The location was ideal as well, it was close to just about everything. First of all, the hosts have created a B&B out of the ground floor of their townhouse. The unit can be rented as either a one or two bedroom unit, depending on each guest's needs. The unit is comfortable, clean and modern, and has it's own entrance. Parking is a non-issue since you are the only guest. It's located across from the hot springs and visitors center. We walked into downtown Ouray during the day (took about 10-15 minutes), but felt more comfortable driving at night. The breakfast (which was fabulous) is served in the host's dining room, one floor up from the guest area. Connie and Greg (the hosts) are friendly and welcoming. Greg is a retired teacher, mathematician, climbing and canyoneering instructor, general outdoor enthusiast, former US Marine, and Viet Nam veteran. Connie is a transplant from Hong Kong. The story of how they met, and later reconnected, is straight out of Hollywood. Greg and Connie are an absolute wealth of information about the area. They can advise you on everything from the best hikes (in Ouray, Telluride, Ridway, Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP), the best restaurants, the best sightseeing, and the best shopping. When we checked out on the last day we felt as though we were saying goodbye to two old friends."

This gorgeous penthouse suite 1000 sq ft + is located on the top third floor of the Ouray Alchemist building in the heart of town. Bi-directional pleated shades offer the excellent combination of breathtaking 360 degree surrounding mountain views with just the right amount of privacy desired. There is a 400 sq ft deck that gives you private views of the Chief Ouray Mine, Cascade Falls, the Amphitheater and Twin Peaks. The Ouray Alchemist is a long-time project for Curtis and Nancy. Curt has been collecting pharmacy artifacts for many years. The commercial space features a historical collection of pharmacy memorabilia dating back to 350 BC. The collection is a tribute to the history of pharmacy, containing many hand-blown label-under-glass bottles with the original drugs (herbs and roots) with an emphasis toward Colorado pharmacy history (such as the oldest written prescription in Colorado). It is a memorable tribute to pharmacy worth seeing during your stay. Pharmacists Curt and Nancy will do the best to make your visit well worth it. The Ouray Alchemist, what we call our retail area and museum, has been featured on the cover of Bottles and Extras. We also have an article written about us in GV Magazine. This stands for Grand Valley and is mainly distributed around the Grand Junction area. Grand Junction is just a two hour drive from Ouray.

The Ouray Alchemist building is unique to the Ouray area. It was newly built/completed in 2011. Enjoy the whimsical finial portraying the sun, moon and stars. The gargoyles positioned on the four corners of the copper-domed tower by tradition offer "protection and happiness" to those who enjoy this incredible suite. Maximum of two adults. No children. It's situated at the intersection of the Perimeter Trail and the North Ouray Corridor Trail. You can easily walk anywhere in town. It has 3 levels with mudroom, laundry and entertainment area with large screen TV on the entry/garage level. There’s a guest cabinet with pool towels, outdoor play equipment and ping pong equipment. There’s a card table with 4 folding chairs and an electric grill. Two sleds(and shovels!) are provided in the winter.
