- "Very clean and convenient. Everything is walking distance." - "Fantastic stay. Excellent staff. Beautiful view." - "Business trip in Sausalito. Overall the hotel was fine. The " hillside cottage" rooms require climbing stairs, which all in all, was not very bad. A bit like a maze at first, but in one day I had it down. . Front desk staff is totally awesome. The room itself was a little small & felt tight, and the sink fixtures were not tightened- they tended to come off, but really a very minor problem. This place had some great views,a perfect location, and it was really clean. Decent gym for a boutique hotel. Definitely recommended... "

- "Such a special location with excellent accommodations!" - "Sometimes life gets so overwhelming. I am so grateful and blessed that I have Cavallo point to go to as a reset. It is truly one of my favorite places in the Bay Area to treat, refresh, and relax. The proximity to the Golden Gate Bridge, and downtown Sausalito are just a couple of the perks. The smell of the eucalyptus that surrounds the property makes you automatically Melt your tension away. Whenever I come here, I like the contemporary rooms better. I have stayed in the historic and they were a little loud and not as light filled as I like. I love waking up in the morning and walking to the lobby to get coffee and pastries, and come back to the room and to relax before going on hike in the surrounding beautiful areas. The healing arts Center is truly healing. I had the best deep tissue massage this weekend and it was a such a peaceful setting. This is one of my favorite places to stay ever!"

You’ll find your cozy cottage peacefully nestled amidst the lush gardens of the property’s quaint private courtyard. You’ll be hard-pressed to determine whether or not to take a perch under the serene Sausalito sun while watching the tide roll-away, or, lounging away the day with a good book and cool breeze to keep you company.
Godspeed!
- "Property is in walking distance to downtown Sausalito and many shops and restaurants. The property is high up on the hillside, with great views of the bay." - "Don't let the 86 stairs and parking challenge keep you away from this quaint cottage on the hill above the bay! Beautiful million dollar views of both the bay and Sausalito skyline from your private deck where you can enjoy morning coffee as the sun rises over the bay. A short walk away is Golden Gate Market, a convenient neighborhood market with friendly helpful staff and surprisingly well stocked with groceries and delicious prepared food packaged for take-a-way meals. The Italian restaurant Aurora is also within walking distance - fabulous food, friendly service and away from the crowds. I loved the location of this property as I felt more like a Sausalito local and less of a tourist but if it's the tourist's experience you desire it's just a scenic walk away down Bridgeway along the bay. Best of both worlds."

Very private coastal home nestled at treetop level yet with dramatic ocean views from every room. House was built and finished October 2010. Light filled house with sky lights, soaring ceilings, floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean, Headland Mountains, crashing waves and San Francisco beyond. Huge wrap around deck, private deck off master bedroom with Adirondacks and lounge chair for sunning, relaxing, watching the waves or nighttime stargazing. Hawks and falcons fly overhead as whales and dolphins pass by at various times of the year.
After a day of hiking the endless coastal and mountain trails, watch the moon rise from your living room window seats, enjoy a BBQ on your deck, take a deep bathtub soak to relax, and finally get lulled to sleep at night by the sounds of the crashing Pacific waves and the far off fog horn which escorts boats through the Golden Gate Bridge!

- "Stunning! This was my wife's first trip to California and seeing the Pacific Ocean. Hence, this was the perfect place to make that lifetime impression. It was simply spectacular! The pictures online were helpful, but being there in real life was amazing! The views were fantastic, the wildlife was exciting to see and interact with, and the proximity to various things we wanted to see and do was wonderful. It was so cool to see the moon rise over Muir Beach as we sat in bed. And then to have the beautiful sun rises too! I genuinely feel I couldn't have picked a better place. It was so relaxing we were hesitant to leave and do other things. We could have simply sat on the deck chairs and watched the days go by. As someone who cleans homes for a living, I'm probably one of the worse people to have as a guest. Having said that, the property was spotless! Things were so well taken care of and clean. I was very impressed! An added benefit of our stay was being able to use the laundry. After five days of hiking in Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks, a washer and dryer were a welcome relief! If you do choose to stay here, do venture out and visit the Muir Beach Overlook that's up over the hill behind the property; spectacular views! Good place to watch the sun set too! Muir Woods is nearby, within 3 miles - take the back road to get there. And the Pelican Inn has good food and a wonderful old English pub vibe to it. Our visit was worth every penny spent!"

- "Can't beat the views and how relaxing this place it! Perfect getaway" - "Just yes. This place is rustic (in a good way) and exactly what we needed. Views were beautiful. 100% recommend." - "Great experience, definitely would return." - "We had a wonderful experience with this listing. It is a rustic, chic, minimalist cottage perched on the edge of the Pacific. It has a fantastic view of Muir Beach and distant views of the entrance to San Francisco Bay; lights of the peninsula add a sparkle to the horizon. There is a REAL fireplace with REAL wood in the living area and bedroom. The hot tub has its own cliff edge sanctuary, protected from view and the direct sun by a beautiful coastal pine, yet close to the beauty and sound of the surf. It is the best hot tub view we have experienced! There is close and easy access to the beach. The bed is very comfortable and has the same ocean view as the living room. The owner has gone to great lengths to make the cottage warm, comfortable, and relaxing. And speaking of the owner, Sigward is an exceptional host - very solicitous of our needs and readily accessible to help in any way he can. His food recommendations were excellent- particularly FISH. In Sausalito. We cannot recommend this property too highly! Richard and Sherry"

- "Lovely stay at Harrison house. Teresa was a perfect host. So accommodating and flexible as plans evolved. Hope to be back soon. Thank you!" - "Harrison House could not have been lovelier. My stay was part of some unfortunate circumstances, and although I would have preferred to have been in my own home, Harrison House was as perfect an alternative as could be. The view is beautiful and the neighborhood charming and quiet. The owner has made this place homey and inviting without giving the feeling that you're invading somebody else's space, with details from the stones loving placed under the bathroom window to the comfy chair in the perfect phone spot. I found everything I needed (scissors! tape! Ziploc bags!). It was the home away from home that I needed."

- "We were delighted to find this ideal spot. It was in a very perfect location for shopping and eating. Can’t wait to visit again" - "This was in a perfect spot and so comfy and cozy. Marion was just an amazing host and we would totally recommend staying here." - "If you’re debating whether or not to book this charming guest house, do it. Do it yesterday. There is a separate gate that leads to the back porch of the house where you’ll find the cutest guest house. The place is a decent size for two people. Everything was clean and found just as described in the listing. The kitchen is minimal but there’s enough for you to get by. The fridge space is small and does not include a freezer. No spices. When I arrived the weather was pretty hot. Inside the house was warm as well even with the fans on. Once I opened the doors a windows to allow more airflow it cooled down and I was able to sleep comfortably. The next morning the home owner was kind enough to check on me to make sure I was comfortable and asked if there was anything she could do. Most of the trip I either spent on the porch or exploring the near by trails and when I returned the house was always a comfortable temperature. This cottage in is prime location! Just outside the busyness of sf. Point Bonita is only 20min away and so worth it!! But you could honestly spend all your time at this cottage or enjoying Sausalito’s cute shops/restaurants and enjoying the beautiful bay views. I could go on forever about this place! I was so sad to leave. I will definitely be back!"

- "What an experience to stay on a 100-year-old boat! We enjoyed ourselves to the max on the boat with some local wine and charcuterie from Mollie Stone’s. Brian was very helpful to all of our inquiries! We loved every second of our stay!" - "On a recent trip to Northern California with my grandson, I was looking for unique experiences for him. Brian’s boat fit the bill. Anchored in the Sausalito marina, we spent the night aboard and then took a two hour San Francisco Bay excursion the next morning. Definitely not the same as a hotel stay, required a little more effort, but that was the point. Weather during this second week of June was extremely windy and foggy but that added to the experience. Brian was a great host and easy to communicate with. Would recommend to anyone looking for not just a run of the mill lodging choice."

Serene garden apartment in the Sausalito hills
This serene one-bedroom apartment with private entry is situated at the end of a long, tree lined driveway on a large, 2/3 acre property nestled into the Sausalito hills. It occupies the lower floor of a private home whose upper floor is occupied by owner. Recently renovated and fully furnished, it looks out on greenery and large established trees, with views of the bay and Mt. Tamalpais. The unit embodies privacy and quiet, yet is walking distance to public transportation and downtown Sausalito: 1 mile to the ferry service, and just a few blocks to bus lines, the Caledonia Street shops and downtown Sausalito restaurants and shops. It is also minutes from various hiking trails in the area: Marin Headlands, Tennessee Valley, Muir Woods.
The location is also optimal for travel to desirable destinations both north and south: 2 minutes to the Spencer Ave/MonteMar Drive entrance to highway 101, 5 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge, 20 minutes to most of San Francisco’s main attractions, and 40 minutes to the Sonoma/Napa wine country.
There is one large bedroom suitable for a couple or a single individual (one queen bed only, no other sleeping accommodations), as well as a large living room, with a kitchenette and bathroom (shower only, no tub) between the two. There is also ample outdoor space to relax in.
BEDROOM: Wake up to a view of greenery, plants, established heritage trees, and filtered views of SF Bay from the queen size bed. A dresser with pullout desk shelf and various small tables and chests are available to hold and organize your belongings, with a chaise longue for reading and relaxing. A small closet with shelves and full-length mirror contains a hotel-type safe for your valuables, as well as extra sheets and towels. The floors are ceramic tile with warm area rugs, and the unit has its own gas heater for cool mornings or evenings.
THE BATHROOM has a shower (no tub), with a beautiful stained glass window of curling green vines that echoes the outside greenery. A mirrored, custom made cherry wood shelving/cabinet and ample lighting provides space for your toiletries. Extra towels, washcloths and bath mats are provided so that you don’t have to do laundry before the weekly cleaning service arrives.
LIVING ROOM: This sunny room, with floor to ceiling windows along one wall, contains a large antique trestle table for dining or working, a library, and two comfortable armchairs where you can watch television or stream Netflix movies (46" HD TV). The floors are Mexican pavers topped with oriental area carpets. A sliding glass door leads to a private view deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee or meals on balmy nights.
THE KITCHENETTE: Suitable for light cooking, the kitchenette features a butcher block countertop, a two-burner inset induction stovetop with hood, a microwave and half-refrigerator, as well as a dishwasher. The cabinets are furnished with dishes, cutlery, and cookware for the induction stovetop, a toaster, blender, French press coffee maker as well as a drip filter setup. An electric Breville toaster/oven is available upon request. If you need something else, I can usually provide it from my own kitchen.
WASHER AND DRYER for tenant use only are located a few steps away from the front entrance of the unit.
OUTDOOR SPACE
In addition to the private view deck off the living room, a sunny flagstone patio area with bench, lounge chair, and table and chairs in the lower garden provides another outdoor venue for morning coffee or for lounging in the sun. A Weber gas grill is located here for cooking and dining al fresco. The patio, the grill and the view deck are for tenant use only.

- "This quiet, lushly landscaped, beautifully designed space tucked into Sausalito's hillside with views of the bay, boats and wildlife from every room turned out to be perfect for our needs. As both my husband and I were receiving radiation treatments at UCSF Med Center, commutes to SF were only 20-25 minutes away. The space on our return was perfect, private and serene complete with a secluded patio. Our nicely equipped little kitchen made it possible to prepare most of our meals, though we occasionally took advantage of the exceptional restaurants close by. Our host was available and helpful throughout our visit but otherwise giving us the space and quiet we needed. All in all the property exceeded our expectations."

- "very good" - "Excellent location. Spotlessly clean and all new everything. Other than a couple of amazing fog horns, we didn’t hear a thing. (Reasonable consequence of being so near the ocean). " - "Awesome location and space. Great help from hosts" - "Ok" - "Our only issue was a long wait for someone to show up to check us in. Maybe 20 minutes. Then we needed to pay for parking and the whole amount was charged even though we had paid vrbo already. But we got it all worked out. It was a comfortable place and was close to all the attractions. - "My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights and had a wonderful time. Many great restaurants within walking distance and very cute town. The houseboat is clean and updated. Has everything for cooking meals in too. The bed is very comfortable. Our favorite place was the top deck. We sat up there every evening to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Mallory was always responsive to messages and made a great video to show how to find the houseboat and use everything inside. It was a unique experience and I highly recommend it!"

- "Our recent stay at this apartment at The Gables Inn was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to downtown Sausalito, where we enjoyed incredible restaurants, charming boutique shops, and even a few local museums. It’s the perfect spot to soak in everything this beautiful town has to offer. One of the unexpected perks was the onsite parking. While there’s a 30 daily fee, it’s actually a better deal than the public parking nearby, which can run 35 or more per day. Having a guaranteed spot made exploring the area stress-free.The apartment itself was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. Fresh linens, all the necessary utensils, and even a K-cup coffee machine stocked generously with Peet’s coffee and creamers made it easy to settle in. It truly felt like a home away from home—spacious, airy, and thoughtfully arranged.A special shout-out to the staff, who were exceptionally friendly and responsive. Before we even arrived, they texted to see if we needed anything, and when we inquired about the couch folding out to a bed, they had it made up with fresh bedding and pillows—without us having to ask again. Throughout our stay, they were just a quick text away. When we needed new towels, they were delivered in under five minutes! The TVs were fully functional with access to Netflix, which was a great touch for winding down after a day of exploring."

- "We stayed for five weeks along with our small puppy. It was a lovely location and perfect for two people." - "We fully enjoyed our month stay in this apartment with fabulous views of the bay. The kitchen was perfect, with the basic tools and contemporary appliances. The king bed was most comfortable. The gas heater worked perfectly. As it was unusually cold and windy, we didn't take advantage of it ourselves, but our dachshund learned quickly to use the outside space, but just at the corner is a wonderful grass neighborhood dog park. We always found street parking. The neighborhood is quiet, and driving to town was quick. Our hosts were easy to contact and always responded promptly. The only thing I missed was a set of binoculars to watch the pelicans, sailboats, kayakers, and ships come and go along the bay."

Our condo is high in the Sausalito hills with gorgeous views through the trees to the Bay. We like to sit and watch the boats from the balcony and see sunrise across the water as we wake up each morning. The hikers' paradise of Golden Gate National Recreation Area is just behind us, and you can access a trail from our street or drive a few minutes to a vast network of Marin trails. Walk/drive down the hill to eat in one of Sausalito's waterfront restaurants. Best of all we are only 12 minutes to SF by car, ferry or public bus.
We have maximized our space for style and comfort for 2 adults who work at home. Our second bedroom is used as a dedicated office, with a twin-sized daybed for occasional guests (or naps). Amenities include:
- one queen bedroom with premium linens
- one full bath
- fully equipped office with high speed Wifi (1,000 Mbps)
- twin-sized daybed in office
- additional pull-out desk workspace in the living room
- balcony with table and chairs
- smart TV
- washer/dryer
- dishwasher
- EV car charger
- dedicated parking for 2 cars
- fine art and stylish mid-century furnishings
In keeping with Sausalito minimum-stay regulations, we only rent our home for 30+ days. Open to longer-term stays (up to 9 months).
Pets considered with higher deposit/nightly fee.
Accessibility: Interior stairs (carpeted) between living/dining/kitchen area and bedroom/office/bathroom floor. No stairs between parking and front door.
We are longtime hosts of a 5-star property in northwestern CT (rented for the academic year). We opened our new Sausalito home to guests in 2022 when we started traveling more seriously, and have had wonderful, respectful tenants, several of whom have been repeat guests. This spring we moved next door (which is also for rent for a few months each year--ask about a combined rental). If we are out of town, we have a local property manager who will be available for anything that comes up. A reliable housekeeper is on call if you desire cleaning during your stay. We will do our best to make you feel completely at home!
- "Been a wonderful summer at the quiet and perfect place! Can’t wait to do it again next year!"

Our home with views is in the heart of Sausalito, the "Amalfi Coast of California." Minutes from San Francisco, with urban life and nature access at the same time: birds and deer roam the neighborhood, hiking trails and beaches abound, historic Victorian homes are next to great restaurants, live music venues, and gourmet grocery stores. The Ferry terminal is a 5 minute walk and San Francisco a 25-minute ferry ride, or 20-minute drive over the Golden Gate Bridge, or one- hour bike ride away.
We are in a quiet residential neighborhood just one block up a hill from the main street through Sausalito. The SF Ferry dock is a 5 minute walk.
Sausalito is a hillside town on a part of the SF Bay known as Richardson Bay. The neighborhood we are in is known as the "Sun Belt" because it's the warmest and least windy part of Sausalito. Downtown can be accessed via several streets or several stairways between properties. Sausalito is know for its beautiful views of San Francisco, historic old Victorian homes, and access to nature.
There is plenty of safe on-street neighborhood parking available.
There are two flights of stairs to get to the guest house. One from the street down to our property and another from the front of the house down to the guest house.
The neighborhood is great for walking. Lots of historic Victorian homes and beautiful views to see. You can walk to beaches on the bay and to trailheads that lead out into the Marin Headlands and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
The area is very popular with bikers (road and mountain) and there are bike shops nearby that rent bikes for the day (including ebikes).
Most of San Francisco is assessable via public transportation, starting with a scenic ferry ride from a dock that is a 5 minute walk. Napa and the wine country are about 40 minutes north by car. The beautiful natural areas and beaches of West Marin and Tomales Bay are about 45 minutes by car.
- "My husband and I stayed at this Sausalito unit for six weeks. It has a spectacular view of the bay and San Francisco. It is walking distance to amazing restaurants, shopping and local scenery. The host was very accessible and accommodating and enjoyable to chat with. The unit is supplied with all the essentials. We were sad to have to leave." - "We had a spectacularly great time at this property. The property is ideally located – away from the fracas enough for quiet; high enough in the hills for stunning views; yet still a short walk to town. The living area is outfitted with comfortable furniture and a huge flat screen TV. The kitchen and (very large) pantry are equipped with every conceivable item one could want, including four (!) choices of coffee-makers. The ultra-high speed internet connection proves very handy. The beds are made with quality linens. The entire property was spotlessly clean on arrival, and we took advantage of further cleanings (on a month-long stay, as mandated by the city for rental platforms like VRBO). Most of, John, who primarily handles dealings with guests, and his wife, Mojgan, could not possibly be more accommodating, pleasant, fair minded, and responsive. The place is a gem. "

This comfy Sausalito home is just a fabulous place to stay! Perfect for people who are looking for an awesome staycation -- to relax while working remotely or anywhere near the area.
The Neighborhood:
A very special neighborhood! What's amazing about Sausalito is that even with San Francisco just minutes away, Sausalito is really a small thriving Town. People know each other, they look out for each other, and they help each other.
Moreover, the town-wide events are fantastic! The Rec department sponsored Bocce leagues, City-wide garage sales, Chili cook-offs, Souper Bowl, Gingerbread House decorating competition, Jazz & Blues on summer evenings...
It's a real life actual small-town, with a 4th of July parade like you remember from when you were a kid. It's all that while being a 10-minute drive or short ferry ride into the City!
Getting Around:
Sausalito is a just a fabulous place. There's a huge influx of tourists, particularly in the summer, starting with the first morning ferry from San Francisco but they stay on the other side of town and in any case are mostly gone with the last ferry.
Location, Location, Location -- one of the best you can find! You can hike into the bordering Marin Headlands and Golden Gate Recreational Area. Or, take a 20-minute drive to Muir woods or 45 minutes to the heart of the wine country!
Other Things to Note:
* 60 Nights Stay Minimum*
* Due to the length of stay and for security purposes, a background check via Zillow is required before confirming any booking. *
**Please note that signing a separate Lease Agreement is a requirement for rental by the HOA.**
Please Note: A processing fee applies to all reservations. This fee is non-refundable in the event of a cancellation, regardless of the timing or reason for the cancellation. We encourage guests to review all reservation details carefully before booking.

- "Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The best equipped rental place we ever stayed at. Going from kitchen and bathroom supplies over foldable picknick chairs, anything you could possibly need during your stay and maybe forgot to pack, was available upon arrival. The house was even better than expected from the pictures. Very practical lay-out and high quality furnishings. The views are amazing, the location is fantastic. Very quiet but near shops, restaurants, bike and hike trails, public transport etc. Sausalito is a very nice place to discover the good side of Californian life. Rhonda and her property managers were easily available for questions and info. We had an amazing summer!"

The space
The owners, Mike and Laura, live in the downstairs, one-floor unit and are happy to answer any questions you have about the area. The backyard is reserved for the owners and our sweet dog, Koko.
- "Just book it. You'll be glad you did. 2 beds - both very comfortable - one upstairs, one on main level - 2 decks with a view of the Bay - both amazing - great restaurants - definitely eat at Freds. Don't book something in SF - this is so much nicer. We did several nights here and then 3 more in SF - so sorry we left. It's fabulous - don't doubt it - just do it."
