Our property was listed on VRBO in 2016. This stunning three bedroom, three bathroom villa is located in the Bishop's Lodge Villas adjacent to the Bishop's Lodge Ranch Resort & Spa. There are completely unobstructed 360 degree, panoramic views of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, yet the location is only four miles north of the Plaza!

The home is in the less densely populated, lower section of the Villas, offering the most privacy. We had the first selection of the Bishop's Lodge Villas, and opted for privacy, serenity, and spectacular views. There is a swimming pool (open Friday of Memorial Day weekend to end of Labor Day weekend) behind our villa that is shared with only the 6 other villas in our section and is very lightly used. The vast majority of the time it is empty.

The Pueblo-revival style, freestanding villa with wood-beamed ceilings has a fully-equipped kitchen with a gas stove, full oven, microwave and large refrigerator. Meals can be served at the granite counter area or at the adjacent dining room table that comfortably seats six, eight if needed.

The home's large, great room has a leather queen sleeper sofa, TV with a Premium Cable Package, and kiva fireplace. This gorgeous, welcoming sitting area opens onto a large patio where you can enjoy the same breathtaking views as the great room. The gas barbecue grill, and patio chairs and table, offer an inviting dining option.

The three bedrooms are furnished in classic Spanish style. The turquoise and red-accented master bedroom suite has a king bed, TV, and kiva fireplace. The en suite bathroom has both a shower and a whirlpool tub. The middle bedroom has two twin beds and overlooks the Jemez Mountains. The third bedroom is easily mistaken for the master bedroom and has a king bed, TV, kiva fireplace, and lovely views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Ski Santa Fe. Both the second and third bedrooms have a shower/bath tub and separate sink area.

The home is adjacent to 200 acres of the Santa Fe National Forest, and several hiking trails are easily accessible. Many of Santa Fe's over 300 restaurants are within a short drive. Uber taxi service is readily available.

named Santa Fe the #1 travel destination in America “for its natural beauty and food scene.” The largest nearby airport is Albuquerque (ABQ), slightly more than an hour away. Flights are readily available from most U.S. cities, and the airport is easy to navigate once you arrive. Rental car service is available, too. It is a direct route via I-25 from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. Once in Santa Fe, the villa is easy to find.
Flights into Santa Fe Airport (SAF) are available from Denver (DEN), Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW), and Phoenix (PHX). SAF is a 25 minute drive from the villa. Rental cars are available at SAF.

Xanadu Villa offers the ultimate in privacy, size and comfort to its guests. With 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, a living room and family room, furnished exercise room, the 4000 square feet along with another 1600 square feet of covered and open patio area this property offers plenty of options for relaxing and entertaining. From the treed 5 acre property you have views of the Jemez Mountains to the West and the Sangre de Christo Mountains and the Santa Fe ski basin to the East. The property is 8 miles North of Santa Fe in the hills of Tesuque.

Upon arrival and entering the enclosed front courtyard you are immediately struck with the uniqueness of the property. There is a large covered portal on the front side of the home with two different seating areas, one with a flaming firepit table. The thoughtfully placed hot tub and BBQ grill are placed just to the right of the portal. Adjacent to this area are the steps to the 900 square-foot observation deck with an outdoor sectional sofa and pub table with chairs and a gas heater. The views from the deck are spectacular. The sunset photos that you see were taken from this area. This deck is also conveniently accessible from the master bedroom.

Returning to the front portal you enter a covered entry 12 feet high which continues into the front of the home creating a dramatic entrance. Upon entering the home you immediately realize that a lot of thought went into maximizing the views from the home. Beautiful natural wood beams have been used throughout with wood decking above the beams and beautiful natural hardwood flooring giving the home its distinctive look. There is a large easy-flow kitchen with all new appliances and an extensive amount of storage space. The adjacent dining room has a corner fireplace and the table will adjust from a 6-person seating to seating for 10. The high ceiling and wood beams throughout the living room along with all of the tall windows make for a very comfortable gathering place. There is a gas fireplace in this room as well. There is a door leading onto a deck that offers views to the Southwest including the Santa Fe Opera. You can hear the music when the opera is in season.

Additionally, there is a full-size guest bathroom with a tub and shower on this level. When you enter the master suite once again you appreciate all of the beautiful wood beams used in the vaulted ceiling of the bedroom and the hardwood floors in the bath and closet area. There is a 4-poster bed, beautiful furniture, and a 60" TV that lowers from the ceiling. The large observation deck is also accessible from the master bedroom and there is an additional deck matching the living room area off the back side of the room with the same Southwest views including a small seating area.

The stairs to the lower level are very open with high ceilings as well and from the middle landing, you can continue down to the left leading to the family room and downstairs master bedroom or to the right leading to the 3 Queen bedrooms, the laundry and the garage area. The spacious family room also features a wood beam ceiling with wood decking and is beautifully furnished with custom-made furniture and features a bar to one side and another 65" TV that drops down from the ceiling. The views are too beautiful and since the room is all windows the drop-down TV is perfect. There is corner gas fireplace in this room as well. Just off this area is the lower level master bedroom with a King bed which is beautifully appointed, and has a 3/4 bath and walk-in closet. Around the staircase and down the hall are the 3 Queen bedrooms all of which have been thoughtfully furnished with functional furniture and wall art. One of these bedrooms has a walk-in closet as well as a door leading outside to a private seating area under the trees. The laundry room has a new large-capacity washer and dryer and kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and all accessories. Just past this area and leading to the double car garage is a large exercise room with nice equipment and views of the backyard.

There are 4 doors leading to the backyard which is completely enclosed by a stucco wall and offer several areas to gather around a table or relax on the hammock or just enjoy the open space and nature. The silence can be deafening.

During your stay at Xanadu Villa you are the only guests at the property and have full access to what the home has to offer. If there is ever anything that you need simply contact us at (almost) anytime. There was a laundry room for all of the units. There is no street parking if you need it. You will need to use public parking. Fantastic hacienda with amazing views, great commercial kitchen, cozy fireplace and lovely rooms with their own bathrooms. Ample towels and toiletries. The host was terrific! He gave us a thorough tour with the history of the home. He was available and very helpful. Easily located off Cerillos road and a quick drive to Santa Fe Ski area. - "Check in was easy with directions for the code 24 hours prior. Well equipped kitchen, nice extras of firewood, starters and ice melt. No steps to get into home in one direction. Comfortable beds, pretty decor, easy to operate TV. We built a fire in the fireplace and needed more starter wood, the main office supplied those within minutes and even after hours when I left a message to check if the flu was open on the fireplace got an immediate response. They supplied coffee. Walk to the plaza is just a couple blocks. Really enjoyed our stay at this location, anything else touristy to drive to all seemed to be less than 10 minutes to anything. Will stay here again."

- "The house was well-appointed and very comfortable for our family of 10. We had a lovely time hanging out in the yard, and we enjoyed many days swimming in the pool. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen and dining areas were well-equipped. The kids enjoyed visiting the horses and chickens each day, and we loved making friends with the owners' dogs. The house is well-located a few minutes outside of Santa Fe. We visited the Plaza, art galleries, and farmers market downtown, and we went on several hikes and bike rides in the area. On the last day when we had a problem with our flight, Mercedes went out of her way to offer a helping hand - thanks for a wonderful trip!"

The Main House:
The interior boasts 2,100 sq ft of space in the main house. The bright, airy, open-concept Great Room features 15-foot high ceilings, ceiling vigas, large windows, earth-tone brick floors, and beautifully woven wool carpets.
Gather on the extra-large comfy sectional sofa nicely arranged with chairs and ottomans around a kiva fireplace in the lounge area. Stream your favorite shows or movies on the 65” wall-mounted Smart TV. Play games on the game table or read one of the books on the shelves. Listen to music via the Marshall Bluetooth speakers. Dine at the kitchen counter bar or at the glass-top dining table, offering seating for eight below a wrought iron chandelier. Two sets of French doors off the Great Room open out to a brick patio with a seating area and a kiva fireplace to enjoy in the evening. The character of this home is in the details: original American Indian artworks and treasures from all over the world.

The kitchen has clerestory windows that imbue the room with soft light, natural wood cabinetry, solid stone counters, and new state-of-the-art appliances, including a French door fridge & freezer, microwave, dishwasher, oven with glass top range, and all the small appliances one could wish for. In the large primary suite, there is also a sitting area with two curved leather armchairs and an antique ottoman beside another Kiva fireplace. Bedroom #2 has a king bed (can be two single extra-long twin beds), a work desk & chair, a closet, an antique bureau, an elegant window seat, and French doors that open out to a private patio with fountain, seating, and courtyard gardens. Bedroom #2 has access to a large full bathroom with a tub/shower combination just off the hallway.

The Guest Suite:
Across the portal from the main house is a private studio or Bedroom #3 with an ensuite full bathroom and walk-in closet. Here is a queen-size bed, leather loveseat and chair, another kiva fireplace, bureau, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, picture windows to a garden, and double glass doors that open to a portal with mountain views.

The Casita:
Across the portal from the Main House is also the casita. This guest house has a second Great Room with a private covered porch, a southwestern-inspired patio sofa, and an alfresco dining table for four. Sip your morning coffee as you marvel at the enchanting views. Traditional chile pepper ristras hang, adding charm, color, and authenticity to the front porch decor. There is a sitting area with a queen-size sofa bed and two armchairs, nicely arranged between the 65” Smart TV and another Kiva fireplace. There is also an interior dining table with seating for four beside a built-in bookshelf featuring treasures from the owner’s travels around the world. The kitchenette has a small sink, Sub-Zero under-counter fridge/freezer, microwave, two burner cooktop, and beautiful Alderwood cabinets. Bedroom #4 is located in this casita and has a king-size bed, a large skylight, a closet, a dresser, and matching nightstands. The Casita bathroom has a walk-in shower.

Outdoor Spaces:
Enjoy colorful native plantings and shrubs, with several alfresco dining and sitting spaces shaded by large umbrellas. Prepare a feast on the large BBQ grill located in the covered portal. At night, stargaze as you relax in the saltwater hot tub. The Casas de San Juan gated community is a sophisticated, quiet, and highly desirable luxury neighborhood with both estate homes and villas in an area rich with cultural history.
