- "Excellent location with great views. Cottage had everything you need for a relaxing stay. Mousehole is a quaint fishing village, not overcrowded and the harbour is picturesque with a pub (the ship) that serves good food and an excellent pint." - "Beautiful home and well equipped kitchen. Comfy beds. Gorgeous view. Brilliant it has a car parking space" - "The location of this cottage is superb. Even though the weather was not the kindest, the cottage has great views of the sea and it was very atmospheric watching the wild sea from the upstairs window. Being just before the main village (but still only a 2 minute walk to the harbour) meant that there was no issue with having to get the car through the narrow streets. The parking space very close to the cottage is tight but enough for a Mercedes Estate. All the communication with Phay and the booking etc was very easy and clear. Thanks for a great week!"

We enjoyed walks in the village each morning as well as accessibility to everything nearby. The cottage is warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!" - "One of the nicest private rentals we've ever stayed! Modern, clean, and updated but with an absolute sense of place. When I visit a unique area I want the place I sleep to reflect that but also have modern convenience. This hit all the marks. Angela was very responsive and easy to communicate with. The tub was welcome after our long hike as was the washer. Ideally located right in the village which made it easy to pop in/out. Bed wasn't great for us but none of the mattresses on this trip were. We're very spoiled in the US with our sleep number bed :-) Highly recommend staying here. We can't wait to visit this property again."

As regards parking for the cottage, even though it was August we easily parked up each night on the harbour front for £3 (24hrs) but try and avoid the top car park at the entrance to Mousehole as it is very expensive. The owners and the locals are all very welcoming and happy to helpoffer advice. We were able to walk from the cottage straight on to the coastal path routes and therefore not take the car out every day. However, don’t miss a day out at The LizardPorthcurno Beach! A beautiful set up in a beautiful place."

The Loft House is an inviting and uniquely renovated Fisherman’s cottage for four, moments from Mousehole’s beautiful harbour. The cottage is set over three floors and features beautiful original features, alongside contemporary finishes. A cosy fireplace, private courtyard and beamed ceilings alongside a pretty plant-filled courtyard - the perfect place for a morning coffee or BBQ, or relax on the private sun terrace with a glass of something chilled as the sun goes down.
- "A little gem of a place, 2 minutes from the harbour. Very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. Neil was really helpful and suggested many lovely local places to eat. I highly recommend this property" - "Charming, well-appointed and within 50 steps of the harbor. One of the best vacation rentals we’ve had. We happened to be there on the warmest day in UK history. But the Loft House was comfortable and a good jumping off point for hikes along the coast and swimming for our teenagers from the town quay. We would stay there for a week if we could."

- "The property was very well presented clean and very well equipped. The location is excellent with many walks and transport within easy reach. We would certainly stay at Kitchen Cottage again and will recommend it to friends and family. We did not have a car, which is a benefit for those who are fairly fit as parking can be difficult to find during busy periods." - "As a family of 2 adults a toddler a baby and a dog, this was a really nice home to stay in. It had all the amenities we needed from microwave to an outdoor space the dog could "go" in or we could eat out in. And just around the corner was the harbour where there was a beach and swimming to be enjoyed. The only let downs were the narrowness of the bathroom (not great for washing the little ones when you need to stay with them) and the lack parking to offload a family's luggage (but that is to be expected in Mousehole). A bustling fishing port until the mid 16th Century, the picturesque village of Mousehole nestles on the south coast of Cornwall between Penzance and Land's End.
Today, its narrow, winding streets are lined with small shops, galleries and restaurants, while a pretty harbour edged with traditional, granite cottages crouches protected from the prevailing storms by two imposing breakwaters that give it its distinctive shape. Perfectly in keeping with Mousehole's fishing port heritage, Mariners Cottage is an original 17th Century fisherman's cottage with a charming, whitewashed façade and staggering views from every sea-facing window.
Recently refurbished and elegantly updated, this lovely home offers a bright and inviting space, with a combination of coast-inspired décor and authentic features, that create a chic and relaxing atmosphere throughout. Arranged over three floors, two lovely bedrooms can be found upstairs with a gorgeous master bedroom on the first floor and a sumptuous twin room on the upper. Both rooms have crisp, high quality linen and feature large sash windows; perfect for taking in the sweeping oceanscape views and enjoying the ever-changing moods of the sky. Downstairs, the delightful living area in calming, neutral tones is open-plan with the well-designed kitchen, and has an inviting sofa and two occasional chairs arranged cosily around a fabulous wood-burning stove.
Stepping out through the stable door to the front of the cottage is a fantastic, enclosed waters' edge garden with wonderful far-reaching views over Mount's Bay towards St Michael's Mount and Lizard Point. Comfortably furnished with a table and plenty of seating, it's the ideal place for fresh-air dining or for enjoying a glass of bubbly while watching the sun set over the water.
*Please note that this property is unsuitable for children under 10 years old due to the low wall separating the terrace from a large drop down to the water's edge.
**This property allows one small dog only. Guests visiting with a pet will need to provide proof of a recent flea treatment before arrival.
***Guests will need to bring own kindling and logs for the wood-burning stove.

- "Charming and well designed 2 BR spot right on the waters edge. Enjoy coffee in the morning sun on the front veranda and beers for happy hour. Spacious master bath. Tight staircase and top floor bedroom has little room on the sides of the bed. Decor was well done. Laundry in unit. No traffic as it’s a pedestrian path. It’s a sweet spot." - "Really enjoyed stay our stay and will definitely return. I know there’s not much you can do about it but would put some guidance re parking and maybe provide map with precise location of cottage prior to arrival as took a bit of working out when we arrived"

LOCATION
Mousehole is Cornwall at its absolute best and it’s obvious as to why the iconic fishing village is such a popular location. Its origins date back as far as the 12th century when it was the main fishing port in Mounts Bay, and much of its old-world charm has remained. You can feel the history when you stroll around its higgledy-piggledy lanes.
The village hugs the coastline and is protected by Raginnis Hill, making it a real suntrap to soak up the Cornish sun. Mousehole is also a foodie hot-spot, with a good selection of restaurants, cafes, two delis, and the working harbour of Newlyn being in easy reach. Mousehole harbour lights are perhaps the most famous attraction, when hundreds of people each year come to see the village illuminated by Christmas lights. With so much within a half an hour drive you can really enjoy the best of the far west of Cornwall.

Jamaica Terrace is a carefully appointed historic Grade II listed cottage tucked in the heart of Mousehole, just short a stroll from the harbour front.
A perfect home for couples and single travellers, you'll be enjoying fabulous sea views from the moment you wake up each day.
With a sympathetic yet complete refurbishment retaining iconic and interesting features, such as the range in the kitchen or the wood panelling in the bathroom, you'll be charmed by the history of the area and home.
1 Jamaica Terrace is tucked away in the heart of Mousehole, just a short walk from everything this charming village has to offer.
A local shipwright, Henry Wright, who traded in Jamaica, built the cottage in 1835, hence the name of this small terrace of cottages. A characterful granite cottage with wonderful sea views from the living room and bedroom, towards St Christopher's Isle and Mounts Bay beyond.
In a very quiet area of the village in an area best accessed on foot, you'll find all the amenities in short walking distance from pubs, cafes, restaurants, galleries and a small local shop. The harbour beach is a 1 minute walk.
As you enter Jamaica Terrace you'll instantly note historic features, like the range in the kitchen, kitchen tiles and the narrow/steep staircase.
The kitchen and lounge area are on the ground floor. The kitchen is equipped with a modern electric oven and hob, washing machine, crockery, utensils and a small dining table for two.
The cosy lounge has comfortable seating, a wood burner for cosy evenings, table and chairs, TV and a large window with lovely views.
Head upstairs and you'll find the bedroom and bathroom. The bedroom features a king size bed, chest of drawers, hanger, dressing table and a fabulous window seat to while away some time with a book. And did we mention the views? This is the best spot in the house in our opinion.
The spacious bathroom is a favourite feature of ours. The roll top bath (with overhead shower), stunning paint choices, original wood panelling and choices of fixtures make this a stunning space for a soak and relax.
Please note the following:
The stairs are steep and narrow.
The property has a sprinkler system in the kitchen to provide additional safety in the event of a fire.
Parking is not provided, we recommend either the Harbour or Mousehole Car Park on the edge of the village. (The train to Penzance and then a bus or taxi to the village is a great way to arrive).
Unloading isn't possible outside, we'd recommend walking from the car parks with luggage (5 minute walk).
Mousehole is a lovely neighbourhood with a strong local community. With a history as a fishing village the harbour is the focal point of the village.
We're a local team at Ocean Holidays Cornwall, we manage the property on behalf of the owners.
Based in Penwith we have excellent local knowledge and can recommend several stunning places to visit including beaches, restaurants, things to do and great walks.
Our approach is generally hands off, we use a keysafe system for easy check-in/out but we may just knock on to say hello. The owners do live in the village itself.
We're here to assist by phone or the Airbnb messaging service.
Mousehole is a traditional village which attracts visitors all year around. It's traditional granite cottages, picturesque harbour and renowned arts scene make it a great place all year round. In the village itself you'll find a pub (The Ship Inn), cafes, a couple of restaurants including the renowned The Old Coastguard, galleries and a small selection of shops.
There are some excellent walks nearby, the South West Coast Path to the West has some stunning rugged scenery, towards Newlyn is a nice easy walk to this fishing port with a good local indy cinema, excellent fishmongers and some great restaurants to.
Mousehole has some very narrow roads and a one way system which makes driving around the village itself quite tricky. If you can travel by public transport to Cornwall with ease you might find that a good way to get to Mousehole, particularly in the busier times. Penzance is on the mainline and is a 15 minute taxi away, there is also a bus service. Once here you will find lots in the immediate area and local buses can take you to some of the most stunning places in this corner of the UK. There are also bike hires in Penzance which can be really handy.
If arriving by car we'd suggest using one of the two main car parks, you'll find you can access several other parts of West Cornwall with relative ease so exploring can be much easier with a car.

- "We had a lovely week in Cornwall despite the terrible weather! This cottage is located in a fabulous place in Mousehole. A very very short walk (2/3 minutes) to the harbour, pub, restaurant, small shops etc. The cottage is a little dated but really clean and well equipped. The drive is a little tight for a big car, which we have but still adequate and a luxury in Mousehole! A fuse blew when we were there and we couldn’t locate the fuse board, phoned the owner, we were helped immediately over the phone and an offer to come out the following day to change the bulb offered. We would definitely recommend. "

- "We enjoyed staying in this stunning cottage which was set in the heart of Mousehole. Set over 3 floors, there was plenty of room for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers). The weather wasn't perfect so we spent a few evenings around the kitchen table playing games (lots provided!) Or comfortably settled in on the sofa. The bedrooms are a good size and the bathroom was new looking with a great shower and bath. All mod cons in the kitchen. Only downside was no washing machine. Mousehole itself is a perfect location and is a lovely little community. So close to many great beaches for surfing and fab beach walks. Would highly recommend Mermaid Cottage as a place to stay and we hope to visit again!"

Located on the first floor and running from front to back is a generous living space, making the most of the light that floods through the windows from morning to twilight. At the back of the property is what we call the reading room. It has glimpses of the sea from the windows and captures all of the morning light. It is equipped with a chaise, bespoke chair and a small desk. The decor is designed to subtly nod to the history of the cottage.
At the front is a cosy sitting room complete with thick stone walls, log burner and a luxurious velvet sofa. The decor is a little warmer to reflect the stone and is perfect for a cosy night in front of the fire and the SmartTV.
Due to the higgledy-piggledy nature of the ancient cottages in Mousehole, there is part of another cottage above part of Starhaze. You might from time to time hear some footsteps from above.
Eating
You enter the cottage into a lovely beamed kitchen. Contemporary units blend with a gorgeous stone floor; cool under foot in the summer but with underfloor heating for when the weather turns a little colder. The butler sink blends well with the clean decor and modern appliances which add a touch of luxury to this modern well appointed hideaway.
Sleeping
You’ll have no trouble falling asleep in this tranquil bedroom. A king size bed with fresh white linens and simple decor provide a perfect place to snuggle down at the end of the day. The under floor heating and SmartTV are added luxury.
Bathing
The en-suite bathroom (with additional door to the kitchen) has everything you would expect of this lovely property, including under floor heating and soft fluffy towels.
Outside space
Starhaze is typical of Mousehole cottages as there is no outside space. But who needs it when you are only steps from the harbour. Alfresco dining? No problem, just take a picnic or a BBQ down to the beach!
Parking
Like most of the properties in Mousehole, Starhaze doesn’t have parking. However, you can bring your car to the cottage for a bag drop before parking on the harbour.
Dogs
Well behaved dogs (and owners!) are welcome. There is an additional cleaning fee of £50 per dog per stay (or week if you are staying longer).
Guest access
You will have full access of the cottage.
Other things to note
Hot Water
The hot water for Starhaze is on an overnight timer and most days this will provide all the hot water you need. However, if you need more then you will find a ‘boost’ button in the tall cupboard upstairs (next to the boiler); press that and you will have hot water in 20 mins

Other things to note

The price includes the first £20 worth of electricity used but we do ask our guests to pay for any electricity used in addition to this. Our reason for doing this is that some guests have arrived in electric cars, which they charge each night. We decided that rather than increase our nightly rate to cover these costs we would just allow for the first £20 worth of electricity used. We felt this made it fair for everyone and allows us to charge a lower nightly rate.
