- "We loved the Hotel Tresanton. It was expensive but well worth it. We had room 26 which is very high so you should check the room number if you have any mobility issues. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was the highlight of our 24 day stay. Our server, Izzy in the bar was amazing. " - "An amazing time spend at The Tresanton. We’ll be back again soon no doubt!" - "Loved the property - a couple of extra overs - the room was very warm when we arrived - I am sure we could have borrowed a fan but installing air con may be an option. Also for a hotel of this standing I would have expected a far better hair dryer than the one available. Lastly not that its was in any way the fault of the hotel but the weather on one day was terrible - the ferries were cancelled - I wonder therefore if it would have been a good PR exercise to perhaps put a cakes in the lounge for guests to have with coffee?"

- "Beautiful views from our room, the terrace, bar and restaurant. Food lovely. Highly recommended. " - "Ideal Rocks. This place is a proper hidden gem. On the waterfront and with fantastic dining options it was the perfect place to spend a pre Christmas getaway and mooch around the classy little town of St Mawes, which always seems to be bustling without being overcrowded even at peak times of the year. The hotel makes the already superb location even better. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there is even an EV charger (albeit a fairly slow one). Rooms are cosy and individual with great facilities. We also took the ferry over to Falmouth (which runs almost every day) to have a wander around there. Essentially you can leave your car in the hotel carpark and explore the area on foot or using a bit of public transport/ferries. Cracking little place. "

- "Unbeatable location, outstanding staff for service, attentiveness and friendliness. Food to die for from very talented chef. We booked to celebrate and revisit our honeymoon hotel of 50 years ago. Truly transformed, idilic and excellent value. You will not be disappointed. " - "The staff provide an excellent friendly service and the food is outstandingly good. Our room was in the roof space which made it somewhat cramped and with poor headroom. Because of the age of the property accessibility is a problem for those with mobility problems. This secluded, extra-comfortable and carefully maintained self-catering chalet — a perfect refuge in summer and winter alike — is hidden away in a corner of one of Cornwall’s most unspoiled and beautiful areas, the Roseland Peninsula, bordered on one side by the famous sailing waters of the Carrick Roads, on the other by the English Channel. Set amongst lawns and trees at the very narrowest point of the peninsula, with views over woods and farmland, the chalet is 350 metres from the wonderful sandy Towan beach on one side, and 100 metres from the picture-book winding creek of Froe and its tidal estuary on the other. It offers perfect peace — but also proximity to a unique range of attractions, including the Eden Project with it's spectacular biodomes, the Falmouth Maritime Museum, the Tate at St. Ives and numerous famous gardens. There are some excellent country inns in the vicinity — and a superb 7-day shop in Portscatho, just over a mile away, selling pretty well everything you might need.
The Roseland Peninsula: The Roseland is one of Cornwall’s most special places, a motley of sea- and river-scapes, woods and fields, lanes and churches, pretty beaches. Besides offering infinite scope both for gentle lazing and for vigorous pursuits on land or sea, the Roseland also gives easy access to other areas of Cornwall.
The Chalet: The chalet has been well equipped to offer optimum comfort and convenience in all seasons, with its sunset dining verandah, south facing dining patio, triple-aspect living/dining room, fall-asleep sofa, ubiquitous radiators, well-equipped kitchen with garden views, two bathrooms (one en-suite), and a general air of calm seclusion. The chalet is only a ten minute walk down a track from the lovely Towan beach, without having to cross any roads.
Due to this property's remote location, it is approached by a track of about 350 metres. We have an ordinary family Car and have no problems, but if you do have a low slung vehicle with very little ground clearance then Towan Beach chalet is probably not for you. Car parking is provided at the top of this track.
Besides yourself and your belongings you need only bring kitchen/bathroom consumables, and your own bed linen and towels.
PLEASE NOTE: Guests need to bring their own their own sheets, duvet covers, pillow case covers and other laundry such as tea-towels.
In season there is a Weber charcoal barbecue unit which is situated beside the front patio.
Internet can only be obtained by “tethering” to your mobile phone. Apple use the term “personal hotspot” for this.
NB: Smoking is NOT PERMITTED within the chalet or on the balcony verandah.
Provisions etc.: For provisions, the village of Portscatho (1+ miles) offers an excellent papers-to-popadoms, wine-to-widgets 7-day store. The picturesque resort of St Mawes with its medieval castle and sailing/fishing fleet is 7 miles away, while the towns of Falmouth and Truro are both 14 miles via the ancient chainlink river-crossing, the King Harry Ferry. These latter towns both offer the normal panoply of banks, supermarkets, chain stores etc.
The nearest postcode for satnavs is TR2 5EX. Note: the chalet has no actual postcode. Clients will be sent full travel directions.
- "This property and its location well exceeded our expectations. The chalet had a lovely, calm and warming feel to it and is extremely comfortable and well equipped. Surrounded by nature and with views through the trees down to the creek it was blissfully quiet and peaceful.Just a 10 minute walk to a sandy beach and 2 miles from an excellent pub. Wonderful !!" - "Beautiful stay at this chalet, so cosy and clean, had everything you could need. Beautiful remote location, if you follow all the very detailed instructions from owners you will find it no problem. 10 min walk to a beautiful beach with breathtaking coastal walks, we were lucky ro spot some local seals! Loved every minute..fully recharged for the new year! "

Fisherman's Cottage is a charming property just a stone's throw from the sea in the oldest part of St Mawes village. The perfect place to relax and enjoy all the stunning Roseland Peninsula and picturesque St Mawes has to offer.
What's great about Fisherman's Cottage is that its a really cosy, homely environment, tucked away on a quiet street; yet its practically bang in the middle of the lively seaside village of St Mawes, with beaches, pubs and restaurants just a couple of minutes walk away.
The cottage, along with the others in the same street, was built in the 1700s to accommodate local fishermen. We renovated the cottage in 2013, creating a warm, comfortable modern interior, whilst retaining its original character and features.
The front stable door opens on to a large bright sitting room area with loads of sofa space and a lovely log fire. There is a TV, Blu-ray player and Amazon Fire box tucked discretely away in the corner cupboard - just in case you're unlucky with the weather, or just fancy a bit of lounging!
Music lovers are also well catered for with a new 120W Panasonic Hi-Fi with Bluetooth, DAB and CD.
To the rear of the sitting room is a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is new and well equipped. There is slimline dishwasher, fan oven, induction hobs, toaster, kettle, filter coffee machine and microwave.
Through the kitchen is a small utility area with the washer/dryer which opens to the sun deck at the rear of the cottage and a downstairs loo.
The sun deck is really the jewel of the cottage's crown. There's a great view of the harbour and sea beyond, a table for some al fresco dining and a BBQ for those lazy summer evenings.
Upstairs, the large double bedroom is a decent size, with plenty of storage space. There is also a more compact double room - the bed here is only accessible on one side - and a twin bunk room at the rear of the cottage.
The bathroom is bright and fresh and has a bath with a shower over.
WiFi is provided. We now have BT Infinity installed, so you can expect download speeds of 40Mb - more than enough for HD streaming and multiple users.
Cordless phone with caller display/answerphone for incoming calls.
The back of Fisherman's Cottage has a fantastic decked area, where you can relax with a glass of wine, watching (but not hearing) the hustle and bustle down on the harbour below, and boats further out to sea. The path out to the street at the rear of the cottage also presents excellent opportunities to sneak out to The Rising Sun pub or Idle Rocks Hotel, both just 50 meters from the back gate!
- "The cottage was wonderful - well equipped and comfortable. We loved being able to cook together and the sun deck was fabulous. Parking was a bit tricky but it did not spoil the holiday. Wonderful location and weather - brilliant holiday. Thank you Danny." - "Excellent stay. Position really good." - "very enjoyable stay , will certainly return." - "Splendid little cottage in a terrific spot. Danny is a very accommodating and helpful owner."

- "Superb location in Portscatho, lots of space inside and well stocked for beach days / rainy lazy days inside." - "A thoroughly enjoyable stay in a quiet village location." - "Lovely cottage with great facilities and in a great location. Couldn’t fault anything." - "Thoughtfully equipped for a family holiday, the cottage feels welcoming and comfortable whilst still being smart and spotlessly clean. We loved sitting out on the decking in the evenings and were a stone's throw away from the village shop, pub, bistro and Harbour club. A beautiful cottage in a great location -loved Portscatho, such a pretty village and very friendly- you must visit the Harbour club which is the social club in the village and for a small fee you can access. Watching the sun go down from their balcony is a must. A short walk to The Hidden Hut on Porthcurnick beach, again great atmosphere and food. Towan beach beautiful and our favourite- white sand and turquoise sea and a great tea van in the courtyard behind beach. Also kayaked and sailed from St Mawes, a short drive away. In all a great holiday in a beautiful part of Cornwall, we were very sad to leave and will definitely return as we ran out of time to do everything! Would definitely go back to Portscatho as a base, a really special village and a lovely cottage to stay in."

It was extremely comfortable and clean, and we were very grateful for a totally secure and enclosed garden area for our dogs. We walked to the beach almost every day through beautiful woodland and couldn’t believe how few other people we encountered. The beach was stunning, as were the other local beaches we explored. Rostowan sleeps up to 4 people and is situated in a very private location, close to St.Mawes on the South Coast of Cornwall, in the area where ITV filmed a large part of the Caroline Quinten 'Cornwall' series, especially The Hidden Hut...
Rostowan is located on the stunning Roseland Peninsula on Cornwall's south coast, which enjoys spectacular sea and rivers walks and views, woodlands and fields, winding lanes, ancient buildings and churches, much of it under the careful ownership of the National Trust.
At the very narrowest point of the peninsula, where Porth Creek and the sea almost cut it in half, Rostowan Villa nestles in a peaceful location with the creek just a stones throw away on one side, and the sea within ear shot on the other. Towan beach itself is just a short walk down the lane and even in the height of summer is usually very quiet.

Lovely touch with the welcome scones & cream We will be back." - "Rostowan is beautifully fitted out with all your normal creature comforts, nice sofas, chairs, beds and a very well fitted bathroom with an additional wc. We had a television, a DVD player and CD/Radio player. The kitchen was very smart and modern with excellent cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, a full size cooker/Hob, fridge, and microwave. There is also a separate freezer and washing machine. Outside is a totally enclosed and private garden. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the twin chairs at the top of the garden as they had a clever little table top between them that is just right for your drinks. - "The pictures on the website are accurate. This is a lovely apartment in a perfect location . Heating and hot water are important especially at this time of year, and they were excellent . Well equipped, very comfortable. The sun lounge area with sea views was lovely. The owners were really nice, and available if needed. We saw dolphins from the lounge, did lots of walking, used the ferry, ate out at the local pub, and generally had an excellent time. The narrow roads in St Mawes needed to be driven with caution, but this is a delightful cornish village. We would definitely recommend."

Would definitely stay again if coming back to St Mawes." - "Pennant is spacious, comfortable, well designed with lovely furnishings and spectacular views across the harbour. Unfortunately the lift was out of order which meant climbing up 48 steps with two landings - a struggle with luggage. However, this didn't spoil our stay in the magical harbour village of St Mawes. There are plentiful places to eat, lovely shops, a Co-op, post office and a large public car park, which was quite reasonable, plus the harbour carpark which was more expensive but very convenient. There is a regular ferry service to transport you across the water. FAL cottages, who manage the property, were very friendly and helpful. All in all a lovely place to stay."

The owner was very quick to respond when we had a query. I would recommend it for a short stay." - "My partner and I had the most amazing stay here. It has everything you could need and is in the most perfect location. It’s on the smaller side but exactly as described and perfect for short stays. We extended our stay! The owner was so kind in allowing us to check in slightly earlier than the stipulated time. A wonderful stay- well definitely be back. Thank you so much."

Crows Nest is a beautiful, modern apartment with fantastic views of unspoilt National Trust Cornish coastline, the Percuil River and across the sea to the Lizard peninsula in the distance. The full length French windows in the living room and master bedroom have amazing, panoramic sea views, so you can soak up the beautiful scenery from the comfort of the two sofas or even when having tea in bed. Being in the heart of St Mawes village, you will be close to the shops, pubs and restaurants. The picturesque harbour, where you can catch foot ferries to Falmouth and Place House, is only 100 metres away, as is the nearest beach. St Mawes is a bustling fishing village which is an ideal centre for exploring the beautiful gardens, beaches, castles and creeks of the Roseland Peninsula. The Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are easy day trips. However, many of our guests find that they while away the hours taking in the scenery without even leaving the apartment. Crows Nest is well equipped, with a modern kitchen which includes an electric oven, hob, dishwasher, washer dryer and espresso coffee machine.
- "This apartment is in a wonderfully central position in St Mawes. It has fantastic views out enormous glass doors over St Mawes estuary from the kitchen-dining-living room and from the main bedroom. It is also particularly well equipped - including with several different coffee-making options. We will be back!"

Corner Cottage is a delightful, traditional, dog friendly, cottage with lovely sea views from the master bedroom, and has the massive benefit of private parking spaces - a rarity in the heart of any Cornish village. The accommodation is remarkably spacious, with high ceilings and two large bedrooms. The cottage is nestled just above the Roman Catholic Church (no bells!) and is a mere 150m from the harbour. There is a sun trap of a little patio, perfect for a spot of Al Fresco dining or a glass of your favourite tipple.

Historic Castles from the era of Henry VIII, glistening blue waters, bustling beaches, Cornish Pubs, award-winning restaurants, amazing coastal walks, ferries to different locations, little motor boats, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards, all available for rental. (Fraggle Rock for everyone of a certain age!) The artists' haven of Portscatho is well worth a visit, as is Veryan. with its famous round houses.

Excellent location and the short steep walk made us fitter by the end of the week! Will definitely book again. Thank you." - "Fal Cottages staff was excellent. - "We had a wonderful stay in Upper Tresulian. The Kitchen had everything we needed, the Bedrooms were big enough, with a wonderful view from the Main Bedroom. The view from the Livingroom was just perfect. We loved to sitting there and watched the Ships passing by. There was a little bit of Noise, when Windows oder Doors are closed in the Apartment below. We had no Problems with the Steps up to the Apartment and it was a good Exercise to walk down to the Beach, Restaurants or Shops. The Street to the Apartment is very narrow, so it could be a little bit scary to drive there. The Owners are next door, very friendly and have two little dogs. We would certainly come back, if we plan to travel again to St.Mawes."

The Neighborhood:
Trevennel Lodge is located a half-mile walk away from St Just In Roseland, set in beautiful gardens at the head of a creek. In the village, you’ll find a picturesque church and lots of traditional Cornish architecture.
The Roseland Peninsula is a designated part of Cornwall’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so you can expect unique landscapes and unrivalled coastal scenery. Discover secluded coves, pretty creeks, rolling hills and tranquil beaches all on the doorstep. It’s a haven for walkers, wildlife lovers and watersports enthusiasts - with so much to offer.
Just a 5-minute drive or 30-minute walk, you will find the stunning village of St Mawes - known as one of Cornwall’s best gems. Perched at the very tip of the Roseland Peninsula, its unique position has brilliant ties with Falmouth, the Mylor Creek and Helford Passage. A regular ferry runs throughout the day, and if you’re lucky, you may even be joined by the resident dolphins!
In the village itself, you can explore the impressive St Mawes Castle, one of the best-preserved of Henry VIII’s coastal fortresses. Or taste fresh seafood caught that morning at Tresanton Hotel or The Idle Rocks - both with watery views. Further afield, pay a visit to St Anthony’s Head, Portscatho Beach (and the famous Hidden Hut restaurant), or any of the many lesser-known beaches that stud this spectacular coastline. Discover more local tips and tricks in our Guest Guide, which is available upon booking.

Due to the remote nature of Cornwall, we would recommend bringing a vehicle for your stay. There is free parking for 2 cars in the front of the property with additional parking available on the access lane.
Other Things to Note:
Our pond has lots of wonderful living wildlife. Please be careful and do not throw anything into our pond.

The location is quiet and secluded, and ideally situated barely more than a stone's throw from numerous local attractions. The kitchen is really well equipped, bookshelves well stocked, and beds very comfortable. Will (our host) was very responsive prior to and throughout our stay.
