This flat is newly renovated and includes a full kitchen, completely equipped with granite counter tops, microwave, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The bedroom has Bay views, with a queen-size bed. The living room/dining room has stunning views of the bay, a large deck, television and gas fireplace. New wood floors were recently installed. We are not entrepreneurs. We are an elderly couple who are just trying to make ends meet by renting out the front apartment of our two apartment duplex.
When you arrive at the apartment, you will find everything you could possible want, so you can relax after your trip: Cup of lovely tea or frothy cappuccino? Glass of wine? Sparkling water? Snacks? It is conveniently located for all academic, business and travel needs; within 5-10 minutes walk from Downtown Berkeley, BART (underground train), bus lines, banks, the Post Office, grocery stores, the Berkeley Farmers Market and a multitude of restaurants with international cuisines. All bedroom doors and the bathroom door have been upgraded to solid core doors, which helps significantly with sound privacy.

There is street parking as well as a garage, but I have a car in the garage most of the time. I can let you use the garage exclusively for an extra $10/day rate so please inquire about that in advance.

This pleasant bungalow near downtown Berkeley is located on a quiet street and can accommodate up to four guests if two of them use the queen size fold out sofa in the room off the kitchen.
The remodeled kitchen is a nice place to enjoy meals and linger over coffee or a glass of wine. The claw foot bath tub has been replaced with a walk in shower that includes hand rails. On a warm day you can have lunch at the picnic table in the garden.
Since this is my primary residence, I only rent it when I travel.

The Colonel is a completely renovated 1965 Airstream Land Yacht Overlander. Colonel Marvin Teel was the original owner, hence the name. The Colonel sits in a newly landscaped yard with its own entrance. Located in the Westbrea/Gilman district - walking distance to Solano, Whole Foods, many restaurants and boutiques and less than a mile from BART. Would definitely stay again!" - "We stayed here with our dog to get away from the fireworks in San Francisco over the 4th of July, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations! The amenities and decor are all so thoughtfully laid out and had everything we needed. The Airstream is clean and cozy, and the bed was super comfy - it was great waking up feeling like we were camping! We also enjoyed using the pizza oven. Check-in and check-out were super easy. And the neighborhood was relatively quiet and peaceful, with so much good food and coffee in the vicinity. The only issue we had was privacy with the neighbors. Though the fence offered privacy from the outdoor area of the main house, there were two windows and a door of the main house that opened out onto the property that were not tinted or closed. During our stay, the people in the main house opened the windows and could see into our property, and we could hear them from the window. Several times, we saw people staring at us from the door, which was only partly covered, and this made us feel uncomfortable. I looked up the main house and saw that it had a no party/event policy - despite this, our neighbors had guests over on July 5, and the noise was triggering for our dog. Ultimately, we enjoyed our stay and would love to return, but wanted to flag this as a possible point for improvement."

Renter will sign a short term agreement covering Payment, Accommodation Rules, Maintenance, Indemnity and other details. Included are:
* Renter agrees to maintain kitchen hygiene and adhere to cleanliness rules as outlined by the Owner.
* Water is the number one cause of damage to a home. Be careful not to leave water on while away.
* Make sure all appliances are off before leaving the accommodation to prevent fires e.g. iron, hair blower, space heater, oven, stove.
* Trash/recycling pickup is Thursday morning by 8 AM. All trash (gray bin), recycling (blue bin) and compost (green bin) must fit in the outside bins in the driveway i.e. the lids must comfortably close, otherwise, there will be overflow of trash. Tenants are required to separate trash and recycling per the requirements of the Berkeley Recycling Guide (a copy of which will be provided by the Owner).
* Laundry is free to use. Do not overload the washer or dryer, as that can cause engine failure or fire. After each dryer use, clean the filter and throw away in the bin in the window near to the dryer.

- "This is a great apartment for a stay in a quiet residential neighborhood of Berkeley. The location is about as good as it gets - a short walk to multiple grocery stores, including an excellent market, and near restaurants and the Gourmet Ghetto. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, and there is free on-street parking. The apartment is in good shape, with lots of amenities. It's got good facilities for cooking, with a full kitchen setup, oven, stove, microwave, dishes and pots and cooking utensils provided, and a dining area and table well-suited for having company over. There's plenty of space and storage, and it comes fully furnished with tasteful mission-style furniture and little touches that make it pleasant to stay here. The hosts are gracious and welcoming. This would be a good place for a single or couple (bedroom has a queen bed) who want to spend some time in Berkeley."

Visit San Francisco by walking 7 minutes to the North Berkeley BART station, or take an excursion to University of California campus and downtown Berkeley via a direct bus stop, a 5-minute walk away. Or explore and shop around the neighborhood, a 15-minute walk will take you to ethnic shops and restaurants of Middle Eastern, Asian, North and South American tastes. Take a leisurely stroll along the quiet residential tree-lined streets, or venture westward 20 minutes to Berkeley’s uptown of boutique-lined shops at Fourth Street.

For over 20 years I've been a host to foreign exchange students coming to learn English and explore the greater bay area and SF. I love discovering and learning about new things, people and places. Friendships cultivated during these times offer wonderful travel exchanges.

Other things to note
We are under drought conditions as we didn’t have our normal rainfall. We practice water conservation in our daily lives, i.e., short showers. A washing machine and dryer are available, but ask for instructions first. Hang drying is preferable and quicker. We do compost the kitchen food scraps and recycle plastic, metal containers and paper products.

This bedroom is available as my daughter is currently in college. The bed is comfortable! There is some room in the closet for hanging clothes and on the shelves, but a bunch of her things are still there too.

Has been Licensed by the City (Zoning Permit No. ZCSTR2019-0019). The building has carbon monoxide monitors and smoke alarms.
Will currently ONLY accept guests who received both CoVid19 vaccines, and will wear a good mask whenever they enter or leave through our common living areas.

Me and my husband and son live downstairs too. We keep our house clean, but, no, it is not pristine! If you are looking for a pristine commercial Airbnb, this may not be for you. But if you are looking for a good value in a great neighborhood, with maybe some great conversation, and wonderful restaurants close by, we may be the pick place for you!

The space
This house is conveniently located, right in the middle of Berkeley. This little mini space has everything you need, all in a compact little space. It has a full kitchen, kitchen table, twin bed,tv and small bathroom, with shower. It is warm and cozy. Great to snuggle with a good book. It comes with tea and coffee and a fully equipped mini kitchen. Another thing to note is that the house has multiple units, so there are other people coming and going.

Please no smoking on the property and no fragrances.

There is no parking available on property, but there is street parking available. Free parking is allowed for two hours between 9:00am and 5:00pm (if you do not have an area sticker).

Parking starts being monitored at 8:00am and is monitored until 7:00pm, so you can keep it parked from 5:00pm until 10:00am without a problem. Please note though, that there are meter maids mark car tires to track how long they've been parked, so be sure to not be parked for more than two hours during the posted times (9:00am-5:00pm).

The house is 10 minutes away by car from UC Berkeley campus and downtown Berkeley. It has very easy freeway access to anywhere in the Bay Area from Oakland to San Francisco. There's Uber service in the area and you can take Uber Pool to San Francisco for as low as 15$, or you can take Uber to downtown Berkeley and take the BART to San Francisco. The house is also very close to Rockridge/Elmwood area where you can find lovely shops and restaurants. There is also the famous Claremont Hotel where you can enjoy a great spa.
