- "Really nice accommodations, found clean. Well hedged in, never saw or heard a neighbor. Deer eating in lawn daily. Reasonable checkout requests for cleaning. Be warned: VERY steep hill, our mazda cx5 almost lost traction coming up it. So be mindful of limitations and weather." - "Had a great stay. House was great and love the location. " - "The property is beautiful and we had a pleasant stay, but there are a handful of notes that would have turned this into a 5-star experience: 1) The property features two queen size beds and one twin bed. All of the mattresses are STIFF. Not firm, STIFF. We had some pretty rough nights on these. If you can't replace the mattresses, at least include some plush mattress covers. 2) The top tier balcony was off-limits, with P-touch stickers on the door demanding guests not open it. Showing pictures of a balcony that guests aren't allowed to use isn't OK. 3) When we arrived, the dishwasher was still full of dishes with other poorly-washed dishware throughout the kitchen. Either the previous tenant or cleaners didn't do a great job of polishing up after the previous rental. 4) Poor guidance on where to leave garbage on our way out. The digital document had two separate pages referencing where to put trash, both inconsistent, and both inaccurate. Page 7 says "empty trash & take to the garbage bin under the deck", but there was no garbage bin under the deck. Page 25 says "take trash to bin located at end of private drive, just off Oak Bay rd.", but there is no Oak Bay Rd anywhere on Marrowstone Island, or Indian Island, it runs along the east coast of the mainland. The trash bin for the property was actually located where Reef Rd turns off of Fort Gate Rd (48°05'08.9"N 122°42'44.9"W) - a map and and a photo would have helped."

- "Beautiful historical hotel, the rooms were comfortable, the bed too and we liked the vintage style fridge. Because this is a historical building the walls are very thin and you can hear everything! I'd give it a higher rating but the thin walls were an annoyance. Also, no AC in the unit."

Escape in style to the incredible natural beauty and tranquility of the Olympic Peninsula at the Wild Oyster Lodge. This expansive log home, set on high-bank water-front and surrounded by towering pines, provides sweeping views of Hood Canal from its large deck and oversized chef's kitchen. You will enjoy the rugged beauty of the sea and woods from the comfort of this well-appointed, contemporary home with elevated décor and furnishings. It's a perfect jumping off point to explore the Olympic Peninsula.
Wild Oyster Lodge sits on Dabob Bay, a secluded bay on the north Hood Canal, surrounded by protected wilderness and a quarter-mile down the beach from one of Taylor Shellfish's oyster farms. Eagles and seals are your neighbors and the rocky beach (accessible by a long set of stairs, which is quite steep) abounds with fresh oysters. The home is located 15 minutes from Olympic National Park (with Mt. Walker and Canyon Falls trailheads nearby), and the quaint town of Quilcene 10 minutes away. Get out on the pristine waters of Dabob Bay with a pair of kayaks, explore the coastline or make the round trip to nearby Dabob Broad Spit, a boat-access only state park nearby with an incredible 3 story driftwood fort built by campers over decades.
The home has two large bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and bonus room with daybed to provide a comfortable stay for two families or a few groups of friends. The large sunroom and living room provide plenty of space to relax, play games or cozy up near the gas fireplace. One of the highlights of this getaway is the large professional kitchen, with seating for 8, and a granite island for breakfast, oysters or wine tasting. If you prefer outdoor cooking, there is also a Weber gas grill ready for you. Fiber Internet was recently installed, providing super fast speeds to allow for video calls and streaming movies.
Although its seclusion is one of its most unique features, this place may not be for everyone. It's a great place to connect and kick back, but it is intentionally TV- less. The nearby town of Quilcene only offers a few spots to eat and a small but well-supplied market(Quilcene Village Store), so it's recommended to pack groceries before you arrive and take advantage of the indoor/outdoor cooking and dining spaces at The Wild Oyster. The home has 2 outdoor security cameras, a doorbell camera on the front door and a camera monitoring the upper driveway.
- "Spacious and lovely home. Property is secluded, has a water view and beach access. We spent quite a lot of time on the beach, and hardly saw another person. Large windows throughout the house let in natural light, as well as displaying the views. A bald eagle flew by right at eye level when we were in the sunroom and porch area. The kitchen is huge, and there are vaulted ceilings there and in the main living area. The kids loved the fancy bathroom sinks and the extra features like the tent teepee and games and toys. The hot tub was nice for relaxing in the evenings. If you're looking for a place that is quiet and to disconnect, look no further."

Distant from any traffic noise, a more relaxing time would be hard to find. The ideal setting for a relaxing weekend away from the stress of life in the city or as a base camp to explore the beautiful hiking paths and mountains of the Olympic National Forest.
- "This is a lovely property with a fenced in yard, big deck, screened-in porch and great location. We totally enjoyed our time there and highly recommend it to others!" - "From the drive down the beautiful entry road, to the gated sanctuary property this home offered a rustic beauty with everything needed to enjoy the weekend. The property is lush and completely private with a screened porch and fire pit for gatherings. Decorated with a unique nod to nature, the house is roomy and comfortable. The two cabins on the property were such a nice addition. A path surrounds the property that is safe for kids to walk and I''m pretty sure we saw a fairy or two among the fern lined paths. Close to hiking trails and beaches. Quiet. Secluded."

- "We came from California to do a weekend of glamping in the Port Townsend area. The cabin was perfect for our group of 8. It was beautifully designed and immaculately upkept. Ample room to stretch out for all. The kitchen was fully stacked with pans, dishes and utensils. The location is about 20 mins from Port Townsend. Not exactly central but still a stone’s throw away. Our biggest gripe was that communication with the house manager was poor; I was only able to reach them 1 in 4 times and they never responded to any of my voicemail. The property was also difficult to find so a bit more detailed direction would be appreciated. All in all though, the property was gorgeous and worth a visit."

CHARCOAL FIRED SOAKING TUBS + SUMMER COLD PLUNGE
**burn ban permitting, check regs! July/August are typically cold plunge months
***Please read instructions thoroughly BEFORE use. Failure to do so can result in damage and associated fees or additional charges.
~2 communal tubs located each in their own private forest setting
**BRING YOUR OWN CHARCOAL**
~Self serve, works just like a charcoal BBQ.
~With monitoring /stoking comes to temp in 2-3 hrs
~Sign up sheet reserves your private time
~Robes, towels + firestarters for tubs with written instructions
MANAGING EXPECTATIONS:
Every off grid set up it unique, ours is no exception. The experience is simple and real with no modern-day conveniences such as Alexa, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers or hot water this is what nature looks like (ok we do use a little elbow grease but hey I'm pretty sure they had that a hundred years ago!) Headlamps and personal flashlights are a must as there are multiple stairs/entrances and rugged uneven terrain. Warm sturdy clothing and layers are a good idea as well. Cell reception is weak but you usually can get/receive texts and the occasional call. Any mobility issues could make this stay not a good fit as access to the only 'traditional' style bed is via a very steep ladder
The property is shared with others however the spaces are nicely separated and each has its own private outdoor areas.
COMMON AREAS
~ Similar to a campground the rentals do share a regularly serviced portable toilet unit with hand washing sink station adjacent.
~No shower onsite. If you're a shower a day person the state park; Fort Flagler at the northern tip of the island has coin operated showers or down by the general store there's a dock where you can jump in the bay!
~Purchase firewood and charcoal from the VW bus farmstand. Peruse the free book library, borrow a game or puzzle, reserve your hot soak, grab some 9Mile merch, forgot your s'mores fixins? dont worry we got you covered!! this can all be done at the bus. Take care of incidentals V-mo me at: sarah-mortensen-10
~fill your potable water bottles from the garden spigot next to the chicken coop
~Locate the trails to the tubs just up from the sink/potti
~Across from farmstand and coop is a large communal fire ring for larger gatherings (burn ban permitting)
~Hike the properties 5 acres either by trail or bushwhack your own!
The entire property is use at you and any of your guests own risk, one of our only requests as landlord is we do ask that you sign a waiver/release acknowledging this.
We are happy to greet you upon arrival and give you a small tour to familiarize yourself, If this is something you would like please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate. We emphasize that the property is yours to share in its entirety for both you(cabin) and the other rental (tent)renters alike (and in the interest of full disclosure an occasional owl, deer, forest mouse, mosquito, bee, spider, snail, bat or slug will undoubtedly make an appearance).
9Mile Eco House experience may not be for everyone if you are uneasy without your wifi, running water or really any modern day conveniences, or on the contrary if bugs make you fidget, the quiet makes you nervous and you can't roll with occasionally unforecasted wind/fog/rain this may not be your cup of tea, and thats ok!. The cabin is a work in progress and cannot be fully secured(locked). It is made mostly from reclaimed building materials, a steep ladder may make the loft inaccessible to some and has things like antique windows that don't fully latch, bugs get in, hot air gets out. Be honest with yourself, does this listing sound intriguing or terrifying? if the latter please rethink before booking.
Please understand that the camp is undergoing constant improvements & various projects may be underway during your visit. We try to keep it tidy but realistically that just isn't always possible.
- "Stayed the weekend in the cabin. Little stove keeps us warm during a cool weekend in August. Plenty of blanket, kitchen was very well stocked, bed upstairs was so cute and very comfortable. So charming, and quaint with so much character. Out house was very well kept. No power or running water, but just added to that charm. Would totally stay here again! " - "Very well equipped for an off grid experience. Peaceful, beautiful, in the middle of the woods on an island. Super cool!"

- "This was our first time visiting the area and this was the perfect home base for exploring Port Townsend and Olympic National Park. We felt right at home in the lovely and well-appointed studio apartment. We hope to be back in the future." - "So well equipped, we wanted for nothing." - "This was a lovely little getaway for our anniversary - beautiful and peaceful! It was secluded enough to feel like we'd left the world behind but close enough that we could pop out for some cider tasting at Finnriver farms or head into Port Townsend to bob around. All around a lovely place to stay."

- "The little tucked away cabin was in a perfect location, big, beautifully and comfortably furnished. The outside was stunning... almost felt like being in the tropics...just in the Pacific Northwest. Spent most of my time reading out on the deck and hiking all of the varitrails available. Host was super communicative and very nice. Definitely gonna try and come back!" - "The location is marvelous. It is on a beautiful wooded area with privacy on both sides of the property but most importantly a green lush terrain off the back deck with no homes. It has a feel of real cabin living. It is equipped with everything one needs to be comfortable. The back deck is a huge highlight as it is very large looking out to the green terrain, surrounded by trees, equipped with a grill and heat lamp as well as a full outside table with chairs and two additional wicker chairs to lounge. - "Arriving at the cabin, don’t be deterred by the “No Trespassing” sign before it. Otherwise getting there was painless. When checking in the outside was nice and wooded to give plenty of privacy from any of the neighbors. The cabin itself was very well stocked in terms of toiletries and kitchen supplies. The only big cons in this stay was the cleanliness. The bedding was not clean with hair from other people still present when we pulled the blanket down to inspect. A lot of dust and spiderwebs throughout. Overall, it was a little on the pricey side for only two nights stay, but if the price reduced I could see myself staying at this location again."

This quaint and private cabin is furnished with all of the basic amenities you need for a simple yet comfortable and enjoyable stay while you take in your view of the bay and the tranquility of our area.
There are plenty of places to eat, drink and explore all within a few miles of the cabin. Some of our favorites include Finn River Farm and Cidery, The Keg and I, Ajax Cafe and Farms Reach Cafe. Within walking distance there is a QFC for grocery shopping, breakfast and lunch at Metro Bagels, or burgers and beers at The Valley Tavern. Take a short drive to the Chimacum Corner Farmstead for an incredible variety of locally grown produce and organic foods. Port Townsend is a short drive away as well. We are more than happy to provide recommendations for must-see stops during your visit.
The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker, hot plate, and toaster oven. An outdoor barbecue is available for cooking as well.
Things to note: We would prefer children do not climb up to the loft for safety reasons. The bathroom is equipped with a wash basin, hot water shower, and composting toilet (with easy to follow instructions posted).

Escape in style to the incredible natural beauty and tranquility of the Olympic Peninsula at the Wild Oyster Lodge. This expansive log home, set on high-bank water-front and surrounded by towering pines, provides sweeping views of Hood Canal from its large deck and enormous chef's kitchen.
Get out to explore the Olympic Peninsula or spend your days collecting oysters on the beach, kayaking and relaxing in the hot tub or in front of a cozy fire.
Redefine your idea of a cabin in the woods.
The space
Wild Oyster Lodge sits on Dabob Bay, a secluded bay on the north Hood Canal, surrounded by protected wilderness and a quarter-mile down the beach from the Taylor Shellfish oyster hatchery. Eagles and seals are your neighbors and the rocky private beach (accessible by a long set of stairs, which is quite steep) abounds with fresh oysters.
The home has two large bedrooms, a sleeping loft (twins/king), and bonus room with twin daybed (+trundle) to provide a comfortable stay for two families or a group of friends. The large sunroom and living room provide plenty of space to relax, play games or cozy up near the gas fireplace. One of the highlights of this getaway is the extra large professional kitchen, with a stunning live-edge dining table (seating for 8), and a large granite island for breakfast, oysters or wine tasting. Everyone ends up in the kitchen anyway - so it might as well be the biggest room in the house!
There is a large deck overlooking the water, it's the perfect place to enjoy coffee or a glass of wine and take in the natural tranquility of your private piece of the Olympic Peninsula. The large hot tub is also a very special place to relax after a local hike or excursion, while you take in views of the water to gaze up at the tower trees that surround the property. It's a tranquil magical place and we are excited to share it with you.
The home is located 15 minutes from Olympic National Park (with Mt. Walker and Canyon Falls trailheads nearby), and the quaint town of Quilcene 10 minutes away. Get out on the pristine waters of Dabob Bay with a pair of kayaks (available May - September), explore the coastline or make the round trip hike down the beach to nearby Dabob Broad Spit Park, a boat-access only park nearby with a 3-story driftwood fort (you need to see it to believe it!).
Guest access
You will have the full home + hot tub to yourselves, as well as access to a private rocky beach that abounds with wild oysters.
Other things to note
A few unique details to note about the Wild Oyster:
Stairs to the beach are steep and long (101 steps). Children under 15 should be accompanied by an adult on the stairs.
The home is intentionally TV- less and the wifi provided by satellite so it is not as fast as broadband. Internet speed is good enough for email, but not great for zoom calls or streaming video.
The nearby town of Quilcene offers a few spots to eat and a small but well-supplied market, so it's recommended to pack groceries before you arrive. Nearest large supermarket (QFC) is 25 minutes away in Port Hadlock.
Kick back and relax in this calm, modern cabin. Enjoy the view of the water as you listen to the chirping whistles of Bald Eagles. Smell the saltwater in the air as your cup of tea warms you up. This Cabin is located near the end of a dirt road on the North end of Marrowstone Island, very closet to Fort Flagler. We hope you enjoy your time at our cabin as much as we do!
