- "My family and I stayed here for two months while we were waiting to move into our new house. We were very comfortable here and the house had everything we needed during our long stay--four bedrooms with comfortable beds, two large, clean bathrooms, laundry with full-size washer/dryer, fully-equipped kitchen, large family room, high-speed wifi, and a large fenced-in yard for our dog. Our favorite features of the house were the large windows that let in a lot of natural light and a great front porch to sit on, relax, and converse with the friendly neighbors. The house is well-maintained and in a great location in the middle of Warrenton. It's an easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants on Main Street, or a short drive to other restaurants and grocery stores in town. There is also easy access to Rtes. 211, 29/15, and 17 which makes traveling to local wineries, hiking, and other attractions very easy to get to. Despite it's central location, the neighborhood itself is very quiet since this house is located on a side street. I highly recommend this property if you're looking for a weekend getaway or longer rental!"

A small gathering is any gathering over the stated occupancy of 26 guests such as: birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings,rehearsal dinners, reunions, corporate meetings, etc. No more than 50 guests total permitted, which includes the 26 guests staying in the Farmhouse. I

This event fee includes use of the Event Overlook with seating for 50 guests, a gazebo, use of the 10 picnic tables, extra trash removal, and additional guest parking. If your event takes place outdoors, loud music must stop at 10:00 PM for the comfort of other guests on the Farm. Sorry - no tents or port-a-johns are permitted. In case of inclement weather, the Farmhouse can accommodate 50 guests inside. We will send you an event agreement to review and sign.

SHOPPING - We are 45 minutes away from Potomac Mills Outlet Mall, one of the largest indoor shopping malls on the East coast. You will enjoy the one mile adventure of discovering new/unique stores and finding great prices too.

ABSOLUTELY NO BUSES allowed on the farm (no place to turn around). Our suggestion would be to drive to the end of our farm and then park at Giant Food Store where the bus can meet you. The store is about a 1/2 mile away and an easy walk or ride from the Farmhouse.

Our Caretakers live in a separate/secluded location on the farm for your convenience.

Whiffletree Farm also allows guests the opportunity to delve into agro-tourism: gain exposure to sustainable farming, study resources (videos, books, articles) provided in home library, and purchase poultry, milk, eggs etc. from the farm store run by the farmers themselves, Jesse and Liz Straight.

History: For at least 80 years of the 20th century Whiffletree Farm was dedicated to horses and specifically, fox hunting. The Warrenton Hunt still rides the property and the hunting hounds (50-60) are kenneled next door. Celebrities like John and Jacquelin Kennedy and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor attended cocktail parties at Whiffletree as part of the social scene surrounding the 'Hunt.'

Agriculture: The farmers, Jesse and Liz Straight, raise pastured broiler chickens (and turkeys), free-foraging pork, grass-finished beef and pastured laying hens. Their farming method of using intensive rotation grazing creates a happy and healthy environment for the animals, improves the fertility of the land and provides more nutritious food for customers . Their cattle are 100% grass fed and their turkeys, broiler chickens, pigs, and laying hens are raised on fresh pasture, non-GMO feed, no antibiotics, no chemicals on the ground, and no toxic chemical washes when they are processed. All this work, precision and care, not only help keep animals, the earth and people healthier it also results in distinctively rich tasting food.

And lastly, in case hikes, bike rides and walks don’t satisfy your exercise needs, Warrenton has a large aquatic center with a competition pool, hot tub, water park with slides and workout facilities. Golf courses, a tennis club and a yoga studio are also just within a 10 minute drive. But don't overbook yourselves. The house, the farm and the grounds are special.

This bright and cheerful country cottage won’t disappoint!
It's 1820 origins are hardly noticeable as it was completely refurbished in 2012 with just about all new systems, updated finishes, and in most cases, even structural components. It features 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths. A well-appointed kitchen with a large common room for dining, lounging and watching T.V. It is approximately 1250 square feet with hardwood floors throughout. Upstairs you will find a peaceful Master retreat, with private on-suite bath which includes separate shower and even a claw foot tub!
The grounds are well appointed with Dogwood trees, English Boxwoods, Lamb’s Tongue, Hollies and Crepe Myrtle.
Old Town Warrenton is a very pleasant 3 block walk where you will find the historic court house, "Old Jail", and John Singleton Mosby's (The Gray Ghost) home/museum. There are 2 bakeries, 5 restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, fair trade gift stores, and even a micro-brewery all within walking distance. Within driving distance there is an aquatic/recreational center for indoor swimming and exercising (with equipment and classes).
Beyond town are wonderful Virginia wineries, Skyline Drive and National Park, Civil War Battlefields, and even further east you will find all that the Nation's Capital has to offer (approx. 45 miles).
Dulles airport is a 50 minute drive.
Charlottesville is 1.5 hours away
