I arrived by uber from the airport, and I initially walked up the stairs to the front entrance. The stairs were overgrown with thorny bushes and it was hard to walk up and hurt my feet/ankles because of the thorns. Prior to arriving, the owners sent multiple texts/emails with links and instructions about using a keypad to get in. There was no keypad on the front door. So I then went to the side door where there was a keypad. The code I was given did not work, so I contacted the owner. I sent photos of the keypad and videos of me pulling the door closed as instructed. The owner gave me a second code that did not work, and then asked if I was at the right house (though my photos and videos should have indicated if I was at the right place). I spent 30 minutes in the 90° heat, unable to get inside while going back and forth with the owner. I was about to call another uber to take me to a hotel, when finally the owner informed me there was another entrance in the back by the trash cans! In the back there were 2 more doors with keypads I tried each one, figured out which one the code worked on and then the door still didn’t open because I had to put it and push hard because it gets stuck. Once inside it was sweltering hot because the AC wasn’t even turned on! It was horrible. The owner’s only response was “thank you for letting me know”"

We have everything you’ll need including a complimentary bottle of wine for those 21 and older. We have wine glasses, mugs, kuerig, microwave and mini fridge. Body wash, shampoo and conditioner in bathroom. We have towels and washcloths as well. For your convenience we also have robes.

You can see a view of Mount Rainier from the guest area. It is viewable through our deck. Our street is very private, and there are only a handful of homes located here, so it’s very serene. When you round the corner onto our street, you will see the most magnificent view of Mount Rainier!

This home designed with your comfort in mind. The house features 2 levels: on the main level there are three bedrooms with a shared large bathroom, and one bedroom with a private bath; and a studio apartment in the basement level (this unit). The reservation comes with one free parking on the property.

Guest access
During your stay you will have access to the basement studio, the private bathroom, and the private backyard.

The studio has a sleeping area, living area, a kitchenette, laundry, and a full bathroom.

Sleeping Area: queen size bed, clothing rack, and a dresser.

Living Area: full size couch, armchair, coffee table, blackout curtains, and a smart TV.

Kitchenette: fully equipped with the essentials (utensils, pots/pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, etc.), microwave, convection oven, electric countertop hotplate, full size fridge, blender, Keurig coffee maker, full size sink, eating island, and cabinet space for your pantry items.

Private Bathroom: tub and shower combo, single sink vanity, towels, and hair dryer.

Laundry: in unit new washer and dryer, and iron with ironing board.

Backyard/Patio: Fully fenced in backyard and patio with table and chairs to allow you to enjoy the outdoors. This area is not shared with any other renter, however 1-2 times a month the garage renter will need to go through the yard to access the garage (you will be notified ahead of time if this is to happen).

Access to the house is secure with keypad entry. Each guest has a separate code for safety. The lock will auto lock after opening to insure security.

There is a staircase inside the studio that leads to the upstairs, but the only reason to go up would be to get mail/packages.

This apartment is on the main floor of a triplex, with 2 other active units above and below. While the home looks and feels brand new, it was built in the 1920’s, which means sound can travel. We ask that all guests are mindful of any other potential guests staying in our home and honor quiet times. (10pm-7am)

Charming lakefront building on Lake Steilacoom built in 1903 as a boys gymnasium, converted into 12 separate apartment units in the 1950's. This one bedroom unit, unite #12, is located on the 3rd floor and has spectacular views of the lake.

The space
Originally a gymnasium for a boys' school, this charming 12-unit apartment complex, sits on a spacious lakefront lot on Lake Steilacoom, in a residential neighborhood. This is on the 3rd floor, a one bedroom unit sleeps 3 comfortably. Unit has a living room with a small kitchen and dining area. A rolling bed will be provided for the 3rd guest.

This unit has fantastic views and all the comfort of a home. No elevator. The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas stove, toaster, coffee maker and a fridge. Basic cooking necessities (oil, some spices) are provided for your convenience. There is a small deck, on the 3rd floor right outside the unit with amazing views. Kayaks and a canoe can be used to relax on the lake and watch the sunset or get some exercise.

There is a lot of wildlife to enjoy on the lake, it is open for fishing during season. You may enjoy seeing ducks and eagles as you enjoy the lake from the dock.

There is a coin operated laundry facility on. A community barbecue is also available for your use. There is a fire pit by the lake, you will enjoy relaxing by it, roasting hot dogs, making s'mores. The private dock (for guests and tenants only) is yours to enjoy the lake for relaxing and swimming.

The space
- This is a private apartment space within a large home. You will enter the home from the front door to main, shared hall with stairs that lead to the individual units. The Salish is one of two units on the second floor. The other unit is called The Rainier, and we also have a third Airbnb listing on the third floor, called The Nest.

- If you forgot or need anything, check out the common hall closet at the top of the second landing; there you will find games, DVD's, hair dryer, extra toiletries, first aid kit, iron and more! Help yourself!

- Pets have not been within unit under current ownership.

- We use the NEST thermostat for heating, and it is auto-controlled according to the temperature in your unit. With that said, if you are too hot or too cold, don't hesitate to let us know and we can adjust accordingly. There is no A/C in the home.

- No smoking or vaping of any kind on the property.

Enjoy the beautiful backyard, with garden space and apple trees (from late summer through fall there are more apples than we can keep up with - help yourself!)

Other things to note
This Dutch Colonial Home was built in 1900 and converted into four units during World War II. While the home has experienced many updates over the years, some things have been harder to improve than others.

We like to warn our guests that sound does tend to travel in our old home. While one can not hear a conversation from another unit, it is likely that you may hear loud sounds if they occur.

We ask that you please be respectful and honor our quiet time hours from 10pm to 8am. During this time, please do not play music or televisions loudly and please simply be considerate of others. We appreciate your understanding!
