You are welcome to feed the Alpacas, learn about their history and in early summer you might even see a cria (baby Alpaca) or you can walk to he top of the hill and watch the chickens.

There is lots of wildlife in the Valley and you might occasionally see a Bear, coyote, Deer, Fox or even an Elk on the property.

We are located half way between Taos and Taos Ski Valley. About a 10 min drive in either direction.

David Clancy sculpted the incredible kiva and colored it with the perfect hue to offset it on the adobe-colored plaster that adorns all the walls. Natural wood cabinets shaped and built by David, knotty pine doors and tongue and groove ceilings wrap their warmth around you as you sit in this spiritual space and gaze out the Southern windows at the canyon, the Southwestern windows at the valley below and amazing sun sets or the mountains from the Eastern patio. Our casita is private and you have the entire patio and hot tub for your use only.

The original design of this casita boasts a HUGE patio on the Southern side, a serpentine-paved patio edged with decorative block piers with lighting insets. The Southwestern side hosts a large patio which can be accessed out the bedroom door. A 6-person hot tub and grand, outdoor fireplace await your arrival on this side and you can sit in the hot tub and marvel at the valley and canyon views, watch the sun rise and set, or count the shooting stars at night.

We highly recommend Travel Insurance-we don't travel without it. #HO-25-2018-Permit number. Also of note-Winter 2025 we had little moisture. As a result, we often have red flag warnings as it is extremely dry-high fire danger. If the weather conditions are dry during your stay, indoor and outdoor fires will not be allowed. However, if we get sufficient moisture before and during your stay… They may be possible. Since we can’t predict the weather, this changes day to day.

The Green Room is small and cozy, very private, quiet, clean and comfortable. The kitchen and living space are all situated off of the same entryway that also has laundry facilities. There is a TV with Dish and internet service. There is plenty of room for clothes and other travel paraphernalia. Your private bathroom with tub is right in the suite. There is a mini-fridge and microwave in the room. Remember to come prepared for hot tubbing, located conveniently outside of the room!

The space
The Green room is situated off of the mudroom/entryway. The hot tub and small yard are just outside of the living area. If you desire to use the kitchen, talk to me about it prior to booking. Generally, the kitchen is not available, but there is an Instapot and a crockpot that guests are welcome to use, and there is a hot water pot in the room.

Convenient access from your parking spot, no need to walk through the house. The hot tub and yard with outside sitting area is just off the kitchen-living area. There are shade trees and beyond is a nice walk to the ridge with amazing views to the mountains in all directions.

I am usually a text away. I let my guests drive interaction. I try to engage only enough to be helpful, but I do sometimes get drawn into longer conversations.

The Hacienda del Sol is a Historic Bed and Breakfast built in 1804.

The Hacienda was Mabel Dodge Lujan and Tony Lujan's first home together in Taos.

Guests that have stayed at our Inn included Georgia O'Keefe, Ansel Adams, Willa Cather, DH Lawrence, etc.

We have two big beautiful lawns in the back of our Inn with clear sunset views of Taos Mountain.

The space
La Vista is located on the bottom floor and has french doors that open up to our beautiful lawn and views of Taos Mountain. A pair of new Brown Jordan chairs are situated outside your patio to enjoy the view.

As you enter La Vista through its front door, there is a brand new King Bed, Candlelit Kiva fireplace for ambiance, Radiant heat in the floors, Keurig, Tea, Mini Refrigerator and Saltillo tile throughout.

The bathroom has a Tub / Shower combo. The Shower was hand tiled by R.C. Gorman himself. We also have a 6 person commercial Hot-tub on the property.

Our Gourmet Breakfast is complimentary from 8-9:30 and is located in the First building as you enter the Driveway and includes; Local Apothecary Coffee, Zumex fresh squeezed OJ, homemade Quiches, Proscuitto egg cups, Scrambled Eggs, Tamales, Potato Gratin, Chobani Yogurts, Fresh Assorted Pastries, Assorted Breads, Fruits, Avocados, Cereals and more!

We are 1 mile from the center of Taos, in a quiet and beautiful historical neighborhood called El Prado. In the old days, El Prado, situated adjacent to the Taos Pueblo, was focused on trading with the Pueblo, and was populated by trading posts, churches, stables, saloons, shops and stately Spanish Haciendas. Guadalajara Grill is across the street, and The Love Apple shares our driveway. This is a peaceful, historic area of Taos with the best views of Taos Mtn situated next to the Taos Pueblo (85,000 acres). Arroyo Seco (enchanting small town with food, art and shopping) is 15 minute drive away from town. Taos Ski Valley is about 20 mins drive beyond Arroyo Seco. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is 15 minute drive. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs about 30 minutes pats the Rio Grande Bridge. Santa Fe is about 1:45 drive. Lots to do and see in the area!

We look forward to welcoming you to our Taos guesthouse. You will have full use of the guesthouse and can expect privacy as the guesthouse has plenty of space around it and a private & walled patio. So even when we are in the main house, you have your own private space to enjoy. We have a lovely herd of mountain sheep in the large pasture so we ask that our guests do not enter the pasture. We hope you will enjoy the rural setting and visiting with the sheep! If we are on property, our exuberant dogs, DiVinci and Beau, will be in the yards adjacent to the main house. They do like to bark in greeting so please be prepared for that. We do try to keep them in the front yard & house to minimize their greetings!

Our guesthouse is attached to a larger building we use as a shop and storage. There is a shared hallway between shop and guesthouse. While the guesthouse is not an individual building it does offer privacy and quiet. We do our best to respect your privacy while you are there. Pur home is usually undergoing some project and we also store construction equipment and materials at our property. We have a herd of sheep on our property and may have other farm animals- like chickens on property. Lastly, when we are on property our Anatolian Sheppard, DiVinci, and our golden, Beau are usually with us. They are very exuberant and will greet you with lots of barks. They have free roam of the fenced pasture with the sheep, but we do try to keep them in the front yard and house to minimize their exuberant greetings!

The space
You'll enjoy a beautiful, comfortable, and private space with its own entrance and en suite bath. It is separate from the main house, making it a private get-away. Constructed of recently plastered, true adobe with brick floors, and latilla ceilings, you will feel transported back to Old Taos. Decorated in a rustic yet luxurious style, with an eye to detail, you will find original art work including historic photographs, a small library with local publications, maps and guides, fine wool rugs, lots of pillows, plus snuggly flannel sheets in cooler weather. You will also find oversized towels and two cozy terry robes for the hot tub. There is a large 41" flat screen TV/Roku. Your Guest Suite is like a lovely "hotel room" so please be aware, it is NOT set up for more than making coffee, microwave heating, mini fridge.
