Prior to arriving, the owners sent multiple texts/emails with links and instructions about using a keypad to get in. There was no keypad on the front door. So I then went to the side door where there was a keypad. The code I was given did not work, so I contacted the owner. I sent photos of the keypad and videos of me pulling the door closed as instructed. The owner gave me a second code that did not work, and then asked if I was at the right house (though my photos and videos should have indicated if I was at the right place). I spent 30 minutes in the 90° heat, unable to get inside while going back and forth with the owner. I was about to call another uber to take me to a hotel, when finally the owner informed me there was another entrance in the back by the trash cans! In the back there were 2 more doors with keypads I tried each one, figured out which one the code worked on and then the door still didn’t open because I had to put it and push hard because it gets stuck. Once inside it was sweltering hot because the AC wasn’t even turned on! It was horrible. The owner’s only response was “thank you for letting me know”"

This completely renovated home is located in a quiet tree-lined Jo neighborhood just two blocks from the beautiful University of Puget Sound campus. Guests share the entrance with hosts who live on the first floor. Up one flight of stairs and through a doorway to the second floor, guests have exclusive use of the second floor in this spotless home. This entire floor was added 10 years ago and features two large bedrooms (air conditioning), bathroom with shower, sitting room, and fully equipped kitchen. This home has undergone a very long and extensive, COMPLETE remodel. All work has been done by us. "This Old House" enthusiasts would be proud. We have striven for an English country cottage look - down to the numerous gardens and hand-planed white picket fence.

To reiterate above information: Guests will have use of the entire second floor where two bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchenette , and sitting room are located.
Hosts live downstairs and share the front door/entrance with guests.
The sitting room has an HD TV and small dining area. There is a fully equipped kitchenette; and a huge master bedroom (queen bed) with HD TV, sitting and desk areas; a bathroom with shower and small tub, fully furnished kitchenette and a second bedroom (queen bed). Guests have full use of the front porch with old fashioned porch swing and wicker furniture - reminiscent of days gone by. There is also a private brick patio with gardens, a water feature, firepit and patio string lights. You have complete access and use of these areas. Enjoy your morning cup of coffee or afternoon cocktails overlooking our lovely gardens either on the front porch or patio.

Parents visiting their student(s) at UPS are always welcome. We are literally two blocks from the main entrance of the Administration Building from our property.
We designed our renovations with the intention of offering UPS parents a welcoming place to stay when visiting their children at the University.

Our downstairs dining room (seats 8) (and full kitchen) can be available upon request for a special meal/occasion. (Parents of UPS students can prepare their favorite meal and/or have them bring a few friends over for dinner). With notice, hosts will make themselves scarce for the evening.

- "Our 4th year staying here and it never disappoints!" - "We had a lovely stay. Traveling with a toddler, I appreciated that the playground is gated. Our kids had a great time on the playground (better than pictures!), swings all around the property and entertainment options available (foosball, water crafts, volleyballs, so much more!). The house was clean-- so much so that I didn't even feel the need to sanitize upon arrival as I often do in rentals. Our host was very gracious to come and deliver extra dish washer detergent pods. The kitchen is large, with great pots and pans to use (a rarity with rentals!). Two dishwashers is a cook's dream! The soft ice machine was my personal fav in the kitchen. Bring some flavored syrups and make snow cones! A few items to note for planning purposes-- you definitely want to bring all food items with you to the island. Waiting for the ferry can definitely add a decent amount of travel time, but there is ice cream and playgrounds at Steilacoom! The living room at the rental is sunken with a few steps. Overall, the views were amazing, access to water great. The property has plenty of activities onsite-- no need to leave unless you want to go explore other parts of the island. Commencement View Cottage built in 1910 is a completely renovated house with commanding views of Commencement Bay in Tacoma.
This house was renovated with the traveler in mind.

The cottage features 2 bedrooms. Each bedroom has a queen bed with a high quality mattress. There is one renovated bathroom with all of the amenities like a make up mirror, shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, scale, curling iron. *****This house is over 100 years old. Please be aware that the bathroom entry is through the master bedroom*****

Enjoy the amazing views from all 3 decks. Views are to be had from the eat-in kitchen. The large from deck has a table and chairs, sofa and two comfortable chairs and a rocking chair as well. Cushions for the outdoor furniture are kept indoors from Oct-April.

Enjoy a BBQ with our ceramic egg and enjoy the plants and statuary in the garden. The front porch offers views of Mount Rainier when visible. The back deck faces the water, is very private and offers one of the best views in Tacoma, from the Cascade Mountains to the Olympics, Vashon and Maury Island, and the Browns Point Lighthouse. You will be amazed at the unobstructed view from the back deck. Enjoy lounging in our new luxury deck furniture and enjoy the propane fire pit when it is a little chilly. Entertain yourself with the Port of Tacoma as you watch the boats and cargo ships that use the sound every day. The scenery is constantly changing and even when raining you will have wonderful views. Look for eagles and hawks. In the summer enjoy the sailboats and watch or enjoy a para sail.

Commencement Cottage is located just a 7 minute walk down to the Commencement Bay Waterfront. From there you can walk, bike, or rollerblade for miles on Ruston Way and go out to eat in the many fabulous restaurants on the waterfront. Just a short 5 mile drive on Ruston Way and you have Point Defiance Park a 702 acre park that is home to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, Fort Nisqually, Vashon Island Ferry, 5 mile drive, hiking trails, tennis, boating, fishing, and beautiful forests to explore. The cottage is quick 5 minute drive to the cute Proctor and 6th Avenue districts, and a 5 minute drive to downtown. We are a 5 minute drive to UPS.

Old town established in 1869 is a short 7 minute walk from the cottage and features restaurants as well. I have a house manual with local activities to enjoy and menus for the Restaurants in Old Town and on Ruston Way waterfront. Commencement View Cottage is located on the very quiet street of North 31st and is set back off of the street so enjoy the peacefulness of this location.

The house is set up with everything needed for you and your guests. Feel free to use my tableware (china, napkins, tablecloths, glassware) for your entertaining. There is plenty of parking. We are one block from the bus line.

Only 3% of rentals are pet friendly. Commencement View cottage is pet friendly with a $100 fee. If you would like to bring a pet please ask me first. More than 1 pet for a total of 2 is $100.

Enjoy all of the amenities of our house including: BBQ, dishwasher, washer/dryer, toiletries board games, WII, Digital t.v. (40 channels), movies, and DVD;s, Netflix. A large chess/checker set, stereo, iron, bath scale, crib, highchair, picnic supplies, linens, and dishes for entertaining, pans, spices and oils so you can feel comfortable cooking in our new kitchen with gas appliances.

Stay in a beautiful, modern apartment located in Tacoma’s gorgeous , historic Stadium District! The apartment is renovated and fully furnished. The laundry facility is located just an elevator ride away!

The rental is located a few blocks from Wright Park, the Commencement Bay Waterfront, and Old Town Tacoma. We are also a short distance from Downtown Tacoma and I5. Seattle is 45 minutes away and the Tacoma Mall is about 20. Point Defiance, Ruston Way and Chambers Bay are also pretty close if you want an outdoor adventure. We are extremely close to many great restaurants, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and bars, for indoor fun, relaxation, and delicious food! Some gems in the neighborhood are Stadium Thriftway, Ranko's Pharmacy, Art House Cafe, Shake Shake Shake and Indo Asian Street Eatery.

I was with 3 15 year old boys and so we decided not to stay there and we drove back to my sister’s house and drove to the ski slopes from there. Welcome! Our beautifully remodeled cottage is located on the property where we live, situated in an area first developed by the timber barons of the Northwest. Conveniently located just a mile and half off of Interstate 5, but worlds apart! Close proximity to JBLM, Thornewood Castle, Pacific Lutheran University, Chambers Bay, The Tacoma Country Club, American Lake, Gravelly Lake and Lake Steilacoom. The property is very private and secluded, but is just a mile and a half to Safeway, Starbucks and local restaurants...perfect midway point for travelers wanting to enjoy Seattle and Mt. The cottage is a stand alone building located next door to our main home, but is its own private oasis...safely tucked back behind a gate, with plenty of safe off street security lit parking for our guests. Perfect for single travelers with safety concerns...

The cottage features a Queen sized bed upstairs and a beautiful Restoration Hardware Queen size hide a bed downstairs. Coupled with the memory foam topper provided, it’s pure comfort...the newly remodeled bathroom - with shower, is located upstairs but, can be accessed without seeing the guests in the upstairs bed...there are two smart t.v.’s - one up and one down...

Beautiful, well-appointed home in a quiet neighborhood in Enumclaw. The home is in a great location within this quaint small town, only a few minutes from the shopping and restaurants downtown and just down the road from Pinnacle Peak (local-favorite trail). Enumclaw is centrally located between Crystal Mountain, Mount Rainier, Snoqualmie, and Downtown Seattle (or Tacoma) and is near Muckleshoot Casino and White River Amphitheatre - Lots of options for all types of PNW fun!!
It’s a great basecamp location for those want to be close to multiple peaks/national parks/sites but still connected (high speed internet) with multiple dining options in town. The home is also great for those days you want to stay in and lounge around. There is a big comfy couch and a 55” wall mounted TV in the living room where you can sign in to your Netflix/Hulu/Youtube/Amazon accounts and binge watch your favorite shows while curled up under one of the Pendleton blankets! There is also a “reading nook” in the corner of the main bedroom or a couple of Adirondack chairs on the covered deck facing the sunset if that is more your style. A fully functioning and well-appointed kitchen will serve you well if you plan to stay in and eat in the home. There is a Keurig stocked with lots of coffee/tea/cocoa, a blender, a toaster, some spices and oils for cooking, etc. Garage access is also included with your stay so whether you are skiing, hiking, or just trying to escape the elements of the day, parking in the garage should provide an added layer of convenience.

Guests will get key to their own private bedroom, and have that room all to themselves. They will share a dedicated bathroom with just one other guest, from the room across the hall.

All guests have access to the kitchen, living room, parking spaces in fenced yard, patio/garden area.

During your stay
We live in the unit to the left of this property and our house manager lives in the unit to the right. The house manager handles initial check-in for guests.

We give our guests privacy and don't mind if we don't see them much, but we are also interested in cooking for guests and having a shared meal weekly with them, especially long term guests. We will sometimes access the guest house to maintain the house and access items we have stored there.

The room has a queen bed, 43" TV, a table, a dresser, a minifridge and microwave. Guests are also encouraged to use the living room for relaxation. The house is nestled in a landscaped 1/2-acre garden, so the room offers a peaceful night's rest. With easy access to I-5 and 10 minutes from downtown Tacoma, my home is an ideal starting point for exploring Mt. Rainier, the Olympic Peninsula, Hood Canal, Seattle and other sites. Note: The room is on the 2nd floor and only accessible via stairs.

The space
The house was built in 1934 by a gentleman who owned a lumber mill in Tacoma. He used it as a country retreat for him and his family. It was originally set on 5 acres, but over the years it has slowly been reduced to being on a 1/2-acre lot. Nonetheless, it still has the feel of a country retreat, but in the city. The property is dominated by a giant 100-year-old oak tree, which is why I've given it the name of Oak Cottage. I'm sure you'll enjoy staying here. Noel Koran, owner and proprietor

RESPECT quiet hours regardless of the day and time!
Quiet hours are from 8PM - 7AM Sunday - Friday.
This means when in the room, no blasting music or loud banging, or speaker phone conversation/conference calls.
- All use of kitchen appliances is welcome BUT CLEAN your mess and put the dishes away where you found them! Failure to do so will result in verbal warnings and failure after that will result in extra cleaning fees additional to stay. Failure after this will result in termination of your stay.
- All common areas are available for use and enjoyment.
- Absolutely NO vape inside.
- No smoking, vaping, hooka, E-pen, or any smoking related activities inside. ZERO tolerance. You may smoke off of the property. Even if it is raining, NO smoking is allowed. Any violation of this rule is subject to termination of your stay and a potential fine by Airbnb.
- Clean messes that you make on stoves, in microwaves, etc.
- Please refrain from loud inappropriate language as kids are within the neighborhood.
- If you're unsure about anything, please ask. Better to ask for permission than to ask for forgiveness.
- Please be sure to close all windows and external doors when not in active use (bathroom, bedroom, balcony, deck doors, etc.)
- Also there is a set heating temperature schedule. If the room is too hot or too cold please consult with me before yanking the windows open to let the climate controls out. This can and may result in additional fees.

Stay in our classic Tacoma craftsman home in Hilltop. We’re an LGBTQ+ family with 3 friendly dogs (they take hosting seriously, expect tail wags!).

Under 2 from all local major hospitals, ideal for travel nurses or medical visits. Light rail stop is just 5 blocks away, and you’ll find groceries, coffee, and restaurants within walking or biking distance.

The house has cozy rooms, wood details, and a lived-in charm feeling more like “home” that’s on a quiet street, but still close to downtown

You’ll have a queen size bed, two big closets, and a small living room space with a TV that includes streaming services. The entire upstairs is yours. Skylights let in extra light and also lull you to sleep on rainy days.

You’ll have access to the kitchen, your own bathroom (shared with guests but not us), back deck and yard, front porch, dining room, and basically the whole house but our bedroom and guest bedroom.

We also have a bike and kayak you can use if you want.
