- "Loved our recent stay at these quaint, homey cabins. We had 3 kids with us - 15,13, and 9. We had the Polar Bear cabin, which had 3 bedrooms. The kitchen was equipped well enough with what we needed, and each room had a queen size bed. There was also a sofa bed in the living room. The cabin itself was what you'd expect in the great outdoors - rustic, simple, and with the occasional critter or two. The area surrounding the cabin was beautiful, and the Vallecito Lake was within walking distance. We explored during the day and enjoyed spending the evenings back at the property playing cards at the picnic table, badminton matches, ladderball, horseshoes, and swinging on the playset. The property manager was available when needed and kind, helping us choose a fantastic hike and recommend local establishments nearby. We will happily choose Bear Paw Lodge again when we visit Colorado!"

This 2-story cabin is on 2 acres of serene wilderness, surrounded by tall pine trees in the beautiful community of Forest Lakes, Colorado. Within this community we have Lake Simpatico,(2 miles from the cabin), a private 25 acre lake that is stocked with fish waiting to bite and does not require a fishing license. It is located 6 miles north of Bayfield where you can find amenities such as grocery stores and several restaurants for your added convenience. (Four wheel drive and/or chains necessary during winter months).

The cabin is also located only 20 miles south of Vallecito Lake, one of the largest lakes in Colorado where you can enjoy endless activities such as, hiking, boating, fishing, horseback riding, jet skiing in the summer, ice fishing, skiing, tubing and snow shoeing in the winter. You can also easily enjoy the superb shopping and dining in the historic city of Durango, only 30 miles away.

The cabin is available all year and throughout the hunting season and is located near over a half million acres of public land and big game habitat and is a top pick for hunting Elk, Mule Deer and Turkey. Guided hunting trips are available.

The cabin is nicely furnished and has all modern conveniences. It features a beautiful covered front porch which is a favorite place to enjoy a morning coffee, take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the wildlife meandering by including deer, elk and if you are real lucky a bear. (Please keep your food indoors and trash in designated containers). Enjoy high ceilings, lots of natural light, two bedrooms and 1 full bathroom. On the first floor you will also find a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room with comfy recliners and chairs, ceiling fan, and 47” HD TV. A dining area with a large 6 person dining table is the perfect place to enjoy dinner or play games with your friends and family. Downstairs you will also find a bedroom with full size bed and large sliding doors to a patio where you could enjoy the scenery. The full bathroom which includes a bathtub and a shower is also located on the first floor. Avery Place is a spacious (1,130 sq. ft.) 2-Story Craftsman Cabin. A perfect retreat nestled among the pines and just a short walk from the serene shoreline of Vallecito Lake. This charming cabin features a cozy fireplace to warm your evenings, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere no matter the season. Enjoy the convenience of air conditioning, keeping you cool during warm summer days. Step outside onto the covered deck, where you can relax with a good book or enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the peaceful surroundings.

This cabin is designed for comfort and enjoyment, making it the ideal home base for your lakeside getaway! A perfect vacation cabin for families, couples, or just good friends!

This spacious retreat features two king-size beds on the second floor, providing ample space for restful nights. Additionally, there's a full-size pullout couch on the first floor, perfect for accommodating two children under 12 years. Please note there is a $35 linen fee for guests exceeding four persons or for the use of the pullout, and we also offer a complimentary fold-up play crib.

The master bedroom boasts a private bathroom, while the second bedroom has easy access to a hallway bathroom, ensuring privacy and comfort for all guests.

The living room offers seating for six, and while the charming ceiling beams can be low in some areas, they add character to the space. Unwind indoors by the cozy stone fireplace in the living-room and stay connected with free Wi-Fi, and enjoy entertainment with Netflix and DVD movies available on the TV.

Just a friendly reminder that since we are nestled in the pines, the internet speed may be slower than what you’re accustomed to. Think of it as an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle and fully immerse yourself in the serene surroundings.

Off the living room is a half bath on the first floor, and air conditioning for those warm days.

Our sunny kitchen, complete with a dining area that seats four, offers window seating for enjoying the views. The kitchen is stocked with just about everything you'll need to master up meals at the cabin like a chef! You could also enjoy dining under the covered decks fresco style with the charcoal BBQ next to the deck.

The cabin is well-stocked with linens, cleaning supplies, personal care products, and all the necessary amenities for cooking. Feel free to reach out with any questions about these items. We're here to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible!

The large covered patio features plenty of seating and a charcoal BBQ for alfresco dining, making it an ideal spot for gatherings. Please note that smoking is not permitted inside the cabin, but we do provide a designated smoking bin on the patio for ashes and cigarette butts. Please shut both front doors and have window closed so the smoke does not enter the cabin, and thank you!

And, for those looking to explore the lake, we provide a canoe for your adventures, along with fishing poles for a delightful day of angling. Kept at the cabin is a stand-up paddleboard that can be carted to the lake's shoreline; we also supply oars, and standard sized life jackets. Please note- You are responsible for your family's safety, and using any trail or watersport provided, you are doing so "At your own risk".
The canoe, SUP and BBQ are not available from the end of October until mid-Spring.

Due to the unique landscape, trash companies are unable to use their hydraulic lifts to pick up containers, so we ask that all guests please use the dumpsters located on the main road for your trash disposal. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community clean and beautiful.

We’re pet-friendly! One to two dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, pets are not allowed on the furniture or linens, please ensure they are crated if left alone in the cabin; always under your control; picked up after outside; any flea and tick issues resolved before your stay.

One week before your stay, I will start communication on your upcoming trip. As your dedicated host and concierge, I am available to answer any questions or recommendations in the area so this can truly be a memorable trip.
I have a guest book in each cabin with detailed information of the cabin, area, hikes, restaurants and activities. We can also arrange to meet at the cabin so I can better understand your needs, goals, and desires, allowing me to tailor your experience to perfection!

Guests can benefit from a patio and an outdoor fireplace. Durango Hot Springs is 28 miles from the vacation home. Leading onto a balcony with lake views, the vacation home consists of 2 bedrooms. Providing a terrace with mountain views, this vacation home also provides guests with a flat-screen TV, a well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, an oven, and a microwave, as well as 1 bathroom. The property has an outdoor dining area. The vacation home has a picnic area where you can spend the day outdoors. Durango-La Plata County Airport is 33 miles away.

Quiet cabin nestled in the mountains near all that Southwest Colorado offers. One mile from the lake and the national forest hiking, fishing, biking, and more. 45 minutes from Durango with shopping, rafting, DSNGRR Train, mountain biking, and hiking. Relax, unplug, and make memories.

This is a fun-filled family property. Enjoy quiet mornings in the Hammocks or Adirondack chairs throughout the property watching the sun come up in the valley. This is a great time to see deer in the yard eating the grass and flowers.

The Miners cabin is our guest cabin that is nestled in amongst 100 ft tall Blue Spruce trees with a nice front porch with a picnic table. On the main floor, you will find the living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with 2 comfortable twin beds. Upstairs is a spacious room with a king bed and a sitting area with a queen-sized futon. Note that upstairs is accessed by a set of steep stairs.

We were able to drive into Durango for the day and explore Mesa Verde and another day we rented a jeep and drove to Silverton to the ghost towns and mines. Shawn provides a fly fishing lesson for a fee if interested and we did that and the kids learned a lot from him! We had a great time watching them learn the art of fly fishing. He suggested a guide service for the lake and it was great! We tried fishing for Pike but didn't get any, but caught lots of trout! Shawn also gave us recommendations on restaurants to try out and we went to all the ones he suggested and they were terrific! He is very kind and let us borrow his ice chest since we forgot ours. The only draw backs are that you can't fish in the pond (which we understood, just want people to be aware) and that while the Vallecito creek is on the property it is a little hard to access and difficult to fish in because there is quite a bit of brush that your pole will get hung in. The lake and other parts of the river are a quick drive though so we did that. This area is very quiet and quaint and we loved sitting around the firepit at night talking about our day. A great way to unwind and unplug."
