- "My two dogs and I spent a weekend at this lovely little place on the west side of Gueme. The house was perfect — comfy and too fancy cause you know, I have two dogs. We had multiple hikes a day on the beach and in Dog Woods. The yard has fences appropriate so that you don’t have to worry about losing a dog. The views are spectacular and the ferry ride easy to access. Greta place to get away" - "Quaint cottage with an amazing view and a beautiful yard. The island was very charming and we enjoyed the ferry rides, especially the three and five year old. Would definitely rebook."

Check-in was super easy and we felt incredibly spoiled to stay in a property right on the beach! Guemes is a lovely quiet island and our stay was peaceful and restorative. Highly recommend staying here!" - "Thanks" - "My husband and I were looking for a place to unwind and relax, and this did not disappoint!! First of all, the island itself is quiet. A perfect location for those who enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, birding, or simply relaxing in nature. The island offers many activities despite its quiet and small stature. We welcome you to the “secret” of the San Juan Islands, just a short ferry ride from Anacortes, Washington.
- "We love the property and the cabin, good vibes. peaceful. relaxing. we will be back." - "We had a great time at the property and on the island itself. The hikes around the island were fun and beautiful. Great to be around all the wildlife. The island is full of very friendly people. The house was warm and inviting. We loved building a fire each night." - "We really enjoyed our stay. The people on Guemes Island were all super friendly. The house itself was awesome, such a neat little set-up. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, this is the place for you. Ashley was super quick to respond. A tree fell while we were there and took out power, but we could light a fire to keep warm and could see they were working to quickly to get the power back on. There are beach access areas on the island, so make sure to explore a bit. Listening to the trees bantering with each other was something special, something you don’t always get if you live in the city. You have an awesome house and glad we got to enjoy it for a weekend. Would definitely go back again."

Escape to the simplicity of Guemes Island in our open and airy Owl's Nest, one bedroom cabin with sleeping loft. Lots of natural light, open concept living with two decks to enjoy partial views of Saddlebag Island and Skagit Valley in the background. A place to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures that living close to nature can bring.
The Guemes Ferry is just a 10 minute crossing and the Cabin is a beautiful 10 minute drive from the dock.
It’s a very special place to us that we’re sharing for the first time, in hopes that you’ll find it a relaxing and enjoyable place to hideaway for a bit.
This is not a rough and ready party palace, but rather a place to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures living close to nature can offer. A good fit for those who like to "leave no trace". Enjoy yoga on the upper deck in the morning, a hike up Guemes Mountain or along the beach during the day, and curling up with a good book in front of the fire at night.
The Cabin has been recently renovated with an emphasis on earth friendly products. Locally milled, sustainably harvested fir flooring with no-VOC finish throughout. Cedar beams from the original clearing of the property. A 'nap nook' and work desk are in the loft, along with a large screen TV, WiiU, DVD player and an assortment of family friendly DVDs to enjoy the pleasures of simpler times together. There is WiFi for email, surfing and streaming but due to our location limited speeds are not enough for uploading or downloading.
Please Note:
Guests are expected to read & be willing to honor House Rules. No gatherings/parties or drones allowed, only booked guests can be there at any time (unless discussed/approved and additional fees paid in advance). Additional security deposit required for every booking per House Rules; booking implies agreement to pay deposit and honor rules. Unpaid deposit means no entry.
No pets here, we love them but this cabin is not set up for them and there are coyotes nearby.
Also The Guemes Island Store, just up from the ferry offers basic grocery supplies but it's advisable to bring your own food from the mainland for the bulk of your meals because supplies can fluctuate. They also make excellent food and baked goods for meals out.
- "The Owls Nest was a great place to stay with family. Plenty of room for kids, they loved the sleeping in the loft and getting together with family" - "This place is exceptional! Much more beautiful than in the photos. We were greeted with a lovely welcome basket and our two tween/teen children LOVED sharing the loft and playing Wii! The beds are comfortable and the view off the balcony is amazing! We just wish we had booked for 3 nights instead of two as we were so busy with wedding festivities that we barely got to enjoy the comforts of the owls nest. 100% recommend staying here if you are going to be on the island!"

At this time the smart tv streams Netflix, Amazon Prime and Vudu but not YouTube TV.
Information about the Guemes Island ferry can be found online, there is a website that displays current scheduled sailings with live WebCams of the lines.

Escape to the simplicity of Guemes Island in our open and airy one bedroom cabin with loft, which sleeps 4-5. Natural light and open concept living with two decks to enjoy partial views of Saddlebag Island and Skagit Valley. A place to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures that living close to nature can bring. The Guemes Ferry is a 10 minute crossing and the cabin is a beautiful 10 minute drive from the terminal. Explore beautiful Guemes Mountain trail, just 1.5 miles from the cabin.
The space
The Cabin has been recently renovated with an emphasis on earth friendly products. Locally milled, sustainably harvested fir flooring with no-VOC finish throughout. Cedar beams from the original clearing of the property. A 'nap nook' and work desk are in the loft, along with a large screen TV, WiiU, DVD player and an assortment of family friendly DVDs to enjoy the pleasures of simpler times together. Please note that light and sound are prevalent in the loft due to large windows and the open design of the cabin. Light sleepers take note!
There is WiFi for email, surfing and streaming but due to our location limited speeds are not enough for uploading or downloading.
It's a very special place to us that we’re sharing for the first time, in hopes that you’ll find it a relaxing and enjoyable place to hideaway for a bit.
This is not a rough and ready party palace, but rather a place to unwind and relax. A good fit for those who like to "leave no trace". Enjoy yoga on the upper deck in the morning, a hike up Guemes Mountain or along the beach during the day, and curling up with a good book in front of the fire at night.
You'll find a toaster oven and oven & stove in the kitchen but no microwave in order to keep the counters open. We can provide a microwave upon request.
Please Note:
Guests are expected to read & be willing to honor House Rules. No gatherings/parties allowed, only booked guests can be there at any time (unless discussed/approved and additional fees paid in advance).
No pets here, we love them but this cabin is not set up for them and there are coyotes nearby. We have another listing two doors down that is pet friendly called The Huckleberry Cabin. Also available if you'd like to book two cabins for larger families.
The Guemes Island Store, just up from the ferry offers basic grocery supplies but it's advisable to bring your own food from the mainland for the bulk of your meals because supplies can fluctuate. They also make excellent food and baked goods for meals out.
Guest access
You'll have access to all rooms in the cabin and both decks as well as the yard. We have some closets marked 'owner use only' with personal belongings in them.
Other things to note
Light sleepers please note: The sleeping loft is open to the main floor, living room and above the kitchen and sound does travel upward.
It has large windows without curtains that provide wonderful natural light, and lots of it near the summer solstice so plan for early mornings and late evenings if you rise and set with the sun.

While there are two bedrooms this home is an open floor concept so privacy can be limited. The windows do not have any blinds or coverings to allow the beautiful light to flow in (except the bathroom window is covered). We provide ear plugs and eye masks for the optimal sleeping experience. The property is adjacent to the island fire house and when emergencies are called in the alarm may sound. But don't worry!
We are so pet-friendly (dogs and other furry family) that we do not believe in charging pet fees.
