This is an intimate cottage on the ocean. You can fish for salmon and halibut, kayak among seals, mountain bike as far as you like, surf , go whale watching or enjoy a quiet evening in the hot tub or in front of the indoor fireplace.

We have a 1.2 acre south facing property on Sooke Basin, a protected bay off of the Pacific. It's salt water but you'd think that it was a lake. Calm as a mill pond most days. You'll wake to the sounds of ducks, geese, swans, eagles and snorting seals.

We're located in Saseenos which is in a microclimate known to have the sunniest and mildest winters in Canada.

The cottage is set on an oceanfront corner of our property, with the main house set further back and on the other side of a fence. Although this is a shared property, you'll have lots of privacy.

The cottage is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults. The bedroom has a queen bed. The main room consists of a kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook, except food. Coffee and tea are provided. There is a dishwasher. The bathroom has a soaker tub and a separate shower. Linens and towels are provided. There is a new private hot tub on the cottage deck on the ocean side. We have a large 220 foot dock and a smaller deck that you are welcome to utilize. There is a rocky beach when it's low tide. The kayaks and lifejackets are available to use. Lots of charters available nearby if you'd like to go whale watching or fishing.

If you like to stay busy, there's lots to do. The Galloping Goose Trail is at the end of our street and is perfect for a morning run, bike ride or hike. The town of Sooke has fabulous restaurants and the nearby beaches are breathtaking.

You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere but we're 5 minutes from the town of Sooke where you'll find grocery and liquor stores, Shopper's Drug Mart, banks, Tim Horton's and a variety of other stores/restaurants. Costco and other favorite stores are about 20 minutes away. We're 25 minutes to downtown Victoria.

This is truly paradise. The cabin can be used year round. This specific area of Sooke is known to have milder winters and the summers are often warm and sunny.

Our Esplanade renovation was completed in December 2018 and boasts a 1400 square foot ground-level suite with a full custom kitchen, including stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, and under cabinet lighting. The master bedroom includes a king size bed with a three-piece ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom includes two single beds. The main three-piece bathroom includes a full-sized tub. Other amenities include a gas fireplace in the living room, heated tiled floors in the bathrooms, and a separate washer and dryer. We pride ourselves on providing an impeccably clean suite for our guests.

Our Esplanade Beach Suite is located on the waterfront in the exclusive township of Oak Bay, and is just a seven minute drive to downtown Victoria. The Neighbourhood

Many consider this to be one of the best ocean view locations and walking and cycling locations in Victoria. Lush forests are only a few minutes’ walk from our front door. The location is secluded, tranquil to the point that there is total absence of noise, yet close to Cadboro Bay village for groceries, paddle board rentals, Starbucks, a pub and excellent restaurants. We are close to amenities, 6 minute drive to University of Victoria, Uplands Golf course, and 20 minutes to downtown Victoria.
There are 3 water access points very close to the Suite, including famous Smugglers cove beach just around the corner.

Getting Around

You preferably would want a car or bike to get around as the nearest bus stop is a 20 minute walk from our house, Cadboro Bay village is 3km.

Other Things to Note

The suite is quiet and comfortable, however the house is newer construction but is not completely sound proof. We live upstairs but try our best to be quiet and respectful and ask that in return.

My family lives directly above this suite and we love hosting great people that are clean, quiet and courteous. Please respect the neighborhood and our neighbors by not being loud or littering outside the home. We are friends with our neighbors and value our relationship with them. No unregistered guests allowed. Take shoes off inside, its just hygienic. Please keep the property and all furnishings in good order. Only use appliances for their intended uses.

Beyond our fully fenced gardens, there is easy access to the sea shore and our sheltered bay, where seals bask on rocks, eagles soar, ducks and birds come to play.

Our spacious 600 sq ft ground floor studio comes with a well equipped kitchenette, living area with queen sofa bed, a cosy queen bed area and bathroom with shower. Through the sliding doors to a fenced garden and area, our sea side garden is ready for your enjoyment under the gazebo and other sitting areas by the sea. The cell service is a little hit and miss but there is WIFI for you to link to. There is parking for multiple vehicles or trailer. We do allow smoking outdoors but have strict rules. There is no cable TV but there is a streaming device and movies.

During the hotter months campfires are not allowed. A propane fire pit is provided but unfortunately the propane is not. We do provide a tank but it would be up to the guest to have it exchanged for a full one at our local corner store.

A wagon load of wood is provided for the indoor fireplace. We have large bins of firewood in the shed for $20. E-transfer is preferred for payment, the email address is located on the fridge. Please send a quick message and we will respond with the lock box code.

We are pet friendly but ask that you respect our rules. There is an extra fee of $30/pet, ***please add this fee when booking. All pets have to be kept in close proximity (not free to roam) or on leash when outside. We ask that you use the shovel provided to flick into the bushes. We really dislike having to handle left behind bagged dog poop.

The space

This brand new, 645 sq foot, one bedroom private suite has a brand new Sterns and Foster Queen bed in the bedroom, while the living room has a sectional (with a double sofa bed pull out). You can watch your favourite movie or show on the 55 LED Samsung TV (there is also a Google Chromecast attached to the TV so you watch your Netflix, Crave, etc) or use the office space for your business needs, with free high speed internet (Internet 300 - really fast internet).

You will have use of a fully stocked kitchen with complimentary coffee (Tassimo and Keurig machine) and tea as well as toast, waffles, granola bars, cereal, eggs and oatmeal for breakfast. The kitchen has all the amenities you need; a full stove, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, toaster, and pots/pans, with all the kitchenware and glassware you need. The living room is full of natural light and has a brand new sectional couch (can be used as a pull out double sofa bed) for you to rest your weary head. You have a bright, clean and modern full bathroom with a combination bathtub and shower. There is also a stackable washer and dryer for those long stays (with complimentary soap and fabric softner). Enjoy your glass of wine as you gaze out the giant and picturesque living room window as you try to spot the eagles soaring high protecting their Eagle's Nest in the distance.

Finalyson for views of the entire region. As secluded as you may feel, we are located just 5 mins from amenities in Langford (shopping, restaurants, movies ect) and 15 mins from downtown Victoria. Only 1 km from Highway 1, this is a great access point to explore the southern part of the island - 20mins from Sooke, 15 mins from Mill Bay, 20 mins from Cowichan Valley, 50 mins from Nanaimo.

There is a dishwasher and in suite washer/dryer for your convenience - we will provide laundry and dish soap to ensure the soap is eco-friendly (we are on a septic system and we cherish our deliciously clean well water).
