But the ice-cream shop is only open on the weekends in October, and even then, the recorded music on the following day they were open ended at a reasonable hour as well. The cottage was clean and very comfortable--nicely heated, with a comfortable bed (unless you like hard beds--we don't), no shortage of hot water, and really quiet. We brought our own dishes, plates, a knife and dish soap, which were all helpful. The refrigerator has a separate freezer and there was a toaster, coffee maker and microwave, which meant we could have our own breakfasts and lunches if we wanted. A table and two chairs were also included and black-out curtains made sleeping past sunrise possible. We were very satisfied with our stay and felt we got what we paid for. The only suggestion we would have would be for them to open breakfast at 8 am instead of 9 am. That seems a bit too late for anyone wanting to get going earlier."

So much that were gonna book it again soon! We were sad to leave. We wished we could of stayed longer but we were only down there one day for the Monterey Bay aquarium! The inn was so us!! We loved the room it was very clean and the arched ceiling was just what we love in a room. The fireplace was a great treat too! There is nothing negative we can say about The Butterfly inn except we wished we could of stayed longer!! Great Place would recommended to all who come acoss our path!"

The upstairs unit is home to a full-time resident and this lower unit hosts shorter term vacationers. About 6 steps up from the street; a gradual ramp goes from the parking area to the back door. All one level once inside.

This 1,150 sf unit enters into a shared common area living room space furnished with a TV, table, chairs, bench and games - a perfect place for gathering for chats, games and meals, or even working from your laptop on the 1000 mb WiFi ultra fast internet.
An ocean view lounging area with an L-shaped sofa is located in Bedroom #1 near its TV.

Excellent location. 2 minute walk downtown Pacific Grove, 4 minute walk Lovers Point and 2 minute walk child-friendly Caledonia Park. Relatively close to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. Downstairs unit of an 1887 Victorian *duplex*.

Living room features a gas fireplace and comfy leather reading chairs. The unit has two bedrooms and comfortably sleeps four. There is also a sofabed in the living room that can sleep 1-2 people. Our City permit allows a maximum of five guests total.

Master bedroom features a California king bed, master bathroom and closet. Junior bedroom has a queen-size bed, bathroom, and small closet. Junior bedroom is very small in size. As mentioned, there is a sofabed in the living room.

The master bathroom has a walk in shower whereas the junior bathroom has a tub/shower.

Kitchen has a new floor and is the only room in the house not recently remodeled (stove and fridge are new, however). Kitchen has basic cookware and coffee is provided for the coffee maker. There is also a blender and toaster.

We remodeled the unit in 2021 and added soundproofing between the floors but it is an 1887 Victorian so it is not noiseless.

Like all other houses in Pacific Grove, the unit does not have air conditioning. Our warmest month is September with a mean high of 73.6F. We do have a high-quality large fan in one of the closets if there is an unseasonably hot day.

We use an electronic door lock so no check-in required.

Other Amenities: Cable television, wireless internet or wifi, private backyard, shared laundry located in side yard between kitchen and garage.

We subscribe to a large selection of cable television channels but do not have direct access to Netflix or Amazon Prime because the second remote caused confusion for some renters. Guests can connect their laptop to the television with an HDMI cable and stream any content from our wifi. We have spare HDMI cables in the cabinet; as backup, a hardware store is a few blocks away and also sells cables.
