Also, in the gift shop is a cooler of wine/beer which can be enjoyed in the comfort of your room. The staff was gracious enough let us borrow wine glasses and a corkscrew for the night. Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay while visiting the national park. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer!"

The cabin is rustic with non-drinkable water and a gas fireplace, but drinking water is provided in jugs. That is the only inconvenience, and very minor for us! - "I don't usually write a lot of reviews, but I specifically came back to this booking that we had in April of 2022 because I've thought about it so much since that stay. This was possibly the most unique setting I've ever had the pleasure of staying at; this was a hobby farm filled with free-range animals that wandered all over the grounds. The portion the owner uses as a visitor space is a wonderful little apartment attached to one of their outbuildings. It had views of the pond and all the animals, yet we felt completely left alone (in a good way!) We had a wonderful night's sleep away from the bustle of town. If you're looking for a unique experience in Hilo I'd highly recommend this incredible property. They made us breakfast the following morning and it was wonderful. We only stayed one night so I can't comment on a lot of the hospitality outside of the breakfast we had, but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that it would all be equally great. Fair warning; there is not much to do in the town of Volcano, so I'd suggest packing snacks and drinks if you're planning to stay for more than a few days. One other fair warning: This is in the rain forest; you may encounter muddy terrain so be careful if you have a cheapo rental car. We had a Jeep and had no issues. If you want a really neat experience with good hosts, don't hesititate to book this property. "

Wow." - "Volcano House, located in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, is a hotel with a restaurant, a walk-in gift shop, historical displays, and a breath-taking view of Kīauea, an active shield volcano, right from the windows. You are also able to walk outside to look at the volcano, as well as exploring other areas of the national park, such as the Sulphur Banks/Steam vents trail, and many others. Even though we only stayed for a day, the overall conditon of the hotel is relatively clean and well-managed. The staff were polite and kind. The rooms provide accomodations for those who struggle to sleep at night. There was little light pollution, making it easy to stargaze right outside the hotel. We were able to explore most of the overlooks and trails we wanted to see since the hotel is walkable, making these areas easy to access. Overall, I recommend staying at Volcano House if you are planning to spend a day at the national park, even if it's just for one night."

Volcano apparently has them frequently, and they feel kind of like the wind is shaking the house. However they don't last long, and added to the sense of excitement and mystery of the stay. 5 minute drive to Volcanoes national park, 40 minutes to Walmart, Target, and cheap gas in Hilo. Access other areas in about 2 hour drives to the north east coast or west coast. Can't wait to stay again!"

- "Beautiful location in a very quiet neighborhood. We stayed a week at Volcano Hale. Bought our own groceries near the airport since we read there were no stores near the house. Drove over 2 hours from Kona and less than an hour from Hilo when we did day trips. The house is only close to Volcano National Park. We did everything from seeing the turtles on Black Sand Beach, 4 wheeling to star gaze up over 13,800 feet on Mauna Kea Volcano, 4 wheeling to Green Sand Beach, saw Akaka waterfall, the sea arch, snorkeling at Captain Cook Monument, hiking 4 miles, secluded beaches, several costal cliff overlooks etc. This home was very comfortable in the middle of nowhere with beautiful flowers and we enjoyed the short moments we saw other guests. Everyone is tired after sightseeing so we all just slept. We cooked most of our meals here. There is a refrigerator to keep groceries cold. A stove, microwave, coffee maker with coffee provided and a toaster. Lots of clean towels, shampoo, soap and toilet paper provided. No lotion or conditioner. We had to empty the dehumidifier daily and even had a guest from downstairs ask us to turn ours off because it rattled his ceiling. I guess bring ear plugs so you can sleep peacefully like we did. Our room #306 on the second floor had 2 queen beds. Same floor as the kitchen and dining room. The ground floor had several rooms, own entrance, bathroom and sitting area. The 3rd floor has another bathroom & 2 bedrooms. Yes we recommend this home. "

- "Stacey's home could not have been more perfect. Upon opening the door I immediately felt peaceful and at ease and in awe of how beautiful it was. Her home is beautifully and tastefully decorated and the fresh flowers were so exquisite that I had to keep touching them to see if they actually were real. The home is light and airy, with tons of windows and feels much bigger than it’s actual size. The bed is to die for (honestly struggled to get out of it each morning it was so comfy). The kitchen is fully equipped and light and bright. The grounds are just beautiful. Lush green plants everywhere, immaculately cared for. Except for the banana trees and palms it almost feels like a sweet cabin in the mountains. With that said, the temperature is a bit cooler here but the electric wood stove was the absolute best. And the hot tub was perfect. With the temperature being cooler, it was a treat to be in the hot tub and marvel at the night sky and stars. This lovely home really is just right down the street from the Volcano National Park so it was especially nice to be able to go for long hikes and not worry about a long drive back to the house. Communication with Stacey was excellent. Directions are spot on. You will not regret your decision to stay in this lovely home!!"

Enjoy that morning Kona coffee or glass of wine in the evening on the Lanai outside while enjoying the sounds and magic of the rainforest.. You won't see anything but huge fern trees and many birds and our local Kalij Pheasants when you sit on our Lanai!

We have an amazing fireplace to take the chill from the house on those chilly rainforest evenings, and we supply a starter amount of firewood. Enjoy the Smart TV that you can watch your favorite Netflix, Prime etc. movies. We also have a few DVD movies to choose from if you just want to just chill at home. Three sky tubes in our ceiling offer moonlight or sunlight into the kitchen and living room for ambient lighting.

The Village and National Park are less than 3 miles away. You can also explore our artist community and dine at some ono (tasty) restaurants here in Volcano. Our kitchen here at Hale Mauka is perfectly set up with everything you will need to make that meal at home or use the outdoor gas grill. Our dining room that is almost completely glass with views of the beautiful rainforest!

We think this vacation rental is ideal for 2 adults or a family. It is not always ideal for 4 adults as there is one queen bed and one double bed, so if you are especially tall or large the double bed might be too small for you. We want everyone to be most comfortable while staying in Volcano Village Serenity Suite!

We have comfy "hapi" coats for you to wear and soft fuzzy socks if needed. You will be "happy" here!
A generous locally sourced breakfast is provided on the first morning in your suite. (Note vegetarian but not vegan) It will all be in the fridge when you arrive. Our water is excellent, so don't buy any bottled water.

Our floor plan begins with 2 luxurious bedrooms, 2 full baths, with guests enjoying our plush King & Queen-sized beds amidst four-layer bedding, designed for absolute Comfort, plus Futon sleepers a Baby Crib and Highchair. 2 to 3 beds, inflatable mattress and portable crib for infant or toddler available. My home is family friendly not childproof.

~ Volcano Village is an outlying small township with an eclectic mix of scientists, artists and local entrepreneurs in a village-like community with a variety of restaurants, cafes, and art galleries. The village and its surrounding inhabitants blend imperceptibly into the lush Native forested landscape. The whole area has been designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve and Historic Site.

Volcano Village - a 'World Heritage Site' with nice restaurants, galleries and only 1 mile from the unforgettable Volcanoes National Park. Our wonderful Cottage Home being adjacent to both Volcano Village & the Park is a perfect getaway for Adventure, Romance or as a retreat getaway. Easily accessible from both Hilo and Kona airports on the Queen’s Highway 11. Driving distance from Kona Airport, with no stops, is approximately 2.5 to 3.0 hours; whereas from the Hilo Airport is approximately 45 minutes to our driveway; and another 5-minutes drive to Volcano Village proper, depending on weather conditions.

~ About the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park ~
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, established in 1916, displays the results of 70 million years of volcanism, migration, and evolution -- processes that thrust a bare land from the sea and clothed it with complex and unique ecosystems and a distinct human culture. The park encompasses diverse environments that range from sea level to the summit of the earth's most massive volcano, Mauna Loa at 13,677 feet. Kilauea, the world's most active volcano, now taking a pause, offers scientists insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and visitors' views of dramatic volcanic landscapes.
