Serene garden apartment in the Sausalito hills

This serene one-bedroom apartment with private entry is situated at the end of a long, tree lined driveway on a large, 2/3 acre property nestled into the Sausalito hills. It occupies the lower floor of a private home whose upper floor is occupied by owner. Recently renovated and fully furnished, it looks out on greenery and large established trees, with views of the bay and Mt. Tamalpais. The unit embodies privacy and quiet, yet is walking distance to public transportation and downtown Sausalito: 1 mile to the ferry service, and just a few blocks to bus lines, the Caledonia Street shops and downtown Sausalito restaurants and shops. It is also minutes from various hiking trails in the area: Marin Headlands, Tennessee Valley, Muir Woods.

The location is also optimal for travel to desirable destinations both north and south: 2 minutes to the Spencer Ave/MonteMar Drive entrance to highway 101, 5 minutes to the Golden Gate Bridge, 20 minutes to most of San Francisco’s main attractions, and 40 minutes to the Sonoma/Napa wine country.

There is one large bedroom suitable for a couple or a single individual (one queen bed only, no other sleeping accommodations), as well as a large living room, with a kitchenette and bathroom (shower only, no tub) between the two. There is also ample outdoor space to relax in.

BEDROOM: Wake up to a view of greenery, plants, established heritage trees, and filtered views of SF Bay from the queen size bed. A dresser with pullout desk shelf and various small tables and chests are available to hold and organize your belongings, with a chaise longue for reading and relaxing. A small closet with shelves and full-length mirror contains a hotel-type safe for your valuables, as well as extra sheets and towels. The floors are ceramic tile with warm area rugs, and the unit has its own gas heater for cool mornings or evenings.

THE BATHROOM has a shower (no tub), with a beautiful stained glass window of curling green vines that echoes the outside greenery. A mirrored, custom made cherry wood shelving/cabinet and ample lighting provides space for your toiletries. Extra towels, washcloths and bath mats are provided so that you don’t have to do laundry before the weekly cleaning service arrives.

LIVING ROOM: This sunny room, with floor to ceiling windows along one wall, contains a large antique trestle table for dining or working, a library, and two comfortable armchairs where you can watch television or stream Netflix movies (46" HD TV). The floors are Mexican pavers topped with oriental area carpets. A sliding glass door leads to a private view deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee or meals on balmy nights.

THE KITCHENETTE: Suitable for light cooking, the kitchenette features a butcher block countertop, a two-burner inset induction stovetop with hood, a microwave and half-refrigerator, as well as a dishwasher. The cabinets are furnished with dishes, cutlery, and cookware for the induction stovetop, a toaster, blender, French press coffee maker as well as a drip filter setup. An electric Breville toaster/oven is available upon request. If you need something else, I can usually provide it from my own kitchen.

WASHER AND DRYER for tenant use only are located a few steps away from the front entrance of the unit.

OUTDOOR SPACE
In addition to the private view deck off the living room, a sunny flagstone patio area with bench, lounge chair, and table and chairs in the lower garden provides another outdoor venue for morning coffee or for lounging in the sun. A Weber gas grill is located here for cooking and dining al fresco. The patio, the grill and the view deck are for tenant use only.

As both my husband and I were receiving radiation treatments at UCSF Med Center, commutes to SF were only 20-25 minutes away. The space on our return was perfect, private and serene complete with a secluded patio. Our nicely equipped little kitchen made it possible to prepare most of our meals, though we occasionally took advantage of the exceptional restaurants close by. Our host was available and helpful throughout our visit but otherwise giving us the space and quiet we needed. All in all the property exceeded our expectations."

The space
The entire flat is yours. Designer done to be as comfortable as the best boutique hotels but with a full kitchen, deck and off street parking. Recently renovated. Lots of light. Three blocks from the Bay.

This flat is one level of a peaceful mid-century duplex that feels like a tree house and reveals the Bay as you step out the front door. As the City of Sausalito bans short-term rentals, this unit is only available for rentals of 30 days or more and I will not accept short-term rentals as I do not want to subject my guest to additional taxes, fines or harassment.

Very nice place for one or two but in a pinch can accommodate up to four family members or good friends. Know that while we can accommodate up to four, we don't recommend that you have 3 or 4 adults present for a month or more as the flat is small by American standards.

Very comfortable space with high thread-count linens on the queen sized bed (in bedroom) and the couch is queen sized convertible in front of the fireplace. This is the upper unit of a duplex and is approximately 650 square feet plus about 120 square feet of deck space.

Housekeeping every two weeks is included.
Our housekeeper has been trusted with caring for my home for more than 20 years. She has a regular cleaning day every-other week and will come and clean during your stay, change the bed and bath linens and take them to be cleaned. Her cleaning normally is in the afternoon and takes about 3 hours. We hope you can enjoy the area and return to a refreshed home.
We also know that things can happen during your stay and so have a handyman and plumber nearby if there is something that needs to be addressed. Please just let us know if there is something that needs to be adjusted and it's a priority to have it taken care of for you.

The host has lived in the area more than 30 years and will fill you in on all local secrets for whatever your passion is -- wine tasting, yoga, hiking, biking, shopping, food and more.

Guests have their own off-street parking space. There is space to store your bike or other some outdoor gear. You are the only one to have access to the upper floor of this duplex and have your own private deck.

Guests need to have 3 levels of verification and a photo on Airbnb to book. All guests need to understand that this listing is in a residential neighborhood and be respectful of our neighbors and town. Please treat our town with the respect you expect for your own and keep noise levels down between 11 pm and 7 am.

I have lived in this home since 1994.When I first walked out on the deck I was so struck by the awesome beauty of the ocean and sky I knew I had to live here forever! I love the special way this house is placed in the cove, the constantly changing light and the music of the ocean waves. And that I can just walk outside my door and be on the most magical trails you can imagine.

Share my seaside apt. while I travel. This rare 2/2 with public beach has an incredible patio with a two bridge view, and seals year-round! Tranquil, walk-able to everything in Sausalito and just 8 min from San Francisco, without the hustle & bustle of the city. Views similar to Italian or Spanish villages. Two-bedroom, one Queen + en-suite bath, plus 2-twins (converts to king) with 2nd full bath. This apt is my writing & herbalist haven, fully equipped for remote work.

The space
The view and sound of the waves is experienced from every room. Open kitchen with eatery island (for 2,) stand-up desk facing Alcatraz and sofa with electric zero-gravity recliner chair and comfortable, organic linen sofa.

The owner's suite has a queen-sized bed with an en-suite full bathroom, Arcadian doors and black-out curtains facing the ocean. (Portable closet space is provided because the owner is using the closet.)

The second bedroom can be made dark and cozy, or open to the view of the ocean, with two twin-beds that easily convert to a King when un-stacked. The second full bath has a shower & small tub.

The electric sit/stand desk is conveniently set up for remote work or creative space, facing the ocean views with a large screen Dell monitor included (HDMI, USB-C) making it joyful to be a digital nomad in this very walkable village.

There is a large TV in the owner's suite, if you get bored with the views from the living room or the fire pit on the patio.

Lock box just outside the front door, allows for easy self-check-in.
PASS the door of 107-B and just before you take the stairs down to the beach, you will find a lock box attached to the railing, labled 107-B. The code is provided in the check-in instructions.

Other things to note
Swim or play on the public beach is at your own risk. Owner takes no responsibility for beach area. Private beach access just outside the patio. It is recommended that you wear shoes as the Bay Area tends to wash up old polished glass pieces from time to time. Enjoy the seal (and occasional whale) watching right from the deck!

One of the world's most spectacular homes is now available as a vacation rental. This is the American equivalent of renting a castle in Spain or an ancient stone villa in Tuscany. Yet with the luxury and conveniences of a five star hotel.

The SS City of Seattle (Yellow Ferry) was originally launched in 1888. She is the oldest surviving ferryboat on the West Coast. The Ferry combines luxury and convenience in a spectacular and memorable setting. Surrounded by open water, she is simply the best houseboat in the best berth. Suitable for couples, or families, the Yellow Ferry offers the vacation experience of a lifetime.

The rental suite on the Yellow Ferry is over 2,500 square feet. One enters the Ferry into an open great room that is over 1,000 square ft, but divided into separate areas for dining and lounging. Surrounded by floor to ceiling windows looking out to the bay, the main room is both spacious and intimate. The original deck consists of three-inch thick, virgin Douglas Fir, inlaid with Teak. You will quickly find there is a timeless and soothing quality to being surrounded by 120 year old wooden timbers and beams.

Off the living room is huge solarium, surrounded by glass doors. Here you can sit or dine feeling like you are perched over the water, looking at panoramic views of the Bay, the sailboats and Mt. Tamalpais. The solarium is connected the living room via four large sliding doors, which can be opened all the way to make it an extension of the living room.

The carpeted master bedroom features a new, California King bed. Water level views allow you a birds eye connection with the egrets, mallards and harbor seals. Large walk-in closets add to the feeling of luxury. The expansive master bathroom also has bay views and and a tub and walk-in shower.

Down below, the other two bedrooms also have views right above waterline, where seals and waterfowl can swim up and eyeball you.

The kitchen has been remodeled with a an extraordinary Wolf six-burner range, with a gas grill and huge oven. The set up is perfect for gourmet meals or reheating your leftovers from one of the many excellent local restaurants. The kitchen is abundantly stocked with all the necessary pots, pans, utensils and appliances. There is a full table setting for 10 and uncharacteristically for a rental, all the knives have been freshly sharpened.

The float containing all watercraft is right off the back deck, providing easy access to the three kayaks and three stand-up paddle boards.

The Ferry is conveniently located between the natural beauty of the northern coast and the cosmopolitan charms of San Francisco. You can attend almost any event in the City and be home at the Ferry before you would find a parking place in San Francisco. A small library adjacent to the kitchen is stocked with and iPad and with books and tip and local attractions. The Ferry has high speed wireless. For water activities, the home is also supplied with a rowboat, two kayaks and two stand-up paddle boards. Surfboards, boogie boards and fins are also available.

There are an infinite variety of diversions to be found within a 30-minute drive of the boat. But often the best thing to do is simply sit by the bay with a good book, occasionally looking up to see the harbor seals or migrating waterfowl.

The Ferry is owned by the same couple who own the harbor. We live on the Ferry as well, in a completely separate unit with its own entrance and can be there to assist with any of your questions.

Please be aware that when then you stay on a houseboat, you are a guest in a close-knit community of fellow house boaters. These homeowners have chosen to live on the water because of a shared love of nature and a considerate community. It is essential that you respect the community rights to peace and privacy and conduct your residency the same, as you would expect from a next-door neighbor.

One other caveat. The ferry is reserved for registered guests and overnight usage. We regret it is not available as an event space for weddings or other large gatherings.

Guest access
The entire three bedroom house is accessible. The roof of the Ferry is off-limits as it makes leaks if you walk on the roof. Also it is not a good idea to swan dive at low tide.

Other things to note
It is a good idea to have a car. Public transportation, except for the ferry to SF is not great. But we are a ten minute drive to the city and it is very easy to get around in a car. Also a car is useful for going to the coast or the wine country.
