A suite of rooms in our residence features a private entry from a spacious veranda with a glorious view, into a bedroom with a queen size bed and TV. Through the bedroom door is a small room where you will find the coffee and wine cart. Through a pocket door, you enter your sitting room with a couch, table, a second TV, refrigerator, and microwave. Off the sitting room is a large bathroom with a shower and clawfoot tub. The bedroom and bathroom are private with locking doors. The sitting area is separated from the rest of the lower floor of the residence with a heavy antique Japanese screen and is your private space during your stay. It is NOT a locking door and is OPEN TO SOUND from the rest of the house. THIS IS NOT A SEPARATE UNIT. IF YOU WANT COMPLETE PRIVACY, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! Our driveway runs past the veranda and you may see one of our vehicles drive past one or two times a day.

It is a 5 minute drive to the Anacortes ferry terminal, 8 minutes to shops and restaurants in downtown Anacortes, and 20 minutes to Deception Pass State Park. The veranda features a table and chairs and umbrella for sunny days. Parking on the street in front of the house is always available as Skyline is a very quiet residential area on the west side of Fidalgo Island.

If excessive cleaning is necessary due to bodily fluids/biohazard, you will be charged at least $100 extra, possibly more depending on the severity of the situation. This extra charge is at the sole discretion of the host.

Although not required, we highly suggest you purchase Travel Insurance. Whether the issue for needing to cancel is illness or accident, bad weather, air quality concerns, flight delays or cancellations or any other reason you are unable to make the trip, travel insurance will be your refund opportunity. When the Sun Shines, this place soaks it up! It's sunny here far more often than many places in Western Washington.

Perfect for 2 people, however, it Can Sleep 7 People --- but it will be tight.

There is one main bedroom with a queen size bed and TV PLUS a tiny bunk bedroom with 3 single beds & TV.

HOWEVER...The bunk room is directly connected to the shower, there is a door for privacy, but you will have to negotiate access to the room with the person who may be taking a shower.

We have another queen size fold out bed for the living room. ALL BEDS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE according to reports by MOST people.

The shower has double shower heads!!!

Living room has both a sofa and a love seat. There is also a gas fireplace which warms the apartment quickly. THERE IS NO TV IN THE LIVING ROOM, it would take away from the views, but each bedroom has 2 large screen TVs.

The Kitchen has Pots, Pans, Sinks, 4 burner gas stove plus gas oven, Microwave Oven, Toaster, Coffee Maker, Grinder and ORGANIC Coffee, Full Size Refrigerator, Plates, Glasses, Bowls and more; it is setup with all that you will need for cooking good quality meals.

About our Authentic Home Made India Food - Of course it is delicious. We use pesticide free and organic ingredients to the extent that is possible. So please understand, we will do our best to honor our commitment to serve food but there are no guarantees. Ask for our menu. This is an add on charge.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. But inside of the units, out back enjoying the amazing views, which is where most people spend most of their time, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

GUEST NOISES: From time to time we have guests downstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry up through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

Likewise we ask you to keep your noise level down. Especially moving furniture around does make loud scraping sounds downstairs, so just be aware and respectful of the downstairs guests. They have been told there could be noise coming from upstairs, please, just try not to make it excessive.

Living Room and Kitchen are small. There is only 1 bathroom & 1 shower. If you plan to fill this unit to the maximum of 7 people be aware that it will be tight, but workable if you all get along well and cooperate with each other. There is a spacious cliff side patio with ample furniture to enjoy a nice meal and views together. Hot water heater has been engineered to provide ample hot water for 7 guests, even if taken back to back.

NOTE: that the QUEEN BED IN THE LIVING ROOM takes up extra space when the bed is setup. While it is easy to setup, it does require time and effort to set it up and put it back and un-make the bed.

GUEST NOISES: You will hear foot steps, voices, and kitchen appliances from above, this is the downstairs unit of the main house, other guests or us your hosts will be staying above. It is a daylight basement converted into a beautiful living space.

From time to time we have guests upstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry down through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. It is also noticeable in the bunk bedroom of this unit. Other than that, inside the main living areas of the units, or out back enjoying the amazing views, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

Interaction with Guests:
We enjoy spending time with our guests, but we are also very busy people, so it can be hit or miss. Rest assured we will leave you alone to enjoy your own private time if that is what you want, or we may sit out back and enjoy the sunshine and views and a nice chat with you if you are open to that and we have the time.

Cannot wait to come back to this area! Our host was very communicative, and helpful with local recommendations. Admittedly, we were usually out and about all day every day...only came back to the Vrbo to sleep; and, we made simple breakfasts there. It may be a bit too small of a place for 5 people to hang out all day inside. But, the listing was very accurate; so, there were no surprises in this regard. One thing worth noting is that one of the bedrooms can only be accessed by passing through the bathroom. We weren't prepared for that; but, then again, the listing may have mentioned it, and I overlooked it. Ultimately, we made do; the price of this unit is extremely reasonable; and, the hosts were top-notch."

About this space
Happy Valley Studio rests in a lovely rural neighborhood, near 2800 acres of Community Forestlands hiking trails. It's ~15 minutes (3.6 Mi) from the Ferry to the San Juan Islands and an easy 5 minutes from downtown Anacortes. We have been in operation since 2015 on a different platform, with over700 stellar reviews and are so happy to now also be on VRBO! What people love about our place: comfortable bed, the quiet space, private feel, the neighborhood, and our lovely gardens and pond.We look forward to hosting you!

The space
The Studio is separate from our main residence, and it is roomy, at 375 sq. ft. Our setting is 2.5 acres of garden and woodlands. You will see wildlife if you watch carefully for it, including quail, eagles, hawks, blue heron, coyote, and rabbits. Since we are rural, on clear nights you may even see the stars through the skylight windows in your room, or moonlight. In the Springtime, the frogs sing in serenade from the pond!

Guest access:
You have access to the entire North half of the upstairs in what has long been known as "the barn." It is actually a two-story garage, workroom, and flower drying facility, and greenhouse, and was used for many years as part of the dried flower production and gift shop businesses of its former owners.

Other things to note
The property is accessed via a short one-lane gravel lane with turnouts. We all pull over with a smile and a wave, to allow others by! Your parking is located directly at the foot of the balcony stairs by the two white concrete posts.

The TV is a Smart (Internet TV) not cable - but you will have fast Wifi and can sign in to your Netflix or other accounts to watch on the TV.

Enjoy a glass of wine from the Adirondacks while watching the tide roll in. Take a 2 minute stroll down to the beach. Bring your Kayaks, Paddle boards, biking & hiking gear! You are close to everything, yet will feel one with nature- a world away! 7 minutes to Anacortes and 12-15 mins. to Deception pass, Mt. Erie, Whistle Lake, San Juan Island Ferry & Skagit Valley! As an added bonus, Swinomish Golf Course and Bastion Brewery are just down the street 1/8 mile. There are so many activities in the area and this location is truly central to all: Whale watching excursions, Hiking, Fishing, Swimming, Skagit Valley tours, island-hopping, wineries, shopping, dining, and festivals to enjoy!

Our rental was very spacious. With 2 separate bedrooms, a nice size tv room with large dining table and a full kitchen. The outdoor shared patio looked very inviting but we didnot have time to sit out there. Very conviently located not only to neighboring cities but just a short distance to local restaurants and stores. When we have more time we really hope to come back and stay a bit longer to see all that Anacortes has to offer."
