- "My family and I stayed here for two months while we were waiting to move into our new house. We were very comfortable here and the house had everything we needed during our long stay--four bedrooms with comfortable beds, two large, clean bathrooms, laundry with full-size washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, large family room, high-speed wifi, and a large fenced-in yard for our dog. Our favorite features of the house were the large windows that let in a lot of natural light and a great front porch to sit on, relax, and converse with the friendly neighbors. The house is well-maintained and in a great location in the middle of Warrenton. It's an easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Main Street, or a short drive to other restaurants and grocery stores in town. There is also easy access to Rtes. 211, 29/15, and 17 which makes traveling to local wineries, hiking, and other attractions very easy to get to. Despite it's central location, the neighborhood itself is very quiet since this house is located on a side street. I highly recommend this property if you're looking for a weekend getaway or longer rental!"

A small gathering is any gathering over the stated occupancy of 26 guests such as: birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings,rehearsal dinners, reunions, corporate meetings, etc. No more than 50 guests total permitted, which includes the 26 guests staying in the Farmhouse. I

This event fee includes use of the Event Overlook with seating for 50 guests, a gazebo, use of the 10 picnic tables, extra trash removal, and additional guest parking. If your event takes place outdoors, loud music must stop at 10:00 PM for the comfort of other guests on the Farm. Sorry - no tents or port-a-johns are permitted. In case of inclement weather, the Farmhouse can accommodate 50 guests inside. We will send you an event agreement to review and sign.

SHOPPING - We are 45 minutes away from Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, one of the largest indoor shopping malls on the East coast. You will enjoy the one mile adventure of discovering new/unique stores and finding great prices too.

ABSOLUTELY NO BUSES allowed on the farm (no place to turn around). Our suggestion would be to drive to the end of our farm and then park at Giant Food Store where the bus can meet you. The store is about a 1/2 mile away and an easy walk or ride from the Farmhouse.

Our Caretakers live in a separate/secluded location on the farm for your convenience.

History: For at least 80 years of the 20th century Whiffletree Farm was dedicated to horses and specifically, fox hunting. The Warrenton Hunt still rides the property and the hunting hounds (50-60) are kenneled next door. Celebrities like John and Jacquelin Kennedy and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor attended cocktail parties at Whiffletree as part of the social scene surrounding the 'Hunt.'

Agriculture: The farmers, Jesse and Liz Straight, raise pastured broiler chickens (and turkeys), free-foraging pork, grass-finished beef and pastured laying hens. Their farming method of using intensive rotation grazing creates a happy and healthy environment for the animals, improves the fertility of the land and provides more nutritious food for customers . Their cattle are 100% grass fed and their turkeys, broiler chickens, pigs, and laying hens are raised on fresh pasture, non-GMO feed, no antibiotics, no chemicals on the ground, and no toxic chemical washes when they are processed. All this work, precision and care, not only help keep animals, the earth and people healthier it also results in distinctively rich tasting food.

It's 1820 origins are hardly noticeable as it was completely refurbished in 2012 with just about all new systems, updated finishes, and in most cases, even structural components. Within driving distance there is an aquatic/recreational center for indoor swimming and exercising (with equipment and classes).
Beyond town are wonderful Virginia wineries, Skyline Drive and National Park, Civil War Battlefields, and even further east you will find all that the Nation's Capital has to offer (approx. 45 miles).

- "My friends and I were in town for a wedding and this place was a perfect alternative to the hotel block. Granted, Ubers were a little far and few between in the area, but that had nothing to do with the rental property. The place was clean, well-stocked, and well-decorated. We needed to drop off bags early and Fidum was super accommodating. We also got confused and didn’t realize this was a duplex, so needed to move some stuff out of the bottom unit which Fidum was also happy to help us with. All in all a very positive experience :)"

- "The listing showed it had 2 queen beds in the room it did not. A nice lady there says we could get a ceding room cheap or move a twin bed in my room. I needed 2 beds for when my husband came up. The place smelled stale. When I got there the room smelled very strong of bleach and it kind of lingered . The grounds were very pretty. I only stayed one night and found other accommodations but lost my $500 for this place. That’s how dissatisfied I was ."

Even with the snow and ice, we did not have any issues driving up to the house. The ponds were frozen when we were there so we could not fish, but we really enjoyed target shooting and walking through the snowy trails. We saw lots of deer and animal trails:) The owner was very responsive if we had any questions. Stores were close if you need anything. Our family had 3 adults a teenager and a pre-teen. The Manor House at The Black Horse Inn is located in Warrenton, Virginia in the heart of horse country. The Inn is a beautiful hunt-country estate, located less than one hour from Washington D.C. A perfect setting for weddings, our elegant wedding facility, and gazebo makes the most beautiful focal point for photographs. We would also love to host any weekend gateway, family reunion, bachelor/bachelorette event, birthday celebrations, overnight trips to the vineyards, or even just an overnight trip out of the city. The property is equipped with an ample number of porches, landscaped grounds, boxwood gardens, and spectacular views. Many guests enjoy simply relaxing in the Inn’s comfortable rooms and public areas or strolling the grounds. Wildlife abounds, and white-tailed deer and red foxes can be spotted in the fields. The original part of the mansion was built in the 1850s. Several additions were added to the property in the early 1900s. The Inn's eight rooms all come with their own private baths, many with four-poster canopy beds, Jacuzzi tubs, and fireplaces.
