We checked in close to 9pm at the hotel restaurant as the front desk was closed. We missed out on some of the fine attractions of the hotel like the expansive sitting rooms in the main lodging building. Room was exactly as pictured. Plenty of space, nice lake view (the next morning when we got up), excellent breakfast buffet. The luxury beds were too soft for my liking. I get that they're meant to offer gentle conforming support, but I felt like more than one night might have not gone well for my back. Floors are very old wood, so they're noisy. More nice carpets like what was under the desk, over where we put our feet down at night would be a big improvement. We woke each other up trying to tiptoe to the bathroom in the night. Creak-creak! Also breakfast was delicious and the beds comfortable. " - "The two buildings of this hotel, 200 years ago was a mental hospital. That is history. Now that it’s a hotel, the rooms are absolutely old Swedish charming. I can only talk about my room, but everything in it was antique and beautiful and fit with the period. It was very quiet. In between the two buildings it’s a lovely, circular garden, and there are tables and chairs out in front of each building. This private house, at a fantastic location at Vadstena camping Vätterviksbadet is this cabin located with a small guest cabin next door. 50 meters below the house is Lake Vättern and you have a fantastic lake view with open surfaces. The lake is shallow with a sandy bottom and the beach is child-friendly. Vadstena Camping is a four-star holiday facility. The cabin is located a little bit beyond the campsite with scenic surroundings and a charming location. Both houses together have an area of 60 m2 and in the larger house there is a glazed terrace with dining area, kitchen, a combined living room with TV and sofas that can be made into 2 double beds. There´s also a WC with storage areas and the shower is located 50 meters from the house where you use your own key which is located in the accommodation. The guest cabin is nicely located close by, also with a lake view and a small balcony with chairs and table. There is a bunk bed and storage furniture. On the grounds there are several seating groups for the group and deckchairs, there is a grill and many places to enjoy the evening's dinner. There are 4 bikes available to use which are in storage. For those who wish, there are many activities in the area such as the nearby paddling course and fun things for the children. On sunny days pedal boats, canoes and sup are available for hire in the rental cabin below the restaurant. The area has a restaurant, pub and a service shop with freshly baked bread every morning. Vadstena is only 4 kilometers away, a creative history and a popular destination that welcomes many visitors.
