- "Wonderful inn in every way. Great restaurant too!" - "A lovely 1 night stay at The Lion. Just me and my dog - they are very welcoming to dogs. Room was clean and warm with good quality toiletries and tea/coffee. Bed was very comfortable. I had dinner in the evening which was excellent. The dining area had a friendly, lively atmosphre and the pub in general is a perfect old-style place with good beers on tap but also a gastro-pub style menu and wine list. Breakfast in the morning was also just as you would want it - I had the full English which set me up very well for the day. Took a walk up to Belas Knap Long Barrow and then Cleeve Hill - both highly recommended if you want to tire your dog out and get some magnificent views yourself! I only saw the town/village when everything was closed but it looked like it would be well worth a stroll round - I would have liked to stay to browse the second hand bookshop (I tihnk it's called Books & Ink) but sadly did not have time. Really good stay - I hope to return."

Immediately outside the breakfast room and the conservatory is a long patio with a border full of flowering plants, and a wooden fence that backs onto the bank of the River Isbourne. Open fields lie beyond with the Cotswold countryside immediately accessible via a footpath to the side of the house. The cottage has a wrap-around gravel border, which opens out at the rear into a pretty garden, with mature trees and a patio with BBQ and outside seating. The garden runs down to Beesmoor Brook, which feeds into the River Isbourne running through Winchcombe.

The kitchen features a range-style Cuisinemaster oven with three ovens and a five-ring hob. A refectory-style table comfortably seats four for breakfast or serves as an additional preparation space. A dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer is provided along with all the utensils, food preparation equipment, crockery and glassware needed for a luxury, self-catered stay.
Dining Room:

Outside
From the front of the cottage, a gravelled border wraps around the side of the cottage (overlooking Castle Street) to the rear where guests have access to a large garden laid to lawn, with mature trees and a patio with outdoor seating for eight. A path leads down to a wooden picket fence, which borders Beesmoor Brook that feeds the River Isbourne as it runs through Winchcombe. Please note that the fencing provides a secure barrier to prevent children from accessing the brook. However, the side garden is raised and open, which is a potential fall hazard for young children. Therefore, please ensure children are not left unattended in the garden.
- "Great place to stay literally in the town but didn't feel like it loads of space in the property so you weren't on top of each other. Glad we could take dog as there was loads of walks around the area, garden was great but not fully fenced in so needed to be mindful when dog was out in garden with us. That being said it was a great place to stay and the town of Winchcombe was lovely with nice pubs to eat and drink but the kitchen in the property was brilliant if you want to cook for yourself. 3 double bedrooms with ensuite and a room with 2 single beds so that was great as well as you don't get that in many places."

Winchcombe is one of the most genuine and pretty Cotswold villages. Fortunately, Winchcombe is not not the main tourist trail and therefore it is less busy than some of the most well trod Cotswold villages. What is does have is all the beauty but with none of the crowds of day visitors. Winchcombe's origins go back as far as Anglo-Saxon times and it was once famous for its wool industry. The stunning Sudeley Castle is located in Winchcombe and well worth a day visit. Home of Lady Ashcombe and once home to Katherine Parr, Sudeley is indeed a must on your to-do list. The town is blessed with numerous pubs and restaurants with a good range of food from traditional pub grub, gastro pubs and first class elegant dining. You can eat in a different place every night of the week all within walking distance of the cottage. Access to Cheltenham Racecourse is just 10 minutes over Cleave Hill. Cheltenham is home to the most famous jump racing circuit, Prestbury Park. The famous Cheltenham Festival takes place in March each year and is known as the shining jewel in the jump racing calendar. If you can't make it in March there are many other race days to attend during the year. Cheltenham Spa should definitely be on your "to do" list, with its café culture and wide boulevards, excellent shopping and impressive Georgian architecture. Now home to The Ivy restaurant, but remember to book ahead. Cheltenham is lucky to be the location of many 'Festivals' each year. These are often advertised on the BBC. The Jazz Festival in May, Science Festival in June, Music Festival in July and the Literature Festival in October. It is worth booking tickets if you are staying during one of these peak periods. All events are well worth attending and take place in and around the impressive Montpellier Gardens.
If you like classic cars you will love Prescott. Prescott Hill Climb is just a short drive away in a neighbouring village and if the weather is fine there is nothing better than a day with a picnic on the hillside watching the classic cars race up the circuit. If Steam Trains take your fancy, we are well positioned with Winchcombe's very own steam train and station. The Gloucestershire Steam Railway website will have more information and a timetable of events. A little further afield but all within an hour's drive is Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick Castle, Blenheim Place and the beautiful city of Oxford.
- "This part of England is very beautiful ! Attractive countryside, lovely old villages, very well preserved. The cottage we stayed in was part of a street of very old terraced houses. It was lovely and comfortable." - "The Vine had everything and more that we required. The accommodation was very clean and well apportioned with quality all around. The garden was a lovely addition especially appreciated on two very hot days. Perfect location for exploring surrounding the area. There was no need to use the car as there is plenty of walking, history and places to eat in and around Winchcombe. We really enjoyed our holiday. Thank you."
