Modern Cabin Inside Sf National Forest 12 Miles to Plaza
Cabin
Santa Fe North, New Mexico, USA

Beautiful modern mountain cabin with all high end amenities INSIDE the Santa Fe National forest.
Summer and Winter wonderland!
The home is all on one level - no stairs of any kind (except the exterior stairs down to the hutub) King bed in the master and two queen beds in the guest rooms - all plush pillow top beds with very comfy sheets and down comforters.
Awesome master bath with giant cast iron tub, perfect for two if you don't feel like sitting in the hot tub :-)
Fully stocked kitchen with a Viking range and everything you will need.
Extreme privacy - this is one of the only properties like this in the Santa Fe area - a true mountain paradise get away, yet so close to town with a mountain creek that winds through the forest.
Out door enthusiasts will love it here, bring your mountain bikes in the summer and your cross country ski's in the winter, ski right out the front door!
Since we are located in the national forest hikers will love it here. There are great trails within walking distance or by a short drive - another reason to have an SUV so its easier to get up into the forest past the cabin.
The home has ample deck and patio space overlooking the creek and hot tub, perfect for out door entertaining.
Birders will love it up here! We have great birds all year around but especially in the summer when the hummingbirds are everywhere.
Cool temps in the summer when downtown is hot!
Encantado resort is right down the road for world class dining and spa services.
There is a 2 mile dirt road to the property and the last 1/2 mile can be very bumpy and it can get muddy or snowy depending on the weather. I would recommend an SUV or higher clearance vehicle for the summer months to make travel on the road more comfortable. In the winter a four wheel drive SUV or truck is mandatory because we are in the mountains and there will be snow - see the pictures.
So if you are looking for a place to truly relax and be surrounded by nature yet be close to all that Santa Fe has to offer please consider us!
Pets are allowed for a fee, please discuss with me first.

We plan on returning!" - "Magical location, awesome host, excellent in every way!" - "Amazing cabin with all amenities in a beautiful with a running creek just outside the door" - "The house is lovely and suited our needs well. The last bit of road was quite rough, but Brian warned us and we made sure to drive all wheel and four wheel drive vehicles that handled the road well. We were surrounded in nature and quiet. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pans, seasonings, and condiments, so it was easy to cook big family meals. The kids enjoyed exploring the creek in front of the house and finding all the gnomes. We came home exhausted each evening from skiing all day, but truly enjoyed snuggling up together on the couch to play games and watch a movie or two."

- "Pretty views. Cool summer nights" - "This modern cabin in the woods is a delightful retreat for anyone wanting to stay in the Santa Fe area but have the privacy and feel of being out in the woods. The property has lovely well marked hiking trails, and lizards bask in the sun on the side patio. The kitchen has everything you'd need, and the beds are comfortable. It stormed while we were there, and the roads remained passable for our minivan. I will say that while perfectly safe and serviceable, the spiral staircase creaks quite loudly, even under a child's weight. If you have bad knees, the toilet may be uncomfortably low to the ground."

Hilltop Nest
Cabin
Glorieta

Kick back and relax in this stylish cabin in the forest. Hilltop location with forever views. Just off scenic Route 66 (Hwy 50), up a steep (but short) driveway, sits a 2-bedroom log cabin with plenty of birdsong and pine trees, a porch surrounded by views and furnished with a grill for outdoor dining. Five miles east is the village of Pecos with the Pecos River for fishing, hiking, and exploring. Sixteen miles west is the legendary city of Santa Fe packed with world-class art and culture.

The space
My cabin has just finished being built, so it’s brand new! There are so many things I love about this cabin: for example, it has so many windows that light comes in every hour of the day—whether you’re in one of the two bedrooms or the kitchen or the living room, it’s almost like you’re outside. Even the bathroom shower has a window in it! And speaking of the bathroom, the bathtub has a bunch of water jets, so when you switch them on, it’s like you’re in a jacuzzi or an indoor hot tub!

Another thing I love is the 60’s-type dome fireplace in the living room. There’s nothing like the atmosphere a fireplace gives off on a cold night. But to make sure the cabin temperature stays cozy in case you run out of wood, there’s central heat throughout the entire cabin! No cold nights here!

And I love spending money, too, especially when used to furnish and decorate my new cabin. There’s a special carpet in every room except the kitchen, there’s a Stressless Ekornes couch and lounge chair, an Art Deco coffee table, walnut wardrobes in each bedroom, a French Provençal desk out on the porch if you’re working from home, and art and weaving on the walls (and I’m still searching for more!).

And lots of other stuff: new mattresses on the beds (soft in the front bedroom and a firmer one in back), large new microwave over the stove, washer and dryer in a closet by the bathroom, whole-house WiFi which is generally fine for internet, email/texts, and music, though not enough bandwidth for watching TV—though there is one if you want to try. (Out here in the country, we’re still dealing with DSL, so if you’re planning to work from home, no problem if you bring along your hotspot.) The cellphone service is generally reliable. I have 20 acres to explore, mostly with Ponderosa pine. On up the road a couple miles and you’re in the Santa Fe National Forest where you can camp and hike. Drive west on old Route 66 (Hwy 50) and you can fish in the Pecos River or visit the Pecos National Park. Drive west 20 minutes and you’ll find Santa Fe with its summer fiestas, Canyon Road with art galleries galore, and some world-class fine dining.

Guest access
The cabin is all yours: 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, full bathroom with a JACUZZI bathtub full of water jets! There’s a sun deck along the front and large balcony in back with grill, dining table, desk, lounge chair.

Other things to note
1. No smoking/vaping inside please.
2. Santa Fe County does not allow fireworks in this area at present:

“SANTA FE, NM – On June 10, 2025, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-65, declaring extreme or severe drought conditions and banning the sale and use of certain fireworks in the unincorporated and wildland areas of Santa Fe County.

Due to persistent drought and the immediate danger of range, brush, grass, and forest fires, the Santa Fe County Fire Marshal proposed a ban on the sale and use of certain fireworks, including missile-type rockets, helicopters, aerial spinners, stick-type rockets, and ground audible devices. The resolution is effective June 10 through July 10, 2025, and may be extended if dry conditions persist.” (Press Release on June 11, 2025)
