"Chez" (pronounced "shay") is French for "at the home of", and "ZigZag" is derived from the locally named ‘zigzag’ walkway that connects the home to the downtown area. Chez ZigZag is within easy walking distance of: downtown and an excellent organic grocery "Country Aire", Field Arts And Event Center, and Safeway / Starbucks, the Coho Ferry and Hollywood Beach/ Discovery Trail head. PLEASE NOTE: There are NO provisions for cooking. Keurig, hot water pot, microwave - that's all. Occupants are limited to two total. There is one security camera focused on the interior portion of the outside entrance door in order to ensure security integrity of the apartment.

Use of the general property is limited to the Porthole's dedicated outside patio and does not include the rest of the grounds. The Park in front of our house offers a convenient place to smoke if needed. (Smoking is not allowed in the apartment or the attached patio area. The property is not 420 friendly). This is a basement apartment. The center floor is occupied by the owners and their Bordoodle Pup. They endeavor to be quiet when the Porthole is in use.... However, you will, unavoidably, hear footsteps and limited sound and and occasionally barking from "Winnie". (If this is a concern for you, you should not rent this apartment.)

There is a construction project in the neighborhood extending through Spring of 2026. During this time, parking will occasionally be more of a challenge.

NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF
the apartment is the best three- room "motel suite" in the county - (minus the motel..... we checked). You will love the privacy with the outside covered patio. It's perfect for storing your bicycles. PORTHOLE is great hideaway for a good nights sleep in the King sized bed. Explore the wonders of Port Angeles and the Olympic National Park. The apartment is a short walk to downtown, the Olympic Discovery Trail, two markets, a Starbucks, the Coho Ferry and the Field Performing Arts Center. The Spruce Railroad Trail is within walking distance (approximately two miles), and Joyce Access Road is just the other side of Indian Creek. Easy access to Marymere Falls, Lake Crescent Lodge, Sol Duc Falls, Hurricane Ridge, the Coho ferry to Victoria, B.C and many more within a 45 minute drive radius. With two queen beds the cabin sleeps 4 adults very comfortably. It has a full kitchen, including dishwasher and microwave. There is also a washer and dryer set contained in the bathroom. It is the perfect spot for anyone who loves the outdoors.

The Inside Space:
The apartment has an open concept living/dining and kitchen area with lots of natural light from the two bay windows and sliding glass doors. The living space has a comfy leather couch with two chairs, a TV, a gas fireplace and bay window seating (the perfect space for curling up with a good book!).

Kitchen:
The fully equipped kitchen has all you need for creating meals complete with a gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot and plenty of dishes/pots & pans. Enjoy your meals either inside at the dining table or outside on the deck overlooking the babbling Indian Creek.

Bedrooms and Bath:
The Master bedroom has a queen bed, chair, TV, closet and dresser. The one and only bathroom with large walk-in shower is accessed from INSIDE the Master bedroom ONLY. (Please note that the one and only bathroom can only be accessed from inside the Master bedroom, which means you will want to make sure you are comfortable with this set up BEFORE booking. )
The second bedroom is located across the hall and also has a queen size bed, chair, and small TV.

Laundry:
Laundry is located at the entrance of the apartment in the foyer area, a stacked washer and dryer are free for your use.

Outdoor amenities:
Outside, you can explore the many shared community spaces including private trails down to and alongside the creek, a gazebo seating area, an outdoor creekside wood- burning firepit and a playset in the front yard of the main house. Don't forget to bring your binoculars and camera to see lots of local birds and occasional deer.

Parking:
This property has three vacation rental units. The circular driveway has designated parking spots for each unit. The Elwha Place apartment has a designated parking spot located just to the left of the front entrance. The private entrance is marked with a green plaque titled "Elwha Place" and a ramp that leads to the red front door.

Other things to Note:
There are three rental units on this property.
Please note the apartment has one shared wall with the main house. The door between the main house and the apartment is located next to the kitchen and is locked on both sides by the owner for security, neither the guest in the apartment or guests inside the main house can open this door. There is a slight potential for noise from guests in the main house, but fairly uncommon. The other rental unit is a stand alone cottage. All three rental units share a common circle driveway.

All outdoor areas including the yards, the private trails to the creek, the play structure, the outdoor fire pits and the gazebo seating area are shared with other guests.

If you would like to book both the main house and the stand alone cottage along with the apartment, inquire with owner regarding availability and we can send you the VRBO link for the main house (Indian Valley Retreat) and the stand alone cottage (Indian Creek Cottage). Great way to accommodate large family groups.

Burn Bans may be in effect during the summer months of July to October, the use of outdoor fire pits may be affected if conditions are too dry. It is your responsibility to check to see if a burn ban is in place before starting a fire. We have added propane fire pits for you to use when the wood burning pits are not an option.

The Space:
This studio apartment is perfect for business or pleasure. All the furniture is top quality. The TV swivels so can be viewed by either sofa or the bed. There is a small table and chair for an office nook. The 3/4 bath has a stacked washer and dryer.

The kitchen is limited but still equipped with the basics: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, hot plate and the usual small appliances (see picture). The cupboards and drawers have plates, cups, glassware, and silverware.

The shower is brand new tile with glass door. The heat pump provides both heat and AC.

Fragrance Free Home: we have supplied the home with unscented products (paper products, dish soap & detergent, clothes detergent, pump soap). Exceptions - shampoo and conditioner and wrapped tiny bar soaps. Our cleaners use fragrance free products.

This property is situated adjacent to another unit, with a securely locked connecting door on both sides. While the door remains inaccessible from either unit, ensuring privacy for all guests, the outdoor patio is a shared space, providing a welcoming area for relaxation and enjoyment.

Whiskey Creek Beach NW has exquisite views of the Straight of Juan De Fuca. This unique camp shelter is situated right above the beautiful pebble beach with incredible views of the Canadian Cascades and Mt. Baker. *note: Designated parking at the site, please see map for details.

This super cool A-Frame shelter is an awesome addition to our property. Bring your own sleeping bag and camping gear, we supply 2 single size mats (4" thick) to sleep on. There is a small table and chair set and a fire-pit BBQ as well as access to fresh water. Only a short walk to the port-a-potty. The large windows offer beautiful views all day (and night) of the water, Canadian Cascades, stars and wildlife. You will surely never forget this place! *also note, our Wifi can be spotty due to our remote location.

Located just 25 minutes outside Port Angeles, our guests can enjoy the serenity and beauty of the Olympic Peninsula with easy access to town and some of the best hiking, hunting, fishing and exploring you will ever find. There is so much to do in and around the Olympic National Forest, so take your time and enjoy your stay!

Nearby Olympic National Park entrances like the Sol Duc, Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rain Forest, Cape Flattery make this location an excellent "base camp" from which you can explore the Olympic Peninsula and towns like Forks, Neah Bay and beaches like Shi Shi Beach and Hobuck Beach. The Neighborhood:
This is a quiet area with amazing views. We are remote and perfectly hidden from the hustle and bustle of the city.

*We are nestled in the middle of so many beautiful spots to visit here around the Olympic parks. Only 25-30 min to the breathtaking Lake Crescent. There are numerous hikes and places to explore there. Not much further from that is the entrance to Sol Duc. Going the other direction you’ll find the Olympic Hot Springs and be close to Hurricane Ridge entrance . Cape flattery or the Hoh rainforest are not to be missed if you’re headed towards Sekui or Forks area.

* There is a great little store only 8 min from our cabins , Joyce General, that closes at 7pm. We are only 25 min from Port Angeles so if you’re looking for more options be sure to hit Safeway or Walmart off 101 before heading in for the night.

* Blackberry Cafe is a nice option for a meal out that is only 5-8 min from us. Family Kitchen and the One Twelve are two others near our place. In Port Angeles you have everything from amazing burgers at the Next Door Gastropub, tasty BBQ at Coyote Grill, yummy seafood and steak at Kokopelli Grill, Pho that’s the best at New Saigon. For quick and easy on the pocketbook, Fast Burrito with fresh tasty Mexican food . Also Sabi Thai has stellar Thai food. New Day Eatery has breakfast and lunch only, and is very good! Off the 101 on your way to Lake crescent, try out Granny’s Cafe open during the summer season.

This small farm is centrally located between Sequim and Port Angeles, nestled into a nearby wheat field, with cows in the distance. Views of famous Washington Lavender House and Agnew store that sells local swag, and a short drive from Sunny Farms. Sunny Farms is small local quality grocery and Farm store with a large selection of pasture fed meats, locally grown vegetables, fresh deli, supplements, vegan and gluten-free options. Only minutes away from the Discovery trail, Washington states premier destination for non motorized touring starting in Port Townsend and ending on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

The Blue Moon Tiny House is a cozy, custom-designed space packed into 112sf with everything you need for a comfortable and luxurious stay. This small apartment is perfect for business or pleasure. All the furniture is top quality. The TV swivels so can be viewed by either sofa or the bed. There is a small table and chair for an office nook. The 3/4 bath has a stacked washer and dryer. 

The kitchen is limited but still equipped with the basics: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, hot plate and the usual small appliances (see picture). The cupboards and drawers have plates, cups, glassware, and silverware.

Pictures are coming in. The shower is brand new tile with glass door. The heat pump provides both heat and AC.

Fragrance Free Home: we have supplied the home with unscented products (paper products, dish soap & detergent, clothes detergent, pump soap). Exceptions - shampoo and conditioner and wrapped tiny bar soaps. Our cleaners use fragrance free products.

Walking distance to Shane Park.

Cape flattery or the Hoh rainforest are not to be missed if you’re headed towards Sekui or Forks area.

*To add to the beauty of our remote area, there is limited lighting. This is good to remember when you plan to arrive late after sunset.

*Most GPS software is giving incorrect directions to our location. As you near the property, be sure to follow the large red signs pointing to the right, and do not go up BeachComber drive to the left. Continue to follow signs to Whiskey Creek WEST side. Our office is right after you drive through the anchors. We will be ready to check you in there.

* There is a great little store only 8 min from our cabins , Joyce General, that closes at 8pm. We are only 25 min from Port Angeles so if you’re looking for more options be sure to hit Safeway or Walmart off 101 before heading in for the night.

* Blackberry Cafe is a nice option for a meal out that is only 5-8 min from us. Family Kitchen and the One Twelve are two others near our place. In Port Angeles you have everything from amazing burgers at the Next Door Gastropub, tasty BBQ at Coyote Grill, yummy seafood and steak at Kokopelli Grill, Pho that’s the best at New Saigon. For quick and easy on the pocketbook, Fast Burrito with fresh tasty Mexican food . Also Sabi Thai has stellar Thai food. New Day Eatery has breakfast and lunch only, and is very good!

* Lights are very minimal. Making for a beautiful night sky’s. :) Stars galore! If you plan to arrive after dark be sure to follow the directions we give precisely and ask if you any questions at all. I’d bring a flash light along as well for getting settled at your site.

This studio apartment is perfect for business or pleasure. All the furniture is top quality. The TV swivels so can be viewed by either sofa or the bed. There is a small table and chair for an office nook. The 3/4 bath has a stacked washer and dryer. 

The kitchen is limited but still equipped with the basics: refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, hot plate and the usual small appliances (see picture). The cupboards and drawers have plates, cups, glassware, and silverware.

The shower is brand new tile with glass door. The heat pump provides both heat and AC.

Fragrance Free Home: we have supplied the home with unscented products (paper products, dish soap & detergent, clothes detergent, pump soap). Exceptions - shampoo and conditioner and wrapped tiny bar soaps. Our cleaners use fragrance free products.

This property is situated adjacent to another unit, with a securely locked connecting door on both sides. While the door remains inaccessible from either unit, ensuring privacy for all guests, the outdoor patio is a shared space, providing a welcoming area for relaxation and enjoyment.

You will find this room complete with one queen-sized bed and a 3/4 bathroom with a tiled shower. It is equipped with a table and two chairs, a Keurig coffeemaker (coffee included), a microwave, and a mini-fridge. The lovely gas fireplace will keep you warm and offers all the cozy vibes. The private balcony allows you to take in the surrounding views. You will also have access to the grand living room, which showcases an 8ft fireplace and more magnificent forest views—the perfect spot for enjoying a cup of coffee before heading for a day of hiking.

We are unable to accommodate early check-ins a late check-outs. Check-in time starts at 4 PM and check-out time is 11 AM sharp.

Secluded Rural Retreat near Olympic National Park

The space
Deer Park Retreat occupies the entire 1600 sq.ft. lower level completely separate from upper level. Coded private entrance through sliding glass door into family room / kitchen. Comfortable country decor with leather and hardwood furniture throughout. Table opens to seat six. Comfortable leather sofas for watching smart TV with Firestick and Amazon Prime.

Deer Park Retreat is well-equipped for your comfort. Kitchen has many convenient amenities including coffee pods, creamers, sweeteners, individually wrapped condiments, and a spice rack. Bathroom has individually wrapped soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and other conveniences. Free firewood for the firepit.

Hallway leads to two spacious bedrooms on either side of full bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen bed with firm memory foam mattress, a rollaway, and plenty of storage. Larger bedroom has a bright office space. Books and games are stored in the tall armoires in each bedroom.

Large laundry and storage room. Laundry detergent provided.

Outdoors: Large grassy yard exclusively for guest use with firepit, gas barbecue, and lawn furniture. Views of surrounding countryside and local wildlife.

Upon request: Infant pack n play playpen/bed, high chair, toddler toys, Lego.

NOTES: Motorcycle club 1/2 mile away and firing range 2 miles away occasionally heard on weekends.

We are on a septic system. Nothing can be flushed except toilet paper. "Flushable wipes" CANNOT be flushed.

Guest access
You have exclusive private access to the entire lower level including laundry and large front yard. Seventeen acres to explore. A circular trail leads you through the upper seven acres of the property. Firewood is provided for the firepit. Gas barbecue.

Direct access to the Deer Park entrance to Olympic National Park (9 miles) and a gentle .3 mile walk to the top of Blue Mountain with 360 degree views. No lodge, few visitors, just you, the Olympics, and a view across the Salish Sea to Canada on a clear day.

The space
Master Bedroom - Enjoy the biggest bedroom of the 3, with a king bed, ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower and separate bath tub and large vanity and closet. Step outside in the morning right from your room, onto the back deck where you'll find the hot tub overlooking the Straits of Juan De Fuca. Note, all rooms have their own sliding door onto the deck, so yours won't be the only access to the hot tub. Each set of sliding doors has full black out blinds for your privacy and comfort.

Bedroom 2 - Just down the hallway and across from the second bathroom, you'll find a queen size bed, bookshelf, full closet, and sliding doors out to the back deck. Please note all rooms feature black out blinds.

Bedroom 3. At the end of the hall and across from the office, you'll discover a 3rd queen bedroom, with dresser, closet and sliding glass doors out to the back deck. Please note all rooms feature black out blinds.

When you're not sleeping, you'll have a spacious living room to enjoy, large kitchen, dining room, office and laundry room. The wraparound deck with a hammock, hot tub, picnic table and loungers is our favorite place to be though.
