The 12 foot ceilings combined with the 15 inches of crown molding finish this historic home nicely. This charming Bungalow is within walking distance to the Sonoma Plaza (3 blocks), the house also comes with 4 bikes for your enjoyment to pedal to the nearby wineries or other site seeing around Sonoma. The front covered porch is an excellent spot to relax in the rocking chairs. The well landscaped rear patio has a gas BBQ, patio dining along with a very private Hot Tub. PLEASE NOTE: Due to Sonoma City Ordinance, the Hot Tub and rear patio is not available for use after 10 pm.

The House. We call it a Cottage but it’s really a full house, with two bedrooms, two baths, gourmet kitchen, private garden and hot tub. It’s a great place to share with friends, family, or just that someone special!

Come enjoy this brand new 2 bedroom 2 bath retreat in the Carneros region of Sonoma for your wine country escape. Bastide du Lavandin (The Lavender Cottage) combines French country elegance and spaciousness to create a welcoming, light filled home for your wine country stay.
Bastide was designed to take advantage of the unique landscape of this property and similar to old style French houses it has exposed wood beams, high ceilings and dormer windows to bring in the exquisite light.

BASTIDE DU LAVANDIN:
Bastide has a generous open grand room with 18 foot cathedral ceilings with dormer windows providing light throughout the main room. The modern gourmet kitchen with spacious island, extensive dining room and living room area all mesh together - the perfect place to hang out. All the kitchen appliances are brand new and the island is large enough for a cooking demonstration for your group. Ample cabinet and pantry space leads to the separate laundry room, which has a full sized stand up washer and dryer for your use.

The furniture is contemporary Restoration Hardware designed furniture, which provides a farm house style feel.
Both bedrooms, which are on the same side of the house, have a queen-sized bed and the large windows provide great light into each of them. The master bedroom has a large walk in closet and each bathroom has its own walk in shower. (The master also has an outdoor shower for your enjoyment).

With a large stone clad gas fireplace and living area that opens through French doors to the outside area, the space is perfect inside/outside experience. The house has AC throughout.

There is a large Flat screen TV above the fireplace with Netflix access and high speed Wifi as well.

On the back patio, there is a large dining table which seats 8. Nearby is a 3-burner Weber Genesis propane grill for your grilling pleasure. The back area is dominated by the view of a combination hot tub & swimming pool. The pool is mid 70s in the summer but is "refreshing" the rest of the year. Eg NOT heated. At one end of the pool are 2 lounge chairs to tan on and on the other end is a poolside fire pit for your evening enjoyment with your family and friends.
Just past the pool is the lawn area that is perfect for a game of cornhole! And in the distance is a view of the south end of the Mayacama range separating Sonoma and Napa Valley.
The house sits hidden behind a gated entrance and large oak trees providing privacy from the road. At the end of the meandering driveway is a flat parking area, which has parking for up to 3 cars.

There is an alarm clock w USB charging capability in each bedroom and a multiple USB charging station in the pantry room.

PLEASE NOTE:
Pets would compete with squirrels and native birds (we have beautiful bluebirds and hawks) so pets are not allowed. We do have jackrabbits running around on the property and an occasional deer or even coyote!

This house was built for a relaxing adult experience so WE DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN. (There is a firepit, slippery tiles around the hot tub, that would be a risk.) Families should be aware that the pool is NOT gated NOR HEATED.

EVENTS are not allowed on the property (eg weddings, etc)

No smoking is allowed inside or outside the house.

Our owners contract that we ask you to sign before using the house has a waiver of liability.

The home guide in the house contains a list of fabulous local menus/interesting things to do in the area. Please leave it for the next guests enjoyment as well.

To rent Bastide you must be at least 25 years old and able to provide a photo id upon request.

Located just 45 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge it is within easy striking distance to San Francisco. It is about 1 and 1/2 hours from either the SF or Oakland Airport (depending on traffic), and only 45 minutes from the Santa Rosa Regional Airport.

Bastide du Lavandin is in a great location and provides easy access to both Sonoma and Napa wineries and activities. Carneros is the closest wine region to SF and 2nd oldest center of wine production in CA, spanning both Sonoma and Napa counties. We are just 8 minutes from Sonoma Square and about 14 minutes from downtown Napa.

We are located just minutes from a diverse offering of wines at distinguished wineries such as Gunlauch Bundshau (Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay), Domaine Carneros (Champagne) , and acclaimed Patz and Hall (Pinot/Chardonnay). We’ll be renting this perfect property again!" - "We were a group of 6 (4 adults, 2 teenagers) visiting Sonoma for a week and we really enjoyed our stay at the property. As others have noted, there is plenty of room, both inside and outside the house. We cooked multiple times and found the kitchen to be really well equipped. We visited during a cold spell, but we were able to find extra blankets (and the Nest thermostat kept the temperature at a comfortable level). There were even food and water bowls for our dog! Overall, this felt like a cozy and comfortable home, rather than a bland rental property. The location - on a quiet residential street, near a high school and a walking trail - was ideal for us, allowing the kids to kick a ball around on the high school fields and the adults to take dog walks. It was convenient to get to the plaza, without being too close. Finally, the check-in process was easy and communication with the owner and property manager was simple. The owner even encouraged us to pick some lemons from the tree in the back before we left. Hopefully, we'll be back some time in the near future!"

Each spacious bedroom offers an en-suite with its own bathroom, closet, and thermostat to control your own temperature within the room.

Equipped with 2 55 Inch SMART TVs and WiFi, you get access to apps such as Netflix and Amazon for your quiet enjoyment.

Other things to note
Per the STR regulations, there is no amplified sound allowed outdoors. QUIET HOURS are from 9PM-7AM. Any noise complaint during your stay will result in a $1,500 citation payable via the Resolution Center. Loud noise or parties will result in immediate eviction without refund.

Only DISCLOSED number of guests are allowed into the property. We don't allow additional guests that are not part of the reservation. We also do not allow visitors that are not pre-disclosed to us prior to their visit.

By booking you agree that, there will be no unannounced guests other than the number of guests you have on your reservation and there will be no visitors during your stay.

Additional guests after 6 people or pets would require an extra charge of $40 per head on the nightly rate due to the usage and wear & tear on the home. Penalty for each unannounced guest or pet not disclosed prior to the stay is $80 per head (2x the normal charge).

ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING, VAPING, OR DRUGS ALLOWED AT THIS HOME! This will result in a fine of $500 or more, payable via the Resolution Center.

Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the entire home and outdoor areas during their stay. That includes the backyard deck, hot tub, and garden spaces. There is no garage access, but there is enough parking in front of the house but there is no street parking.

Located down a quiet private lane next to a local middle school, the home offers both privacy and easy access to Sonoma’s best offerings. Wineries, restaurants, local parks, and charming towns like Glen Ellen and Napa are all within a short drive. Nestled on an acre of land in Sonoma Old Wine Country you’ll enjoy scenic views of vineyards, mountains and a babbling creek. My home is a shared space where the Host lives. However, I’m typically gone days at a time due to my work schedule. The space
Natural light abounds throughout this newly built home. Enter at the side into an open concept living, dining, kitchen space with vaulted ceiling and multiple skylights.

Make yourself at home among furnishings and art gathered from near and far during travels in the US and internationally.

If the kitchen is your place, look no further. Every cooking, serving and entertaining tool imaginable can be found within the multitude of cabinets. Help yourself to spices, vinegars, oils, baking ingredients and then some! Four bar stools permit seating facing into the kitchen, and a contemporary glass dining table for six may be used for more formal meals.

From the main living area, the master with en suite can be located at the left end of the home. Appointed with a new king bed and all new bedding, rest easy with shades that ward off morning light. Step into the bath area, passing a walk-in closet to the right, double sinks and plenty of cabinet space to store your toiletries. A tiled shower with rain-shower head includes shampoo, conditioner and liquid bath soap. All towels and cloths are new and for guests only.

Exit the master and pass back through the living space to find a second secluded bedroom on the opposite end of the home and to the right. With a new queen bed, and linens, this room is slightly more eclectic with a mixed modern and antique motif. A second full bath is adjacent to this room, again with a rain-shower head, single sink and toiletries for your convenience.

If the outdoors is what makes you happy, take your morning coffee, home-cooked meal or evening wine out to the patio and gardens at the front of the home. Enjoy the rhythmic sound of the water fountain and musical lilt of song birds ~ let the stress of life just melt away. Guests may use the outdoor heater and charcoal grill.

Parking for one car is available in front of the home, parallel to the redwood fence which provides privacy for the garden area.

We are an easy hop by car to Sonoma plaza, the historic area of Sonoma that features great restaurants, shops and tasting rooms.

There’s a locked, sound-insulated door between your space and ours. We do have two dogs who may bark occasionally during the day, but they’re usually quiet at night. From time to time, you might hear our voices in the house, so if you’re very sensitive to noise, our place may not be the best fit. Quiet hours are from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am, and we appreciate guests observing them as we do.

Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll send you a personal door code for easy self-check-in. The side path to your unit can be a little tricky in the dark—even with the lighting we provide—so we recommend bringing a flashlight or using your phone’s light if you arrive at night.

THE SPACE - You will be staying on a historic family homestead along one of the first stagecoach routes which ran from the East into Sonoma in the 1850’s. Centrally located in the famed Sonoma Valley viticulture region, you’ll have access to myriad wonders, right at your back door! Located at the junction of Napa Road and the Carneros Highway 12/121 you'll have easy access to the historic Sonoma Square (5½ miles), downtown Napa (9 miles), and dozens of world class wineries and tasting rooms - including two of the oldest wineries in the state!

The Bunkhouse, originally built in the 1850’s, expanded in the 1980’s, is a quirky private residence on Ramona Nicholson's Ranch, where afternoon twilight shines through the southern exposed windows and patio door onto native rough-hewn wall paneling and the terra cotta Saltillo tiled floor. Rustic and richly golden tongue-in-groove knotty pine vaulted ceilings built by the patriarch of the family compose the structure above you. The gentle night breeze will relax you into a deep slumber upon rich bed linens in the upper loft.

Cook in the well-stocked kitchen inside or on the gas grill out on the multi-tiered patio. The kitchen comes equipped with fridge, stove, microwave, coffee pot, salt, pepper, sugar, cooking oil and an assortment of spices. Eat at the counter or the 4th generation family table. A comfy sleeper couch and chair face the wall mounted TV.

The "suite" is separated from the house by a locked door, so the space is fully private. We do have a small dog (Huston) who likes being in charge. He is fenced in our yard or in the house at all times.

Many people come to this area to enjoy and/or learn about wine. While we know little about wine, we are fortunate to have a daughter who is quite knowledgeable and able to share information and answer questions. The space
Beautifully and lovingly renovated mid century modern home, detached yoga studio and beautifully furnished decor. Our home is meticulously maintained to provide a pristine, peaceful experience. A modern oasis to greet and inspire you to relax and just 'be'. Walk to The Plaza, grocery, hospital, shops and restaurants.

OUR LIVING PHILOSOPHY: We try to be very responsible when it comes to protecting ourselves and the earth. Our home is a "shoes at the door" experience. Therefore we do ask that our guests remove their shoes while in the house. We are adamant believers in composting/recycling and we do everything we can to save water. Our home Nest thermostat will sense when you are away and shut off. It will then sense when you come into the house and turn back on. It works quickly and "cranking" it up will not make it heat or cool faster. It does not run during the night. We have replaced most of the interior light fixtures with ceiling fans and installed a ceiling fan in the outdoor pergola. Our kitchen garden is available for guest harvesting and is complete with organic fruits, vegetables and herbs.

A/C: If you are use to using air conditioning constantly, our home will not be a comfortable fit for you. The A/C (and heat) is on a smart thermostat that senses when you are out of the house or sleeping, and will shut off. Our a/c unit is sized to "assist" the inside temperature, not cool it down several degrees. Sonoma has "valley" weather meaning that it may be warm during the day, but will cool down 30-40 degrees in the evening. This is when the night air is helpful to cool the house with the windows open. The house won't cool down unless the windows are open during the evening hours. Please contact us if you'd like further detail and explanation.

SECURITY CAMERAS: they are on the exterior of the house for added safety and comfort, and are an additional benefit and amenity. Please know that the cameras do not point at your living space so your privacy is not compromised. Also, note there are no interior security cameras.

We like to communicate with our guests prior to and during their stay. And we prefer to meet our guests initially to show them around. However, we will give them their privacy but will be accessible for questions and needs.

You are in arguably the best wine territory in the world. Visit wineries and see how they create. Talk with the winemakers. Learn, taste, and buy the best only minutes from the house. The Plaza is bordered by (and occupied by) historical buildings that ask you to imagine the past. Shop and explore between meals. Play by day, relax in the evening. Stroll to dinner and back or dine in your own backyard patio with locally grown food. Cook what you love in the comfort of the kitchen with a view. Stare out at the hummingbirds on the patio, past the umbrella and tiered fountain to the professionally landscaped back yard, and to the hills and Sonoma Mountain beyond.

A pet may be considered. If approved, the pet is never to be left alone in the unit. The pet will be required to be with its owner at all times during the stay. Thank you for your compliance.

We are offering our home on a 30-day minimum basis for those folks that are moving to the area and need a home for a while, or for those locals that might be renovating and need a lovely place to stay during their construction. Or simply a long-term vacation.
Wi-fi, Smart TV to log into your own app account, fully appointed kitchen, new quartz countertops with new stainless steel tub sink and new stainless steel appliances, central heating, refurbished gorgeous hardwood floors, covered porch to watch the sunset; secure, super clean. Guests will have access to the washer and dryer and outdoor eating area. The front and back yards have been professionally landscaped. The backyard includes a dining pergola with lighted ceiling fan, fountain, redwood trees, kitchen garden, and small vineyard.

Other things to note
We are aware of the fragile condition of the planet and we do our part to use organic products, use less of everything, and have as small an impact as we can. We encourage you to do so as well.
We offer central gas heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans and cool evening breezes in the summertime. The breezes are our personal favorite. The backyard has a pergola with ceiling fan and gorgeous lighting for your outdoor evening dining and lounging pleasure.
To add to our environmental thoughtfulness, we use a smart thermostat. This is preset to reduce use at night and when you leave the house for any extended periods of time. The savings we get from this feature is built into the low nightly rate. We thank you for being thoughtful when using resources.

County of Sonoma Vacation Rental Permit number ZPE15-0201. Our place is centrally located to both the Napa and Sonoma valleys. We are walking distance to Endiku Winery, Ceja Winery, Homewood Winery, Lou's Lunchette, and Hanson's Vodka. We have a small organic farm off the beaten path. The unit is upstairs above the garage, and it is very private.
We have some wonderful birdwatching opportunities. On our farm we see herons, egrets, quail, redtail hawks, owls, quail, and many small birds.

The space
The apartment is a 400 square foot studio with a partial wall between the sleeping area and the living area. There is a full kitchen, full bath, and convertible sofa. It is above the garage so there is a 360 of the surrounding farms and vineyards. At night, when it is clear, you can see all the way to the East Bay. It is an upstairs unit.
We offer self-check-in and check-out.
We have some farm animals on the property, mostly sheep, chickens, and one rooster. We supply earplugs.
Occasionally, we have one family camping in the backyard but this will not affect you at all.

Guest access
In addition to the apartment, our guests have access to the grounds, front porch, and multiple seating areas. Visiting the farm animals is encouraged.
