Built almost 700 feet up with panoramic views of mountains and Lake Quamichan, this very private walk out ground level space with a private entrance has one or two bedrooms available. Both bedrooms have large closets and plenty of storage in the form of cabinets and armoires. In this almost 900 SF suite there is a large private family room with comfortable leather recliner chairs, a leather recliner couch, a 46 inch TV with cable, Netflix, Prime, HBO, Crave and unlimited high speed internet access.

When you arrive you will be greeted with a bottle of wine, a loaf of fresh baked bread and home made preserves from local picked fruit.

The nightly rate is for one bedroom and two people. If you wish to book the second room, there is an additional $100 fee per night. We have a maximum capacity of four adults per night. Property is not suitable for young children or pets.

During the last two years, there has been a new subdivision being built in the many acres of land behind our home. There may be construction on these homes during your stay but they are respectful to work within normal work hours and trying to keep noise to a minimum.We look forward to having you visit us and stay in the place we love to call home.

Trailside Villa Suite is located in an upscale area in our City of Duncan BC Canada. Our suite is private , with a key lock entry. You will not share the space with anyone else. We have approx 400 sq. Ft. of living space for the unit. There is a private bedroom with a queen bed and also a double sofa bed in the sitting room. The quests are happy with the 4 piece bathroom , as some like to soak in the tub at the end of a big day. The little kitchen area has all the essentials for a microwave meal, coffee, tea, toast etc. The suite is on the garden side of our home where you will enjoy our pond , bushes and flowers as well as your private outside deck which is very peaceful . We are close to the hospital, grocery stores, laundry mat, restaurants and pubs. Our charming cottage is set amongst other cottages in the forest alongside the Koksilah River. The surroundings are beautiful and serene.
The cottage sleeps six and on the main floor offers a bedroom (queen), bathroom (heated floor, refurbished 80 year old claw foot tub and shower. Kitchen (gas range, full size fridge), dining and living area (wood burning stove). The upstairs loft is open and airy with views of the forest and the river. It is accessed by ladder stairs that may be tricky for younger children. It features 2 queen sized beds and a family area.
At the back of the cottage, through French doors off of the kitchen and dining area there are two decks overlooking the forest and the river. There you will find a Weber barbecue, fire table and outdoor furniture that you can enjoy as you sit back and take in the view, the soothing sounds of the river, and quite simply… nature.
The cottage is a retreat to return to after a day of antiquing, enjoying the water hole at the river, swimming in nearby Shawnigan Lake or touring wineries, local markets… perhaps a lavender farm. The Kinsol Trestle is about a 20 minute walk and if you prefer a longer hike, you can continue on for miles in the woods along well-groomed paths.
Although the cottage is tucked away, it is close to abundant shopping including:
Cobble Hill, approximately 15 minutes away, offers groceries and amazing fresh roasted coffee.

With trails nearby, and some even attached, yet still close to all amenities in Cowichan and Langford, we like to think we have it all here! The space
Entering this welcoming home you can park under the covered carport and walk right into the front door where you'll find lovely natural wood finishes, and neutral, bright tones. Downstairs is the laundry closet, and master bedroom- which features a walk-in closet, ensuite bathroom, electric fireplace, and access to the hot tub deck and a lovely propane firepit area. As you continue exploring upstairs you'll find a cozy games corner, a second bathroom and a bedroom. You will also come across an open-concept kitchen, living room, and dining room. Off the kitchen, we have a great covered patio space with a table and seating, as well as a barbeque and large patio cooler. Atop a steep set of stairs from the living room is an adorable loft space, perfect for hiding out with a great book!

Within a 10-minute drive to world famous Malahat Skywalk, as well as two beautiful BC provincial parks; Spectacle Lake (with great swimming) and Goldstream (with water falls, a salmon run in the fall and incredible hiking all year)

We are located only 15 minutes from the heart of Langford, which boasts natural beauty galore, and many delicious restaurants, great shopping, parks, green spaces, and lakes.

Only 30 minutes from the Victoria Harbour, we are a great escape from the noise of the city, but close enough for easy day trips or a nice dinner out.

Being apart of the Cowichan Valley we are also near many incredible vineyards and breweries. Well worth a tour. Also worth a stop is the Duncan Farmers Market if you're here on a Saturday.

Guest access
Guests have access to the outdoor space just around the home, including the propane firepit area, carport, and a small yard behind the cabin. Not included is the garage space inside building (separate entrances) or the playground below, due to insurance and liability concerns.

Other things to note
This home is located off of the Malahat highway and does have some minor noise pollution, which can be heard while you enjoy the outdoor spaces. Since we are surrounded by mountains and nature, with that comes creatures at times. They leave you alone but may build a web or fly through windows if you leave them open during your stay. If you are sensitive to either we recommend finding somewhere a little more boring to stay.

The full kitchen has everything you need, including condiments and breakfast items. There is a full sized BBQ on the private deck. Enjoy a hot rain shower before savouring your tea or Nespresso coffee on the balcony overlooking the Arbutus and Garry Oak forest.

Parking is free and safe, and the suite has a washer and dryer with laundry detergent and cleaning supplies. The bathroom has everything you need, including soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.

A 10-minute walk will take you to the tennis and pickleball courts, and a 20-minute walk will take you to the ocean beach, where our local pub, The Lion Rampant, is conveniently located. Behind the property is a municipality-maintained hike that takes you to the top of Maple Mountain with views of Maple Bay and Salt Spring Island. A short drive will take you to the popular mountain bike trails on Maple Mountain (https://www.ridecowichan.com/maple).

Our comfortable one bedroom suite has everything you need to relax, and experience the beauty of vancouver island, with the ocean and a forest hike within walking distance. This is a family friendly space with televisions in the bedroom and living room, board games, bluetooth stereo and a dedicated work station. There are numerous wineries close by, noteably cherry point estates two minutes down the road. The suite does not share any of our indoor spaces, it is located on the first floor of our three floor home and includes dedicated laundry.

We are a short walk to the Shawnigan Lake private school grounds and endless nature trails. A mushroom lover's paradise in the fall, and many animals to see year-round. Deer often sleep next to the cabin in the warmer months. We have a blue heron that likes to fish in our Koi pond, as well as rabbits, quail, lizards, and once in a while, a friendly bear may even walk through the neighbourhood.
Just 4 minutes from Mason Beach Park and The Black Swan Pub/Liquor Store. Shawnigan Village is only 5 minutes away, with various restaurants, a cafe, gas station, and more. Even closer is the beautiful Lakehouse Restaurant within a 2-minute drive or a 20-minute walk. They have a stunning view of the lake and fantastic food and beverage menus.
Don't forget to prebook at our neighbouring NYÜBU spa for the full retreat experience and enjoy their sauna and cold plunge circuit. They offer both community sessions for $30 or private rentals. They have become very popular, so be sure to book in advance.

The Wobbly Hobbit is a unique example of a sustainable construction method using clay, straw and sand that is hand sculpted to build this gem in the forest. An accessible living roof is a great place to spot the deer that meander through the forest. The studio has a functional kitchen, double bed and seating for the streaming TV service and is steps away from the detached bath house that houses a sink, composting toilet and a wine barrel shower. Have a hot tub after a full day of taking in the sights of the beautiful Cowichan Valley. Huge bedroom with a queen sized bed, work desk, loveseat and small table. I have put a microwave, kettle and mini fridge in the living area, as a small kitchenette. The bathroom is for guests only, and if there is another booking you may share with the other travellers. Bathroom is serviced daily.
The large guest kitchen is just for you, with a fridge & appliances, and if you need freezer space just ask!

We're located in a rural setting, ten minutes north of Duncan. This a two acre property on the base of Mt. Prevost and Mt. Sicker, intermittently run as a hobby farm with various farm animals, along with the family dog (Sawyer) and cat (Finnegan).
Hiking trails nearby. Ten minute drive to shopping centre and downtown Duncan. Direct highway access and scenic rural routes.
Excellent location for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids) a nice rural farm experience!

The space
900 hundred square foot one bedroom, full kitchen, full bathroom private suite. Rustic traditional decor with television, internet and private entry. Come and go as you please (quiet after 11:00 p.m.). Hot tub available year round. Sheets, towels and basic breakfast provided for the first day or two.

Although this is a pet friendly accommodation, there are specific rules and guidelines to follow.
1. It is by pre-approval, on a case by case basis.
2. Pets are not permitted on furniture, on or in the bed, or in the bedroom.
3. Pets cannot be left to roam freely about the suite when guests are absent. We have an indoor and outdoor kennel for use if required.
4. Living in a farming neighbourhood, pets must be leashed and supervised at all times.

The suite is located on the lower floor of our home. Being underneath our living space, you will hear noises of day to day living, walking, toilets flushing, talking, occasionally the television, as we will also hear guests at times. If you are sensitive to noise, or are a light sleeper, this may be less than ideal for you. However, as our reviews show, the majority of our guests have loved the space and and have not found the noise excessive. Guests will not have access to the upstairs, and will have all the amenities necessary in the suite.
Advance notice for use of the hot tub (located on the back deck adjoining hosts living space) is requested.
A fire pit and dry firewood is available if you have an interest in an outdoor fire. We will be happy to assist.

Welcome to Shawnigan Woods. Our well-appointed country home is located in the rural community of Shawnigan Lake, just a 50 minute drive north of Victoria, via the ultra-scenic Malahat Drive. Situated at the back of 3 naturally forested acres, the home affords privacy on all sides and with it ~ a sense of calm and retreat.

Our private guest room is like a small luxury hotel room with its own private entrance, wrap around deck, 4-piece en-suite bathroom with heated tile floor, fully equipped kitchenette with farmhouse sink for food prep and washing up. Open the double glass doors to let in the purest air you can imagine and enjoy the views over the natural west coast forest. You will love the luxurious beauty-rest mattress, hotel quality linens, duvet and heavenly comfort memory foam pillows. Get ready for the best sleep of your life with only the birds to wake you up!

The room is equipped with a breakfast bar, including; a small fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker, and toaster. There is an electric BBQ on the deck and a small bistro table for outdoor dining. Coffee and Tea supplies as well as dishes, cutlery, wine glasses, and BBQ utensils are in the room. Dishes may be washed up in the farmhouse sink in the Ensuite bathroom with dish towel, dish cloth, and biodegradable dish soap provided.

The surrounding Shawnigan Lake rural area and Village are fun to explore and if you would like to take local transit the bus route runs very nearby the house for pick-up and drop-off. A 5 minute drive or a 15 minute bicycle ride will take you to Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park where there is an expansive green space for outdoor relaxation and recreation and a nice, clean, swimming beach which has the sun until 4 pm every afternoon. You will walk through a magical old growth forest of cedars and fir to come out into the clearing of this pristine provincial lakeside park.

You must not forget a day excursion to see the Koksilah River Provincial Park and the unique and awe-inspiring Kinsol Railway Trestle. Walking over this trestle, which has recently been completely renewed into an expansive pedestrian bridge, you will gaze down on the rapids in the river. When you walk the trestle and cross over to the trail on the other side you will be traversing one of the most picturesque sections of our glorious Trans-Canada Trail.

Don't forget shopping and eating! Charming and quaint shopping areas are located close by in Shawnigan Village (4 km) and Cobble Hill Village (8 km). A good size shopping centre is located in Mill Bay (12 km). Here in Mill Bay you will also find a mile long stretch of easy walking beach which has a gorgeous view across the Bay and looks down toward Finlayson Arm. The Village of Cowichan Bay, offer kayak rentals and lots of small cafes and seafood eateries and the town of Duncan with its own very quaint downtown area also has several shopping malls both in town and just outside of town. Cowichan Bay and Duncan are a 20 minute drive N.

During your stay
We like to take our cue from our guests, i.e. on days when we are relaxing in our own home we are happy to spend some time conversing and sharing with our guests. Often however, we will be either working in our home office or working off-site, so we are likely to see you only in the morning and evening as you come and go from the shared parking area, or if you are sitting outside on the front part of your wrap-around deck.

Other things to note
1. We have security gates which open toward the road, i.e., they open toward your vehicle. Be sure to leave enough room for them to open!

2. We have a steep driveway and it is gravel. In the winter months it can be difficult to drive up the driveway unless you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and all-weather tires. Please don't hesitate halfway up the driveway! There is lots of room to park at the top.

3. This is a Non-smoking Property (strictly enforced) and the Guest Room listing is a Non-Pet Listing. We do not have pets in the main apartment, as is our personal preference, but there may be short or long-stay tenants living in one of our two lower self-contained suites who may have pets. If that is the case, the pets will be leashed when outdoors.

4. We try to minimize all organic and inorganic waste. To this end, we will ask you to place your compost in a compost bin, and your recycling in a recycle bin. Thank You!

5. Guests must use Exterior Staircase with 12 Steps to access Private Space

When attending a wedding we may request a damage deposit of $150 that we will give back to you upon a final suite inspection at the end of your stay. In the past our linens have been badly damaged, so we expect you to leave the suite in the condition that you find it in.

The entire suite, carport, gardens, and front lawn is for your use. Carport accesses the deck and house, with a house key in the lockbox at this entrance.

Other things to note
Our family of 4 with 2 small children (6 and 4 years old) lives in the suite below you so please be mindful of this. Although we have a soundproof barrier we can hear if you jump or make a lot of noise

We want your stay to be comfortable and we provide quality linens so please take care of them. If you have a toddler who is still potty training we can provide you with a top sheet so the mattresses stay free of stains and nice and clean.

A Weber barbeque (Q1000) is available for use in your outdoor patio space

My home is within walking distance to bus service and shopping. It is a short drive to the hospital, university, hiking trails, rivers, lakes. Some tourist attractions are a within a 2 km radius. Lake Cowichan is a 21 minute drive. Victoria is a 58 min drive. Nanaimo is a 41 min drive. There is clean drinking water straight from the taps. This is a quiet, safe neighbourhood. There is ample parking on the street and in my driveway. I also have storage space for bicycles if need be.

The space
This is a single room with one queen size bed in the upstairs of my townhouse,
where I live. You are welcome to use the kitchen and dining areas of my home. The room is suitable for a couple who share a bed or a single person. This neighborhood is very quiet and safe. My house is one side of a duplex, so I share a wall with the other half who both work during the day and are quiet. There is no private entry and you will enter through the front door into the open space first floor. I will usually be there to welcome you but I may be out or upstairs depending on your arrival time

The bedroom is upstairs to the right at the top of the stairs. You will have access to my kitchen, diningroom, bathroom and patio. You may share my kitchen utensils, pots, pans, dishes, glassware, stove, microwave and refrigerator. You have a dedicated bathroom with a shower and bathtub for your use only. At checkin you will enter through my front door into my open concept home. If I am home, I will show you to your room and be available in person, by text or by phone if you are having problems or any issues with the space.

I am available for questions if you need assistance. Otherwise, I keep to myself doing my own business. I am usually downstairs and watching TV, cooking or going about my business . If you need anything or you have any issues withe the space, please let me know by talking to me or sending me a text.

I do not ask guests about their preferences. I assume if you are booking a room with one bed that you are comfortable sleeping together. I don't ask. This is not a party house as it is my home and if you are not comfortable sharing my space with me, then I suggest that you look for a private suite elsewhere. The space
27 Foot RV with queen bedroom in front and double bunk on the bottom and single bunk on top. Sleeps 5. The bathroom has a toilet sink and tub/shower. This is our family RV that we’ve decided to vacation out. So there may be a few old stickers on the wall or a scratch here and there. But it’s cozy, comfy and has Air conditioning if desired. There is no laundry in the RV but we can provide access to machines in an emergency and once for stays 5 days or longer. There is a local laundromat in our town as well. RV will have a Keurig and K-pods available. We are 420 friendly but outside the RV only please.

This year we want to offer our RV for a budget friendly holiday on Vancouver Island. Somewhere to rest after a day of exploring. A cost friendly place to be able see some of the west coasts beautiful spots . As much as I feel like a queen when I’m camping in my RV , please understand this is a modest stay. Nothing flashy or fancy. But it’s steps to the ocean, mins from beautiful hikes, within a 1.5 hour drive to Victoria or Coombs to see the goats on a roof. And if you leave early enough you can get all the way to Tofino and back in one day. See surfers along the coast line between Tofino and Ucluelet. Sample some yummy food trucks out the while you explore.

Bedding is supplied, kitchen towels supplied, toilet paper supplied, beach towels available.

We also have two old but sturdy kayaks and one inflatable paddle board available to use with a few small conditions as well.
