Rustic flagstone flooring and aspen tongue and groove ceiling. The natural world seamlessly blends into this unique home.
Kitchen, dining area, living room, and workspace with 20 meg internet. Wood and propane fireplaces. Shared courtyard with owner -- breathtaking views.
- "It's a rare treat to be on acres of land and open space such that surrounds this home. More than anything, the house has a peaceful, welcoming feel. Not too fancy schmancy, but not run down. It was very clean, which is often a wild card with short rentals. I enjoyed the unimpeded views of the Sangre de Cristos as well as the range on the other side of the valley. Crestone has not one but two grocery stores, and a hardware store! I guess my only warning is: Bring your own honey. Of the spices and staples the hosts provide at this house, I did not find sugar or honey. "

Property opener was very responsive to our inquiries before arriving. All communication was timely. We did have a difficult time with mosquitos. We were there the first week of July. Local merchants indicated this year was the worse they ever experienced. This difficulty had nothing to do with the property or the owner. It simply was an environmental inconvenience. - "We wanted to get away and this was a lovely place to do it." - "The cabin was very comfortable and the host made it very enjoyable. A microwave oven would have been nice but we made it fine without one." - "Sweet little cabin in an interesting location. The views were spectacular. Wish we had brought our binoculars! Comfy bed, nice kitchen and dining area. Windy and chilly, but sunny for the first part of our week. Cabin was very restful and quiet. Wish there were comfortable patio chairs as we love being outside and it got warmer at the end of the week. No restaurants were open in town when we arrived, despite online info. One opened Wednesday, and others were scheduled to open next week for the summer. The hot springs in the area were great, especially the one in Hooper. It also has wonderful food in the Garden Room. The sand dunes are fun, and huge. Lots of hiking nearby."

- "By far my favorite VRBO I’ve had the pleasure to stay and I’ve booked many! It was immaculate, well appointed and wonderful attention to detail! The views are incredible and it’s quiet and peaceful. Perfect location for Great Sand Dunes National Park and so much more! Crestone is a lovely town and I plan on returning and will book again! If I could give 10 stars I would!" - "Quiet and clean, just the right size for me on a solo retreat. Highly recommend. Couple slight bits of feedback- arriving at night, the specific parking space for the vrbo rental unit was hard to find. I didn't see the signage until the next morning. Also, I texted the property manager at one point with an issue and did not receive a reply. But was able to sort the issue out on my own. Would like to have heard back from her though."

I have been to this area many, many times, and have stayed in many VRBO's. This is the best!" - "The setting is lovely and quiet. The casita clean, comfortable, and efficiently set up. Every detail is considered aesthetically. The path to the casita is gravel with a few stone steps, which could be a bit challenging for someone who is mobile compromised, but not an issue for the average person. I would definitely stay again!"

This is a peaceful little getaway with a lot of options. The home is nestled in the trees right on the Willow Creek Greenbelt, with a trail, ancient trees, and babbling Willow creek. The greenbelt is accessed from the back of the lot. Amidst the beautiful juniper, piñon, and ponderosa pines on the lot are beautiful mountain views from the back yard and the house. It a perfect place to reconnect with nature. There is a very comfortable large living room with stairs to the bedroom that has a peaceful patio for your morning tea or coffee. The living room goes into the kitchen/dining room area and also the bathroom. The property is surrounded by beautiful trees and mountain views from the bedroom. The bedroom is on the second floor and there is a steep staircase (with a sturdy hand rail) to get to it.
- "What a great little place! We loved our stay here. We were just wanting a nice, quiet getaway and the Hummingbird Hacienda was the perfect place for us. The kitchen was well set up and provided all we needed to make meals. The neighborhood was quiet which made our stay very relaxing. The loft bedroom was comfortable but if you want to sleep in, bring your sleep mask as it’s full of natural light in the morning. We had a wonderful stay!" - "Very cute place for two of us. Clean. Darling one bed/one bath place. Private. Trail behind house is a bit rough- east to get lost. Not a true “trail”. We found the creek though. Zipline there but we did not use that. Nearby Crestone is 5-7 minutes away to grab some food. Fire pit outside was great for a quiet evening to relax. Pre-stocked wood was a bonus. FYI: Great Sand Dunes and multiple hiking trails at that park and Zapata falls are a full 55 minute drive away."

- "The Crestone area is a really special part of the Rockies. The abobe manor was a great way to connect with this amazing locale for us. The house had fantastic views of both the valley and the mountains, especially from the back patio and upstairs balconies. Inside, the house was beautifully furnished with comfortable beds, couches, outdoor seating, and locally-inspired art. The kitchen was well equipped. The upstairs lounge/balcony spaces and patio out back offer a lot of room to spread out. The pool table in the adjacent home office/garage building was also a nice touch. While my sons and I were there, we visited the dunes, hot springs (we visited Joyous Journeys), and the Arkansas River/Texas Creek area, as well as Crestone itself. I highly recommend visiting here. Large house in Crestone nestled in the cottonwoods surrounded by 20 acres and nature preserve, amazing mountain views. Bring your whole family or group of friends and be comfortable in this spacious house that sleeps up to 12. Unique features include a sunroom with 20+ year old geraniums and herb garden; a steam shower in the large master; an exercise room with treadmill, free weights and room for movement/yoga; and a Native American Medicine Wheel on the land. Nature and dark skies are calling!
The space
There are 5 bedrooms - 4 rooms with traditional beds, and 1 office room with a double pull-out couch with memory foam. There is an additional small single pull-out couch in the living room.
There is an open spiral staircase and the upper level of the house has wider spaced railings NOT SUITABLE for small children such as crawlers and toddlers because it may be a falling risk. For bringing in larger luggage there is a deck staircase that is easier to maneuver.
Full kitchen - with gas stove and large refrigerator - that is well stocked to make any meal - just bring the ingredients. Salt, pepper, oil, sugar, and spices are all here. We are spoiled with great-tasting well water that we drink straight from the tap.
This house is meant for relaxation and a pause from the hustle and bustle. Strengthen and move in the exercise room. Relax and unwind in the sunroom beside the plants and soak your feet in a copper bath with fresh geranium petals. Listen to music with Bluetooth speakers.

And lastly, this has been our beloved family home and we share it with you so that we may keep coming back, thank you for choosing to stay here. We hope you feel at home too and come back again and again.

This property will provide you with hours, days, even weeks of peaceful solitude. In a quiet neighborhood at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains the structure was built by an American Lama in the Tibetan tradition and was subsequently sold to an American student in the Tibetan tradition in the early 90s. Therefore the space has a sacredness about it that is difficult to find in this commercialized world.
The space
We encourage practitioners of all contemplative traditions to utilize this space for their retreats/practice. Hiking is available alongside nearby Cottonwood Creek, and there is National Forest close by as well as the Liberty Trail which allows you to hike directly to the Great Sand Dunes National Park. The space is compact, but there is a spot for a yoga mat on the floor.
All windows have linen curtains, and main window in the bedroom has a black out curtain. Due to the absence of city lights and the high elevation of Crestone, the stars are exceptionally bright in the night sky. Crestone is a Dark Sky Community.
The Location:
This home is located in the Baca Grande, just 5 minutes to the Town of Crestone where you will find 3 restaurants, 2 very good small grocery stores, a liquor store, post office, gas station, bank with ATM, hardware store, and a few assorted shops and cafe's.

There is parking for one car in the driveway. An additional vehicle can park on the street. A short walk of about 100 feet through the garden takes you to the private entrance of the studio. The terrain is a bit uneven, made of dirt and flagstone, and there are steps. It is not wheelchair accessible.

Other things to note
*This is a “Granny Unit” located about 100 feet from where you will park. You will need to walk on a dirt and flagstone path to arrive at the studio.
*The studio is located within the garden, about 30 feet from the main house. It has a private entrance, small semi private patio and a privacy fence between the two houses, but we are close. You may see or hear me watering, weeding or harvesting during gardening season (June- October) This also means your space will have fresh flowers when you arrive!
*To support the retreat environment, there is no TV provided, but there is good WIFI
*We cannot allow pets of any kind. There is a cat on the property and much wildlife around.
*The space is only enough for two guests who want to share a bed.
*We ask guests to respect quiet hours after 10 pm both inside and outside. Noise travels and we want to keep our neighbors happy so we can continue to make this space available for guests like you!
*There is not a washer or dryer in the studio. For stays longer than a week we can discuss using the machines in the main house for a small fee. The town of Crestone has a laundromat behind the Crestone Mercantile.

Futon in adjacent living room can be laid down as a bed for a third person (bamboo mattress cover, sheets, blankets, and comforter are available).
Your private bathroom with a shower is straight ahead as you walk in. My bedroom and bathroom are upstairs.
Guest access
DO NOT BOOK IF YOU WILL BE LEAVING OR ENTERING AFTER 10 PM INCLUDING DURING YOUR STAY. The dogs will bark and wake me and the neighbors.
DO NOT LEAVE THE FRONT DOOR OPEN AT ANY TIME. I have a dog that is an escape artist and could easily be hit by a car. Also, please communicate your ETA and give me a heads up when you are headed back so I can make sure she is safely kenneled.
You may access the shared areas except the sunroom because it is my office and the dog kennels.
Feel free to use the kitchen, eat in the dining room, and sit on the couch in the living room. You may use the washer and dryer when it’s otherwise not in use if you use natural products (feel free to use the detergent I have available).
Guest shelves and shared food is labeled in the fridge.
You are welcome to peruse the bookshelf in the living room and read books from there during your stay. Please do not take the books away from the house.
Please clean up after yourself.
Check out time is 11 am. Late check out at noon available some days upon request. Check out past noon will incur an additional fee of $30 via the app.
During your stay
Airbnb guidelines are that guests check and respond to messages before and during their stay. Guests who are not respectful communicators or do not follow the house rules will be asked to find other accommodations. I wish I didn't have to say that and I've had guests who have not read the listing or welcome message, and have not responded to messages. We live in the home. Please respect our time, energy, and space.
I go to bed at 10 pm and can hear the kitchen and shower. Please be considerate and plan to complete check-in and any showering and kitchen activities by 10 pm.
I would love to offer local recommendations to enhance your stay. Please check out the guidebooks I’ve created on AirBnB and let me know if you have questions.
