Rent bikes and bike into Haarlem — it’s such a charming area and picturesque as you bike there. Staff was great to communicate with before I got there — however after I arrived I emailed them twice and they never responded. Also it’s not possible for US citizens to rent the lodge’s bikes online so figure something out with them beforehand because it torture walking by the bikes everyday and not being able to ride them. Will stay here again when we return. "

The closest is a McDonald's, but it is only a 15-minute walk away (you can safely walk there at midnight). If you want to get to the supermarket, you may have to invest in a 25-30 minute walk or take a bus ride, but the bus stops every 30 minutes. The transportation outside of that is pretty good. You can also buy your groceries before arriving at the hotel. The downside is that the restaurant opens at 10 AM and closes at 9 PM. There are no breakfast options available, and you can't buy anything to take to your room; everything has to be consumed inside the restaurant. There is no reception after 6 PM, so make sure you let the hotel know if you need to check in late. Otherwise, they have an emergency phone number you can call, and they will solve your check-in.
