Christmas availability - a cosy, Cornish Christmas with the magical 'Mousehole Lights'
Nestled on romantic Poldark's coastline, Island Watch is a small but beautiful, purpose-built apartment set on two levels with stunning views of Mount's Bay and St Clement's Island and a private balcony. The apartment makes a romantic, convenient and comfortable base from which to enjoy South West Cornwall: in December for the magic of a traditional old English Village Christmas, in the Spring for the walking and the flowers, in Summer for the beaches or, for one of our famous Indian Summers right into November. And every day when you rise or come home, you have the spectacular sea views to drink in from your lounge or the private balcony. It's a great spot for a honeymoon or special anniversary.
For Island Watch, made just for two, climb the simple wooden steps to your own entrance leading onto the first floor. Here you'll find the lounge with kitchenette and French doors to the sheltered balcony. Flanked by palm trees you can sip fresh coffee from the Nespresso machine and watch the wildlife in the sea and on the Island. The balcony is sheltered and quite a suntrap. The small wc and shower are also on this level.
Upstairs to the bedroom under the eaves. Here there's a very comfortable kingsized bed with good mattress (we renew regularly) and good quality cotton linen. There's also a small sofa, a selection of books (English, French and German) and storage space for your clothes. From the skylight you can see the Island again and if you leave it open, fall asleep listening to the sound of the water lapping on the shore some 50 metres away.
Parking right in front of the apartment gives you peace of mind in coming and going - so much of Mousehole has no reliable parking to offer. The flat is equipped with: TV, DVD player, Ipod dock and radio, Wifi, microwave/small oven, two plate induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, Nespresso coffee machine, tea, coffee.
We live next door to the apartment and are happy to welcome you and leave you to yourselves or be on hand for any questions you may have or tips you need during your stay. If we are on holiday ourselves, my mother lives nearby and is on hand for any needs you have.
The house is neighboured by the gardens of the Old Coastguard Hotel, a boutique hotel with 13 rooms and a very fine restaurant. This is a quiet establishment and a lovely place to dine - but do book.
- "Clean, comfortable, warm, very well placed and a wonderful view of the ocean from the balcony (especially for the new year fireworks). Bus to Penzance right outside and the car park space was invaluable, the hosts were amazing, friendly and gave brilliant details on where to eat and places to visit, loved it. " - "Great compact accommodate. Had everything you would need great view and parking which in cornwall is essential.ideal to explore Cornwall or just chill watching the sea and the Seals.Nice pub next door for food if you didnt wanna cook on the small limited cooker .Highly recommended"

- "Excellent location with great views. Cottage had everything you need for a relaxing stay. Mousehole is a quaint fishing village, not overcrowded and the harbour is picturesque with a pub (the ship) that serves good food and an excellent pint." - "Beautiful home and well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. Gorgeous view. Brilliant it has a car parking space" - "The location of this cottage is superb. Even though the weather was not the kindest, the cottage has great views of the sea and it was very atmospheric watching the wild sea from the upstairs window. Being just before the main village (but still only a 2 minute walk to the harbour) meant that there was no issue with having to get the car through the narrow streets. The parking space very close to the cottage is tight but enough for a Mercedes Estate. All the communication with Phay and the booking etc was very easy and clear. Thanks for a great week!"

Trevilley is a light and airy family house enjoying spectacular panoramic sea views over Mount's Bay and St Michael's Mount. Situated in the picturesque village of Mousehole, the house is a two minute stroll from the harbour with its two sandy beaches, shallow waters and fishing and sailing boats.
Trevilley, which sleeps 6 people (or 8 from May to October with 2 extra guests in the summer house), is ideal as a romantic getaway, for walkers (the Cornish South West Coast path goes straight past the front door), surfers, those who just want to wind down (it's impossible not to relax here) and it's perfect for families - the house is fully equipped will all the bits needed for young children (travel cot, toddler pillows, duvets and bedding (infant sleeping bags are not provided), 2 travel high chairs, kids’ cutlery and crockery, stick blender, large washer/dryer etc). Even on a dull day, the house is filled with light due to its extraordinary east facing position, combined with large windows that make the most of the views.
In the winter months, it's the perfect place to put on your walking boots and discover Cornish land and seascapes (the walk from the house along the coast to Lamorna is stunning), soothe those aching limbs in the Jacuzzi bath and then get cosy with a glass of something next to the roaring open fire. The view remains beautiful whatever the weather and you can feel yourself unwind just watching the sea roll in.
Christmas and New Year is a particularly special time of year. The wonderful annual switching on of the Mousehole lights really gets you into the festive spirit with mulled wine, a local brass band playing Christmas carols alongside the Mousehole male voice choir. Tom Bawcock night on 23 December is also special - the Ship Inn serves up the legendary starry-gazy pie to all visitors and children release lanterns into the harbour.
From May to October a charming summer house, sleeping an extra 2 people, is also available at £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house at the time of booking).
Up to 2 well behaved dogs are welcome at Trevilley. There is an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay for this. We kindly ask that dogs remain downstairs - they are not permitted on the beds.
The details...
A large entrance porch provides ample space to store beach bags, wellies and coats. This leads to a spacious well equipped kitchen crafted by a local artisan from reclaimed wood. It leads into a utility room with a large washer/dryer, indoor and outdoor clothes horse and iron.
From here another, door leads into the wet room (an ideal place to have a shower after a day on the beach or to hang your wetsuit) and a downstairs toilet.
The kitchen also leads directly into the dining room, a light filled space with beautiful local art work and stunning sea views. It comfortably seats eight in colourful chairs set around an old sea captain's wooden table. If you are lucky enough to be seated at the head of the table, you will have direct views onto St Clement’s Island.
In front of the dining room and the adjacent sitting room lies a spectacular and spacious sea viewing room with extraordinary panoramic views of the Lizard, St. Michael's Mount, the village, the harbour and St.Clement's Island. This is the ideal place to relax with a coffee, a good book or simply be mesmerised by the ever changing colours of the sea and sky.
A south facing door leads onto a covered decking area with a big glass table and chairs, a perfect place to have breakfast on a sunny morning and perhaps spot some seals, basking-sharks or dolphins. In recent months, we have also seen humpback whales breaching in the bay.
Through another set of double doors from the conservatory you enter the cosy sitting room with its big open fire place, comfy leather sofa and chairs and its quirky furniture made from our decommissioned wooden fishing boat.
An open staircase leads from here to the first floor. The sea-facing master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with two basins and a whirlpool bath and a toilet. The comfortable kingsize double bed promises a restful night with its crisp linen and luxurious bedding. There are two bedside tables with drawers and a small wardrobe. Wake up to a beautiful sunrise over the bay and the sound of the waves lapping the shore. Bliss!
The other sea-facing room has shaker style twin beds, a large basin, one bedside table with drawers and a chest of drawers. From these rooms the view of the sunrise over the Lizard and the sound of the sea breaking over St. Clements Island remind you on waking that you are in beautiful Cornwall.
The third bedroom houses adult-size bunk beds a bedside table with drawers and storage under the bunks. A travel cot is available to use along with sheets (infant pillows/duvets/sleeping bags are not provided). All bedrooms have adequate space for a travel cot. The master bedroom can accommodate two travel cots (if, like us, you are lucky enough to have twins!).
Between the twin and bunk room there is another bathroom with a bath and stand up shower and toilet.
The Summer House
Also enjoying splendid views, the summer house is ideal for teenagers or maybe grandparents who like to enjoy a little independence.
It consists of a large living space, sofa, table and chairs, a kitchenette made out of reclaimed wood from fishing vessels, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. A separate bedroom contains a shaker double bed and small wardrobe with an en suite shower room, toilet and basin. The summer house is an additional £495 per week in addition to the rental of the main house (please request the summer house on booking).
Garden
Trevilley is surrounded by a large garden consisting of several sheltered sitting areas, all enjoying sublime views. There are many colourful shrubs and bushes with something in bloom throughout the year. Please also help yourself to the fresh herb garden and use the compost bin for vegetable food waste.
There is a built-in granite BBQ, a shed where beach items can be stored and for the literary inclined lines of poetry carved into the slate paving stones.
Parking
Mousehole is built around its beautiful harbour and has narrow windy streets. There is no off street parking at the house. Free parking is possible on Raginnis Hill but it does get busy during peak season and it may not always be possible to find a spot during the school holidays. Alternatively, there is Mousehole harbour parking on the south and the north quays for £5 per day or at the Old Coastguard hotel for £11 per day (pay via Just Park parking app).
- "We loved the space and light in this cottage and the location. There were useful supplies left for us too like logs, laundry capsules, milk, tea. But it’s the views across St Clements & St Michael’s Mount that make this house very special." - "My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay here which was relaxing throughout in an idyllic setting. Great location to visit all local beaches as well as local restaurants in Mousehole, Newlyn and Penzance. We will definitely return"

Standing proud on our romantic Poldark coastline, Seal Point Villa is a spacious seaside house on the edge of the historic village of Mousehole. As a home from home, it 'gives kindly' to all its guests, whether just a couple on a getaway or a multi-generational group of up to 9.
Come and create those magical Cornish memories, that so many of us cherish from childhood: Easter with the spring-time flowers and beach surprises, Summer on the sands and in the water or an old-fashioned village Christmas with the famous Mousehole Christmas Lights.
Seal Point Villa in a nutshell:
* full sea views from nearly every room (five bedrooms)
* spacious interior
* very good beds and linen including 1 S-King and 2 Kings
* safe gated garden, toys, books
* 4 mins walk from 2 sandy, sheltered historic harbour beaches
* Mousehole's famous rockpool at the end of the gated garden
* seals and wildlife to watch from the garden
* 10-15 mins drive from a dozens of other sandy beaches
* golf, snorkelling, surfing, coasting, paddle-boarding, diving, sailing, fishing, theatre, coastal walks all nearby
* well equipped open-plan kitchen, pantry space, utility room
* outside hot shower
* BT infinity WIFI
* parking for 2 cars (more if you ‘shuffle’)
* NB prices are quoted for up to 6 with additional charge for additional guests to keep things fair and enable smaller groups to enjoy the house. If you are just two of you, please ask as we may be able to offer a slightly reduced rate at some points of the year.
Flexibility
We have regular couples or foursomes who come every year to enjoy the space and views. Then there are larger family groups who come to enjoy special inter-generational family memory-making time together. The house lends itself well to many sizes and configurations. Please ask about special rates for parties of four or less.
Space to Relax:
So whether you’re a family of 4 or 6 looking or a larger family group up to nine or ten, Seal Point is a seaside home from home. Large rooms and hallways and plenty of bathrooms mean everyone can enjoy being together but also have their own space to relax.
Different Needs and ‘Must Haves’:
With sea views from most rooms and the lounge, dining room and kitchen, with large comfortable beds, four bathrooms (plus a downstairs wc and warm outside shower), parking, wifi, a safe garden, toys and books on hand…we hope the different members of any party will find their needs met. We are fussy ourselves when we go away, so know how important the different elements can be. If you’re the one booking, meeting all the needs can be a tough job - please do not hesitate to ask any specific questions to make sure it’s a fit.
Logistics:
Seal Point was a much loved family home until we had to move away and let it some years ago. Many bookings happen now by word of mouth but we also advertise here. A professional changeover team manages the house and a relative lives nearby to welcome and help with queries.
Relaxation or Activity:
So...what's it like to live here? Sip a good coffee and savour a cream tea on the terrace while the children play on the climbing fort in the large gated garden. Watch sea birds, seals, old luggers and sometimes dolphins from the living room.
It's a 3-5 minute walk to the fine restaurants, cafes and galleries of 500 year old Mousehole and the sandy beaches of the small harbour which is perfect for swimming with children. Older children and teens love the water fun in the harbour and can play there in relative independence.
Being so close to the clean sandy harbour beaches, it's perfect for bright young sparks to go to the beach while others enjoy a lazy breakfast on the terrace or indeed for tired little ones to come home for naps or to refuel, while older siblings play for hours in the safe waters. Mousehole harbour is one of the few places where you can mess about in inflatables in relative safety (always supervise, of course).

- "As a way to celebrate my husband’s 75th birthday and our 40th anniversary we decided to bring our family to Cornwall and introduce our grandsons (7, 3 & 2) to my husband’s sister, brother and extended family. In addition they were treated to stories from grandad about growing up in Cornwall. The home was beyond our expectations. The first thing you notice is the amazing view. Our 3 grandsons were obsessed with the trampoline and rock pool. We took advantage of the sea walk in to Mousehole almost daily and celebrated our son and daughter-in-law’s 4 yr anniversary at the Mousehole deli/ restaurant. We loved being able to walk in to Newlyn to Jelberts for ice cream. The bus stop right out front was utilized on more than one occasion. The house was welcoming, we were greeted with a lovely basket filled with local treasures (the Ginger cookies were a big hit) and fresh flowers that became more beautiful every day. There was much more room than we anticipated. Plenty of space for multi generations. We had everything we needed to prepare meals. And again, the view! The toy cupboard kept our grandsons busy when we weren’t on adventures. As we were coming from the US, Esme was kind enough to supply beach towels for our trips to Porthcurno and Marizion. The many bathrooms and bedrooms were perfect for our group. The linens were wonderfully comfortable. If you are looking for a place with the comforts of home and a holiday feel, Seal Point can’t be beat. We had the best time…"

A local shipwright, Henry Wright, who traded in Jamaica, built the cottage in 1835, hence the name of this small terrace of cottages. A characterful granite cottage with wonderful sea views from the living room and bedroom, towards St Christopher's Isle and Mounts Bay beyond.
In a very quiet area of the village in an area best accessed on foot, you'll find all the amenities in short walking distance from pubs, cafes, restaurants, galleries and a small local shop. The harbour beach is a 1 minute walk.
As you enter Jamaica Terrace you'll instantly note historic features, like the range in the kitchen, kitchen tiles and the narrow/steep staircase.
The kitchen and lounge area are on the ground floor. The kitchen is equipped with a modern electric oven and hob, washing machine, crockery, utensils and a small dining table for two.
The cosy lounge has comfortable seating, a wood burner for cosy evenings, table and chairs, TV and a large window with lovely views.
Head upstairs and you'll find the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom features a king size bed, chest of drawers, hanger, dressing table and a fabulous window seat to while away some time with a book. And did we mention the views? This is the best spot in the house in our opinion.
The spacious bathroom is a favourite feature of ours. The roll top bath (with overhead shower), stunning paint choices, original wood panelling and choices of fixtures make this a stunning space for a soak and relax.
Please note the following:
The stairs are steep and narrow.
The property has a sprinkler system in the kitchen to provide additional safety in the event of a fire.
Parking is not provided, we recommend either the Harbour or Mousehole Car Park on the edge of the village. (The train to Penzance and then a bus or taxi to the village is a great way to arrive).
Unloading isn't possible outside, we'd recommend walking from the car parks with luggage (5 minute walk).
Mousehole is a lovely neighbourhood with a strong local community. With a history as a fishing village the harbour is the focal point of the village.
We're a local team at Ocean Holidays Cornwall, we manage the property on behalf of the owners.
Based in Penwith we have excellent local knowledge and can recommend several stunning places to visit including beaches, restaurants, things to do and great walks.
Our approach is generally hands off, we use a keysafe system for easy check-in/out but we may just knock on to say hello. The owners do live in the village itself.
We're here to assist by phone or the Airbnb messaging service.
Mousehole is a traditional village which attracts visitors all year around. It's traditional granite cottages, picturesque harbour and renowned arts scene make it a great place all year round. In the village itself you'll find a pub (The Ship Inn), cafes, a couple of restaurants including the renowned The Old Coastguard, galleries and a small selection of shops.
There are some excellent walks nearby, the South West Coast Path to the West has some stunning rugged scenery, towards Newlyn is a nice easy walk to this fishing port with a good local indy cinema, excellent fishmongers and some great restaurants to.
Mousehole has some very narrow roads and a one way system which makes driving around the village itself quite tricky. If you can travel by public transport to Cornwall with ease you might find that a good way to get to Mousehole, particularly in the busier times. Penzance is on the mainline and is a 15 minute taxi away, there is also a bus service. Once here you will find lots in the immediate area and local buses can take you to some of the most stunning places in this corner of the UK. There are also bike hires in Penzance which can be really handy.
If arriving by car we'd suggest using one of the two main car parks, you'll find you can access several other parts of West Cornwall with relative ease so exploring can be much easier with a car.

- "We had a lovely week in Cornwall despite the terrible weather! This cottage is located in a fabulous place in Mousehole. A very very short walk (2/3 minutes) to the harbour, pub, restaurant, small shops etc. The cottage is a little dated but really clean and well equipped. The drive is a little tight for a big car, which we have but still adequate and a luxury in Mousehole! A fuse blew when we were there and we couldn’t locate the fuse board, phoned the owner, we were helped immediately over the phone and an offer to come out the following day to change the bulb offered. We would definitely recommend. "

Enjoy a stylish experience in this refurbished, centrally yet quietly located Grade II listed cottage moment's from Mousehole's old harbour. The cottage oodles warmth and charm with its beamed ceilings, stuccoed walls and fireplace downstairs and the vaulted bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite upstairs. Much thought has been put into its decoration, with natural furnishings by Rowen & Wren. This is definitely a space for thinkers and romancers seeking a get-away-from-it-all retreat.
The Old Gallery is in the heart of the fishing village of Mousehole just seconds from the harbour but located on a quiet street. The space has been designed for people looking for an escape from the distractions of day-to-day life. It is somewhere to read, write, converse, create and catch up on sleep within the folds of luxury Hungarian Goose Down bedding. There are well kept games in the tall boy including Art Deco Scrabble Edition, Trivia Quiz cards, Playing Cards, Cribbage etc. There is super fast WIFI too and a Smart TV for streaming via your account for BBC iPlayer, Prime etc, (but no terrestrial). All the furnishings are natural and each piece of furniture has been produced by artisan makers. We ask you to respect this by removing your shoes in the cottage and using coasters on all surfaces. Please note, like most traditional cottages, the ceiling height downstairs averages at 6ft 2'', upstairs is vaulted, light and airy.

Town: Mousehole is a charming fishing community that spills down to the coast from a hillside. Visitors travel from miles away to see the charming harbour, which is encircled by a tangle of winding, tiny alleys, while Mounts Bay's St. Michael's Mount is seen in the distance. Seabirds, seals, and untamed headlands lead just around the corner to Land's End, and the area features a fantastic coastline and miles of magnificent trekking. A few miles up the coast is the Minack cliff-top theatre, and dolmens and standing stones, remnants of the area's prehistoric past, are visible everywhere. It's only 12 miles to St. Ives, which is known for its breath-taking beaches, charming port, and winding streets.
- "We enjoyed staying in this stunning cottage which was set in the heart of Mousehole. Set over 3 floors, there was plenty of room for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers). The weather wasn't perfect so we spent a few evenings around the kitchen table playing games (lots provided!) Or comfortably settled in on the sofa. The bedrooms are a good size and the bathroom was new looking with a great shower and bath. All mod cons in the kitchen. Only downside was no washing machine. Mousehole itself is a perfect location and is a lovely little community. So close to many great beaches for surfing and fab beach walks. Would highly recommend Mermaid Cottage as a place to stay and we hope to visit again!"
