- "Absolutely fantastic place. The home is very well thought out and is so charming and cozy. I can’t say enough good things about Grant or his property. I am a little hesitant to talk it up too much only because I want it to be available next time I have vacation time. Thanks!" - "Our stay in Grant’s island hillside cabin was wonderful! What a treasure this spot is. The cabin and grounds are charming and beautiful. I love that this is a unique place with a welcoming Home feel- no stark white/gray boring cookie cutter feels here! Uppity folk probably not well suited(you know who you are lol) Lots of stairs inside and out (as listed) so make sure that is accessible for everyone in your party. Grant is kind and very helpful, our check in was great with tidbits info we could make use of during our stay. The wood stove is gorgeous and easy to use with plentiful wood provided. Our elderly dachshund loved that part the most. The cedar hot tub is glorious. The kitchen is very well stocked with spices, utensils and cookware. Views all over and the Quiet was really enjoyed. This was a memorable trip for our little fam. Thanks Grant!"

- "The view is spectacular! We enjoyed the view and quiet!" - "We absolutely loved our stay in this cottage on Lummi Island. The decor is quirky and fun and the location cannot be beat. It was also exceptionally clean and the beds were very comfortable. We spent hours in the adirondack chairs over looking the water and Mt Baker. We stayed during the week so there was not any restaurant or cafe to eat at, but the local store was suprisingly well stocked. Great spot and we can't wait to return!"

Would highly recommend." - "We thoroughly enjoyed having a warm fire in the fire place, relaxing in the hot tub, and having plenty of kitchen space for preparing meals! Quiet and cozy cabin, minutes to trailheads and Bellingham.
Cabin
Bellingham, Washington, USA

Disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in our cabin hideaway. Our cabin is situated amongst the top of the treeline, with not another house in sight from any windows! Enjoy sitting on the deck, drinking your morning coffee, while listening to the birds sing all around you.

Our home is a short and scenic drive to Lake Whatcom, to enjoy days sitting by the water. Hiking more your thing? The Stimpson Family Nature Preserve trailhead is a quick 2 minute walk from the home! You can often hear owls in the preserve talking to one another at night!

The home was designed with communal, family time in thought. Cozy blankets, a wood burning fireplace (we provide the wood!), a fully stocked kitchen, as well as board games and a flat screen tv in the living room- all available for you to enjoy throughout your stay!

Our three bedroom, two full bathroom cabin is perfect for small groups, couples, or families traveling with children. Our home is located on a high hill, and is a tri-level home.

*Please note- we are IN the trees! . The driveway is steep, and a higher clearance vehicle is recommended (although not required- we own a Jetta and it makes it up fine). There is also parking on street, if you do not want to use the driveway, with stairs leading up to the home.

*AWD/4WD, or vehicles with chains, are highly recommended during the winter months, particularly when it snows.

Guest Reviews:

- "This was such a lovely home to stay in during our trip to Bellingham. Even though the home is on a residential street, it feels very private because of all of the surrounding trees. It's about a 20 minute drive to the center of Bellingham, so close enough that you can spend time in town every day, if you want, but also a peaceful place to get away from it all when you want. The driveway is a bit daunting, but you can avoid it completely by parking on the street & using the stairs. There was a storm & power outage while we were there, which resulted in the darkest, quietest, most peaceful night of sleep we've had in a long time. Definitely recommend!"

Guest Reviews:

- "We have stayed in a lot of vacation rentals but this one might be my favourite. The decor was perfect, modern and comfortable. Sometimes the places that will accept dogs are not the best but that was not the case here. Upon arrival I noticed how clean the cottage was and I immediately felt relaxed. The bed was so comfortable it felt like home. The location was close to everything and we enjoyed many of walks around the neighbourhood. We enjoyed drinking our coffee outside each morning and dinners there too. My only regret was not booking a couple more this summer as it is now mostly booked into September."

Guest Reviews:

- "Our stay was awesome! Aaron did a great job of communicating with us and the island ferry was great. The cabin was outstanding. I definitely recommend this." - "The homeowner was communicative and helpful. There was some snow before our visit and the homeowner drove out to check on the property and then called me to let me know what to expect. We really appreciated his efforts to clear the snow for us and make sure we had safe access. He was communicative throughout the visit. The cabin is really pleasant, lots of big windows and natural light. It has a beautiful view overlooking a small lake. There was an error with the listing that I do NOT believe was committed by the homeowner. They seemed as puzzled by it as we were and have since corrected (this is a 2 room, 1 bath, but had somehow been listed as a 4 room). The homeowner said he had never had this issue with the listing before and none of us is sure what happened. Regardless, he responded just as you would hope: apologetic, fair, and willing to make it right. So while I've listed the ad as 3/5 stars, I am confident that it has been corrected and that the homeowners are doing all they can to make sure it is accurate in the future."

Cabin
Lake Whatcom

Feel like you’re in your own hideaway, as you live secluded in the trees.
Leave your cares behind and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature in our spacious and unique cabin “tree home."

Scenic balconies, hiking trails and Lake Whatcom are minutes from your front door!

Whether it’s staying in to relax or hitting up the Stimpson Reserve down the street, you will find our cabin the perfect place for families or traveling couples to find relaxation and refuge.

We’d love to host you soon!

The space
Feel like a kid again when you climb the stairs to our hidden retreat, built right into the tree line! Enjoy morning coffee while siting outside listening to your neighbors sing (the birds)!

Our cabin is a place of refuge and relaxation. It doesn’t get much more private than this! Your views out every window are trees and ferns :) Our home is minutes (walking!) to the Stimpson Family Preserve trailhead and an easy 7-10 min drive to the beaches of Lake Whatcom. There’s also a fantastic frisbee golf course about a 5 minute drive away! Or head into town, a scenic 15 min drive to the main shopping area.

Wake up and relax from one of the three balconies while taking in all the surrounding nature. Or dine in the evening from the comfortable outdoor couch and serving table! This spot is our go-to location to eat as a family and reconnect while chatting about everybody’s “high and low” of our day in the PNW :)

We are in the tree line! Stairs are necessary to take, from the lower parking area, to get to the home- or a higher clearance vehicle for the driveway. AWD or 4WD highly recommended in the winter months, especially if wanting to utilize the driveway.

Guest access
Guests will have full access to the home- bedrooms, bathrooms, full size washer and dryer, and outdoor sitting areas.

Visiting in the winter? Please check local forecasts and plan on an AWD or 4WD vehicle for inclement weather.

Guests are able to access the property by parking on the street and walking up, or by using the driveway. Higher clearance vehicles recommended. We live on a hill and it’s easier to navigate with 4w/AWD vehicles

Other things to note
*Get cozy! - The high ceilings and wall of windows in the living room create a cooler zone (temp wise) in the winter months. We recommend brushing up on your fire making skills to utilize the heat from the wood stove and blower. We provide all the wood and some fire starters to make it easy for you.

*The roads leading through Sudden Valley can be slippery during winter months with snow. Please plan accordingly with your vehicle- AWD/4WD is recommended if snow is in the forecast during your stay.

*Our driveway is *VERY* steep! While some smaller vehicles can make it up year round (like Subarus), during winter/wet months, please plan accordingly with an appropriate vehicle if not wanting to use the stairs to access the home. AWD/4wd recommended! Some lower clearance cars have problems with the steep grade. If you want to be sure to use the driveway, please have a higher clearance car and/or all wheel drive.

*While this is a family friendly cabin, kids should be supervised at all times, particularly outside.

*ALL guests count towards the total guest count, regardless of age.

*The sliding door entry on the main deck and side driveway are equipped with cameras for your safety and ours.
