- As it’s an older home, quiet hours are 9pm-7am.

- Kindly wash up your dishes/run the dishwasher before you leave, we’ll take care of the rest.

Daily breakfast is provided for the first week of your stay (unless arranged for longer for an additional charge), and includes:
