Rent your own 1 bedroom cottage in back of a cute house in Albany. The cottage has been completely renovated with new kitchen cabinets, granite, completely new faux finish walls with vaulted ceilings. COMES WITH IT'S OWN PRIVATE BATHROOM, Kitchen is stocked with a coffee maker, coffee and filters, microwave, condiments and lots of pots and pans and silverware and plates if you like to cook. The cottage is very quiet and cozy with a view of the backyard with exotic plants and a pond with a fountain. Access is through the side of the house on a level path tiled with terra cotta tiles. There is Internet access and also a 46-inch flat screen high-definition TV with a Roku with access to many movies and tv shows as well as a free Netflix and Amazon subscription.
The neighborhood is quiet and extremely safe, yet half a block away is Solano ave which is major street in Albany and Berkeley has dozens of international restaurants and shops of many descriptions. There is an extensive bus system on Solano and the subway or BART has a station ten to fifteen minutes' walk from the house.
The cottage is located in the backyard and is completely separate from the house in which I live. Yet close enough to the main house that excessive outdoor noise can be a problem. The backyard is beautiful, and I will probably be using it a lot during the summer. The deck in front of the cottage is designated for guests. The deck on the side is for residents of the main house. People really seem to like this place as it is spacious and beautifully designed.
The cottage sleeps two in a full size bed in the bedroom which is fairly small. The bathroom stands between the bedroom and the living room so please take note of that. There are sliding glass doors in the bedroom so it can easily be aired although there is a fence for privacy on the other side of the sliding doors. The sofa in the living room folds out to make another full size but very comfortable bed. For those brave enough to climb up a ladder there is also a loft that contains a full-size bed. There is even a twin size foam futon which can accommodate one more person so the cottage could accommodate seven people if two occupied the bedroom, two slept on the couch, two in the loft and one on the futon. But please note: the more people the more crowded it can get as the entire space is about 450 square feet. It will seem crowded if there are more than three people and yet it can accommodate up to seven.
There is only street parking but in Albany that is never a problem although beware of street sweeping on the east side of the street every third Wednesday and on the west side every fourth Wednesday.
Comes with two coupons for free appetizers worth $18 each at a local restaurant called skates on the Bay with a beautiful bay view.

Several guests have mentioned something it's fair to warn prospective guests about. Albany is a small town with small houses and the distance between the cottage and the main house is not very far. People might be using the backyard which borders on the cottage so if you want a place that is remote and private this might not be right for you.

- "The only two things that I would mention as a negative, is, one, as far as dog friendly, just know the yard is not conducive to taking your dog out for a bathroom break! You will need to walk down the block! With Poop bags, which not everyone uses! And two, the kitchen drawers and under the sink, and the floor between the fridge and counter’s could use a good cleaning! But, that being said, the important things were spotless! Ie, the bathroom and floors and counters! Maybe some fresh white towels and sheets and pillow protectors would be nice! The place has an eclectic charm that I appreciate! I’m not one for the institutional look! I walked everywhere and felt very safe, in the unit and outside of it!"

We are not entrepreneurs. We are an elderly couple who are just trying to make ends meet by renting out the front apartment of our two apartment duplex.
When you arrive at the apartment, you will find everything you could possible want, so you can relax after your trip: Cup of lovely tea or frothy cappuccino? Glass of wine? Sparkling water? Snacks? We live in the back apartment of the duplex so we are readily available for any of your ongoing needs. Please just call or text and we will be at your disposal.

Please note that the City of Berkeley charges a 14% tax for short term rentals. If you rent the apartment for fewer than 14 nights, the tax is built into the charge that we pay directly to the city. There is no tax for longer stays.

There is no parking available on property, but there is street parking available. Free parking is allowed for two hours between 9:00am and 5:00pm (if you do not have an area sticker).

Parking starts being monitored at 8:00am and is monitored until 7:00pm, so you can keep it parked from 5:00pm until 10:00am without a problem. Please note though, that there are meter maids mark car tires to track how long they've been parked, so be sure to not be parked for more than two hours during the posted times (9:00am-5:00pm).

This is a ground-level apartment with its own entrance in the Westbrae district in West Berkeley. We are near the intersection of Cedar, Hopkins and San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley. There is on-street free parking.

This apartment is ideal for a couple, a couple of friends, or a small family or three adults for short stays. There is a double bed in the bedroom and a double sofa-bed in the living room. We can also make available a single cot.

The bedroom and living room are separated by a double pocket door, which allows the option of a large open space or privacy.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, microwave, , toaster oven and toaster, and a two-burner electric induction cooker. You also have an electric kettle, drip filter coffee maker, French press and a coffee grinder.

A beautiful, large & bright studio with its own kitchenette, eating area, desk, large walk-in closet, and a sitting area with TV. It's a short drive to the UC Campus, Berkeley, and Oakland, and only 45 minutes to SF via Bus/BART & 3 bus lines are less than 5 min away (7, 67, H). Just steps away, you'll find some of the best views of the Bay, our favorite wine shop in the East Bay, delicious cafes & restaurants, and a grocery shop.

You have full access to the studio apartment with a separate entrance. In coordination with us, we can provide regular access to our washer and dryer.

Other things to note
We have two young children (ages 9 and 6). The studio is below our kitchen, so in the mornings and evenings you might hear us a bit. We are very conscientious of our guests, and try to keep the noise to a minimum, but if you are very noise sensitive, this might not be your best option. Also, we have a dog, who we keep on leash when we let her out and guests are home. If you have any concerns about the noise or our dog, please ask us in your message.
The TV has access to a Netflix account for free streaming and an over-the-air antenna for local channels (no cable). Additionally, you can add your personal Amazon account for prime streaming.

It is very important to note the parking signs on the street, as they provide information specific to that area, not only time limits but also street sweeping times, etc.

Cozy and private basement apartment with plenty of light in the heart of the lovely walkable Westbrae neighborhood. Just a mile from North Berkeley Bart, and a very short walk to Whole Foods, Headlands Biergarten, Solano Avenue, and much more. Our family lives in the house above, but the suite has its own full kitchen, bath and bedroom. Guests are free to enjoy the quiet back patio and garden. Separate access to the apartment is through the rear yard and our shared laundry room.

We live in the house above the apartment and try our best to be quiet but you might here us a little and vice versa. We hope that’s ok! We have a cat and a dog. The dog is a friendly goldendoodle and he uses the backyard; the cat spends time in the laundry room. Please let us know if that’s an issue and we will see if we can accommodate.

A lovely landmarked property in the convenient and desirable Gourmet Ghetto neighborhood of North Berkeley. Just steps to local shops, restaurants, farmer's market and public transportation. The property is 1/2 mile from UC Berkeley, perfect for visitors to the University. The original architectural details, the lush garden, and the location make this an ideal home away from home.

Our property contains our landmarked 1885 Victorian home and three stand-alone 1920's cottages. This listing is for a private ONE BEDROOM INLAW in the back of the main house.

The Inlaw unit is bright, sunny and modern. It is in a historic home (built in 1885, but it is a 1990s renovation). There is one bedroom (with a queen size bed, a dresser and a closet), a living room (with a queen size futon, a desk, and a chair), a large modern bathroom (with a shower no tub), and a small kitchen (with a fridge, stovetop, microwave, toaster oven, bar seating, and other kitchen basics).

The apartment is around the back of the main house up a flight of outdoor stairs. The private entrance to your unit also has a small deck that overlooks the garden (with garden seating).

The inlaw is private for your use, but there are other residents that use the shared space on the property, including the garden and laundry room. This kitchen of this unit also shares a wall with the kitchen of another unit. There is good soundproofing, but we ask folks in both spaces to be respectful.

The rate includes all utilities (gas, electric, water, garbage, wireless internet) and full furnishings (all furniture, sheets, towels, pots, pans, etc.) All units have access to (coin-operated) laundry and shared outdoor space on the property. A car is not necessary as we are in walking distance to (shopping, UC Berkeley, farmer's market, BART). Parking is street parking - folks who do want a car usually park ~3 blocks away, where there are no permits required. Parking immediately in front of the house requires a city permit - please let us know if you want more information about city parking permits.
