We are on 6 acres. There is a trail that follows the creek and crosses several bridges. It is over half a mile long and has a scavenger hunt. Lots of trees, deer, birds, and squirrels to watch.

Outdoor activities: horse game, ring toss, trail scavenger hunt, swings, fire pit, BBQ grill, and hammocks.

We have an outdoor fire pit and gathering area with hammock and swings for guests to enjoy. Guests are free to roam the property and access all common areas. Be respectful of other guest quarters and private property.

The sleeping arrangements consist of a queen size bed, futon, and blow up mattress. Inside we have an Alarm Clock / Radio, Games, TV, DVD player, DVDs, VHS, books, Full kitchen with toaster, microwave coffee maker and full-size refrigerator - Coffee and popcorn are provided.

Outside we offer a BBQ grill with charcoal and lighter fluid on the cabins back porch, a private picnic table area and seating.

Bedding is always changed out before new guests arrive.

Pets are welcome. There is a nonrefundable $25 pet fee per visit.

We are 15 minutes from Canton which has one of the world’s largest flea markets. Also, just 8 miles away from Texas Rose Horse Park. Plenty of fishing lakes, Lake Fork, Lake Palestine, Lake Tawakoni and Tyler State Park. Close Cities are LIndale, Tyler, Van, Canton, Edom, Hideaway, Mineola and Gladewater (antique capitol of Texas).

The cabin itself sits on a flat, well kept, grassy field and the property around it has trees but the immediate area around the cabin is a clear field. If you’re into astronomy, this is far enough out of the light pollution of Dallas to give you great viewing on clear nights. The grassy field with no trees is perfect for higher angle viewing. Surrounding tree line on three sides is too high for objects remotely near the horizon but the skies overhead are clear and bright. Highly recommend this property for some couples down time. Enjoy."

This Cozy Ranch home is a 4 bdrm 3 bath 2 story property that sleeps 10. Perfect for large family or groups. We feature the King Suite with tiled shower, & 1 Queen Bedroom down. The second bath is down w/dual sinks, tiled showers & toilets. The other Queen Bedroom is upstairs with the bunk room adjacent w/ 1 Queen bed and two twin beds. It is not the White Rock property on the right. That is the owners home. Only 20 minutes from Canton Trade Days. It has a fully stocked kitchen with washer/dryer, dishwasher & outdoor gas grill. Large eat in kitchen with large bar seating so everyone can get a seat. The great room is the focal point for all to gather while preparing meals or watching the kids in the yard at the playground. Enjoy the fishing pier on a 15 acre private lake stocked with Florida bass and catfish, crappie and blue gill. If you would like to bring your boat, we have a small boat ramp and boat house that may be used. We are catch and release for anything caught over 21" please. There is a Huge wood burning fire place with plenty of wood and a 6 person hot tub. There is also a large fire pit and rocking chairs down by the lake. Wood is provided. Relax on the back porch overlooking the lake or go fishing while the girls shop at the largest flea market in the United States. Canton Trade Days is Open every first Monday of the month year round.

- "We were very fortunate to stumble across this home. Our original home was canceled on us 1 month before our spring break vacation. I quickly searched for something new and this place had everything we wanted from fishing to a ton of games. We walked along the dirt road (when it wasn't too windy) and met some cows during our stay. The kitchen had almost everything we needed, as we cooked every meal while there. We caught a few catfish while fishing, played all the games and even rode the bicycles around. My family including 2 teenagers, grandparents and pups had an amazing time. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice get away!"

Water front Ranch house that will take your breath away! Plenty of space for your family . Lots of tree's and enough property to enjoy with plenty of space . Great home for family reunion and parties to bring all your family together for any occasion.

Walk to the lake and enjoy the scenic view at the water or fish . Bass fish in the lake and they do bite.

- "Loved this property! There was something for everyone! The only "problem" we had was a little confusion re recycling. The property manager was very response to ur questions. Of course the pool with the waterfall was a hit with everbody! Plenty of bed space and plenty of privacy when we needed to just get away from the crowd!" - "It was a lovely property and fully stocked with all the necessities. - "Best hosts ever! Beautiful property, extremely safe, not too far from stores if you need something but once you are there you are in a beautiful oasis all to yourself. Cabin is clean, new, filled with everything needed…and there is a massage chair that was the icing on the cake. Minutes from first Monday flea market at Canton, but escape to the perfect quiet once you are done with the crowd. Don’t hesitate to stay here!" - "My wife and I stayed here for a few days and used it as a launching pad to visit Canton (Trade Days), Tyler, and several other fun little East Texas towns. Canton is only about 10 minutes away. The cabin is fairly new and very nice, perfect for a couple. There are lots of amazing things about the property: it is on a little farm with donkeys, horses, geese, goats, and a couple of super friendly dogs (including a pug which is always fun!). The pond is scenic and has a dock right by the cabin. For entertainment the TV works well and has built-in apps for Amazon, Netflix, etc., and we were able to stream Amazon just fine (technically it is through the DVD / BluRay player, which by the way they also had a nice movie library of 40 to 50 titles, so even for rainy days there is some entertainment!). The kitchen is very well stocked and has everything you need. The queen bed (upstairs - just be aware) is quite comfy. The things to be aware of and in the spirit of sharing our full experience, the check-in process was a little bumpy but the host was incredibly responsive which is what is most important and got us checked in with a giant stack of clean towels and bedding, which was awesome. The cabin had two air conditioner units; one worked great and was fine for our needs, but the other is being repaired (in the peak of summer it will come in handy, but during our stay it was fine as-is). Also there was a sink faucet slow leak in the bathroom which also has parts ordered per the owners; probably will be fixed before anyone even reads this review. Only other suggestions for owners could be to add a couple of towel hooks, and maybe consider some additional curtains for the windows as they are fairly open (but there are window treatments that offer privacy from the main house which is about 100 feet away). The owners were super respectful of our privacy (which was our desire - basically to unplug and unwind), but the owner is also a highly certified yoga instructor and offers additional services which lots of folks would enjoy (and is not pushy whatsoever, just made us aware if we had any interest). In summary, this is a great little cabin to stay in and the couple of minor hiccups with the property we saw are in the process of being addressed and so I would confidently give this the thumbs-up for future visitors who want a nice getaway in this vicinity!"

Located in Van Zandt county uniquely known as the “free state”
Why was it known as the free state?
After Texas won its independence from Mexico in 1836, President Martin van Buren didn't annex Texas because Mexico threatened war.
During the Civil War, some residents of Van Zandt County believed that if Texas could secede from the United States, then Van Zandt County could secede from Texas.
These residents organized a government until they were threatened with military intervention. The secession attempt was unsuccessful, but the county became known as the "Free State of Van Zandt".

This irregular shaped 465 acre property was snatched out from under some developers by Arlina and Mike Winslow who intend on preserving the beauty of the land which has some great trails for hiking with elevation changes that cross the Little Saline Creek, which isn't so little! There are 4 small lakes stocked with Bass, Catfish and Red Eared Brim, who share the lakes with eagles, ducks, geese and even a few beaver. Little saline creek runs north for 24 miles and empties into the Sabine river.

Rancho 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all on ranch property and all have great outdoor space in the form or elevated decks or covered areas to enjoy the outdoors.

- "The house is basically a brand new pre fab House, and you stay in the top floor. 2 very spacious bathrooms and bedrooms, laundry, and a spacious family room and kitchen. The entire property is so vast, with tons of grassy areas to enjoy, with a very beautiful pond you can walk around and fish in. Very kid friendly / Family friendly. Only a little over 1 hour away from Dallas, great price, and communication with the house was excellent. Not too hard to find the property and get to it. Thank You!"

- "This house is everything we needed and more. It provided open space for our large group of 16 ladies. Enough bathrooms, open concept kitchen and a place where we were able to gather in the family room. The pool was perfect it was clean,we had privacy. The landlord was a text away she responded immediately. She is very kind and her desire to want your stay to be a good experience was evident immediately. She went above and beyond. My retreat friends want to come back next year!"

This Cozy Ranch home is a 4-bedroom 3 bath 2 story property that sleeps 10. Perfect for large family or groups. We feature the King Suite with tiled shower, & 1 Queen Bedroom down. The second bath is down w/dual sinks, tiled showers & toilets. The other Queen Bedroom is upstairs with the bunk room adjacent w/ 1 Queen bed and two twin beds. It is not the White Rock property on the right. That is the owner's home. Only 20 minutes from Canton Trade Days. It has a fully stocked kitchen with washer/dryer, dishwasher & outdoor gas grill. Large eat in kitchen with large bar seating so everyone can get a seat. The great room is the focal point for all to gather while preparing meals or watching the kids in the yard at the playground. Enjoy the fishing pier on a 15 acre private lake stocked with Florida bass and catfish, crappie and blue gill. We are catch and release for anything caught over 21" please. There is a Huge wood burning fireplace with plenty of wood. There is also a large fire pit and rocking chairs down by the lake. Wood is provided.
