- "Such a peaceful spot. We had breakfast outside each morning while listening to the birds and then spotted constellations in the properly dark night sky. The cottage was well equipped with lots of quirky details, just as the name suggests and the location was perfect for us - handy for visiting family. The welcome was really warm, too. It would be lovely to return one day. " - "Where to start? This property was amazing from start to finish! From the welcome we received from Sam and Martin to the basket of lovely Cornish goodies to the beautiful cottage and stunning location and grounds. Sam and Martin have obviously worked hard in creating such a lovely holiday let - it is full of amazing craftmanship and lots of lovely little touches. Reading through the visitor book and you can see that everyone feels the same"

UPDATED Spring 2024
We bought our cottage a few years ago and started with a total house renovation, creating 3 bedrooms and 3 ensuite bathrooms. Now (April 2024) we have just completed another round of improvements – refurbishing rooms, updating where we needed to and including a big freestanding Samsung fridge freezer for all the food and drink needs for families looking to relax and enjoy the excellent produce from the area (and as requested from a 2023 review).
Little Nampara is at heart an old, historic cottage with thick granite walls and a big, enclosed garden originally used by the Nurserymen who tended the gardens at the Great Bassett estate, now Tehidy Country Park - which surrounds the cottage. In its day, the estate was owned by one of the richest families in the world and the area still has a feel of grandeur and of carefully sculptured beautiful countryside.
Having grown up in Cornwall and nearby, we bought our cottage knowing what a hidden gem the Tehidy area is, combining breath-taking views, Cornwall’s first country park AND - the stunning Atlantic Ocean coastline a mile away at Bassett Cove. The nearby beaches of Portreath and Godrevy offer world class surf and stunning beaches for everyone.
In fact the cottage is surrounded by many other exceptional beaches/surf spots including Porthtowan, Chapel Porth, St Agnes and Perranporth.
Cornwall’s best towns of Falmouth, St Agnes, St Ives and Penzance are also a short drive away, famed for Art, restaurants, bars, galleries, museums, boat trips, outdoor theatres and many things to keep everyone interested and entertained.
Locally there are also many miles of trails, footpaths, cycle paths and lanes – within the local woods, the SW coastal path and beyond – all beginning at our Cottage gates. Tehidy Country Park - Cornwall’s first and best country park is a haven for wildlife and birds in particular - with a large lake (see photo), excellent coffee shop and many miles of cycle trails and paths - within 5 minutes’ walk from the cottage.
Little Nampara is also a quiet and tranquil retreat, with a large, enclosed cottage garden, 2 lawns (1 given to wildflowers) a deck and patio which is ideal for both couples and families of all ages.
This is our home from home and we have done our best to create a comfortable fun place, although we really bought it because of its special location.
The cottage has an updated central heating system, along with high-end wood burner, 3 modern bathrooms (2 showers, 1 bath), hand painted hand-made wood shaker style kitchen, integrated dishwasher, integrated wine and drinks cooler, large brand new Samsung fridge freezer, washing machine, boutique-style decorations and furniture (sofas, armchairs and dining suite for 6), large outside deck with teak table and chairs, BBQ, painted floor boards with quarry tiles throughout.
Little Nampara cottage is surrounded by a large garden and has plenty of parking - 2 cars next to the garden and several cars on the gravel drive.
Thank you for looking and reading this far!
2024 NEW ADDITIONS:
• Large SAMSUNG Fridge Freezer
• New Dyson V10
• Kitchen fan/extraction hood
• 3 new bathroom fans
• Antique desk/table and chair
• BBQ
• Sun loungers

Puffin Cottage Portreath is a luxury 3 bed holiday home in the lovely village of Portreath on the north coast of Cornwall, half way between St Ives and Newquay.
The cottage has a large modern kitchen/diner which catches the morning sun, making it a wonderful space to have a relaxing breakfast, that is if you are not outside in the courtyard garden, tucking into a delicious breakfast of fresh pastries, or maybe a traditional saffron bun from the local Portreath Bakery, only a couple of minutes walk away. At the end of an active day the contemporary lounge, which catches the evening sun, is the perfect place to relax, chat with family or friends or watch a spot of tv, and, in the winter it takes on a very cosy feel with the multi fuel burner giving additional warmth and a focal point to the room. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, one of which can be set up as a twin, and a third which has a bunk bed, perfect for the children. The bedrooms are themed 'Woodland Retreat', 'Silver Sea' and 'Beach Days' and have been decorated to be relaxing spaces to aid a good night's sleep. There is also a modern, relaxing bathroom which has a bath with shower above.
Puffin Cottage also has a large porch, a garage for storing bikes, surf boards etc and off road parking to the rear. There is a paved front garden and an enclosed courtyard garden to the rear which has some relaxing chairs and also a six seater dining set, perfect for those warm summer evenings of al fresco dining.
Being situated in Portreath, Puffin Cottage benefits from being in a fantastic location, only 2 minutes walk from Portreath's wonderful sandy beach, which is manned by lifeguards all summer. Within a minutes walk is 'Baby Beach' which is perfect for young children. The beach has numerous rock pools and one, 'Rocky Pool'which is large enough to swim in if you don't fancy the open water! In summer look out for seals and dolphins which can often be seen!
There are also some beautiful walks from the village, taking in the magnificent coastal views of the north cliffs, as well as wooded areas full of bird life.
If you like getting out on a bike, then the coast to coast off road cycle trail may be for you which starts in Portreath and treks cross country to a nice pub stop by the estuary!
Portreath has a couple of pubs which serve good food, Portreath Bakery, a village store, a hairdressers, a chinese takeaway, a fish & chip takeaway and several cafes, as well as bike and surf board hire.
Portreath is only a 10 min drive from the A30, the main dual carriageway through Cornwall, and this makes it easy to tour the various attractions across the county, but to stay in a lovely 'base' village on the coast.
So, whether you are a couple looking for a romantic break, or a family looking for something for everyone, come and stay at the lovely Puffin Cottage for your perfect home away holiday.

Situated at the foot of Carn Brea Moor with stunning views and moorland walks right on it's doorstep this traditional miner's cottage is the perfect home from home and great starting point for exploring Cornwall's North and South coasts. The rugged North Coast is less than 5 miles away and the beautiful coastal towns of Falmouth and St Ives are less than 30 mins by car.
The cottage is the ideal location for you if you'd like to explore lots of Cornwall in a short space of time as we're just 5 minutes from the A30 and centrally located ensuring nowhere is very far away!
It's a really light, bright and welcoming space with lots of lovely features including a granite fireplace with woodburner, wooden beams, stable doors and wooden floors. We live here when our work doesn't take us elsewhere so it feels very much like a home. We love it here and hope you will do too!
Living room:
A sunny and bright space accessed directly from the front door with a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in front of the fire. There is a double sofa and two armchairs to relax in.
Bedrooms:
There are two double bedrooms upstairs with wood floors - one at the back of the house overlooking the moor and a larger room at the front overlooking fields. The rooms are bright and tastefully decorated and furnished.
Kitchen:
The kitchen is well equipped with an induction hob, toaster, kettle, blender, electric oven, large fridge freezer and dining table with seating for up to 6. The cupboards contain all the equipment and tableware you need to dine in. We'll also provide the essentials such as salt, teabags, coffee, olive oil, sugar and all the other bits you don't particularly want to have to buy on arrival!
Bathroom:
Located at the top of the stairs is a bright bathroom with wood floors overlooking the moor with a bathtub with mixer tap and shower attachment.
Outside space:
There is a front south facing garden with lawn leading to the cottage and a back garden accessed from the kitchen which is on three levels with a paved & gravel area immediately outside the back door, a mezzanine gravel space and a lawn on the upper level. There is a Weber BBQ and table and chairs for outdoor dining.
There is also an outbuilding with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
There is off-road parking for two vehicles right outside the cottage.
Dogs:
Well behaved dogs are always welcome on the ground level of the cottage. Usually up to two dogs - please notify us beforehand.
Around and about:
We're just minutes from the A30 and very centrally located so nowhere is very far away. In under an hour you can be on the Lizard exploring Frenchman's Creek in a kayak, on a surf board at Watergate Bay or discovering the caves at Kynance Cove. We've put together our own personal guide for visitors based on fourteen years of exploration and detailing some of our favourite restaurants, beaches and hidden gems not to be missed!
If you don't fancy getting in the car you can pull on your walking boots and head out on the moor. There are paths to the top of Carn Brea where you can stand on giant granite rocks and see for miles or follow the Great Flat Lode trail - one of Cornwall's Mineral Tramway Trails which takes you on a 12km tour (on foot or by bike) of the disused mines of the county. You will pass South Wheal Frances and South Crofty mines as you head through some beautiful Cornish countryside.
Please be aware the cottage does have quite a narrow and steep staircase (with handrail) so may not be suitable for more elderly or less mobile guests.
- "Claire was amazingly helpful, it's a lovely space. The poor wifi signal was the only issue, but maybe a blessing if you are on holiday, sadly we were working!" - "We selected this cottage because it is rather close to different parts of Cornwall. Due to the reconstruction of the major road to Cornwall it took a long time to get there, but once we knew we simply took smaller roads. We had some trouble finding it, but a quick phonecall to the owner helped us properly on our way.The cottage is well equipped and furnished. It has a small outdoors where you can sit. It sits along a fairly busy road and we did not like the traffic noice, but is close to many things and a few major supermarkets are at only about 1.5 miles from the cottage. It was spacious enough for the two of us, but it may feel a bit cramped when staying there with four adults."

Beachside is probably the closest house to the beach on the north Cornish coast! Nestled into a romantic cove in Portreath with the accommodation being both flexible and generous, and is presented to a luxuriously high standard.
Sleep in luxurious beds with only the sound of the ocean to soothe you all into blissful rest.
Situated in an ideal spot to explore everything beautiful Cornwall has to offer, with the main A30 road less than three miles away, enabling easy access within a 45 minute drive at most.
The South West Coast path runs straight through our private car park, with access to truly incredible seafront walks in either direction.
- "This is a very well designed luxury house with all possible comforts, amenities and extras provided. I cannot think of a better location for watersports requiring waves, beach walks, swimming and simply sitting and watching the waves. The outdoor hot shower was a real luxury after spending time in the water. For dog owners (during hours in the summer when dogs are not allowed on the beach) and walkers in general the coastal path can be picked up right by the top door - we attempted walks to St Ives (going west) and to St Agnes (going east) - this is a protected AONB which is well deserved both for the vegetation and the views. The owner was very accommodating to our requests, provided a lovely welcome pack with local produce and the caretaker fixed any (very minor) issues very quickly. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a mid-stay clean provided which was very much appreciated. We would definitely like to return here in years to come!"

- "Very nice location.very comfortable appartment. Wonderful county sites Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo" - "Great location, everything we needed. Space, quiet and plenty of bathrooms! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo" - "The location and building is fantastic. Steeped in history, beautiful surroundings and so close to the coastline. The accommodation itself would be more comfortable if it was cleaned more thoroughly. Also practical information would be beneficial such as what to do with the rubbish bags, is there anywhere to recycle? and instructions for all electrical items. Also the main huge downstairs windows have net curtains but no actual curtains allowing anyone to see in from outside in the evening. We all thoroughly enjoyed our time there and with a few minor changes it would be absolutely perfect."

- "Great location. Lovely cottage, very spacious & had everything you needed. Would book again. All was excellent." - "The property was in immaculate condition, both well-appointed and clean. There was everything you needed to get on with your holiday, right down to all the main kitchen utensils. The bathroom was clean and had a good shower and bath, not that the bath was used. The two bedrooms were spacious, especially the double which was really big. The outdoor area is excellent, and the location is pretty central for day trips to all the main sights. We went as far as Polperro and in the opposite direction Lands End, with each of those trips about an hour each way. We enjoyed being in a peaceful area with supermarkets 5-10 mins in the car, and cooking at home on an evening in a quiet location. There was nothing wrong to mention."

It’s even better that it’s more like a home than house, they really think of everything you could need & more. The welcome hamper was the cherry on top! - "This was a great stay in a nice cottage set in an excellent location. Portreath has a lovely beach, a nice bakery and cracking pub which serves excellent food. The bed was very comfortable, as was the cottage generally, and was also very clean. Only two minor downsides - there was no hot water in the cottage until we found the boiler and a switch marked (turn on if more hot water required) but this wasn’t in the cottage guide book and we were on the verge of calling for assistance as we found the switch, but it was perfectly fine once it was switched on. Secondly the parking isn’t ideal, it’s on a first come first served basis and there are a lot of cars on the street. However there is always somewhere to park within a minute or two’s walk so never a disaster, but you need to drop lucky to get a space outside the cottage. Turning the front garden into a driveway would be a great move as it would take away this problem and be extremely handy. Overall though we were very happy with our stay and would be more than happy to stay again. We have already recommended it to family and friends and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a week in Cornwall. Thank you!"

- "It was the location that attracted us to Seagull Cottage, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We are a family of 4, and our 4 and 6 yr old absolutely loved the fact that they could just go out of the front door and play safely on the sand on the small harbour beach. Looking forward to the tide coming in so that they could paddle and play on their bodyboards in the calm and clear water in the harbour beach was perfect. The main beach just a few steps over the wall was spectacular, clean and not crowded. The house itself was comfortable (lovely mattresses and bedding), and completely fully functional for our needs. The porch provided an excellent de-sanding area and storage for beach paraphernalia. The garage was very tight for our car- s max) and we couldn't shut the garage door, but this seemed to be the norm with the other cars down the street and wasn't a problem. There was a lack of recycling facilities at the house which was frustrating as it meant we had to put all our waste into the general collection bin, which is not ideal. Portreath has a lovely bakers, general store, pubs and restaurants and great fish and chips. Ice creams on the beach too. So we were very well catered for. We also did loads of exploring to other nearby beaches and generally had a lovely week staying here."

Note: This property does not have a sitting room with sofas for guests, it does have a dining area with a table and bench seating and TVs in all bedrooms.
Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: Camborne is a small town in Cornwall, England, which has a variety of attractions to offer. The National Trust - East Pool Mine is one of the most popular attractions in town and offers a fascinating insight into the mining history of Cornwall. Heartlands Free Exhibition is another popular attraction in Camborne, which offers an interactive, hands-on experience of the natural environment. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from, including the Cooperage, which offers gourmet dining.
- "Perfect location for us-close to the A30 to get to sights, in town near restaurants and shops! Clean and comfortable accommodation with everything you need for a great stay." - "The property is well located and well equipped. The stay reflects the price you have paid i.e. the shower was a little small and tight but it was okay for us. The room in the living room can be really hot as per other reviews have mentioned. Hence, it would be best if you turn off the heating in the dining room and open the window above the dining table to let some air into that room. Perhaps the property owner could add a standing fan given it was a converted room without window that's giving to outside air. The property's rooms were all with codes with which was cool. There is EV charger for EV cars and there is a parking space. Cornwall's attraction places were about 40 minutes drive away which we find it quite good if you have a car. Overall we are happy with the stay but just unhappy with VRBO as Sky Cottages (who is the property manager) will send you a separate payment request for their booking fee although you have already paid full fees on VRBO. We would suggest to book this directly with Sky Cottages as it is cheaper and no double charges. "

- "The cottage was fantastic, the location great only the Cornish roads could do with some bush clearing for large cars. The local pubs food was not what we expected, i have traveled the world and had better in Nigeria. out of 6 pub /restaurants only one got a rating above 5 out of 10.But thats not your problem. The cottage gets a full 10 out of 10. excellent " - "Lovely property; probably suiting a couple or couple with a child but would be ok for 3 adults provided the third adult wasn’t too tall as the single bed has a solid head a foot so no overhang room. Excellent en suite showers; clean, in good order and plenty of hot water. Kitchen was well equipped. The only category in the review I didn’t give 5 stars was accuracy if listing because the garden IS enclosed by a fence - the listing makes this sound like there is no fence at all, the stairs are quite steep although there is a stair gate at the top. Various lovely beaches are within 20 minutes. I would book this again."

A beautiful captains cottage, built of granite stone in 1820, it has a Cabin feel, a self contained flat, free street parking, private entrance, kitchenette, wood stove fire (free wood provided), beautiful original flagstone flooring, exposed ceiling beams and a stunning walk in shower. As soon as you walk in time seems to stop, it will be difficult to leave. There is a magic here, perhaps it's the colors emanating from the natural walls & floor. A coastal retreat ideal for remote work.
The entrance to the apartment is from the front of the house, it is a private door only you have access to via a code entry lock system.
It is a cosy space, most suited for a couple and two children under 14, as it is not a large area, approximately 17.5 square meters, however I have on several occasions had 5 adults happily sleep in here, but I would NOT recommend that.
Sleeping Arrangement.
1 x DOUBLE BED
1 X SOFA BED (Ideal for 2 children or 1 adult)
1 x SINGLE FLOOR MATTRESS
The studio room's sleeping arrangement has a comfy double bed, a sofa bed and a floor mattress. The sofa bed is best suited for two children or one adult.
The kitchenette area has hot and cold filtered water, a sink, a desktop oven with a two ringed hob, and a fridge freezer. All cooking and cleaning facilities are provided.
There is a Jack and Jill door in the hallway leading to the bathroom locked from both sides which on request allow for an optional 1 extra bedrooms. Currently not available.
The bathroom is separate and for your private use only.
THE GENERAL AREA OF CAMBORNE
Camborne is situated in a central location and giving us the advantage of easy access to many great locations, for example, St Ives, Penzance, Truro, and St Michael's Mount are approx 25 min away, the stunning beaches of Portreath and Gwithian Bay are 12-17 min by car. The Eden Project, amazing Porthcurno Beach, Minack Theatre and Lands End are around 45 min away. The beautiful Tehidy Woods is only a 10 min drive away.
Guest access
The general area around the house has free parking.
Other things to note
The apartment is thoroughly cleaned between guest, it is worth noting due to the age of the property and the natural materials, marks and elements may appear, also the occasional spider or bug manages to find its way in, it's only fair to mention it: a bug spray or spider catcher will be provided!

Pepperpot is a short walk to the harbour, which leads down to the Mole (the harbour wall) and out to the beautiful beach, flanked by dramatic cliffs, with rock pools, golden sand and some shingle. Pepperpot is a lovely little, dog friendly cottage, with a wood burning stove to warm up those cold evenings, a fully equipped galley kitchen, and a private parking spot outside the front door. It is perfect for a romantic getaway or as a base to explore the dramatic coast, feast on the rich mining heritage, or bask out on the glorious beaches.
Portreath has a rich heritage and the narrow harbour was originally used for exporting Copper from the mines around Chacewater and importing coal from South Wales. The harbour entrance was quite hazardous and tremendous skill must have been required to navigate sailing ships into the port, some of the ships carried well over a hundred tons of ore. The pretty, sandy beach has a stream running down to the sea on the left hand side. It is a popular family beach which, like many beaches on the north Cornish coast, is popular with surfers and in particular bodyboarders who turn up in force at high tide on big swells to surf the harbour wall, or Vortex as it is known.. During the season, the beach is cleaned daily, it is patrolled by RNLI lifeguards, and dogs are not allowed on the beach in July and August between 10am and 6pm. There are several shops, and cafés in Portreath. The village has a very friendly atmosphere and caters for most needs of tourists, whilst not being over-commercialised.
