- "I was in town for a very short period of time, but the Lamp Post Lodge was perfect. Easy access and everything worked flawlessly. The views are reason enough to come back!" - "Nice big room. No AC installed yet. Room was 78 degrees when I got there. Lots of goodies in the room. Hot water heating plate is used to make instant coffee. Tv channels available leave something to desire. Clean-self check-in. Owners responded to my text on temp right away. Shared kitchen in main area. It’s my second stay there. Not a lot of options in Westcliffe but this is probably the best for the $$."

- "What a beautiful home. We had everything we needed, from a fully stocked kitchen to all the toiletries we would need. Sitting on the large deck out back gives an incredible view of the mountains. And just off of the deck, is a gas firepit which we sat around at night and gazed at the stars. Very peaceful!" - "I cannot say enough good things about this place. It was incredibly clean, the best view, and the details in the build of the home and the little amenities they offered guests made it feel so luxe. These people absolutely know how to do a vacation rental correctly. Also, the stars in the middle of the night took our breath away with the added bonus of it being completely silent at all times of the day. There is a grocery store in the small town that you drive through to get to the home where you can stock up on all of the essentials, there’s also an incredible coffee shop and another delicious breakfast place in that town. I have nothing negative to say about the location or the home and I would absolutely come back."

Enjoy easy access to this charming Colorado mountain town with a stay in this equally charming Westcliffe Guest Suite near downtown and only a 10 minute walk to the Bluff with its amazing views of the Sangre de Cristos.
This is a "shared house" listing in a beautifully remodeled and updated historic cottage in Westcliffe. You will have your own private entrance to the 4-room suite consisting of 2 bedrooms, combined living room with fireplace and kitchenette/dining area, and bathroom. The space is separated from the owner's quarters by a curtain and child gate. Guests enjoy privacy in the rented Guest Suite space. As in any shared house, there may be occasional carry-over noise from the owner's quarters, including occasional barking from the owner's friendly pup. As clearly described in the listing, the kitchenette is NOT a full kitchen, but similar to what is in a hotel room -- microwave, mini-frig with freezer, Keurig, water dispenser, and a 4-person dinette table. We are in a high altitude valley in the Colorado Rockies where snow is sometimes an issue. The private patio is available year-round unless there is too much snow.
The Guest Suite includes one private bedroom with queen bed, 2nd bedroom with single-over-double bunk bed, living room with gas fireplace and smart TV, mini-kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, Keurig and dining table), and a full bathroom with both a shower and a claw-foot tub. The suite is the full front part of the house, separated from the entirely separate living quarters of the owner by a gate and curtain. Parking is in front of the house, with additional diagonal parking available on the intersecting side street.
Westcliffe is a small, quiet and engaging mountain community whose residents treasure its long ranching and mining history, the surrounding mountains, and the wide open Wet Mountain Valley within which it is located. The altitude of Westcliffe is 7,887 feet above sea level and it is surrounded by mountains, several of which are among the highest in Colorado, soaring to over 14,000 feet. The nearby Rainbow Trail offers great hiking opportunity for all levels of ability. Westcliffe is an internationally certified Dark Sky Community with a rich community calendar of numerous music festivals, other live music, live theater and art festivals year-round. The home sits on a quiet corner in a residential neighborhood one block off Westcliffe's Main Street. A newly renovated small city park is one block away on the corner of Main (Hiway 96) and 4th Street with flower gardens, a pavilion and seating. A larger city park with a playground, ball field, two small pavilions and bathroom facilities is three blocks away in the other direction. Across the street from there is yet another city park with a larger pavilion, playing field, and tennis courts. Bluff Park with its amazing wide open views of the Wet Mountain Valley and Sangre de Cristo mountain range is an easy 4 block walk westward. There you will also find Smokey Jack Observatory that hosts star-viewing parties and public events. Bluff Park is also the location of Westcliffe's famous High Mountain Hayfever Bluegrass Festival held every July, as well as other live events. All of downtown Westcliffe is available with an easy stroll. Within easy walking distance, you'll find unique restaurants and eating establishments, pubs, coffee shops, art galleries, a bowling alley, grocery store, liquor store, florist and gift shop, bakeries, two thrift stores, the vibrant local library and shopping for jewelry, outdoor gear, clothing, gifts, and local souvenirs. Several churches are also within easy walking distance.

- "Was visiting family in town, was the perfect place to stay. Couldn't recommend more!" - "Overall great place but too many distractions. Internet pass word ridiculous complex as example." - "This property was not as advertised. The first thing you see when you click on the listing is "Entire Home" this is not the case. It is the front half of a home that someone lives in full time, only separated by a curtain and a baby gate. There was no privacy and no way to completely lock or secure our "rental". We were completely shocked when arrived to find all of this out as again, the listing states "Entire Home" and also says "You will not share this home with anyone else that is not in your property." We would have never booked this nor paid the price we did had we known the actual situation. The whole living room was covered in pet hair and the floor was dirty. The "Kitchenette" was just a mini microwave and mini fridge. Also the listing stated that there was a washer and dryer available and also an outdoor area, all which were not available and/or listed as Private. Late at night the owner was in the kitchen, which was on the other side of the curtain "divider" making tons of noise and cooking food. It woke our children. Overall the house was cute, but not at all what we had paid for or were expecting. "

- "We picked this cabin because it was surrounded by trees and had a small stream just off the back deck. The cabin wasn't huge or too small, just comfy, it was quiet, with the exception of the small stream which we enjoyed. We saw numerous deer, squirrels and a small bird landed on the deck railing two feet away where we were sitting. It rained every afternoon and evening during our 2 1/2 day stay which was unusual according to our friends we were visiting. Before the rain showers, we sat on the deck visiting and enjoying nature. We hope to stay again here again on our next visit"

- "I booked this VRBO for a family vacation with my elder mom, nephew, and his girlfriend! We take a yearly trip to the wet mountain valley so always looking for new best options for our stay!! Nephew and girlfriend stayed in the basement living area! My mom took the main floor room with the crib, and I took the master! We still had the loft area that was unused - plenty of space!! Master was fantastic and super roomy! It was nice having my own bathroom space! Mom had the bathroom next to her room for convenience, and the nephew used the bathroom in the basement except for showers! Checkin was super easy and straight forward! Communication with the owner was pleasant and efficient! We spent most nights either playing the provided board games or looking through the provided telescope! Fully stocked pantry and all the condiments in the fridge you could possibly want! A nice bottle of wine was provided as a welcome and baskets of candy and chips! Truly lovely, beautiful, roomy, and easy stay!! Thanks so much for opening your home! I look forward to our next stay!!"

The house is comfortable and well supplied. You won't find a more responsive, friendly and agreeable host than Bob. We loved our stay at this lovely place." - "We brought our two mules to enjoy the spectacular trails in the Wet Mountain Valley. We were more concerned about the accommodations for our animals than those for ourselves. No reason for concern though! Bob described both options well and made sure our animals had multiple suitable options. Everything was perfect—the guest house, the barn, the public trails, and even riding off the property on our “rest” day. Bob was a helpful and informative host. We will be back for sure."

An ideal getaway spot for those seeking solitude and a great basecamp for all your mountain adventures.
The Mountain House sits atop Tonso Peak on 70 acres of pine and aspen forest. This is a mountain setting yet very accessible. We are located just four miles from paved road and accessed via county-maintained roads, making year-round access one of its best features.
Guest access:
Guests will have access to the entire house and patio area as well as the forested grounds. Take a walk on our 2-miles of hiking trails and enjoy the birds and wildlife that inhabit the area. There are closets and dressers in the bedrooms for guest use. Help yourself to any of the food items and spices in the kitchen cabinets.
Interaction with guests:
I like to give people their space but am available to assist when needed. I do not live on the property full time but will sometimes be staying in the guesthouse nearby while I am working around the property. If I am not present I will be reachable by cell phone.
Other things to note:
Google maps is OK as far as the subdivision gate. After that it is incorrect. VRBO will send you detailed driving directions the day before your arrival. Please use these directions to make sure you don't have any trouble getting here.
A note for winter guests: There are a couple of things you should know if you plan to book with us between Nov 1 - May 1. Our guest house sits at 8900 ft. elevation. Although we do not get lots of snow until spring, we often get a few inches at a time throughout the winter and while we do have road maintenance, it may be icy in spots and difficult or impossible for a rear wheel drive vehicle to make it up our lane. I strongly recommend you have a front wheel drive or four wheel drive vehicle to get here during the winter months.

- "Matt is a great host, very communicative and sent perfect directions on how to get to the house. The views from the house are the best! We watched the sunset every single evening. Great location - quiet and tucked away in a valley that is close to hiking, off roading, and Bishop Castle. The bed was super comfortable and we have already talked about coming back to work remotely. The hiking trail on property was great - easy to navigate and showed off the property well. We saw SO much wildlife and loved the hummingbirds and chipmunks especially. We bought extra birdseed to be able to keep feeding them! Our favorite part was the night sky - seeing the Milky Way, a lightening storm in the distance, and air glow phenomenon was incredible."

- "As usual, the cabin was clean and welcoming. We love the views on every side. The deer and swallows and bluebirds are just an added bonus!" - "This property was everything advertised and more. All the little touches, like hooks in the bathrooms to hang clothes, we’re greatly appreciated. The views were phenomenal. We absolutely loved it." - "With so much to do within any direction this house was a perfect fit for us. There are restaurant options and a small grocery store in town, most places close at 8. I do wish that the bedroom upstairs had blinds/tint or something on the skylights. If you want to sleep in, that isn’t the room for you, it also gets pretty warm up there compared to the rest of the house. We got to watch deer daily in the morning and evenings and it was an very quiet area. The house was well stocked with all necessities and check in/out was a breeze!"

- "This is a private, secluded, quiet location with wonderful views. The home is very well appointed and has many amenities" - "The home was perfect for my family. It was well stocked, very clean, and the setting was spectacular. The summer sun and heat was significant so having an umbrella or awning for front deck would be useful. Otherwise, very enjoyable. We’ll be back!" - "We cannot say enough good things about our stay! The setting is absolutely beautiful. The house was spotless and so well appointed. We had everything we needed to enjoy our time together. It was one of the best rental experiences we have had to date. Should we ever have occasion/opportunity to return to the area, we would definitely book again."

- "This was our 3rd time staying at Moose Manor. It is an awesome property and Westcliffe is a beautiful area to explore. We will definitely go back again!!! Marino and Herrera families." - "It's obvious the owner cares about the quality of their guest's stay because there was nothing left to chance. Everything we wanted was right at our finger tips. Literally everything. It was a relaxing, fantastic experience and we're looking forward to a return visit in the future. Our only comment -- DSL Internet is terrible. We're a tech heavy family and only one of us to connect to the wireless and browse at a time. Please consider Starlink - it's a game changer in rural areas. ;)"

- "This place was amazing. It is away from the bustle of town yet within a few minutes drive to Westcliffe. We were frequented by deer, rabbits, and even some turkeys. We did some hiking which was close by and spent lots of time playing inside and outside games. We had no complaints about the house or the view and the owner was easy to contact and communicate with. This was our first time using VRBO and Mrs. Madeleine made it easy to do. We will definitely be coming back."

Experience the natural beauty of the vast meadows and panoramic views of the Sangre de Cristos and Wet Mountains. Our open and airy mountain getaway is located two hours and 45 minutes from Denver. Unwind at this rural and tranquil retreat just 15 minutes outside of historic Westcliffe, CO one of the most scenic and charming mountains towns in the West. Experience the Alpenglow at sunrise, stunning sunsets, and unparalleled stargazing under the world's highest elevation International Dark Skies.
Alpenglow - an atmospheric optical phenomenon which makes mountains appear to glow in a light pink or red hue. It occurs just after the sun sets or just before it rises. This is one of the most majestic sights to experience. The alpenglow over the Sangre de Cristo’s is specular! Sangre de Cristo is Spanish for “Blood of Christ” and are the southernmost subrange of the Rocky Mountains. The name of the mountains may refer to the reddish hues observed during sunrise and sunset, and when alpenglow occurs, especially when the mountains are covered in snow.
Other things to note:
Newly installed split units offer air conditioning! Not always needed at this elevation, but it is a welcomed luxury when the temperature rises.

Property sits on 14 acres with an access gate. The common road is shared with the larger Cabin property. Guests can use the entire lower 14 acres. There is privacy gate with lock.
Other things to note
-This is an older rustic cabin in the forest. That means it’s not going to be some fancy, matching towels type of AirBnb. It’s clean, has everything you need. It is fully stocked with essentials and most likely has a full pantry. Guests can leave canned or unopened food items. Just remove open or perishables. Guests are welcome to take or leave as needed. 👍
-Smart TV. You need to have a hotspot to watch channels. You can also bring a Firestick and use that. There are several movie DVD’s onsite and can be watched on the TV.
- Cell Service. AT&T has several towers in the Valley. You will usually have 1 or 2 bars at the Cottage. Verizon is in the valley down the mountain, but doesn’t reach to the Cottage.
-Campfires. Wood fires are NOT allowed on the property. Fire risk in the forest is just to high. If you have a gas unit, you are welcome to bring it.
-Hunting. No hunting of any kind is allowed on property or access to National Forest for hunting.

Enjoy this charming Colorado mountain town a short walk from the quaint downtown and Bluff with amazing views of the Sangre de Cristos. This is a shared house listing; owner lives on property. The Guest Suite includes a bedroom with queen bed, 2nd bedroom with single-over-full bunk bed, living room with gas fireplace and smart TV, mini-kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, water cooler, Keurig and dining table), bathroom with shower and tub, and access to courtyard, weather dependent.
The space
The Guest Suite you will be renting is part of a shared-house listing. I live in a separate part of the house. You will have a private entrance and exclusive private access to The Guest Suite.
The house is a bungalow style home with an interesting connection to local mining history. The Guest Suite was originally two separate miner's cabins from the late 1800's that were moved from the old mining towns of nearby Silvercliffe and Rosita then combined into a single dwelling, and later remodeled and enlarged into a beautiful modern home. A history was retained of the original combined dwelling and subsequent modifications, including interesting historical artifacts that were found in the process of remodeling that have been preserved and are available for viewing.
I am an experienced AirBnb Host with a prior long history of Super Host status managing a previously owned property in Wisconsin. This property is Town of Westcliffe approved as a short-term-rental, License #24-082724.
Guest access
Guests have private access to the entire front part of my house (the Guest Suite). Guests have a private entrance through the front door off the front porch. The front entry way is barrier free from the driveway. Accessible parking is available upon request.
The Guest Suite has two private bedrooms. The front bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has a twin-over-double bunkbed, sleeping up to 3 in that room. The living room has a gas fireplace, smart TV, high speed internet, comfortable seating, a stately antique Steinway grand piano that experienced piano players are welcome to use, and a small dining and kitchenette area with microwave, Keurig, mini-frig with freezer, water dispenser, and dining table. The full bathroom has both a shower and a clawtooth bathtub. The front porch is available for guest private use, and the comfortable courtyard is also available for use during warmer months, weather dependent. The courtyard is shared use with the owner.
Private laundry facilities are available for use upon request and prior arrangement for a reasonable additional cost.
There is plenty of free street parking in front of the house, and additional free diagonal parking is available on the intersecting side street. The garage and driveway are typically not available for guest use; however, upon request accessible parking on the driveway with barrier free entry is available.
I share my life and house with my sweet and friendly 3 year old border collie. While she will not have access to the Guest Suite during your stay, if anyone in your party has pet dander allergies or a fear of active medium-sized dogs, you should choose someplace else to stay. There may also be normal and very occasional barking.
The Guest Suite you will be renting is part of a shared-house listing. I live in a separate part of the house. You will have a private entrance and exclusive private access to The Guest Suite. The entire front of the house is the guest suite, separated by a gate and curtain from the private owners quarters. My living quarters are in the back part of the house. NOT AVAILBLE FOR GUEST USE: my kitchen; the backyard; the driveway and garage; and my living quarters.
I am an experienced AirBnb Host with a long history of Super Host status managing a previously owned property in Wisconsin. Check out many prior guest reviews!
Other things to note
In my opinion, Westcliffe is the sweetest, friendliest and most engaging small Colorado mountain town you could ever visit, with amazing access to the best the Colorado Rockies have to offer with far less of the crowds you'll find in mountain towns closer to Denver.
Visitors to Westcliffe should be aware that some of Westcliffe's shops, restaurants and other features are seasonal, that is open for business only during Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. The Colorado winter in Westcliffe has its own charm and beauty, but you can not count on consistent availability of all restaurants and shopping. Even during Spring, Summer and Fall seasons, hours of local establishments may vary from what is posted.
If you know you have specific needs or interests, call those establishments ahead of time to assure they will be open during your stay.
Town streets are well maintained throughout the winter by the Town of Westcliffe and the famous Colorado sun does a superb job of melting snow and brightening the winter days even after a significant snowfall. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 14°F to 80°F but is rarely below 3°F or above 86°F. Perfect for lovers of the four seasons! Fall colors are amazing.
For detailed information about weather patterns in Westcliffe, consult online weather resources such as Weather Spark.

PET STAYS PLEASE READ. We have 4 dog-friendly spaces…Little Brick Lodge, Mountain Hideaway, The Avenue Suite, and The Blue Skies Suite. By law trained service dogs are allowed in any space (see below) We do NOT allow cats or any other animals.
Guests traveling with their pet MUST advise us and agree to be charged $55 for up to two dogs per stay. If you have a highly shedding breed or if there is extra heavy pet use during the stay, you may be charged $75, $95, or cost of damages
Because we do love our furry guests, we ask that no animals be left alone in an accommodation so as to avoid damage, and/or whining/barking due to scared pets in an unfamiliar space. We allow dogs so you can vacation WITH your furry friend, not so you can leave your pet alone all day or evening. If you feel you have a situation meriting a different consideration, please just reach out to the owner/manager, Bianca. You will be called if complaints are received and must return immediately to handle your pet situation or the reservation may be canceled without refund.
Please do not try to sneak pets in thinking we can’t tell, as that creates an uncomfortable situation for us all.
We leave a basket of old towels and sheets to help cover furnishings to protect against hair, dirt, and towels for muddy feet… please help us keep our pet cleaning fees low by using these, and please DO NOT wash pets in our bathrooms
Service animals, which are individually trained to perform tasks for those with disabilities, are allowed in ALL spaces and, by law, are not required to pay a pet fee. In consideration of those with allergies and the extra cleaning required, we kindly ask guests to make an effort to book one of our dog-friendly spaces first if available/possible and let us know so we can account for extra cleaning time. We are legally permitted to ask: 1. Whether the guest requires their service animal because of a disability, 2. What work or task the service animal has been trained to perform.
Emotional support animals are NOT considered service animals under the ADA or Colorado law. So we welcome them in any of our 4 dog-friendly spaces only. Pet cleaning fees DO apply for emotional support animals.

Traveling with a small group coming to hike, bike, or relax and enjoy the area? Have a family that wants to sleep together and not rent more than one room or large house? Just wanna enjoy a cool fun vibe and take a break from "adulting" for a couple of days? This Modern Retro bunkhouse will be just right for your needs. We started with a custom built extra large bunk with a king bed on the bottom and a queen on the top..... steps instead of a ladder, and brand new Ashley mattress with fluffy bedding. Then we created a roomy, fun and cushy sitting area, a large flat screen TV, and an extra pull out bed (upgraded to memory foam mattress). A modernized dorm style bathroom with two showers, two vanity sinks, a third mirror space, a toilet "room", washer/dryer and utility sink all make getting ready in a group smooth and fun! And of course we have included a breakfast nook and bench style eating space to get each day started right.
If another child or adult wanted to use the other couch as a sleeping space we are OK with that, but we feel that 6 is a max of people that we would be comfortable having use this room.
Ravens' Off Main, Modern/Retro Bunkhouse is in a quieter, darker part of Westcliffe just four walkable blocks to Main Street. Enjoy this top notch newly remodeled Colorado Property, beautifully decorated with vintage and retro fun finds, walking distance from downtown and local events. This beautiful little town features one of the grandest views of the Rocky Mountains and the Sangre de Christo range you will find, true dark skies for star gazing, a plethora of summer and fall activities, and much more within just an hour of town. There are dozens of high altitude lakes to hike, mountain bike trails galore, horse back riding, shopping, and great food... as well as peace and quiet when desired. We are just 45 minutes from white water rafting companies, the town of Salida, two hours from the sand dunes, and for winter skiing an hour and a half from Monarch Ski area. Surrounded by ranches, local small farms, and strong Amish / Mennonite communities there is a wonderful blend of lifestyles.
This property is so special and unique as it is was once built as a rec house and lodge for the ski area once proposed on the mountain side. Although that never came to fruition, this neat building was built and spent a few decades changing identities, always giving hospitality to visitors. We have now been able to create four different and spacious guest spaces in a quiet and dark residential area, each with a very unique feeling to them.
The town is perfect, close to everything a Colorado enthusiast and lover of outdoors would want to be close to, convenient to get to, and yet just far enough away from the overcrowding, which is taking over much of the rest of the state, away from here.
Come and enjoy small town Colorado!

It's rare to find a place that's both historic and one-of-a-kind. Stay in the rooms above the historic depot where the Train Station Agent lived between 1901 and 1937 during the operation of the Denver and Rio Grande's Westcliffe Branch Line. Just a block west is the view that helped give the D&RG the tag line "The Scenic Line of the World." Watson’s Red House on 3rd Street is a comfortable and conveniently located home in the heart of Westcliffe, and close walk to town center. From the home and spacious yard are commanding views of 14,000 peaks. Red house is not your typical “spec” vacation rental since we use it frequently as our family's 2nd home. Instead Red House represents more of a complete home away from home that is a truly special spot to enjoy and stay that is comfy and well stocked. Yes! - we have Wifi and a King Bed!
The space
For those who need to “stay connected” during their stay, there is Century Link DSL/Wi-Fi for your use.
For a great night’s sleep, we went all-out on the beds - The main bedroom features a “King-size” Serta 5-star rated firm Sapphire II mattress. Sheets as well as pillow cases are 500 Pima thread count. Likewise both twin beds situated in bedroom #2 have top-rated firm Serta Sapphire II mattresses and premium 500 thread count pima cotton sheets. Comforters on all beds are “down alternative” duvets we chose from Pottery Barn. Likewise the pillows, that we love, are top drawer – we selected Isotonic Indulgence “down alternative” for all the beds.
The home has newer floors, and fresh paint throughout. Decor includes botanical prints of Colorado mountain wildflowers, and James Audubon prints of some of Colorado’s native birds and other wildlife.
Bathroom #1 is cheery with yellow painted walls, and has a separate shower, tub and tile flooring. Plush Kate Spade “New York” bath towels.
Bathroom #2 features just a shower and commode (no tub). Plush Kate Spade “New York” bath towels.
The living room is graced with a Vermont Castings glass front/live flame gas fireplace to add ambiance and warmth to this gathering and living space. There is a comfortable leather sofa from The Orvis Company Collection, firm wing chairs and a glass-top coffee table repurposed from a bicycle wheel. There is an antique cherry-wood dining table in the living room with beautiful lacquered cane chairs. (It’s my parents first dining table from post WWII; my breakfast table growing up)
There is a Roku smart TV in the living room if you want to catch a game or watch a night movie using either the “free Roku channels” or order a flick your Netflix account.
Our large “game room” is a fun gathering place with a round-oak game table and upright lacquered cane chairs.
Home heat is provided via a central forced air furnace.
The kitchen is well stocked with basic pantry items, pots, pans and dishware.

A note on cleaning: We use a professional cleaning service after each booking. Sometimes it could be a week or two between guests and during that period it is possible for a fly or spider to make its way into the house and die. I have received unfair negative feedback in the past from people claiming the house was not cleaned because they found a dead fly or two in the house. Please be careful not to rush to judgement on such things. Unfair negative feedback is very detrimental in this endeavor.
