The Space:

This beautifully decorated room is comfortable and very quiet. Features include a California King bed, a cozy reading chair, a desk for those needing to work during their stay, and a flatscreen TV with cable and high speed Internet access. The bedroom also features a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a tea kettle. While staying with us, you'll have your own private full-bath located next to your room.

This flat is newly renovated and includes a full kitchen, completely equipped with granite counter tops, microwave, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The bedroom has Bay views, with a queen-size bed. The living room/dining room has stunning views of the bay, a large deck, television and gas fireplace. New wood floors were recently installed. Includes washer/dryer. A sofa bed in the living room accommodates additional guests. It is also possible to open up an additional bedroom for occasional visitors. We are not entrepreneurs. We are an elderly couple who are just trying to make ends meet by renting out the front apartment of our two apartment duplex.
When you arrive at the apartment, you will find everything you could possible want, so you can relax after your trip: Cup of lovely tea or frothy cappuccino? Glass of wine? Sparkling water? Snacks? Yes, we have all that covered for you! Be sure to check out the great (if I say so myself) photos and video of the apartment.

We live in the back apartment of the duplex so we are readily available for any of your ongoing needs. Please just call or text and we will be at your disposal.

Please note that the City of Berkeley charges a 14% tax for short term rentals. If you rent the apartment for fewer than 14 nights, the tax is built into the charge that we pay directly to the city. There is no tax for longer stays.

This pleasant bungalow near downtown Berkeley is located on a quiet street and can accommodate up to four guests if two of them use the queen size fold out sofa in the room off the kitchen.

The Colonel sits in a newly landscaped yard with its own entrance. - "This place was super cute, comfortable and cozy. Everything worked and the host had great instructions. The kitchen was well-stocked. We especially loved the backyard space, which was so peaceful at night with the lights. I looked up the main house and saw that it had a no party/event policy - despite this, our neighbors had guests over on July 5, and the noise was triggering for our dog. Ultimately, we enjoyed our stay and would love to return, but wanted to flag this as a possible point for improvement."

The Neighborhood

The condo is in Berkeley's Fourth Street district, full of delightful shops, eateries and street life— and the Berkeley Apple Store. (It's particularly festive in holiday season, with spectacular lighting at night!) Also mere blocks from the freeway to San Francisco or the Wine Country, and University Ave. leading up to campus. But when you come back home, you'll close the gate on all that commotion and find yourself in a tranquil garden with fish and flora, and a beautifully furnished, warm bi-level apartment.

Please note that this area is also within hearing range of passing trains. We now supply earplugs for light sleepers, and an Ecotonic adaptive sleep sounds machine for those who are bothered by the train noise.

This 2100 sq. ft townhouse sits on a quiet 4-block street a few minutes walk north of the UC Berkeley campus. The first floor has a modern eat-in kitchen, large DR and LR with fireplace, a large back deck with private gardens and a large front deck for grilling, eating and watching sunsets over SF, the Bay and GG bridges, Alcatraz and Angel Island. There are a half-bath and washer and dryer on first floor. The second floor has two bedrooms with queen beds, 2 full baths, a TV and reading room, and a large study with couch, rockers, desk space for 2 and killer views of the bay and Campanile. With windows on 3 sides and large skylights it is very light and sunny. There is a garage with a digital piano, erg machine, elliptical and weights. There is sufficient off-street parking for 2 vehicles. There is a bus stop half a block away, and you can walk to BART in 18 minutes. There are 25 steps up from the street but they are broad, with railings, and well lit.

Utilities are included, specifically broadband internet, water, sewer, gas and electric (we have rooftop solar). Available starting June 15 until Sept 30. Minimum of 1 month rental preferred. Significant discount if you rent for 3 months.

We are under drought conditions as we didn’t have our normal rainfall. We practice water conservation in our daily lives, i.e., short showers. A washing machine and dryer are available, but ask for instructions first. Hang drying is preferable and quicker. We do compost the kitchen food scraps and recycle plastic, metal containers and paper products.

Will currently ONLY accept guests who received both CoVid19 vaccines, and will wear a good mask whenever they enter or leave through our common living areas.

Me and my husband and son live downstairs too. We keep our house clean, but, no, it is not pristine! If you are looking for a pristine commercial Airbnb, this may not be for you. This house is conveniently located, right in the middle of Berkeley. This little mini space has everything you need, all in a compact little space. It has a full kitchen, kitchen table, twin bed,tv and small bathroom, with shower. It is warm and cozy. Great to snuggle with a good book. It comes with tea and coffee and a fully equipped mini kitchen. Another thing to note is that the house has multiple units, so there are other people coming and going.

There is no parking available on property, but there is street parking available. Free parking is allowed for two hours between 9:00am and 5:00pm (if you do not have an area sticker).

Parking starts being monitored at 8:00am and is monitored until 7:00pm, so you can keep it parked from 5:00pm until 10:00am without a problem. Please note though, that there are meter maids mark car tires to track how long they've been parked, so be sure to not be parked for more than two hours during the posted times (9:00am-5:00pm).

The house is 10 minutes away by car from UC Berkeley campus and downtown Berkeley. It has very easy freeway access to anywhere in the Bay Area from Oakland to San Francisco. There's Uber service in the area and you can take Uber Pool to San Francisco for as low as 15$, or you can take Uber to downtown Berkeley and take the BART to San Francisco. The house is also very close to Rockridge/Elmwood area where you can find lovely shops and restaurants. There is also the famous Claremont Hotel where you can enjoy a great spa.

We have a dedicated parking spot behind the house. The room has its own mini-split heating and cooling system (air conditioning).

We strive to provide a pleasant stay for our guests and keep our rates low by providing comfortable basics. Our apartments are not luxury accommodations and the sheets and towels are Target-brand. The furniture is basic quality, Target/ Walmart/ Ikea-equivalent. We also accept pets so if finding pet hair would upset you, or if anyone in your group has allergies, a different Airbnb would be best.

All older buildings require maintenance and we always work quickly with guests to correct issues that come up. If it would upset you to work through maintenance issues together, for your stress levels and ours, please book a newer building. Guests looking for space on a budget who are self-sufficient and communicate well have the best experience staying with us. Guests looking for a higher-end experience would be happier elsewhere.

We do our best to provide clean apartments but there have been cleaning issues from time to time. It's difficult to find cleaners in this area who will clean at a fee guests are comfortable paying. Cleaning quotes for a single apartment run from $100 to $325+. If there are cleaning issues, we always work quickly with guests to correct but if it would upset you to work through these things together, it would be best that you book elsewhere.

The quality of our apartments is similar to a Best Western, Extended Stay, or Comfort Suites and our prices reflect this. If you wouldn't stay in these chains, or if you prefer a Hilton or Marriott, there are higher-end Airbnb options available so please book with them.

We take great care in screening our guests to ensure it is in safe hands. Please leave a message with details of who you are, reason for the visit, and who will be accompanying you, in addition to any details you think would be helpful for us to know. If you leave a short message without detail, we probably won't be able to accommodate. Price is fixed—Airbnb is great in that there are plenty of options to fit everyone's budget! Lastly, we are a husband and wife team managing the property. We are here should guests need anything but we are extremely busy with four young kids and full-time jobs so if you anticipate needing a lot of correspondence or assistance, we unfortunately won't be able to accommodate.

* This is an apartment in a shared multi-unit building. You may hear footsteps/ voices in units next to, above, or below, you. There are also pets on the property so there may be barking from time to time.
* All of our bookings are longer stays for 30+ days. Guests replenish their own paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc.
* This is a self check-in/ self check-out apartment. Instructions will be sent day of check-in.
* You will coordinate with the other roommate in this person on cleaning and any other shared responsibilities as you would in any other co-living situation
* This is an urban environment with its fair share of crime. Please by aware of your surroundings when you're out and about.
* Check in is anytime starting at 3pm, with a 10 am check out. Please leave the place as you found it and send us a quick text that you’ve checked out.
* Pet policy: We accept dogs under 40 lbs, unfortunately no cats due to the damage their urine can cause to flooring. Dogs are an additional $50 per month and a $300 refundable deposit.
* No parties or unaccounted for guests
* Off-street parking is available for $60/ month and is subject to availability.
* A lease will be sent through Docusign after booking and ID is required

This apartment is on the third floor and has no elevator. Please be comfortable climbing stairs to/ from street-level on a daily basis.
