- "I appreciated having a place to stay for 5 days. I was in town for a funeral. We upgraded to a cabin from a standard king room due to space. It was rustic and cute, and provided a safe place for us to sleep. The entire property is really pretty, and it’s great that this is a pet-friendly lodge! This message is more for the new company that owns Elkhorn Lodge: I sincerely hope you put earnest investment into this lodge. There is SO much potential there. Along with that, it would behoove you to treat—and pay— the manager/employees well. I imagine it is hard to find help in Chama because the population has decreased drastically, but what few you have will be running and representing Elkhorn, and it’s best to take care of them; as well as the property. The property needs some TLC but it is well worth it! "

- "The property was beautiful. We weren’t looking to be Chama tourists-just needed a little getaway to recharge, and this place was perfect. We loved the dogs too!" - "Beautiful spot, comfortable stay, super friendly and attentive ownership. Will be back!" - "Thank you for hosting!" - "My husband and I enjoyed out stay on this property. It is in a beautiful and relaxing setting. The poppies were in bloom when we were there and it was lovely. The hosts were exceptional. The room was charmingly appointed and just as in the photos. We were at the end of the upstairs balcony with our two Standard Poodles and the host graceously put out a little foldable gate, so we could keep the door open when we wanted and the dogs wouldn't go wandering along the balcony. It worked great. I have two recommendations. First the matress was super sinking soft, too soft, and I did awake with back pain and had to stretch the kinks out. Second, I think a tie back for the curtains would be helpful, as this would allow more light into the room, especially on the window closest to the door. We did enjoy our time there, though, and would certainly stay again."

Magical. Enchanting. Serene. Through the years, locals have heard the many words tourists have found to describe the Chama Valley. Nestled between the Rocky Mountains, across the street from the historic Cumbres & Toltec Railroad, sitting right downtown, and within walking distance from the Valley’s oldest standing commercial building, Foster’s, which has been around since 1881, sits a two-bedroom apartment rich with its own history, awaiting your arrival. Whether you’re wanting to ride the train, immerse yourself in nature, or enjoy a cup of coffee in a small, local cafe, you really can have it all when you stay on the Other Side of the Tracks. Our recently remodeled apartment features views of the train, plenty of parking space, and free Wi-Fi. Conveniently located in the heart of town, the opportunities for your getaway are endless. Mountains, rivers, wildlife, and more surround us here! We are so grateful you have decided to visit Chama, and we can’t wait to hear the words you find to describe your stay with us.

- "If you get grossed out easily like me, then this is your place to stay. SUPER clean—from the shower to the kitchen sink, the owners definitely take care of the property. They have everything you could ever need and you can tell they put a lot of thought into every detail. The ONLY things that would make it even better are: -a longer hose that reaches the fire pit -floodlights in back (cause all we could think about were bears) 😂 We will never use another company when booking in Chama now. Thank you for hosting us!!!"

- "Very Easy to book. Clean, interesting, has the Chama flavor. There is so much to enjoy in Chama and the house adds to the experience." - "The home is as nice as it looks in the photos. It is in a quiet neighborhood in a very small town. Nice and close to our destination of the Cumbres Toltec Railroad. Would recommend without hesitation. " - "We were just two fishing buddies looking for a convenient place to operate out of for several days of fishing in northern MN and southern CO. We were surprised to discover we had the WHOLE inn to ourselves! PLENTY of room; we could easily have had several more people with us. It was roomy, rustic, and very comfortable; more than we were looking for and we suspect we'll be back next season. Would recommend in a heartbeat."

- "We absolutely loved this home that had something for everyone. Our kids fished, played pool, and ping pong. When the day was over, the comfortable beds were waiting for us. The property manager was helpful and responded quickly to all of my questions. Overall a really great experience. " - "The pictures make this place, both the house and grounds, look WAY nicer than they are. We severely overpaid for this place. Do not do the same. The deck is dry rotting and in bad shape as is much of the exterior wood. The couch in the house is covered in stains. We pulled the handle to the freezer and it was just sitting on the mounts. Came off in my hand. There is a hole cut in the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom. Probably the worst part was the grounds. Nothing was mowed and the whole area was covered in knee high grass. I get it if you don’t mow the whole thing but at least mow at the bottom of the stairs, around the fire pit and maybe a trail down to the river. Also, the place is very close to town and we had strangers walking across the property on several occasions. Just not a place that I would recommend staying. "
