Right at the water's edge at the big bend in Cayuga Lake just north of Ithaca, The Point is located on 1.5 level acres, with no cliffs/hillsides & an incredibly rare 650+ feet of lake frontage. The 3 BR/1.5 Bath, 1700 sq ft, fully-insulated, 4-season cottage faces 270-degree lake views, plus a private cove at the back of the house. It feels a bit like being on an island, right in the center of Cayuga Lake! The house is itself is an older (1970's) build, but has been furnished for comfort. What makes this property really special is the unparalleled location, spacious grounds, shoreline, and views! The east shore location means fantastic sunset views, while the south facing point means you also get sunrises! The best of both worlds!

* Boaters: The property has 2 docks. The FRONT dock on Cayuga Lake is a great place to relax or fish, but heavy/multi-directional wave action at the very tip of the point *does not permit boat mooring*. The BACK dock provides access to the calm cove behind the house that connects to Cayuga Lake via the next-door marina & receives almost no wave action. Jet skis & small boats with shallow drafts may be moored here, but navigation from the marina through a narrow & shallow opening under a short bridge is required, which limits the freeboard height of boats that may pass through. As a result, *not all boats can access the cove and back dock*. Please message us for more detailed information. Alternatively, the next-door marina (Lansing Harbor) is a very short walk & usually has available temporary slip rental (also a gas dock), which offers a very convenient storage alternative; pontoon boats may also be rented here. The marina is not affiliated with our property, so inquire directly with them for costs. Alternatively, trailered boats may be launched at the Myers Park launch, re-trailered when done & parked in the Point gravel parking area when not in use.

To arrive at the Point, pass through the neighboring marina to reach our private oasis. The marina is close enough to be convenient but doesn't intrude on the property privacy. A flat gravel drive leads the parking area & house right at lake level.

There are 3 bedrooms (BR1=1 king , BR2=1 queen+1 twin, BR3=1 queen) & 2 bathrooms (1 full bath w/shower+tub combo & & 1 half-bath). As an older home, the bathrooms are small & modest, consistent with its era, but are clean & functional. All three BRs overlook the private cove to the north of the house, great for wildlife viewing throughout the year. During the summer months, window A/C units are provided in each bedroom, & fans are provided throughout the rest of the house to move cool lake breezes through the many windows. Please do note that while the house is well-maintained & well-appointed to make your stay fun & comfortable, this is a quirky older home, in a more rural location.

The perfect mix of nature & convenience, the Point is the perfect spot - far enough from everything to be relaxing, but an easy 10-15 minute drive to Ithaca, & close to a wide range of area attractions. You really won’t find anyplace else like it. Rise early & take in the stillness at sunrise. Enjoy the lake breezes & the sound of the waves against the rocky lakeshore. Hunt for fossils & lucky stones in the lakeshore shale. Spot the enormous carp amongst the water lilies in the cove behind the house. Explore the area parks, waterfalls, & wineries. Quietly observe a stealthy great blue heron stalking along the water's edge, & marvel at a passing bald eagle or an osprey abruptly plunging out of the sky. Laugh with loved ones & unwind around a bonfire. Let the sound of the water against the rocks & the conversations of the frogs in the back cove lull you to sleep at night. Originally purchased by the family in the 1930s as a waterfowl-hunting property, this property attracts local wildlife. We see a huge variety of waterfowl, as well as kingfishers, flickers, orioles, woodpeckers, various songbirds, osprey, bald eagles, hawks, owls, turkeys, blue & green herons, turtles, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, voles, beavers, muskrats, a fisher, minks, raccoons, opossums, woodchucks, foxes, & deer who visit at various times.

We do our best to keep them out of the house, but because we are so close to the water, use of chemical sprays are ethically & legally limited due to environmental impacts. To reduce the numbers that sneak inside, do not leave food out, keep doors/screens closed & turn off attracting lights in empty rooms (especially at night).

This sweet little house has an open floor plan with a sleeping loft and beautiful views looking southwest over Cayuga Lake. Decks on two sides of the house lead to a “flight” of four decks below the house. The kitchen has a small refrigerator, induction burners, small oven, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, and lots of cooking utensils and dishware. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub. On the decks, a gas grill and plenty of chairs and picnic tables for relaxing and entertaining.

Ideal for two, but can sleep four to six: queen mattress in loft, fold-out sofa bed, couch, and camping out in tents on the decks under large shade trees or on the double mattress in the boat house.

Not handicapped accessible: 28 gentle stone steps from the road down to the house, 3 to 6 steps between the decks, steep stairs down to the dock, boat house, and pebble beach, and in the house, a library ladder up to the sleeping loft.

Wifi. No smoking or incense. Pets considered.

- "Communication was great. We had a great time staying here and spent alot of time traveling to Ithaca for restaurants and hiking. The only things I thought were not explained well is that the bed in loft is on the floor, but it was still semi-comfortable. And the other thing is the bathtub..there is no shower but a handheld showerhead so you have to kind of sit down and shower as to not get water everywhere. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and those were merely minor things we just werent aware of."

- "Our group (8 adults and 2 infants) stayed here for a week and it was wonderful. The house is large enough for everyone to spread out if they wanted to but we spent the majority of time on the deck. We spent mornings out there using the sectional and table that seats eight. When we had too much sun on the dock, we would come up for lunch. We ate dinner out there each night. The rooms had everything we needed and the bathrooms were clean. We brought way too much stuff because we hadn’t anticipated how well stocked the house would be. They have pots and pans and cutting boards and basic spices. We also saw there were garbage bags and dishwasher tabs. We appreciated that there was laundry available for use, although the laundry room does have a bit of dampness. We took it in stride because it’s a lake house after all. There wasn’t dampness anywhere else. We would for sure stay here again."

The yard is large and great for yard games, the fire pit is nice to relax by at night and there is a lot to do nearby. We made our way to the brewery a few minutes down the road which had good food and was family/dog friendly. There are great waterfalls and hikes in Ithica, which is only about a 10 minute drive. Only thing missing was the lake, which is also not far - there is a small beach with boat rentals at a park a few minutes away. However, I got the impression from the VRBO marketing that the inn was closer to the lake and town. The on-site pub was handy, with good food and beverages. However, our second night there, it was out of commission due to computer snafus, so we had to go elsewhere for dinner. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen often because the inn is out in the country. I would definitely recommend this inn!"

Beautiful home and great property." - "This was for a mom’s weekend away and we had a wonderful time! The house is huge and clean. The beds comfy, and many of them king size. The location is private and the hot tub was a huge bonus. Great location close to vineyards. The toilet in the hall bathroom and house water pressure was a bit of an obstacle but the sellers said they would be addressing it. It wasn’t a big enough deal for us to bring up until we left, so I know they will fix it :) But with 7 ladies needing showers before going out to the vineyards, it just delayed things. Even with that little hiccup, we still give this house 5 stars!! Thank you for a nice stay."

Three bedroom and two baths . Airy , contemporary master bedroom suite , good sized entry, sunroom and spacious kitchen with a snack bar plus dining room. Laundry on site is available for your convenience ,if you choose , and is located In the common area in the attached separate wing. . Great location! Kayak rentals available at the park and two marinas steps away. 15 minutes to Cornell, downtown and wineries. Lansing schools and bus route only 2/10 mile.

- "The house was immaculate! We loved being right next to Myers Park, where we took many walks each day. They also have swimming there as well. The house has a fantastic backyard! It was great to have a gas grilll! The owner of the house was extremely responsive to all of my questions...We took many long rides in this beautiful countryside. The home was large, clean and had enough space for our merged families of 8 adults and teens. It was a few minutes walk from Meyer's Park and the marina and has a nice large backyard for a campfire and grilling. Check in was simple and we had no issues with anything during our stay except for a lost remote control, which was addressed quickly by the co- host, Mary. It should be noted that the house has an attached apartment with a tenant, but this did not get in our way at all and had no impact on our stay. The tenant has a separate entrance and the only time we crossed paths was in our search for linens in the shared laundry room. She was pleasant and helpful as well. We were satisfied with our stay and recommend this home to others. It was nearby to the state parks and Ithaca. We found everything we needed in the local community. It was a good location and a great price. "
