A suite of rooms in our residence features a private entry from a spacious veranda with a glorious view, into a bedroom with a queen size bed and TV. Through the bedroom door is a small room where you will find the coffee and wine cart. Through a pocket door, you enter your sitting room with a couch, table, a second TV, refrigerator, and microwave. Off the sitting room is a large bathroom with a shower and clawfoot tub. The bedroom and bathroom are private with locking doors. The sitting area is separated from the rest of the lower floor of the residence with a heavy antique Japanese screen and is your private space during your stay. It is NOT a locking door and is OPEN TO SOUND from the rest of the house. THIS IS NOT A SEPARATE UNIT. IF YOU WANT COMPLETE PRIVACY, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! Our driveway runs past the veranda and you may see one of our vehicles drive past one or two times a day.

It is a 5 minute drive to the Anacortes ferry terminal, 8 minutes to shops and restaurants in downtown Anacortes, and 20 minutes to Deception Pass State Park. The veranda features a table and chairs and umbrella for sunny days. Parking on the street in front of the house is always available as Skyline is a very quiet residential area on the west side of Fidalgo Island.

If excessive cleaning is necessary due to bodily fluids/biohazard, you will be charged at least $100 extra, possibly more depending on the severity of the situation. This extra charge is at the sole discretion of the host.

Although not required, we highly suggest you purchase Travel Insurance. Whether the issue for needing to cancel is illness or accident, bad weather, air quality concerns, flight delays or cancellations or any other reason you are unable to make the trip, travel insurance will be your refund opportunity. We will not act as your travel insurer. Please be sure to read our cancellation policy, which will be not be modified or adjusted.

When the Sun Shines, this place soaks it up! It's sunny here far more often than many places in Western Washington.

Perfect for 2 people, however, it Can Sleep 7 People --- but it will be tight.

There is one main bedroom with a queen size bed and TV PLUS a tiny bunk bedroom with 3 single beds & TV.

HOWEVER...The bunk room is directly connected to the shower, there is a door for privacy, but you will have to negotiate access to the room with the person who may be taking a shower.

We have another queen size fold out bed for the living room. ALL BEDS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE according to reports by MOST people.

The shower has double shower heads!!!

Living room has both a sofa and a love seat. There is also a gas fireplace which warms the apartment quickly. THERE IS NO TV IN THE LIVING ROOM, it would take away from the views, but each bedroom has 2 large screen TVs.

The Kitchen has Pots, Pans, Sinks, 4 burner gas stove plus gas oven, Microwave Oven, Toaster, Coffee Maker, Grinder and ORGANIC Coffee, Full Size Refrigerator, Plates, Glasses, Bowls and more; it is setup with all that you will need for cooking good quality meals.

About our Authentic Home Made India Food - Of course it is delicious. We use pesticide free and organic ingredients to the extent that is possible. We do serve food most nights with advanced notice, frequently we can serve you on short notice, and sometimes things come up and we just cannot provide food service, even if you have arranged it in advance. So please understand, we will do our best to honor our commitment to serve food but there are no guarantees. Ask for our menu. This is an add on charge.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. But inside of the units, out back enjoying the amazing views, which is where most people spend most of their time, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

GUEST NOISES: From time to time we have guests downstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry up through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

Likewise we ask you to keep your noise level down. Especially moving furniture around does make loud scraping sounds downstairs, so just be aware and respectful of the downstairs guests. They have been told there could be noise coming from upstairs, please, just try not to make it excessive.

Living Room and Kitchen are small. There is only 1 bathroom & 1 shower. If you plan to fill this unit to the maximum of 7 people be aware that it will be tight, but workable if you all get along well and cooperate with each other. There is a spacious cliff side patio with ample furniture to enjoy a nice meal and views together. Hot water heater has been engineered to provide ample hot water for 7 guests, even if taken back to back.

NOTE: that the QUEEN BED IN THE LIVING ROOM takes up extra space when the bed is setup. While it is easy to setup, it does require time and effort to set it up and put it back and un-make the bed.

GUEST NOISES: You will hear foot steps, voices, and kitchen appliances from above, this is the downstairs unit of the main house, other guests or us your hosts will be staying above. It is a daylight basement converted into a beautiful living space.

From time to time we have guests upstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry down through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. It is also noticeable in the bunk bedroom of this unit. Other than that, inside the main living areas of the units, or out back enjoying the amazing views, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

Interaction with Guests:
We enjoy spending time with our guests, but we are also very busy people, so it can be hit or miss. Rest assured we will leave you alone to enjoy your own private time if that is what you want, or we may sit out back and enjoy the sunshine and views and a nice chat with you if you are open to that and we have the time.

- "really nice and the host was great!" - "We had a very pleasant stay here, and there were 5 of us. Very accessible to Deception Pass and the town of Anacortes. Cannot wait to come back to this area! Our host was very communicative, and helpful with local recommendations. Admittedly, we were usually out and about all day every day...only came back to the Vrbo to sleep; and, we made simple breakfasts there. It may be a bit too small of a place for 5 people to hang out all day inside. But, the listing was very accurate; so, there were no surprises in this regard. One thing worth noting is that one of the bedrooms can only be accessed by passing through the bathroom. We weren't prepared for that; but, then again, the listing may have mentioned it, and I overlooked it. Ultimately, we made do; the price of this unit is extremely reasonable; and, the hosts were top-notch."

About this space
Happy Valley Studio rests in a lovely rural neighborhood, near 2800 acres of Community Forestlands hiking trails. It's ~15 minutes (3.6 Mi) from the Ferry to the San Juan Islands and an easy 5 minutes from downtown Anacortes. We have been in operation since 2015 on a different platform, with over700 stellar reviews and are so happy to now also be on VRBO! What people love about our place: comfortable bed, the quiet space, private feel, the neighborhood, and our lovely gardens and pond.We look forward to hosting you!

The space
The Studio is separate from our main residence, and it is roomy, at 375 sq. ft. Our setting is 2.5 acres of garden and woodlands. You will see wildlife if you watch carefully for it, including quail, eagles, hawks, blue heron, coyote, and rabbits. Since we are rural, on clear nights you may even see the stars through the skylight windows in your room, or moonlight. In the Springtime, the frogs sing in serenade from the pond!

Guest access:
You have access to the entire North half of the upstairs in what has long been known as "the barn." It is actually a two-story garage, workroom, and flower drying facility, and greenhouse, and was used for many years as part of the dried flower production and gift shop businesses of its former owners.

Other things to note
The property is accessed via a short one-lane gravel lane with turnouts. We all pull over with a smile and a wave, to allow others by! Your parking is located directly at the foot of the balcony stairs by the two white concrete posts.

The TV is a Smart (Internet TV) not cable - but you will have fast Wifi and can sign in to your Netflix or other accounts to watch on the TV.

The Neighborhood:
Located within Scimitar Ridge Ranch, this cabin sits atop a secluded hillside just outside Anacortes, WA. The drive to the cabin takes you about a mile through the private ranch on mostly paved roads, passing lush landscapes, forest groves, and peaceful pastureland.

Despite its quiet setting, the cabin is close to top local attractions:

We recommend having your own vehicle to access the ranch and nearby attractions. The cabin is reached via a one-mile drive through the ranch, mostly paved and well-maintained. Free parking is available near the cabin in designated areas.
Popular destinations like downtown Anacortes, Whistle Lake, Deception Pass, and Mount Erie are all within 10 miles, making this an ideal base for your Pacific Northwest adventure.

◆ Linens and towels are provided. You may bring extras, especially for outdoor adventures.

We live on an acre in a quiet residential neighborhood close to the beach. You will have about 1000 square feet of living space in a separate daylight basement apartment below us. Plenty of safe parking and just a few blocks to highway 20 to Deception Pass, downtown Anacortes, and Whidbey island. Miles of forest land trails 5-10 minutes away. Parking is on a gravel driveway which leads to a cement walkway (down slope) on the left side of the house to your private entry. No stairs to entry. Inside, there is a shallow step to kitchen and one to the bedroom area.

Twin mattress can be set up in the dining room . There is also a queen sized pull out bed in sofa. Guests more than two are $30 extra each. Be aware that there is only one bathroom off the bedroom so if extra guests are sleeping on sofa or twin mattress, they will have to go through the bedroom to use bathroom.

The space
Clean, quaint and modern but very warm atmosphere with all the touches of home that make relaxing easy and fun. Great outdoor spaces in private backyard, playful outside lighting with cozy and relational fire pit. Local wildlife such as bunnies, deer, quail, eagles, hawks are often seen in and around the property.

The Studio is in the daylight basement of our home with 9 foot ceilings. The studio is a stand alone part of the house and does not have access to the top floor. The patio outside your huge window has a separate propane fire pit with 2 lounge chairs. There is designated, off street parking area for two studios. You may be sharing a parking area but there is ample room for 2-3 cars. We have two adjacent units that are purposefully soundproofed. This studio is not suitable for infants or children. We do live upstairs so expect footsteps and some unavoidable noise that comes from shared living.

Other things to note
If you have a longer stay you can schedule with host to do laundry upstairs in the residence.

The studio apartment is located at the foot of Mt. Erie overlooking Lake Campbell. Just minutes away from Deception Pass, historic downtown Anacortes, and a short drive to La Conner. Anacortes is the gateway to the San Juan Islands. Enjoy your coffee on the patio watching eagles and other wildlife. Finish the end of your day, sitting next to the fire pit, with a glass of wine watching the sun set.

The space
Clean, spacious, with all the amenities of home. Beautiful private bathroom, walk in shower, adjacent to laundry, and a quiet workspace with internet. Along with a fully equipped kitchen, there is outdoor dining and a gas BBQ available on the back patio.

The apartment is located on the bottom floor of our home. The apartment does not have access to the top floor. Guest parking is located directly in front of your private entrance.

Other things to note
This standard studio can accommodate up to four people comfortably. Standard booking price is for two guests, additional guests are $20 per night each.

Need more room and privacy? Please contact us for information about the adjoining King suite room which rents for an additional $40 per night. This space is excellent for a quiet, contemplative get-away for one or two. Or a bucolic romp for a smaller family. Located in the middle of the island surrounded by trees and grassy pasture (no animals at this farmhouse). It's a short walk to the beach or School House Park.
The island is served by a small, county ferry. There is a small store/restaurant for necessities.
You should plan to bring any food or staples with you that you might need.

The space
This is a studio apartment - no bedrooms. There is a well-appointed kitchen (no microwave!) and bathroom with a tub/shower. There is a standard queen-size bed and two single inflatable beds.
The TV is mostly just a monitor for the DVD player. We have quite a few DVDs there for your use. You can also plug in your (non-Apple (sorry!)) device - we have a HDMI to USBC or you can unplug the HDMI to HDMI from the DVD player and use it.
We have a generator that auto starts during a power outage. The good news is that you'll have electricity. The bad news is that it is under the stairs up to the apartment and is a bit loud. (NOTE - there is a test of the generator on Tuesday's at 9:30AM. It lasts only about 5 minutes.)

The apartment above the garage will be all yours. No one else will access without your permission during your stay. You will not have access to the garage below the apartment or the main house.

The apartment sits above the owner's garage. Access is via a relatively steep set of stairs. Please park in front of the left (when facing) garage door. The main house has a full-time occupant.

MUTTS. Our protective rescue dog (Nutmeg) likes to emphatically announce visitors. She strikes quite a pose, but she's really a marshmallow. Barks and licks, does not bite. She makes friends quickly, especially with treats (provided in the guest entry). Her little sidekick (the pandemic Pomeranian puppy Poppy) joins furiously in the guardian efforts. Please bear with them as they sometimes act in ridiculous and embarrassing ways.

Walkable old town Anacortes. Stay in a quality updated historic building with a roof top deck located next to downtown and across from Dakota Creek Shipyard with parking for 3 -4 autos/trucks. Great location for staying while doing temp work in Anacortes.. The view changes depending on weather and the shipyard.

The building is on the National Historic Register. 3 BR 1.5 BA with fir flooring and wood trimmed windows and doors.There is a dance studio on the first floor and a shipyard across the street. Both can be the source of noise or music but the building is well insulated and with the windows closed, the noise level is generally not an issue.Currently the shipyard has a navy contract for 6 tugboats and they are also working swing shift. Our apartment is located one block from the Majestic Inn and Spa. Our space is perfect for a group attending a wedding or other events at the Inn, or a special weekend like the Anacortes Arts crafts festival. Location is one of the best in Old Town. The building is on the national historic register and you will need to climb 21 stairs to get to the living area which is on the second floor. The second floor has a center hallway which has access to the apartment, laundry area, and stairway to roof . Children must be supervised and well behaved due to the stairs and the roof deck.

GUEST NOISES: You will hear foot steps, voices, and kitchen appliances from above, this is the downstairs unit of the main house, other guests or us your hosts will be staying above. It is a daylight basement converted into a beautiful living space.

From time to time we have guests upstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry down through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. It is also noticeable in the bunk bedroom of this unit. Other than that, inside the main living areas of the units, or out back enjoying the amazing views, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

When the Sun Shines, this place soaks it up! It's sunny here far more often than many places in Western Washington.

Perfect for 2 people, however, it Can Sleep 7 People --- but it will be tight.

There is one main bedroom with a queen size bed and TV PLUS a tiny bunk bedroom with 3 single beds & TV.

HOWEVER...The bunk room is directly connected to the shower, there is a door for privacy, but you will have to negotiate access to the room with the person who may be taking a shower.

We have another queen size fold out bed for the living room. ALL BEDS ARE VERY COMFORTABLE according to reports by MOST people.

The shower has double shower heads!!!

Living room has both a sofa and a love seat. There is also a gas fireplace which warms the apartment quickly. THERE IS NO TV IN THE LIVING ROOM, it would take away from the views, but each bedroom has 2 large screen TVs.

The Kitchen has Pots, Pans, Sinks, 4 burner gas stove plus gas oven, Microwave Oven, Toaster, Coffee Maker, Grinder and ORGANIC Coffee, Full Size Refrigerator, Plates, Glasses, Bowls and more; it is setup with all that you will need for cooking good quality meals.

About our Authentic Home Made India Food - Of course it is delicious. We use pesticide free and organic ingredients to the extent that is possible. We do serve food most nights with advanced notice, frequently we can serve you on short notice, and sometimes things come up and we just cannot provide food service, even if you have arranged it in advance. So please understand, we will do our best to honor our commitment to serve food but there are no guarantees. Ask for our menu. This is an add on charge.

ROAD NOISE: We do have some road noise. MOST guests barely notice it. SOME guests do have issues with it. If you are highly sensitive to noise or can't stop focusing on it, then this is not the place for you. We live here and rarely notice it. It is the worst when standing outside in the drive way and trying to have a conversation. But inside of the units, out back enjoying the amazing views, which is where most people spend most of their time, most people don't even notice it. It is barely audible.

GUEST NOISES: From time to time we have guests downstairs who have a little to much of a good time, too much to drink and get a bit noisy. It does carry up through the floor when that happens. We ask them, and you, not to do that and it is a house rule to keep it quiet especially after 10pm.

Likewise we ask you to keep your noise level down. Especially moving furniture around does make loud scraping sounds downstairs, so just be aware and respectful of the downstairs guests. They have been told there could be noise coming from upstairs, please, just try not to make it excessive.
