When you enter our "Elegant Barn" you will know that you have chosen the perfect space for your Sonoma County wine vacation! The lovely 2-story barn cottage is newly built with both comfort and style in mind. The location is perfect for a wine country vacation. Located on a 3 acre vineyard property surrounded by wineries and open sheep and goat pastures and easy walking, bike riding and driving to many of Healdsburg's best wineries. But still around only a mile away from downtown with it's many tasting rooms and famous restaurants! The space is sunny and light-drenched with windows that boast views of surrounding vineyards and sheep farms. Hardwood floors, wooden beams, tiled-in showers are some of features of this custom-built cottage. Upstairs has one bedroom with walk-in closet, a pull out sofa bed in the living room, large bathroom with walk-in shower and a living room floor-to-ceiling convertible glass doors that open onto the large deck are some of it's many appealing features. Downstairs has a separate detached room with comfy queen bed and an attached full bathroom and sitting area, and coffee station and mini-fridge. The upstairs deck is a luxury on it's own account. The large wrap-around deck is where you are bound to spend much of your time! It has comfy outdoor couches, an outdoor dining table, lounge chairs and even a private HOT TUB! All with views of the surrounding vineyards and sheep pastures. We are even pet friendly and provide guests with a small fenced yard for Fido to relax in (pets must be supervised at all times while in the yard). We care about the environment! Our entire property is solar powered and we even provide guests with a Tesla charging station for their stay. There is a 2-car garage for parking and ample driveway parking as well. This is a perfect spot for up to four adults who seek a restorative, restful experience of being pampered by nature, night skies, and a chance to be away in a wonderful small town known for wine, food, art, and outdoor life. Our home is designed for low-environmental impact. It is solar-supported, with new double-pane windows, energy-efficient air conditioning, heat, and appliances, screened windows allow in cooling evening breezes.
No matter the season, our home is easy to be outside or in. Two decks, one facing the woods across the narrow lane and shaded by a large oak, and the other on the two-story-high southeast side looking to the hills and high meadows across the Russian river. Osprey, egrets, herons and other fishing birds can be seen on their patrols up and down the river.
We are a 5-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride (BYOB), or take a leisurely 20-30 minute walk through the neighborhoods to the Healdsburg Plaza, perfect for wine tasting and enjoying world-class restaurants. In summer we have two Farmers Markets for local produce and products--Saturday 9-noon and Tuesday in the Plaza, 9-noon. There are local bookstores, bakeries, coffee houses, art galleries and retail shops for jewelry, fine clothing and kitchen wares.
Bright and clean open-plan, single-story home with all new furnishings: two queen bedrooms, (east and west) each with a tv. East bedroom has a slider to the deck. Two full baths each with walk-in showers. Washer/Dryer is off the kitchen.
Relax in the living room and watch a movie or curl up with a book, sit on the stools at the counter and talk to the cook in the fully-equipped kitchen. Dining table seats 4 and has much of the 180-degree view! Living room has wall of windows with wide slider to the deck, a small gas grill, and places to sit, or stand and watch the fabulous scenery. High chairs for dining at the plank table with a string of festive lights overhead.
It's a very quiet neighborhood, excellent for resting and relaxing. People are friendly, but privacy is respected and the deep nature, the dark nights, and the serenity are the draws of staying on the mountain. We are among the houses along a narrow windy lane (far less grand than "Avenue" might suggest!); each home set a bit differently--most have been treasured for generations by families who came to Fitch Mountain for respites from city life. Step out the door along the lane and set off for beautiful walks, go explore the little trails and lanes that surround you in redwoods, century-old vacation cottages, wild flowers, mother and baby fawns and California oaks, bay, madrone, buckeye, and redwood. Birdlife abounds.

Cell phone service may be spotty in parts of the house for some carriers; we do have a landline phone and it is a 3 minute drive to our gate puts you back into full range for all.

The pool is heated by end of May through Sept, often we can heat in late April and early October but that is weather dependent. The spa is heated year round.

We keep only basic items in the kitchen - coffee filters, salt and pepper, spices, flour, sugar, olive oil. The fridge will be empty on arrival.

We are 8.3 miles from the Healdsburg town square. This drive takes about 18-20 minutes. The final road to our house is private and is paved for 1.5 miles, our "driveway" is a very well maintained rock rock and is about a 3 minute drive to the house from the entrance gate.

- "As previous reviewers have stated, this property is magical; well located, well appointed and beautiful views. In spite of the January rains which left the drive to the house somewhat uncomfortable, our hefty rental car took on the challenge and the owners were attentive to the situation. We learned to navigate the “stream only” tv service and for this couple of a certain age, we were proud of our accomplishment although we admit we never mastered access to national news stations and sports events. Oh well, more time to drink wine!! This property will definitely be added to the list of favorite places we have stayed in CA wine country."
