WINTERTIME VISITORS! Amazing winter views across the lake! 35 minutes to PICO and 40 minutes to KILLINGTON! The local SNOWMOBILE TRAILS are accessible at the end of our street! The trails and the frozen lake are also perfect for snowshoeing, hiking or cross country skiing. Ice skate and/or ICE FISH right out front of the house on the lake!

SPRING AND FALL VISITORS: Dock gets installed in mid May each year and comes out mid October. No matter if you want to get a head start on the nice springtime weather or want to enjoy the beautiful FALL FOLIAGE VIEWS across the lake and all through Vermont, this house will not disappoint! MOUNTAIN BIKING and general hiking trails are accessible at the end of our street.

Take a historical trip to the Shelburne Museum, Hildene, or Wilson Castle. Travel to Vermont Teddy Bear Factory or enjoy the Ben and Jerry's Factory tour are other ways to explore nearby.

Magic Hat, Long Trail and Harpoon breweries as well as Shelburne Vineyard are experiences worth researching. Downtown Rutland, has many spots to enjoy. Yet, the peaceful views and activities on lake are the most enjoyable.

Clearly, there are perfect photographic opportunities watching the sunrise as the loons melodically call out and the bass jump toward the sunlight. The bald eagles will be in view from the deck. The magnificent Green Mountains are part of the landscape from our Western shore respite on the lake.

The fabulous screened in porch was where we ate, drank, worked on puzzles and mostly observed the wildlife, including a ‘resident’ Osprey, nesting finches, phoebes and other birds. We had a chipmunk friend who ate out of our hands and in our laps, while we relaxed on the deck overlooking the lake. The whole cottage had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was very well equipped as well. We used the grill on the deck and basked in the beauty of nature. Lynn was very helpful with a few questions we had, and enthusiastic as well… very nice. Our only outings were to Robo’s General Store for a couple supplies and ice cream. Great little place! We also had lunch at The Lakehouse Pub on Rte. 30 on the opposite side of the lake. Outstanding service and food, highly recommended. Overall, our best getaway ever!!!"

- "This house is one in a million. It is so private and set back from the road that it feels like you're on your own island while you're there, and yet, a few minute drive down the road, and you have shops and things to do galore. The house is huge and fits 12 easily. The kitchen is fully stocked with not only plates and bowls and regular items, but with all of the little things and gadgets you're use to having in your own kitchen (can openers, ice cube trays, serving platters, drink pitchers and waaaay more). Nighttime stargazers will be in heaven here, because when the sun goes down and you turn the lights off, it's so dark that you can see galaxies. The pond on the property wasn't exactly swimmable while we were there because there seemed to be a lot of over growth of the filtering plants (most likely due to the unprecedented amount of heavy rain the area got the week prior to our arrival). However, bomeseen state park is 5 minutes down the road and has an awesome swimming beach. The outdoor shower on the property was probably my favorite thing. It had great pressure, awesome air flow, and such a beautiful view from inside of it. Best showers I've ever taken! The firepit was very large and the log benches were a cute addition to it. It was so peaceful sitting around the fire, staring up at the stars. All in all, our family had a wonderful time at the bluebell lake retreat and we definitely plan on making it an annual trip!"

When I say pond you need to understand it is over 70 feet deep. The piece and quite of this is hard to find in today's busy world. Imagine having your morning coffee down by the water or in the fully screened in porch. There is a small cozy nook for your family to play games at or have a great family dinner. The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable each with its own bathroom. Even has a washer and dryer. Everything you would need to have your family make memories that will last a life time.

- "I stayed here while visiting a friend in nearby Poultney, VT. Price was good and it worked out well for my needs." - "The property wasn't very orderly and clean. There was a bucket of dirty floor water with a mop in it, laundry in the washing machine, dust "bunnies" under the beds and in the living room and the coffee pot had been put away with a used coffee filter left in it. The electricial for the bidet was suspect. The refrigerator wasn't cold but the property manager brought us a small one so our food didn't spoil. A "user" guide would have been helpful especially with the TV ( no one of know how to stream) . I hope that this property can fix these issues as it is very spacious."

- "Our family had a wonderful week at Camp Happy! Everything we needed was there. Outside, we spent the days using the SUPs, kayaks, Lily Pad float. We relaxed on the deck for countless hours, along with the other lounging areas. There was ample room at the docks for our boat rental and fishing. I do want to note that if old, the many steps from the house are steep. My 83 year old mom managed them fine, but we usually helped her. She really loved sitting up on the deck overseeing the activities at the dock and on the lake. Inside was very comfortable and clean. The kitchen had everything needed to cook, including the typical condiments and spices. There was ample seating for our group of 7, plus a few local friends to visit during a few days. We had a great time playing pictionary and cards. We had comfortable sleeping arrangements. I want to note that access to one of the rooms is via the master. And another room is below the deck from which you have to go up the outside steps to go to the bathroom. However, neither of those bothered us. The shower in the master was fantastic! Sarah was an excellent host and responded to any questions or concerns immediately. Thank you, Sarah, for sharing Camp Happy with us for our '24 Lake Bomo week. We hope to visit again!! "

The building is a historical landmark known as The Dog built in 1903 with modern electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling. This is a comfortable well lit studio. The boat slip is across the street and can accommodate up to a 20ft boat. We have completely renovated the building and furnished the units with modern appliances. Come work remote, enjoy the lake, relax and have fun.

The space
Apt 2B is a studio with a changing room unit on the second floor of The Dog in Lake Bomoseen. There is a fold down couch bed and a pull out twin size bed. An intercom video door entry is available to allow guests entry in the main door.

Guest access
The floor has a small 2-person balcony shared by the three apartments on the floor. The boat docks are across the street. The "Dog" bar/ restaurant is open in summer.

Other things to note
There is not an elevator. The historic building is not ADA accessible. Sorry, no pets.
