Although it is considered a condo, there are no upstairs or downstairs neighbors, only the back wall of the closet is shared. Hale KeKai is unit #23 at the Sea Mountain Resort. The lanai (patio) is very private. Speaking of the lanai, “Wow!” is the usual response. Sweeping unobstructed ocean views that blend gently without interruption into an incredible mountain view. This is Hawaii, your Hawaii.
A high quality king size bed in the master bedroom will combine with the soft breezes and gentle lull of the waves to bring calm wondrous dreams of the beauty of the real Hawaii. The living and dining areas also have sweeping ocean views and are outfitted tastefully yet comfortably as this is as much our home as yours. The living area also boasts a fold out sofa bed that we have slept on ourselves and is very comfortable.

This is a true one-bedroom unit, not a small studio unit that is (often) described as a one-bedroom unit.
This unit at Colony One, Sea Mountain, is a full one bedroom unit with a king-size bed in the bedroom on the lower level, and the living room, dining and kitchen on the upper level. There are great views of the sunrise from the lanai, from where you can also hear and watch the ocean. Punalu'u black sand beach is a 15-minute walk from the front door.

The living room contains a queen-size sleeper sofa that comfortably sleeps an additional two people. The room has a vaulted ceiling with a ceiling fan. It has a 37' flat-screen TV.

The fully-equipped and recently remodeled kitchen also contains a washer for your convenience. There is a drying rack which can be used within the condo, (NOT out on the lanai). The dryer is only for a very few small items. Coin operated facilities on site are for almost all loads.

This condo is part of a small cluster of about 70 units. The grounds are perfectly maintained, and include a pool/hot tub/grills. The condo overlooks SeaMountain Golf Course,** the SeaMountain golf course is closed until further notice**. About a 5-10 minute walk lies the Punaluu Black Sand Beach, which is a nesting ground for the Green Sea Turtle. Every day it is almost guaranteed to see one or more sunning themselves on the sand. The Volcanoes National Park is an easy 30 minute drive up the road.

This was a perfect midpoint, right next to Pu'unaluu Beach and a quick drive to Volcanoes National Park. Tom and Christen's condo is a bit more private within the development as the lanai is off the main pathway, still with a partial ocean view. Very comfortable bed and bath! Development has a decent pool and hot tub in the common area and is quiet. Keep in mind that closest gas is back up the road in Na'alehu, and no close grocery stores, so come with food options all planned out. We had a wind storm that knocked the power out overnight, owner's communication regarding that and the weather advisory was much appreciated. Would happily stay there again!"

Relax and reconnect in one of the most stunning and serene locations in all of Hawaii! Sea Mountain Resort is a truly magical place, surrounded by beauty in every direction. Looking mauka (towards the mountains) you’re treated to lush green views of the slopes of Mauna Loa with its coffee plantations and macadamia nut farms, and makai (towards the ocean) you’ll find stunning lava rock and palm tree-lined ocean views as far as the eye can see.

Unit #71 is a sunny and spacious ocean view studio unit that can sleep up to 4, with a queen bed in the bedroom area and a queen pull-out sofa bed in the living room. The bedroom alcove includes large windows on two walls with ocean and lanai views and louvers for air flow, and a large closet and bedside dressers with room for storage. Located inside the closet you will find plenty of hangers, extra bedding, an iron and ironing board should you find a need for them, and a clothes drying rack for your wet swimsuits and towels for use on the lanai. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a rain shower head and fun tropical fish tiles, and shampoo/conditioner/body wash for your use. The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need for your stay including a full-size refrigerator with freezer, stove/oven, microwave, auto drip coffee maker/grinder, new NutriBullet blender, rice cooker, electric kettle, toaster, BBQ tools, and many pots, pans, cooking utensils and dishes. You will also find some spices, salt, pepper and cooking oil. The living area includes a new 42” smart TV for streaming or cable, some books and games, and both a ceiling and tower fan. There is a desk for your use, and wifi is provided. Ocean views from kitchen, living area and bedroom.
The expanded lanai offers two separate sitting areas, one for dining and enjoying the view, and a more private sitting area shielded by lovely tropical plants. The lanai is our favorite place to eat our meals, have our morning coffee while enjoying the sunrise views, or relaxing with a glass of wine at night while stargazing. The night sky views here are amazing due to the lack of city lights. You probably have never seen so many stars before, it’s amazing! There is plenty of room on the lanai or on the grassy area in front of the lanai to do yoga (yoga mats included!). The distant sounds of the ocean, the rustling of the palms in the warm breeze and the bird songs, combined with the dramatic view of the waves crashing against the black lava rock coastline is so breathtaking and intoxicating, you may want to spend most of your time right here!

Just a few steps away down a winding path you will come to the lovely pool area with refreshing swimming pool, a lava rock design hot tub, gas BBQ grills, bathrooms, an outdoor shower, ice machine, koi pond with waterfalls, beautiful landscaping with tiki torches, and plenty of tables, chairs and lounge chairs. With the sweeping ocean and mountain views and the warm tradewinds it’s impossible not to feel completely relaxed here!

The unit is conveniently situated near two different parking lots. You can choose to enter the unit either through the front door, where you will find a small cabinet for storage and descend down a short flight of stairs to the living area, or you can enter through the lanai door and avoid the stairs, drop off your sandy gear, and use the hose to rinse off after your day at the beach. There is no air-conditioning in the unit but we do have a ceiling fan plus tower and table fans. Usually with all the windows and doors open you will find that the tradewinds keep things comfortable. If the unit does get too hot it shouldn’t last long. To cool off, we like to head down to the pool or the beach for a dip or just to relax in the shade.

Here at Sea Mountain Resort you will find yourself in a secluded and peaceful oasis surrounded by nature. This is unspoiled Hawaii, far from the highrises and crowds of Waikiki. It’s the only resort on this side of the island, and the closest resort to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the #1 tourist attraction on the Big Island. It’s also the closest resort to both the island’s most popular black sand beach and it's only green sand beach, and a short drive from countless other attractions and activities, including ancient Hawaiian historical sites, lava caves, and coffee plantation tours. The famous Punalu’u Bake Shop is just 10 minutes away in the quaint town of Na’alehu, offering sweet bread, malasadas (Portuguese donuts) and other goodies. In town you will also find several local restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a park with a playground, and a farmer’s market each Wednesday and Saturday.
A short walk from the resort brings you to Punalu’u Beach with it’s gorgeous black sand, palm trees, water lily-filled pond, daily visits from Hawaiian sea turtles, and a lifeguard on duty. Here you can play in the waves, take a swim or snorkel with the tropical fish and turtles, or relax in a beach chair or hammock strung between two palm trees, napping or reading a good book. Everything you need for a fun-filled day at the beach is included in your condo rental: beach chairs, beach towels, umbrellas, hammock, snorkel gear and ice chest/coolers.

(Some important things to note)
Sea Mountain is in a remote location, about 1 hour 45 minutes from the Kona airport and 1 hour 10 minutes from the Hilo airport. A car is a must as public transportation is very limited. You will want to stock up on groceries in Kona or Hilo before you head to the resort as there is very little available nearby. Pahala, about 10 minutes away heading towards Hilo, has a gas station, a small market and a small Long’s Drugs. This is also where the Ka’u Coffee Mill is located, with coffee tasting, gift shop and free tours. Na’alehu, also 10 minutes away but headed towards Kailua-Kona, has a few restaurants and coffee shops along with the Punalu’u Bake Shop and gift store. The nearest grocery stores are in the funky community of Ocean View, about 30 minutes away, but selection is limited and prices are high. There are also a handful of restaurants, a coffee shop, and other businesses here. More restaurants can be found in Volcano Village, which is also about a 30 minute drive. Be prepared to drive if you’re planning to go out.
There is no air conditioning or heat in the unit as the temperatures year-round normally stay between 65-85 degrees. There are windows and doors with screens throughout the unit allowing for great air-flow, and there are fans provided. If you get chilly there are extra blankets available. You can sit inside of an air-conditioned space anywhere, but one of the best things about being at Sea Mountain is keeping all the doors and windows open to feel the warm tropical tradewinds! Heaven!
There are two clean laundry areas equipped with newer appliances that make doing your laundry quick and easy. You can install the PayRange app and not have to worry about quarters, and the app will also notify you when the cycle ends, so you can relax at the pool or on the lanai while you wait!. Washing and drying each take about 30 minutes per load. No worries about doing your laundry in the condo and adding all that heat and humidity! You can also do much bigger loads and finish faster than you can with the small stackable washer/dryer units.
The golf course and tennis courts are currently closed but are under new ownership. There are golf courses located nearby in Volcano Village and Discovery Harbor.

- "Chose this location because we wanted to be close to Volcanoes National Park and have beach and pool access. This was the best vacation we’ve ever had. Loved seeing the turtles every day at Punalu’u beach. Kilauea started erupting our first morning so we made several visits to the park, even before sunrise to get the best view of the lava lake. Relatively short drives to Hilo for a helicopter tour of the volcanoes and hiking to Papakolea beach. The pool and hot tub were a great way to end our days, using the grill and chatting with others about their days. The pool is locked at 9:00 pm so there were never any worries about noise. This condo was everything our family of 3 needed and more. Everything was easy to find. Well stocked, conveniently close to the pool with a view of the ocean from the lanai. The unit was clean and extremely comfortable. Comfy bed and pillows. Fans were perfectly positioned and kept us cool every night. Loved this place. Loved our vacation."

The 18 hold golf course rolls thru the property with ocean views at almost every hole. Golf carts make the round a breeze. Hiking, mountain biking, diving/snorkeling, kayaking, bird watching, photographing, scenic drives, shopping, sightseeing, museums, restaurants and Volcano National Park are just a short drive away.

- "This condo was a lucky find on our Big Island vacation. There are great views of palm trees and the ocean from the lanai. The pool and hot tub area was very nice with oceanfront views as well. 30 min to Volcano National Park and within walking distance to Black Sands Beach, with turtles. Cooler temps at night and awning windows that open to let in the nice ocean breeze made for great sleeping. Remote location is quiet and relaxing. With no restauarnts nearby, I would suggest providing more baking pans for the oven (pizza, chicken). It would also be nice to have better patio chairs since we spent a lot of time out there, and a broom to sweep up sand, etc. Overall, the place is awesome and we would definitely stay here again! Thanks so much!"

We are from Kona and had a funeral to attended in Naalehu so it was easier for us to stay out there instead drive all the way back to Kona. Room had everything we needed. - "Was a great place, great price, and aesome location. Perfect for what i was looking for i definitely recommend staying here." - "Tidy and nice" - "Comfy bed, nice shower, Wifi was good. BBQ's are not allowed at the condos, which I was disappointed in - you have to book one of two down at the pool. Black Sand beach is beautiful. You'll definitely need beach shoes though - the black sand is very coarse and hard on the feet." - "Pest control was done the same day we arrived, so they forgot keys inside the condo instead of the lockbox. Luckily management was responsive and able to get us into the condo. Pricing was decent compared to other places. Bed mattress had about 2/10 for comfort. Kitchen had a basic setup. Bathroom shower was redone nicely, but the floors and walls needed some work."
