We made use of the warm milk delivery to our room each night and every member of staff was warm and welcoming and I want to give a special shout-out to Diane who took care of us during breakfast. 2 Albert Place is a beautiful property situated in the heart of the pretty, traditional Cornish town of Fowey on the mouth of the River Fowey. In an enviable position right on the water’s edge, in the centre of Fowey yet in a very quiet position.
The house has stunning views across the estuary, to the countryside beyond and also to the pretty village of Polruan which is on the opposite side of the estuary and accessed via a sweet passenger ferry.
At low tide you can access the foreshore by the steps from the terrace. At high tide you can access the property via the same steps, from your own (or a hired) boat.
There is a frape at the property (a running mooring) so whether you bring your own boat or hire one during your stay, exploring the harbour and the River Fowey couldn't be easier. We can help you to arrange boat hire (up to 7 people) during your stay, if you wish. Note the running mooring dries at low tide, please check that your own boat is suitable, if you are not using the local hire boat we recommend.
The house, which has recently been tastefully refurbished to a contemporary standard is open plan to the ground floor, with huge bi-folding doors on to a small terrace at the water’s edge. With underfloor heating, wide screen 4K TV, Quooker boiling water tap, Sonos, Nespresso machine and free high speed WiFi (70Mbps), it is equipped to a high standard.
On the first floor, there are 3 bedrooms: a double with fine river/estuary views and en-suite shower room; a twin bedroom, also with fabulous views over the river and out to the estuary, a family bathroom and a third double bedroom with river views from its own small balcony. The bathrooms are newly fitted and tastefully decorated with excellent water pressure to the showers.
A natural deep harbour, Fowey is a haven for yachtsmen and whether you sail yourself or just want to enjoy watching others the house is in a perfect position. There are two sailing clubs in the town who welcome visitors. The Royal Regatta in August, featuring a dramatic display across the estuary by the Red Arrows, is one of Britain’s premier sailing events, it is also a fun-filled week for all the family, sailors and landlubbers alike.
Kayaks can be hired within 50m of the house and there are many boat and fishing trips available from the town quay, a very short stroll away.
Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey retains a unique, unspoilt charm, with its narrow winding streets, old fashioned pubs and a variety of shopping.
Across the River, the quaint village of Polruan with its regular passenger ferry running back and forth allows you to enjoy even more coastal paths along the stunning Cornish Coastline.
Readymoney Cove, situated by the mouth of the River Fowey is accessible by foot and ideal for families. At high season the beach has a swimming platform, and is also good for rock pooling at low tide.
There are miles of beautiful walks accessible right from the doorstep along with landmarks such as St Catherine’s castle and the Gribbin.

If you do wish to venture out of the town, we are close to some of Cornwall's most stunning gardens including The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Llanhydrock House, a National Trust property, is close by and has fun bike trails with mountain bikes for hire.
Fowey is also the inspiration to much of Daphne Du Maurier's writing and is home to the annual Du Maurier literary festival (8th – 16th May, 2020).

This spacious, split level house with its unconventional layout that guests love for its unique character. It has been tastefully furnished and decorated to a very high standard and quality and sleeps up to 6 people and has 2 bathrooms. The ground floor has 2 bedrooms one with twin beds and the other is a zip n' link bed or can be made into 2 single beds. These are served by a shared bathroom with full facilities and shower. You will find the kitchen and dining room on the middle level, both rooms and very light and spacious and over look the garden. There is a fully fitted kitchen/breakfast room which is very well equipped.
On the upper level there is the master King bedroom and an adjacent bathroom with bath and full facilities. The sitting room is also on this level with wonderful views over the Fowey River valley and surrounding open countryside. There is a large fenced garden and patio area with furniture and a gas bbq for your own use.

It was very homely and comfortable with family games and books and a play area. Feeding the animals was a massive highlight staying here. Our 12 year old loved every minute attending the animals. The freshly laid eggs were delicious. The ground floor is a spacious open plan design, including a fully equipped modern kitchen, a stunning dining table that comfortably seats 16 and a large lounge surrounding the wood burning stove. Also on the ground floor is a spacious TV room and Utility room at one end and Double Bedroom 8, with en-suite shower room at the other end. The bespoke open tread staircase rises to the first floor bedrooms. There are 6 double beds. with en-suite shower rooms and a further double bedroom with master bathroom opposite incorporating a free standing bath.

Outside there is a south facing landscaped area with a well equipped outdoor kitchen with wood fired Pizza Oven and Games Room as well as an outdoor shower and various seating and lounging areas. The indoor pool is heated all the year round and located adjacent to the barn with an outdoor Hot Tub. There is a wonderful grass area full of specimen trees and scenic valley views and ample car parking.

We think this is the first 'off grid' conversion property of this size. It is completely self-sustainable. We have our own spring water supply (Great Mineral Water straight from the tap) and we heat all our own hot water (including enough for the 16m long Indoor Heated Pool), produce all our electricity and have installed a state of the art wood burning stove (using all our own wood grown in the grounds), just in case Cornwall's renowned warmth and sunshine should let us down.

600 yards up the road the first entrance on your left is the private lane to Trenant next to Penhale Caravan & Camping Park.

The lane is about half a mile long, go right to the end of the lane, passing a farmhouse and cottage on your left, there is a sign saying ‘Trenant Cider Barn’ on the gate.

You can unload at the bottom of the driveway, there is ample parking just inside the main gate.

There was no phone reception at the property so if you require that then you may need a back up plan. The wifi worked most of the time so that was useful. Access is a bit precarious being down a single track road with lots of overgrown bushes etc but we just beeped out horns to alert others to our presence and all was fine. All in all, one of the most enjoyable family holidays that we have had in a long time. We would definitely recommend to others."

Perfect holiday.
Just come back from the most perfect holiday at Helen House. The house is perfect, everything you’d want in a holiday home. Three good size bedroom, two with wonderful views over the harbour. Good size kitchen with enough seating and room. Fantastic living room, also with balcony. The house also has three tvs to help entertain the kids whilst you soak in the view with a glass of wine. Fowey is a lovely harbour town with lovely little shops and good pubs and restaurants. We loved Polkerris beach and spent two days there. Food at Sams bar amazing and the sunsets from the beach as the best you’ll see.

Great place in an ideal location
The house is a great place to stay in Fowey, 3 minutes walk into the centre. The house itself is ideal for a week away, spacious with stunning views over Fowey. The owners were extremely helpful from start to finish.. We thoroughly enjoyed our week and would certainly book again. I would recommend the house and Fowey to anyone.

Amazing view of a beautiful town
All i can say is we thoughly enjoyed our stay at Helen House. There are lots of floors, which can be confusing to begin with, where you are in the house, especially as its an unusual layout, but you soon get used to it. The balcony views are breathtaking and we were blessed with lovely, warm sunny weather. It was lovely getting up early and reading on the balconies and watching all the river activities. The house was as clean as a pin and equipped with everything you could need. Fowey itself is lovely... Lots of cafes and pubs. The Hallwalk, boat trips and walk down to the beach are a must. The only thing missing was a welcome info pack with basic info in it.... Like nearest food shop, sugguestion of local things to do etc and a visitor review book. No matter where we looked we could not find these. Thanks Helen House for a lovely week... Anyone who books will not be disappointed!

Castle House Penthouse is 25 yards from the harbour's edge. This luxury penthouse has superb views from the living room and two of the bedrooms across to Fowey and Bodinnick. It is furnished to a very high standard. Polruan's village shops and inns and the ferry to Fowey are all within easy walking distance as are the coastal paths. Unloading is possible within 20 yards and private parking is available at £30 per week subject to availabilty or in the main car park. Please note lettings run from Friday to Friday

It was mesmerising watching all the boats sailing by. The flat is well equipped with all the mod cons and the beds very comfortable with lovely fresh white linen. The kitchen area is easy to use and a there is a handy book of instructions for all the appliances. There is a small patio area out the front. This is the best property we have stayed in and we would come again. There are two pubs in Polruan and we enjoyed dinner in The Lugger. It’s a short ferry ride over to Fowey. There are lovely walks around Polruan and Fowey. It is definitely a beautiful area to visit and my family and I highly recommend it."
