- "I’ve stayed at plenty of VRBO’s in the past in Washington and this one by far surpasses any that I have stayed in! The details matter, and they thought of everything for our stay. The check in process was very easy to use and we didn’t have any problem getting into the location. I went with my two kids for college visits and we purposely stayed a little further out so that they could see a little bit of what Washington has to offer and man were. They impressed too. You are still close enough to Seattle if you’re wanting to have that city life visit, but if you’re looking to relax and have an enjoyable time with your family and disconnect this is the place for you! I can’t wait for us to be back in the summer and see what beauty holds then. We did have a rainy day there, but it’s still was beautiful. I felt very safe and secure in the location as well as you have to have a code to get into the “subdivision”. My kid said that this was the best place that we stayed out during our whole visit and I definitely agree with them. The host were very nice and very responsive, which is refreshing to see. The hot tub was a great bonus on a rainy day. We sadly were not able to do the fire pit, but we definitely took advantage of the hot tub. Definitely a 10 out of 10 for us. Secretly, I’m sad to share this amazing visit we had here as it just means more people will be going and harder to book. Fall was beautiful and the summer visit we do I sure will be just as beautiful."

A Cabin On The Sky is a fully furnished, adults only, no pets, riverfront home located directly on the bank of the North Fork of the Skykomish River in the town of Index, WA. I accept a MAXIMUM OF TWO GUESTS. Please review my policies and house rules to be sure my property is a match for your needs.
The cabin is located in a residential area on a dead end street on the upstream end of town. The nearest homes are separated by the width of the streets ensuring your privacy. There are no other homes upstream on the river side of the street, ensuring unobstructed views of the river, forest, and viewing the peaks of the Wild Sky Wilderness Area that makes up the eastern horizon.
The accommodations have been designed primarily to serve a couple looking for a comfortable, romantic place to get away to. Although there are two sleeping quarters that could accommodate more guests I limit the number of persons staying at the cabin to only two guests. I have found that I am sometimes faced with 5-6 loads of laundry and more cleaning than I wish to endure when more than two persons stay. Couples are asked to only utilize one bed. The second bed will accommodate guests who do not wish to sleep together. There is a $30.00 extra bed fee if both beds are used.
In addition to the unobstructed world class river and mountain views found at A Cabin On The Sky, we have provided our guests with an outdoor hot tub, fire pit, charcoal BBQ, picnic table, satellite beamed flat screen television with blu-ray dvd player, Roku, free WiFi connection, unlimited long distance telephone within U.S stereo w/ CD and iPod/mp3 dock, washer/dryer, board games, and a propane fireplace for their comfort and convenience. All bed and bath linens are provided as well as bath soaps, shampoo and a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Sleeping quarters for up to 2 persons are a master suite with a king size bed and an additional bedroom on the main floor with a queen size bed in the event that guests choose not to navigate the stairs or if 2 friends stay that wish to sleep in separate beds. There is a 1/2 bath in the upstairs master suite and a full bath on the main floor. Both toilets feature heated bidet toilet seats. In addition to the comfortably furnished living room there is also a dining room and a sun room, a cozy space where many guests spend a lot of their time while at the cabin. Sipping a hot beverage in the morning with the river flowing just out the window is a great way to start a day of relaxing. Fine art prints and paintings adorn the walls throughout the home as well as hand-crafted stained glass windows. The kitchen is fully furnished for our guests to prepare most meals. Kitchen amenities include a full-size refrigerator and stove, coffee maker, coffee grinder, French press coffee maker, pots and pans, flatware, dinnerware, microwave, blender, hand mixer, cooking utensils and glassware.
The 972 square foot home is on 150’ of riverfront.
Views upstream from the property are some of the peaks in the Wild Sky Wilderness Area (before it was designated a Wilderness Area we supported that effort as a business when it was before the U.S. Senate and Congress). Downstream you will see Mounts Index and Persis. Looking south out from the living room to the tree line beyond the river is the newly developed Heybrook Ridge County Park. A 45 minute hike will take you to the viewpoint with in-your-face views of mountains and waterfalls. There is also an ADA trail named Erinswood under construction, and to the north is the Index Town Wall, a mecca for rock climbers located in the Forks of the Sky State Park and is also home to Peregrine falcons. Steven’s Pass Ski Area is about a half hour drive away. Other outdoor activities include river rafting, kayaking, hiking, biking, fishing, photography, and plein aire painting. It is also a great place to just relax and renew yourself. In the Fall and Winter months resident bald eagles often perch in the trees across the river and snack on a salmon on the shoreline across from the cabin.
In addition to our many local guests and those from throughout the U.S. others have stayed with us from all around the world including Europe, South America, Canada, Australia and China.
Come and stay at this owner-maintained and cleaned home where you will feel hugged by the mountains and whispered to sleep by the river.
- "We loved our weekend at your home. The view is breath taking. Very relaxing and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!" - "Always love staying at the cabin! It’s home away from home. While the kids loved coming ....next time..just the girls" - "Wonderful Hope you’ll let us come again!" - "My husband and I stayed at this wonderful property last year for 10 days and we loved it so much we went back this year for 2 full weeks! The sounds of the beautiful, rushing river will clear your mind & refresh your spirit. The house is surrounded by beautiful mountains and has everything you need for cooking & grilling. We spent almost every night sitting by the fire pit and then finished the night off in the hot tub. The furniture inside is very comfortable and you will get a great night's sleep in the beds. The fact that you can see, and practically hear, the river from every room in the house, well except the bathrooms, makes you love it even more. David is a great guy and will take care of anything you need. The small town of Index is great and about 30 minutes away are places to eat out and get groceries & shop. We heartily recommend this home to anyone wanting to relax and refresh. We're looking forward to future visits!"

A Riverside Retreat is a cozy riverside ski cabin with hot tub and epic views located on the Skykomish River in the scenic town of Index, WA.
We're in the Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest only one hour from downtown Seattle, and 29 miles from Stevens Pass. This area has recently been designated as the 'Wild Sky Wilderness Area' and was featured in the hit film "Captain Fantastic" starring Viggo Mortensen.
With only 150 residents, Index is the smallest town in western Washington, and it is blessed with amazing views of jagged snow-capped mountains, huge granite cliffs, a crystal clear mountain river that runs right through town, and is surrounded by an awesome rainforest right out of the movie 'Twilight.'
This freshly refurnished 2-bedroom cabin sleeps up to 5 in absolute comfort with premium beds and luxury linens, hot tub, gas fireplace, AC, TV, DVD, high-speed Internet, fully stocked kitchen, smokeless fire pit, covered porch, BBQ grill, and additional surprises we'll let you discover.
For your safety and comfort, we follow Covid cleaning protocols and don't allow smoking or pets on the property (no exceptions).
Located right along the Skykomish River at the west end of town on a giant 5-lot property, you'll enjoy the 'best view in town' right from your covered front porch or cozy interior. This is not your typical funky dark cabin in the woods, but a bright, tastefully decorated, and sparkling clean retreat - at an incredible value. We've designed it to be warm, inviting, and perfect for a weeklong getaway for a couple, two couples, or a small family.
Though the house is brimming with entertainment options, it's also an amazing place to just relax and do nothing but watch the river go by. With resident bald eagles soaring overhead, the mountain river rushing by, the amazing fresh air purified by the surrounding forest, and the spring-fed water right out of the tap - you won't find a better place to rejuvenate your body and mind.
Index and the surrounding area is also a sporting paradise with excellent access to hiking, biking, kayaking, river rafting, fishing, skiing (cross country and downhill), ATV riding, horseback riding and more.
In the winter months, nearby Stevens Pass is a big draw as one of the top skiing destinations in the Pacific Northwest. In the summer they offer a full mountain biking experience.
In the summer, the wild Skykomish River is the star of the show offering adrenaline filled whitewater challenges, or a lazy float on a hot summer day. The Skykomish is also widely know for its excellent fishing with the top draw being the world renowned Steelhead. Known as the fish of a thousand casts, they can be extremely challenging to hook and even more so to land - but when you do, you'll have accomplished a major fishing milestone of which you can be very proud.
-----------------------------
Things to see in town:
-----------------------------
The town of Index is very small and you can walk the entire town (every street!) in under an hour. Along the way, you'll find lots of things to see. In the center of town, as you cross the bridge, you'll find the Index General Store which has been serving Index residents for longer than anyone can remember. Inside the store, you'll find a very old-school post office.
Kitty corner from the store is the Outdoor Adventure Center which is a rafting and kayaking outfitter where you can rent equipment, take lessons, and join a whitewater trip. Their headquarters, the River House, also frequently hosts open-mic nights in the summer.
Also in the center of town is Doolittle park, named after one of the pioneers of the area. The park offers a covered picnic area as well as a tennis court, basketball court and public restrooms. On display is a giant saw blade that was used to cut granite at the local quarry. The granite steps of the Washington state capitol building were cut right here in Index.
To learn more about how Index came to be, be sure to visit PIckett's Museum where you can see amazing photographs and artifacts of an era gone by. You'll be shocked to learn that Index once had 2000 residents when it boomed, and you can see photographs of the giant trees that were harvested from the area. Pickett's is open Memorial Day - Labor Day from 1 to 4 on Fridays and Saturdays. They are also available by appointment during the off-season by calling 360-793-1534. Treat yourself to a private visit - they love having guests.
In 2012 the historic Bush House was purchased and underwent a decade-long restoration. The Bush House Inn is now open and serving guests for coffee and pastries 8-noon daily and Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (8am - 7:30 pm).
Across from the Bush House is the Index Elementary school where local students of 6 grades share 2 classrooms. With one of the best student-teacher-ratio's in the state, the school is an excellent place for kids. They also have a nice playground that your kids are welcome to use during off-hours.
In 2008, the huge ridge across the river from town was saved from logging by a local effort known as 'Friends of Heybrook Ridge.' The organization raised enough money to purchase the land from a private company and has made the ridge an eco-tourist and educational destination. There is a parking lot with educational signage that leads to two different trails. This is an excellent addition to the town of Index and allows people of all ages to easily access a 100-year-old 2nd growth rain forest and learn about the flora and fauna. Get the All Trails app and find Heybrook Ridge for details.
When you stay with us, you will have no limit to the number of amazing hikes in the area. For starters, here are a few popular ones:
* Heybrook Ridge
* Heybrook Firetower
* Troublesome Creek
* Wallace Falls
* Deception Falls
* Bridal Veil Falls & Lake Serene
* The Iron Goat Trail
* Barclay Lake
-------------------
Day Trip(s)
-------------------
Depending on the weather, a very popular day trip for visitors is to cross Stevens pass into the eastern side of the state where you'll find yourself in the German styled town of Leavenworth. The streets are lined with tourist-attracting shops and there are several good restaurants to try. One of our favorites is Gustav's at the west end of town offering fantastic bratwurst and cold beer. Try the outdoor deck upstairs when the weather is nice - a great way to spend a couple of hours. The other recently discovered gem is Javelina - just trust us.
Heading the other direction, Seattle is only an hour away. Check out Pike Place outdoor market where you can grab coffee at the very first Starbucks, watch the fishmongers throw fish, and shop for fresh produce and handmade crafts. It's open every day of the year rain or shine! Check out the flagship REI store and its giant climbing pinnacle or engage in retail therapy for the layer you forgot to pack. Or take a ride up the space needle where you can see the whole city, or journey off on a ferry ride to picturesque Bainbridge Island for lunch. How about a Mariners or Seahawks game? There is certainly plenty to do in the Emerald City if you get the itch for city life during your stay. And at only an hour away, getting there and back is half the fun.

Questions - just ask!
----------------------------
We are very excited to share this amazing area with you, and we hope that you consider staying with us. If you have ANY questions about anything, feel free to ask.
We hope to host you soon!

- "This house has everything that we needed during our stay in Index. The location is easy to access from the bridge, and the view in front of the house is just gorgeous. The kitchen is fully stocked, the bedrooms are good size, and the bedding is soft and comfortable. We loved the flow of the house. One of our favorite things to do while at the house was to drink coffee on the porch and just enjoyed the view of the mountain and river. We would love to return some time in the future. We highly recommend this house!"

The cabin is located in a private gated community with direct access to the river and nearby falls." - "Great little property on the river. Covered hottub, great setup to lounge in the living room or make a yummy meal in the open kitchen. Our group had a great weekend. We loved the chickens and the alpacas across the street (viewed from afar), and woke up to beautiful snow on the morning of our departure. Just a few things to note: the separate bedroom downstairs is great, but theres no restroom. This didnt affect our group, but just something to be aware of. Please also make sure you have a vehicle that can drive in the snow. As we left there were several cars that couldnt make it out of the community. Would love to stay here again in the summer, the river is stunning!"

We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again and are already recommending it to others." - "My husband and I thouroughly enjoyed staying at Small Timbers. It was very clean and cozy and had everything you would need for a week-long stay. The only downsides was there is no washer/dryer and the big beautiful windows have no blinds/curtains. So people across the river can see right into the cabin at night if you have lights on. Also there were more people around than I was expecting, but still relatively private. We loved that we were right up on the Skykomish river and the view was incredible. Overall, an amazing stay and just what my husband and I wanted for our honeymoon!"

Tucked away at the entrance to the Cascade Mountain Range, you’ll find a magical cabin campground.. Layered under a canopy of towering evergreen trees, this one-of-a-kind property is the perfect base camp for all your favorite outdoor adventures! Hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing, fishing, and more.
Return from your adventure to a hot tub and fire pit underneath the ambient string lights, while you hear the sounds of the Skykomish River rushing in the distance.
Welcome to Wild Lily - a charming place to host your next family gathering, retreat, or bring your closest friends together for the ultimate outdoor-adventure base camp. This unique property is fully stocked with modern amenities and located in a serene mountain valley.
The main cabin, Wild Lily, sleeps up to 7 adults, with two queen-sized beds upstairs and two comfortable sofa beds. Aside from the main house there are two additional cabins on the property that provide accommodations.
The cabin to the right when exiting from the French doors is called the Eagles Nest and has a queen size bed in the sleeping loft. The larger cabin to the left is called the Lily Pad, and includes a queen size bed in the loft and a comfortable sofa bed on the main floor.
There is a shared bath house that includes indoor and outdoor showers and a sauna for the Eagles Nest and Lily Pad cabins. Each cabin offers a unique rustic charm, complete with wall-to-wall picture windows and wood-burning fireplaces.
The open kitchen in the main cabin is fully-equipped with stainless steel appliances, cookware, utensils, and more. Gather at the family-style, 12-person custom dining table with booth seating followed by board games or snuggling in front of the fireplace on the large sectional sofa to watch a movie.
Up for an adventure? Stroll through the charming town of Index, exploring the historic Bush House hotel, river house, or general store, just a half-mile walk from the cabin. Lake Serene, Bridal Veil Falls, Heybrook Lookout, and Forks of the Sky State Park are less than 5.0 miles from the property, with countless more nearby Central Cascades trails to choose from.
Try your hand at fishing just steps from the property on the shores of the North Fork Skykomish River. Follow the river trail that leads to an island with a sandy beach overlooking the Skykomish River and mountains. You’ll also be within 30 miles of the well-acclaimed Stevens Pass Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and mountain biking trails in the summer.
As you return from your fun-filled day in the mountains, be sure to take advantage of all the outdoor amenities, including outdoor showers, sauna, and hot tub. Breathe in the fresh mountain air as you gently swing in the hammock, relaxing with a good book or a cup of tea in hand.
Once it’s dinnertime, fire up the gas grill and watch the sunset over the surrounding jagged peaks. Don’t feel like cooking? No problem! The cabin is close to several restaurants and bars, including the Whistling Post Saloon, Rico’s Pizza, and Maggy’s Family Mexican Restaurant. End the evening with s’mores, drinks, and good conversation as you huddle around the fire pit underneath the string lights.
Whether you’ve come for relaxation, adventure, or to spend time with loved ones, you’ve come to the right place at Wild Lily.
Guest access:
Parking: There is parking for 6-8 cars right in front of the main cabin. There is also a secondary driveway on the other side of the woodshed that can be used.
Other things to note:
- Eagles Nest and Lily Pad cabins have small ladders to reach the bedroom lofts. Both cabins share an outdoor bath house with running hot water, showers, and flushing toilets.
-Stairs in the main house: There’s no shortage of creativity and uniqueness of design and engineering at Wild Lily. Our interesting stairs, known as “Jefferson Stairs”, incorporate the engineering genius of founding father Thomas Jefferson. Don’t be intimidated by the visual strangeness, they work like any other stairs. Make sure to start with your right foot and they will feel totally natural. There are light switches for the stair lights at the top and bottom of the stairs.
- Cell service is limited on the property, so we recommend you download Gxxgle Maps offline beforehand and turn on Wifi calling upon arrival. There is a landline located in the main cabin.
- Fire making supplies are provided for the indoor stoves only. Please plan to bring your own firewood if you want to utilize the outdoor fire pit.
For outdoor enthusiasts and amateurs alike, a trip to the Pacific Northwest should include a stop at the small, rustic town of Index, Washington. Its population? Less than 200. Though it’s about an hour from Seattle, this town is a world away from fast-paced, contemporary urban life. Index is primarily a destination for in-the-know rock climbers, but this small town in the Skykomish Valley also draws in an eclectic crowd of adventurers of all ages, families, and those who want -- or need -- to escape to nature for a few days.
- "For my moms birthday since we have small kids and didn’t won’t o camp out in tents we decided to get the wild lily cabin. We had an amazing experience surrounded by nature with just 2 minutes you are right on the river . Our kids spent so much time there looking at the little fish collecting rocks etc. the property itself was so big with the main house and two cabins on each side gave us all our own individual spaces. Plus it kept us entertained all of the days there with a campfire spot picnic tables sauna and even a hot tub. Would love to make it out there again for the winter season"

- "Better than expected. Cabin was well stocked. Check in process very easy, we checked in around 11pm on our check in day. Just like the pictures. Neighborhood is very quiet and private. There is one other cabin nearby. It has its own driveway, but a shared fire pit. Complete privacy inside, but you can see a little of the neighboring property from this cabins patio. Short and private trail to a mountain view with a couple chairs and a private fire pit. Across the street is river access shared with the other property. You can’t walk up and down the river, because it would cross property lines. But the access you do have is plenty and beautiful. 10/10 would recommend"

We recently put in a frog pond fountain out in the front yard. Please look for the tad poles and water plants.

The white marble lava steam shower has a floor to ceiling window that faces the forest. It is quite wonderful and designed so that the steam fogs the window for privacy. The Treeframe cabin is about 200’ away through the forest. It is very unlikely that anyone will be looking your way during your shower. If this makes you feel uncomfortable, you’ll need to wear a swimsuit in the shower.

- "Perfect" - "My girlfriend had never been to the PNW and I wanted to immerse her fully in the beauty of the area. This property couldn’t have been more perfect. Quiet, secluded, top amenities, yet still close enough to Seattle that we could explore the whole area. I can’t recommend this property more. " - "This really is a gorgeous cabin, in an incredible setting perched up in the trees. There are skylights above the bed where you can fall asleep with the trees and stars above you. You can sit on the deck or in the hot tub in amongst the forest. It really is idyllic for an escape and we loved our stay. The host was incredibly responsive, and helpful. However, there are some practical things to be aware of if you’re planning your trip. The cabin is on the smaller side; we were on a two week trip with big suitcases and there was no where for them to go. They were just out in the main living/kitchen space and we felt like we were tripping over them, so pack light! Note there is no hanging space or clothes storage. There is an AC unit, but it’s a stand alone unit that’s been put in as an after thought, so doesn’t fit with the rest of the well finished cabin, and again takes away space. "

The Neighborhood:
Index is located in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains; the summit of Mount Index is located 3 miles (4.8 km) south of the town. The Index Town Walls, granite cliffs up to 500 feet (150 m) high, are located on the northern edge of the town. These walls are popularly used for rock climbing, offering a variety of high-quality cracks for this purpose. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.23 square miles (0.60 km2), all of it land.
Index is located on the North Fork Skykomish River, just above its confluence with the main channel of the Skykomish River. The Skykomish River's Sunset Falls, a nearly 300-foot-long (91 m) granite chute that drops some 100 feet (30 m), is located approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) from the town (on the South Fork Skykomish River).[citation needed] In December 1980, the Skykomish River flooded the town and destroyed eight homes.
The town is located 1 mile (1.6 km) north of US Highway 2, approximately 25 miles (40 km) west of Stevens Pass. The BNSF railroad, formerly the Great Northern Railway, runs through the middle of the town. Index was once an important stop for the mining (particularly Monte Cristo and Galena) and timber activities north of its location.
Other Things to Note:
We now offer grocery service! Please send us your list to have your fridge and pantry stocked.
Please bring your own firewood.
Bedding for the sleeper sofa is in the storage bench in the dining room. It was made from a fir tree that blew down on the property. Please be careful opening & closing, it is heavy.
The 2 baseboard heaters do a good job but to heat the main floor over 70 degrees you'll need to have a fire.
Any additional guest must be cleared by host, additional fees may apply.

- "Very cute and cozy cabin right on the river with beautiful river and Mountain Views. Hot tub was a great feature and there is a path to the riverbed. Very close to town where there is a small general store and one small restaurant (inside a historic hotel, limited menu but good food). There are a cluster of cabins on the property but it still felt very private. Driveway is gated which made it feel secure. Only downside is bedroom is upstairs (with tight spiral staircase) and only bathroom is downstairs so going to the bathroom in the middle of the night was not the easiest, but we knew that going into the booking and it’s definitely not a deal breaker. Host was very attentive and communicative. I would definitely stay here again or book another of Nicks properties."

At O'Neill Cabin, we offer a unique experience for our guests. Our rustic, private, riverfront, cabin is remodeled with reclaimed materials, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere for a retreat. The covered hot tub is perched up on the river's edge with views of the river, the forest, and the sheer granite cliffs of The Index Town Wall. Soaking in it is the perfect way to end a day of exploration in the mountains. Come experience the magic of the North Cascades Mountains with us.
The Space:
This fishing cabin built in the 1950s is begging for you to come relax, unplug, and let your stresses float away on the North Fork of the Skykomish River. Take a soak in the covered hot tub perched over the river and gaze upon the famous Index Town Wall as bald eagles look for steelhead in the waters below. This cabin is one of a cluster of cabins on our 5 acre gated riverfront property. Please enjoy the new custom shared sauna and cold plunge on the yoga deck.
The cabin features a custom kitchen counter top made from reclaimed Teredo Clam Wood boards and river boulders. There is a full sized fridge, apartment sized range, retro microwave, coffee maker, and selection of all the basic kitchen supplies. Grill your favorite dish on the Webber propane BBQ after a long day on the slopes - Steven’s Pass Ski Area is 30 minutes away - or hiking, fishing, or tubing on the wild river.
The master suite is donned with reclaimed wood walls, a queen sized bed, and a brand new 43" smart TV. The connecting bathroom has a custom stone rain shower, including a river cobble stripe with a 50 million year old fish fossil smiling at you while hot water beats down on your head. The second sleeping area is in the common living room and is outfitted with a queen sleeper sofa, the linens are located under the other bed.
This property (The Pietsch Pit) is gated and is THE last house on the secluded dirt road. If you want to get away and unplug this is truly a spot for you. Located steps from the river you will follow the fishing trail down to the world famous Skykomish to fish for Steelhead (WA State Fish) and Dolly Varden trout in the honey hole directly in front of the cabin! The river can be a little cold, but no worries -- jump into your private, covered hot tub to soak away the chill and hash over your battles with the Steelhead that you and your friends are about to enjoy.
The hot tub is perched under a log structure formerly used to store horse supplies, like hay and feed. It faces the great Index Town Wall, which attracts rock climbers from all over the world. This sheer granite cliff is part of the Index Granite Batholith which also hosts hang gliders who are brave enough to test old man gravity! Soak your bones in your private tub while you try to spot a climber halfway up the wall and turn down the bubbles so you can listen to the soothing hum of the river below.
The property sits on an acre field of grass with dozens of evergreen trees scattered about. Kick a ball, throw a Frisbee, play croquet, or toss a horse shoe in the custom cedar log pits. Run freely in the fields of O'Niell Cabin and don’t forget to have a fire in the river boulder fire pit riverside.
The town of Index is 0.2 miles away by foot or car; only 2 rapids by kayak! There is a general store in Index with basic supplies, wine, and beer, but most significant grocery runs we do in Monroe, WA, about 20 minutes west, toward Seattle.
In town, be sure to check out the Outdoor Adventure Center. They offer world class rafting and kayaking, serve an amazing selection of great micro brews (mainly in 22oz size), and have big TVs that often are tuned to the Seahawks on game day.
This is a unique property at the end of a road, 30 minutes from Stevens Pass Ski area, and steps from one of the last wild rivers in this country. We hope that you enjoy your stay!

Welcome to Your Cascade Cabin! New host, same beloved cabin (200+ 5-Star reviews!)
A semi off-grid mini cabin, featuring a 2-Person Barrel Sauna, located along the river off of Highway 2. Your Cascade Cabin is your place to kick up your feet, enjoy a whiskey by the fire, and relax after a day of adventuring in the mountains or river.
This property is a bit off grid - set in the woods, creating a remote feel but is located in a gated residential community so a neighbor is just a shout away!
This sustainable cabin is a 385 sqft slice of paradise! It was built in 2019 with love which is evident in all of the details! It is a bit off grid but has most of the amenities that you're used to. Please read through the details to make sure it's a good fit for you. The views make this cabin a treat. Choose between Mount Index, the Skykomish River, or the beautiful green forest surrounding the property.
The cabin is a bit off grid with modern amenities. Please read through the information below to make sure this is the right stay for you!
Kitchen - A fully stocked kitchen to prepare meals or even a frozen pizza. We try to keep the basic's stocked; salt, pepper, cooking oil. There is an induction stove top, small oven, and slow cooker. There's also a coffee grinder and french press to make your morning coffee. We supply cast iron cookware. If you bring your own cookware, be sure it’s induction compatible.
Living area - Relax and enjoy a book on the super comfy couch. There is also a TV with cable and a DVD player! We have a solid collection of DVDs ready for you. Unfortunately you won't be able to stream Netflix so bust out those old DVDs for the weekend.
Internet - There is a very basic satellite internet that powers wifi, however, it is extremely slow and not reliable (1-2Mbps). You should be able to receive wifi calls, send texts, and do some light browsing, but it is not fast enough to stream. Cell service is also very spotty. Verizon gets about 1 bar and other carriers are even less.
Loft Bedroom - Please note that the stairs to the loft are very steep. More ladder like. There is a queen sized bed so you'll be super comfy and cozy!
Bathroom - The bathroom is equipped with an incinerating toilet and a small shower. There is no sink in the bathroom but there is one right out the door in the kitchen! There are instructions for the toilet in the bathroom and welcome binder but it's quite simple to use. The showers are short since there is only a very small hot water heater but quite a luxury for a cabin.
Heating / Cooling - The summers in the Sky Valley are generally nice and cool. Open up the windows and enjoy the cool breeze. If it gets cold or you're staying in the winter, there is an electric wall heater and also a wood burning stove. Please don't use the wood stove in the summer or excessively. The cabin is very air tight so it doesn't take much to warm it up.
Wood for fires - the wood stove is available for your enjoyment. We provide wood for indoor use, especially for very cold visits or should the power go out! The indoor wood stove fits 10 - 12 inch pieces of wood.
Fire pit - Please check whether a burn ban is in effect before using the fire pit.
Sauna - We have an Almost Heaven Salem 2-Person Sauna ready for you to enjoy! This sauna can be used as a wet or dry sauna.
Winter- If you are coming to the cabin in winter (November - April) you should be prepared for snow. It doesn’t snow all the time but it’s not uncommon to get a 10”-15” snow fall. Things to Note:
- Heads up! The loft bedroom is accessed via a steep ladder, which may not be suitable for everyone.
- Just a friendly note: We're part of a private riverfront gated community, so you'll have neighbors nearby.
- Embracing nature: While our pest control company works hard to keep pests away, there's always a chance you might come across one during your stay as we are in the woods in nature.
-Safety first! Rivers can be unpredictable, so please exercise extreme caution (use at your own risk) when near the water.
-In the winter months our neighborhood roads are well-plowed. We recommend All-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive vehicles or bringing chains as we cannot predict snow & ice storms. Given we are in a remote mountain area, these storms can also cause power outages which are out of our control. We do have a backup generator that should kick on if the power goes out. Yippee!
*Please note the cabin does not have AC we have a lot of trees and shade at the cabin as well as extra fans in the bedrooms and loft.
- "This adorable cabin is nestled in a perfect quiet calm community right on the river with the most epic views of Mt Index!! So convenient and the perfect getaway! Can't wait to return!!" - "Absolutely perfect! Look forward to going back again!!"

Two bedrooms, a bonus kids room, plus two ¾ baths (no bathtubs, sorry!), game room with futon, open kitchen, and propane fireplace makes this property truly cozy and comfortable!
The space

The main level has a bedroom with an adjustable queen size Sleep Number mattress and walk in closet, 3/4 bathroom, kitchen, and living room with a newly installed propane fireplace.
Upstairs includes a primary bedroom with king size bed, bathroom, kids bonus room, and the game room with a pool table, air hockey, countless games and VHSes. It even boasts a hand-drawn mural including Mt Index & Persis, Mt Baring, and Chimney Rock.
The newly refinished deck looks out over the Index Wall and the lower lawn has a fire pit, hammock, and access to the North Fork Skykomish River (Access is seasonal and at your own risk).
The property has super speedy wifi internet (no cell service, but we have a land-line!), an impressive collection of VHS tapes, streaming TV service, and parking for up to 4 cars (RV’s included!).
Our family has done all of the updating ourselves, from hand-planing live edge shelving, to putting up custom wood paneling, to refinishing the deck. This property is a labor of love and it will continue to get updates and special touches as time goes on.
Cats and well-behaved dogs are welcome (For those of you with allergies, you should know that a cat sometimes frequents the cabin), and we are incredibly kid friendly. In addition to the children's toddler bed, there is a pack-and-play.

The space

Follow the river trail that leads to an island with a sandy beach overlooking the Skykomish River and mountains. You’ll also be within 30 miles of the well-acclaimed Stevens Pass Mountain Resort for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and mountain biking trails in the summer.
