The kitchen was equipped well enough with what we needed, and each room had a queen size bed. There was also a sofa bed in the living room. The cabin itself was what you'd expect in the great outdoors - rustic, simple, and with the occasional critter or two. The area surrounding the cabin was beautiful, and the Vallecito Lake was within walking distance. We explored during the day and enjoyed spending the evenings back at the property playing cards at the picnic table, badminton matches, ladderball, horseshoes, and swinging on the playset. The property manager was available when needed and kind, helping us choose a fantastic hike and recommend local establishments nearby. We will happily choose Bear Paw Lodge again when we visit Colorado!"

The large master bedroom is a perfect retreat. If kids or extra family are in the mix, the KIDS love the bunk house loft and will surely please with its 3 comfortable beds!

The Bunk House cabin was built by local wranglers and is situated on 2.5 acres that border public Bureau of Reclamation lands, that allow for direct access to Vallecito lake from the back of the property, additionally the property has a park like feel to it with fire pit, area to play yard games, etc.

The cabin itself is 800 SQ Ft, small but unique with a very fun layout. Kids absolutely love the sleeping loft bedroom. The Master bedroom is very spacious with beautiful views of the lake. Additionally the back deck is set up with lounge furniture and a grill. This is an amazing space to just relax and enjoy why you came to visit!

Rocky mountain General store is just 300 yards away and Vallecito County Market and Wemineuche Wood Fired Grill are less than a mile away.
Marina and boat Launch are 3 miles and Durango is about 30 minutes.

We discovered a driving trail relatively close to the property, where you can drop your gear and then have a runner move the truck. If you are planning on just walking the lake trail or just looking at the water from the deck of the property, this is perfect. Barney was great to deal with and the property is located within walking distance to the Weminuche Grill. Thank you"

This cabin is located 200 feet from the main residence, so you may hear daily activities including dog barking/play during your stay. It's in a rural area, and despite our cleaning efforts, you might encounter insects or wildlife. Please keep all windows and doors closed to prevent entry, as no prevention method is foolproof.

This spacious retreat features two king-size beds on the second floor, providing ample space for restful nights. Additionally, there's a full-size pullout couch on the first floor, perfect for accommodating two children under 12 years. Please note there is a $35 linen fee for guests exceeding four persons or for the use of the pullout, and we also offer a complimentary fold-up play crib.

Please shut both front doors and have window closed so the smoke does not enter the cabin, and thank you!

And, for those looking to explore the lake, we provide a canoe for your adventures, along with fishing poles for a delightful day of angling. Kept at the cabin is a stand-up paddleboard that can be carted to the lake's shoreline; we also supply oars, and standard sized life jackets. Please note- You are responsible for your family's safety, and using any trail or watersport provided, you are doing so "At your own risk".
The canoe, SUP and BBQ are not available from the end of October until mid-Spring.

Due to the unique landscape, trash companies are unable to use their hydraulic lifts to pick up containers, so we ask that all guests please use the dumpsters located on the main road for your trash disposal. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our community clean and beautiful.

We’re pet-friendly! One to two dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, pets are not allowed on the furniture or linens, please ensure they are crated if left alone in the cabin; always under your control; picked up after outside; any flea and tick issues resolved before your stay.

A cute cabin with an ideal location. It is easy to find, and it is just off the county road with plenty of parking space. Vallecito Lake is directly across the street as well as the boat marina where you can rent a pontoon, kayak, paddle board, and more. The front porch offers beautiful views of the mountain and lake, and you can even enjoy the lakeside view from the dining table. There are country markets up the road, hiking trails, a restaurant, and plenty of water activities to enjoy. In the winter, enjoy ice fishing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and more. Durango is about 25 minutes from Durango during the summer and about 35 to 40 min during the winter, depending on snowpack.

Built on a rocky hill overlooking the lake, this home is a half-tree house, half cabin, and total happiness. It is comfortable in size with over 1,088 square feet for your enjoyment and two decks for stargazing every evening on both the first and second floors : )

Please note Starry Nights is a historic cabin and has its unique charm. One important characteristic to mention is that the staircase to the second floor is 24 inches wide. This adds to the rustic feel of the cabin, but we want to ensure all guests are aware for safety and comfort. If you have any questions or concerns about the layout, feel free to reach out!

Comfortable Accommodations: The cabin features two cozy bedrooms on the second floor, each with a queen-size bed and a half bathroom in between. A sectional couch on the first floor can accommodate 1-2 persons with a $35 linen fee for Guests numbers above 4persons or use of the sleeper couch.

Modern Amenities: Stay comfortable year-round with forced air heating in all rooms, each bedroom on the second floor has a small fan, and there is a window air conditioner and a 16" oscillating pedestal stand fan on the first floor.

The main floor of our cabin is designed to provide you with all the comforts of home. It features a fully equipped kitchen with a five-burner stove, stocked with just about everything you will need for your creative culinary skills, and a dining area that seats up to six with amazing views! Plus, a full bathroom adds to the convenience, ensuring you have everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable getaway!

Entertainment Options: Relax in the living area adorned with a 32” flat-screen TV, Netflix, and complimentary Wi-Fi. We also have a selection of board games for traditional fun! There is a fireplace to cozy into the evening and is perfect for relaxing with a good book or unwinding.

Outdoor Adventures: For those of us who love lakes and ponderosa pines combined, this cabin is a hillside and a perfect place to relax and take in the mountain air. Enjoy evenings by listening to the sounds of the water and wind in the trees, and explore the magical skies all around.

Take advantage of two complimentary kayaks, (to access kayaks, you will use a boat boarding ladder) life jackets, and oars for your lakefront experience. Explore the beautiful shoreline and walk down the private deer trail (which can be steep at points). You are responsible for your family's safety- "At your own risk". If you choose to participate in any of these activities and use the trail to the lake - you do so at your own risk.

We’re pet-friendly! One to two dogs are welcome for a $50 fee, pets are not allowed on the furniture or linens, please ensure they are crated if left alone in the cabin; always under your control; picked up after outside; any flea and tick issues resolved before your stay.

My top priority is to provide you with a comfortable cabin, stocked with just about everything you'll need, while you explore all that Vallecito Lake and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Our small neighborhood has many majestic trees and because of this trash companies cannot use their hydraulic lift to pick up containers, all cabins use dumpsters on the main road and guests are responsible for taking their trash out.

- "Great little cabin with a beautiful view. There are a couple of cabins pretty close by which some of them are rentals as well. We stayed a week and unfortunately during the weekend, Saturday night and Sunday as well as the following Friday night there were some pretty loud people in one of the rentals which became really annoying. During the week it was quiet as can be so if that is what you are looking for, definitely book Monday through Thursday. The lake is not crowded at all so perfect for paddle boarding and kayaking. There is a gorgeous hike only 15 minutes away from the cabin with incredible views. The skies are stunning at night, easy access to the lake and just a wonderful place to relax."
