The Japanese garden, food and flower gardens, orchards, greenhouses, native forest and many special plant collections, are all centered around a large pond and pathway in the style of a classic Japanese stroll or promenade garden.

A peaceful, clean place to get away from it all. We are located in a very quiet area close to cherry point beach, birch bay state park and lake Terrill. The studio is very simple in design, as well as modern decor throughout to make it a relaxing place to stay.

We are a one hour and thirty minute drive to Mt. Baker ski area. Twenty two minute drive to Peace Health St Joes Hospital.

The space
Step away from the fast and busy pace of the city while relaxing on the back patio listing to the birds, frogs and watching the sun set to the west.

The Studio has a doble sized bed and quite patio area to drink your morning coffee, BBQ or just sit back and listen to the birds chirp.

Parking is located directly in front of the unit and along side of the the tall fence. The concrete sidewalk along the west side of the unit leads to the entrance. The driveway is shared with another unit so please DO NOT park in front of the fence and reserved parking sign.

Unfortunately, the studio unit is not a kid friendly space for children under 12. The max capacity for this unit is 1 adult and one child over 12 years old, or two adults.

My art studio is a hide-away for artists or adventurous travelers. Tucked back into five acres, 10 minutes from Bellingham, 1.5 hours from Mt Baker ski area it is a refuge. It has wood heat which I provide, a loft bed, shower and small "kitchen", and full bathroom.

The cottage has both a shower and a claw foot tub for a relaxing bath. We provide plush robes for lounging and heading over to the hot tub, along with special hot tub shoes. Our bath towels are luxurious, top of the line. The bed is also so comfortable with microfiber sheets and cover. Guests constantly ask us about the sheets.

We also have a washer/dryer in the cottage for your convenience for your personal belongs. Anything that relates to the cottage is washed by your hosts...please place your towels, sheets, etc. in the plastic bags provided and put on the porch of the main house. We have additional towels and sheets inside the cottage ready for your use.

Want to grill? We've got you covered with a nice gas grill right outside your cottage.

Got guests in a wheelchair who might be visiting you while you stay with us? We have portable wheelchair ramps that adjust to various widths of wheelchairs. We aren't officially wheelchair accessible due to those qualifications, but we can get you into the cottage for a visit.

This property is unique for its proximity to both Canada and the US and gives you the opportunity to both snow ski and golf on the same day. Located just ten minutes from the Peach Arch border in the Pacific Northwest of WA, we've been renting it out for years before coming online with Airbnb. Our friends insisted! :)

We are 420 friendly; however, the designated area is by the pond.

We checked "No animals allowed;" however, If you have small (less than 20 pounds) non-shedding dogs (no cats), inquire with us and we will review each situation case by case. You have the right to ask, and we reserve the right to say "No."

Guests can utilize all the common grounds of the property...Grill, Hot tub, Floating chairs with gas fire pit, Wood fire pit with sitting area by pond and dining table by pond, swinging chairs hanging from trees. Only the fire pit table next to the hot tub on back deck of main house is unavailable as it is reserved for use by owners , but check with us as we can make special arrangements.

The hot tub is available by reservation the day you desire to use it. You must request by 6 pm what time you want to use it no later than 10 pm. We can also accommodate use in the mornings between 10 am and noon upon request. Just communicate your desired time to us. If you need a time outside of the ones listed, let us know...we are flexible. We just want to make sure we aren't all planning on using the hot tub at the same time! :) And, we want to make sure you understand that noise needs to be kept to a minimum as the hot tub is on the back deck outside owner's bedroom and near neighbor on that side. You will have complete privacy.

Other things to note
Do you LOVE playing pickleball, or want to learn how to play? Dotti loves playing, teaching and coaching! There are indoor courts just 5 minutes away and it only costs $3 per person to play in rainy weather or during the winter months. She can clue you in on the schedule or take in a game of pickleball with you...and give you a lesson (for an additional fee).

During spring, summer and fall, Dotti can arrange to rent an outdoor court just 5 minutes away. She will give you a total fee that includes court rental, net, paddles and balls.

Still Waters Cottage is ideally suited (6 miles-about a ten-minute drive to the Peace Arch border going into Canada) and 45 minutes - 1 hour south of Vancouver, BC and Stanley Park (depending on time of day to consider traffic). Plan to have your passport and/or Nexus pass for crossing the border. Flying in/out of Vancouver Airport enables you to reach Still Waters Cottage in 45 minutes.

We are 18 miles north of Bellingham. You can reach the Bellingham airport in 20 minutes from Still Waters Cottage. We're two hours north of SeaTac airport.

Love to ski and golf on the same day? You've found the place! Mt. Baker offers skiing and there are multiple golf courses in the area such as the Semiahmoo Resort Golf courses and world renowned Peace Portal Golf Club.

Bellingham Marina with the Hotel Bellwether has a restaurant and live music during the summer outside and inside during the winter is a treat. Other great restaurants, including well-known Anthony's, are also great choices. Relax and walk around. Travel on further south in Bellingham and check out Boulevard Park, a community park established in 1980. Located on Bellingham Bay, Boulevard Park is a favorite among locals for sunsets (and sunrises), walks, and beautiful pictures. Boulevard Park is a charming bay-side community space featuring a performance stage for local concerts, open space for throwing a frisbee, and some of the best views of Bellingham Bay found anywhere else in the city. Connecting the Fairhaven Historic District to the south and downtown Bellingham to the north, Boulevard Park provides great walking and biking trails along the shore.

The facilities at Boulevard Park also include a playground, picnic tables, barbecues, trails, and pocket beaches. The Woods Coffee is there, however, we recommend the coffee shop in Village Books. As you take the walk across the bridges from Woods Coffee and up the hill to the Chrysalis Inn and Spa, you will then take a right turn at the top as you come up from the water. That path will take you right into Fairhaven, known as Historic Bellingham. You will find Village books there. Explore and have fun!

A trip to Victoria in BC to see The Butchart Gardens is a must! Hiking is spectacular and Summer and Fall are usually 70-80's with no humidity! Birch Bay Beach is just one mile from us...wonderful for walking and seeing spectacular sunsets while dining overlooking the water. Drive 20 minutes to White Rock Beach or 25 minutes to Crescent Beach, both in Canada.

The space
Our studio guesthouse is situated in the center of Whatcom County. This area of the county is home to many farms, including blueberry, raspberry, and dairy farms...in a phrase, dairies and berries! On clear days, views of Mt. Baker and the Twin Sisters along with the Canadian mountains are magnificent.

Access is simple via a private/separate driveway to the studio guesthouse. Whether you have one or two vehicles, or even a trailer, we have plenty of easy parking for you.

Sleeping arrangements consist of a comfortable queen-size Murphy bed in addition to a couch which folds out to be a full-size bed.

The beautiful kitchen has a gas stove/oven for cooking, a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, Keurig, and a hot water kettle. It is stocked with dishes, utensils, and cookware.

The studio guesthouse faces away from the main house towards the west. It is attached to the backside of our shop, and while we do occasionally access the shop, we respect your privacy. Guests have happily found that our guesthouse is a peaceful, quiet space.

The space
"The Pad" is an old property and was used as a college rental for many years before the owners rescued it. If you're looking for modern and fancy, you may want to look elsewhere. But if you don't mind rustic/charming, we believe you will be quite comfortable. It is most suitable for 1-2 people, but the full sized futon couch can be used as a second "bed" making it available to groups of up to three or four.

The guest house has a small bedroom with a queen sized bed, a lounge area with couch and futon, bathroom (shower but no tub), small but full kitchen and a private backyard deck with gas fireplace. There is also a very small but dedicated parking spot in the back alley.

The free on-site parking space is located on the back alley. It is a bit small and the alley is somewhat narrow so parking a large vehicle could take some extra effort. We recommend backing in to the space. If you are uncomfortable with the small parking space, you will need to find street parking which is generally available but can get crowded by late evening and then accessing The Pad via the back alley.

Other things to note
Due to our proximity to campus, a few of the neighbors are students. Generally they are quiet, but they occasionally host parties that can be noisy. If you are looking for the perfect, idyllic place with island and mountain views, modern appliances and marble countertops, you may need to look elsewhere as this is an older building and we are a high rental, urban neighborhood. But if you're looking for a clean, cozy and private studio at a reasonable price, and close to town, we think you will be quite happy here.

Also, our neighborhood is quite dense and the back of the property butts up closely to the back alley. The entrance does NOT face the alley and it is protected by some fence, but alley traffic--particularly garbage pick up-- might be inconvenient.

The cottage is perfect for two, featuring a living area that doubles as the bedroom, a small dining table, and a private patio where you can unwind with the soothing sounds of a nearby waterfall and birdsong. Depending on the season, the waterfall may roar or softly whisper.

The Forest Studio began as an artist's studio, every aspect custom designed. From the loft bed surrounded by windows, to the fully equipped kitchen, slate-tiled shower and red brick floors, everything was added with careful thought. This is a unique space!

The Studio shares a property with our home, and is 512 square feet, with an added 60 feet in the sleeping area above. There is a queen-sized bed in a hanging loft - best for those comfortable climbing a ladder - to sleep surrounded by windows and trees on all sides. There is also a sofa in the main room that folds into a comfortable full size bed, with a memory foam topper. The main room has a window seat, and a custom reading nook with games for all ages stored below. Peter's handmade live-edge cedar table seats four. The kitchen is fully equipped with sink, stove, oven, refrigerator, and cooking implements. The bathroom has a full shower, beautifully tiled. The studio has both electric heat and a wood stove. There are two entryways, with a wood deck at the front entrance. Parking is just outside the back door.

We care about beauty, connection, real things, and the Studio reflects that; much of its features were made by us or locally sourced. You'll eat at Peter's table, hang your coat on a fir tree we found in our woods, use Aimee's homemade soap in the kitchen, see our art on the walls, and enjoy a fire with wood from our property.

Just up a winding brick path, you'll find the hot tub behind our house, on a deck under tall fir trees with peekaboo views of the water. Our property is a haven for wildlife: the studio is surrounded by a forest that's home to many kinds of birds, including raptors, owls, and songbirds. Raccoons and deer wander through, and we're close to the seashore where seals swim, herons squawk, and crabs scuttle under eelgrass forests. A short walk down the driveway offers views of Chuckanut Bay.

The Studio shares the forest with our home, so we're available for questions and concerns. Our house is situated on a knoll overlooking the water, while the studio is in the forest just below. The two structures are separated by a driveway and woods, out of sight of each other. We share a common driveway, our cars blocked from the Studio's view by a neatly stacked woodpile. The Studio has many windows (with blinds), and we do drive and/or walk past the Studio when coming & going. Please note that the driveway alongside the Studio is bordered by train tracks in the canyon below (see note about train noise under Other Things To Note section of this listing)

The Chuckanut Forest Studio is ideal for nature lovers, outdoor adventurers, and those who want unique accommodation in a beautiful natural setting.

Guests have access to Studio amenities, hot tub, and all the trails Chuckanut Mountain has to offer. While there is no beach access on site, there are several beautiful beaches within walking or driving distance.

Other things to note
• NOISE - Our property is bordered by a forest to the west; woods, road and Chuckanut Bay to the north; Pleasant Bay to the south; and the Burlington Northern railway very nearby to the east, just beyond and below the Studio and driveway (about 50 feet from the Studio). Trains pass by frequently day and night and the freight engines' rumble can be noisy (though they thankfully seldom blow their whistles here). There is occasional work on the tracks below the studio, about 4-5 days/year at entirely unpredictable times. Some guests love the trains, others find the earplugs we provide helpful at night with the intermittent passing trains, or get accustomed to it as background noise (quite infrequently, a guest finds the passing night trains intolerably loud - it's really a subjective experience). We live in a neighborhood, so sounds of children playing and neighbors talking mingle with owls hooting, coyotes yipping in the distance, a nearby neighbor's rooster, and geese honking overhead.

• PETS - Please let us know if you're planning to bring a dog. We do charge a $25 pet fee. Though we do accept well-behaved dogs, we prefer smaller, non-shedding breeds, as dog hair can be invasive. Generally (though we like them!), we don’t accept cats. Pets are permitted in Studio only with prior approval. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up any pet refuse, as well as cleaning pet before they comes indoor. Pets are not allowed on furniture - including beds - at any time. Unfortunately, we’ve had pets leave claw marks on leather furniture and wood in the past (we’ve had to charge guests replacement costs and want to be sure this doesn’t happen again so we can continue to host pets in the studio). Please don’t leave pet unattended in the studio at any time, unless in a crate. Pets should be on leash or under voice control when outside the studio. We prefer minimally shedding breeds - if your dog sheds a lot, it would be great if you give the studio a quick sweep before you check out. Let us know if you would like any dog dishes or old towels.

• ACCESS - The ladder and hatch to the loft is for reasonably agile people - others might want to consider sleeping on the sofa bed below.

• TECHNOLOGY - Cell service is spotty at the Studio; though we have WiFi, texting and phone reception is unpredictable.

• MOBILITY CONSIDERATIONS - Be aware our property is unpaved, with some uneven pathways, and may not be ideal for those with mobility limitations.

• BEACHES - Though we'd love to allow access to the small private beach below the Studio, it is for local community use only. Other beautiful beaches are a walk or drive away.

• MINIMUM STAY - We ask for a two night minimum stay on weekends, but are happy to accommodate one night stays during the week in the off-season.

• HOT TUB - Though the hot tub is located behind our home, Studio guests have access to it 24/7. It's just a short walk up a brick path. Note that it's an older model tub with minimal jets, offering a lovely soak under the cedars and firs. While it’s nestled in the forest, and yours to use without others, we do occasionally walk past, as it sits alongside our home. The hot tub is also utilized at varying times by us and our Pleasant Bay Lookout guests. Typically there’s not a conflict with people wanting to use it at the same time. If someone happens to be in it when you walk up, just wait a bit and it will be all yours!

• PARKING - We can only accommodate parking for one car for Studio guests. Please let us know in advance if you'd like us to make an exception.

• WEATHER - Weather in Western Washington is unpredictable any time of year. Snow storms and heat waves are unusual, but may occur 1-2 times/year. Fall and winter occasionally bring high winds that can lead to power outages on our property. Though we can’t offer refunds, we will do our very best to ensure your comfort in the case of unexpected obstacles due to weather events.

• CARBON - We provide a 220V plug-in for electric cars, and offer a discount to anyone who arrives via bike or on foot.

• PLEASANT BAY LOOKOUT - There is one other rental on our property. Please be mindful of others, as there are usually additional guests on site.

Located on a quiet street and only a short walk to historic Fairhaven and Bellingham Bay. Whether you are looking for relaxation, remote work or just a great vacation to Bellingham look no further than than our duplex: the Happy Valley Guesthouse. You'll have your own private access and patio to the upper unit. The space
The property consist of two units. The unit available on Airbnb is the upper unit. Guests can park in the two gravel parking spaces located in the alley next to the carport. The unit consists of two cozy stylish bedrooms with a queen bed and two twin beds.

Guest access
Guests get the upper unit of the duplex all to themselves. Included is a private entrance and patio deck with seating. The yard and fire pits belong to the downstairs unit and are off limits.

Yard and fire pits are private. The zip line, swing and trampoline are off limits and belong to the down stairs unit. Thank you for understanding!

The spacious Bellingham Cabin Studio is the perfect basecamp for skiing, Mt biking, mountaineering, hiking, kayaking, and more. Its close to Lake Samish, Oyster Dome & Galbraith Mountain for world class mt biking. This is a cozy and relaxing loft where you can get inspiration and reprieve from the city! The space
The Bellingham Cabin Loft is is set in the trees, adjacent to Lake Samish. We do not have lake access but we do have several public access options to the lake within minutes from our house, where you can kayak, paddle board, etc. The main house is also located on the lot and the property is shared. We will give you your privacy and space, but you may see us coming and going.

Guest access
You will have access to the Loft as well as the main grassy area. It’s located near the lake but no lake access

Other things to note
The loft is located above our garage, but we will be courteous and only open/close during waking hours. We also have an outdoor cat, Daisy, she is very friendly and you will see her from time to time.
