Our charming cottage is set amongst other cottages in the forest alongside the Koksilah River. The surroundings are beautiful and serene.
The cottage sleeps six and on the main floor offers a bedroom (queen), bathroom (heated floor, refurbished 80 year old claw foot tub and shower. Kitchen (gas range, full size fridge), dining and living area (wood burning stove). The upstairs loft is open and airy with views of the forest and the river. It is accessed by ladder stairs that may be tricky for younger children. It features 2 queen sized beds and a family area.
At the back of the cottage, through French doors off of the kitchen and dining area there are two decks overlooking the forest and the river. There you will find a Weber barbecue, fire table and outdoor furniture that you can enjoy as you sit back and take in the view, the soothing sounds of the river, and quite simply… nature.
The cottage is a retreat to return to after a day of antiquing, enjoying the water hole at the river, swimming in nearby Shawnigan Lake or touring wineries, local markets… perhaps a lavender farm. The Kinsol Trestle is about a 20 minute walk and if you prefer a longer hike, you can continue on for miles in the woods along well-groomed paths.
Although the cottage is tucked away, it is close to abundant shopping including:
Cobble Hill, approximately 15 minutes away, offers groceries and amazing fresh roasted coffee.
- Cowichan Bay, approximately 20 minutes away, is on the ocean and offers restaurants, bakeries, shops… even ocean kayaking.
Duncan is approximately a 30 minute drive north. On Saturdays in the spring, summer and fall, there is an amazing farmers market.

Nestled in the Beach Estates, take a forest trail leading from behind the cabin to the Shawnigan Athletic Park and playground. We are a short walk to the Shawnigan Lake private school grounds and endless nature trails. A mushroom lover's paradise in the fall, and many animals to see year-round. Deer often sleep next to the cabin in the warmer months. We have a blue heron that likes to fish in our Koi pond, as well as rabbits, quail, lizards, and once in a while, a friendly bear may even walk through the neighbourhood.
Just 4 minutes from Mason Beach Park and The Black Swan Pub/Liquor Store. Shawnigan Village is only 5 minutes away, with various restaurants, a cafe, gas station, and more. Even closer is the beautiful Lakehouse Restaurant within a 2-minute drive or a 20-minute walk. They have a stunning view of the lake and fantastic food and beverage menus.
Don't forget to prebook at our neighbouring NYÜBU spa for the full retreat experience and enjoy their sauna and cold plunge circuit. They offer both community sessions for $30 or private rentals. They have become very popular, so be sure to book in advance.

Our tiny well appointed cottage has been curated for comfort, ease and maximum fun. You’ll enjoy sun filled days on the water, ride a jet ski, hop on a SUP, play on the water trampoline, snorkel, lounge on the dock, go antique shopping, dine at nearby eateries or tour the local wineries. It's our slice of heaven.

Sleeping arrangements include open concept 1 queen bed and 1 twin bed in main cottage with kitchen + bath. Separately 1 queen bed in cedar barrel next to the main cottage.

Enjoy some time away from the busy city and come relax at Shawnigan lake. This basement suite offers ll the comforts of home including purified water, air conditioning and Wi-fi. Start the day off by enjoying your coffee on the wharf and see where the day takes you. Maybe take the kayaks out for a picnic on Memory Island, and come back and soak in the covered hot tub. Or bring your bikes and take a ride on the Canada trail and check out the Kinsol Trestle. Or stay close to the property and relax the day away. If you'd like to swim I highly recommend bringing a floatie so that you can keep your feet off the bottom of the lake. Once you get out of the bay the lake does get deeper and less mucky. Then after dinner relax by the fire or propane fire pit (depending on fire regulations), and take in the all the stars that you don't always see in the city.
We are about 10 mins from Mason's Store and The Black Swan that offers a Cold Beer and Wine store incase you've forgotten anything. The Lakehouse Restaurant is about a 5 min drive down the road if you aren't into cooking. As well there are beautiful wineries and restaurants and food trucks in the valley that are worth checking out.
We want you to enjoy your time at the lake and will do our best to be out of your way so you have a private experience. But know I'm not far if you have any questions or concerns.
PS We do require a waiver to be signed prior to using the kayaks and hot tub. Kayak rental and primary firewood are included in the price of your stay.

Discover the beauty of the Cowichan Valley with a stay at our cabin nestled just beneath Mount Prevost. We are surrounded by farmland with easy access to the valley's renowned wineries, and hiking and mountain biking trails. The cabin is an old horse barn which we converted and lived in for a year. There are two other residences on the property. Whether you're seeking outdoor adventures with family or a peaceful retreat, we look forward to hosting you. The cabin has a loft with a bed, a dining area, full kitchen and bathroom. Please keep in mind that the stairs to the loft are steep and the second 'bedroom' is our 1991 Red Eurovan which is adjacent to the barn. We live on the same property which is 2.5 acres. You are welcome to walk around and use the space. Milo our dog lives on the property and may be roaming around. He likes to visit newcomers. He may bark but is friendly with other dogs and people. If you’d prefer not to have an interaction with him just let us know beforehand. We also have a cat, Oskar. He is ginger and also likes to visit!
