The space
La Vista is located on the bottom floor and has french doors that open up to our beautiful lawn and views of Taos Mountain. A pair of new Brown Jordan chairs are situated outside your patio to enjoy the view.

As you enter La Vista through its front door, there is a brand new King Bed, Candlelit Kiva fireplace for ambiance, Radiant heat in the floors, Keurig, Tea, Mini Refrigerator and Saltillo tile throughout.

The bathroom has a Tub / Shower combo. The Shower was hand tiled by R.C. Gorman himself. We also have a 6 person commercial Hot-tub on the property.

Our Gourmet Breakfast is complimentary from 8-9:30 and is located in the First building as you enter the Driveway and includes; Local Apothecary Coffee, Zumex fresh squeezed OJ, homemade Quiches, Proscuitto egg cups, Scrambled Eggs, Tamales, Potato Gratin, Chobani Yogurts, Fresh Assorted Pastries, Assorted Breads, Fruits, Avocados, Cereals and more!

We are 1 mile from the center of Taos, in a quiet and beautiful historical neighborhood called El Prado. In the old days, El Prado, situated adjacent to the Taos Pueblo, was focused on trading with the Pueblo, and was populated by trading posts, churches, stables, saloons, shops and stately Spanish Haciendas. Guadalajara Grill is across the street, and The Love Apple shares our driveway. This is a peaceful, historic area of Taos with the best views of Taos Mtn situated next to the Taos Pueblo (85,000 acres). Arroyo Seco (enchanting small town with food, art and shopping) is 15 minute drive away from town. Taos Ski Valley is about 20 mins drive beyond Arroyo Seco. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is 15 minute drive. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs about 30 minutes pats the Rio Grande Bridge. Santa Fe is about 1:45 drive. Lots to do and see in the area!

Pets are welcome.
Please let us know you are brining a pet when you book your stay. We love pets but ask that pets not be left unattended in the Casita unless they are kept in a crate. If crating your pet is not an option, we may need to ask for a refundable pet deposit. We also ask that you do not let your pets up in the furniture. There is a grill & dining table on patio for your use. You can also access a fenced pasture adjacent to the patio.

Guest access
We look forward to welcoming you to our Taos guesthouse. You will have full use of the guesthouse and can expect privacy as the guesthouse has plenty of space around it and a private & walled patio. So even when we are in the main house, you have your own private space to enjoy. We have a lovely herd of mountain sheep in the large pasture so we ask that our guests do not enter the pasture. We hope you will enjoy the rural setting and visiting with the sheep! If we are on property, our exuberant dogs, DiVinci and Beau, will be in the yards adjacent to the main house. They do like to bark in greeting so please be prepared for that. We do try to keep them in the front yard & house to minimize their greetings!

Other things to note
Our guesthouse is attached to a larger building we use as a shop and storage. There is a shared hallway between shop and guesthouse. While the guesthouse is not an individual building it does offer privacy and quiet. We do our best to respect your privacy while you are there. Pur home is usually undergoing some project and we also store construction equipment and materials at our property. We have a herd of sheep on our property and may have other farm animals- like chickens on property. Lastly, when we are on property our Anatolian Sheppard, DiVinci, and our golden, Beau are usually with us. They are very exuberant and will greet you with lots of barks. They have free roam of the fenced pasture with the sheep, but we do try to keep them in the front yard and house to minimize their exuberant greetings!

The casita is 11 miles north of Taos and west of Taos Ski Valley, 6 miles northwest of Arroyo Seco. It is surrounded by pinon, ponderosa & juniper 1.8 miles up a community dirt road in Valdez. AWD or 4WD is a must in winter. It is cozy and quiet and offers a great place for rest, adventure or creativity. Forest service roads and trails within walking distance. Since there are no city lights, the patio with chiminea offers the perfect spot for watching the night sky. Pet friendly fenced area

Although the casita is 450' square feet there are 3 rooms, patio and fenced in yard for pets. Full kitchen with washer/dryer, no bathtub, tile shower and dining and hangout area is also bedroom area with king-size bed. This is a quiet neighborhood with few homes and lots of forest.

If you do travel with a pet, he/she will have access from the patio to a fenced in 35'X40' yard. It is not grass but New Mexico dirt and rock and pine needles, there fore it has shade.
Also when using the chiminea on patio keep the fire small as the forest is dry and we don't want embers flying about..

This is a completely separate guest house unit on our expansive property. We respect your space and your privacy during your stay.

Our narrow-gauge Chile Line Boxcar hauled Cowboys and Indians, sheep and cattle in the Rio Grande Gorge long ago. Now remodeled, it is loaded with charm, from hand-crafted touches to antique furnishings. Guests frequently exclaim, “Wow!” when entering. They call it “very comfortable and cozy” from slipper tub to bed, with grand views across sweeping pastureland and the Taos mountains. We offer a quiet location just 3 miles from Taos Plaza, 6 miles from the Pueblo, 22 miles from the Ski Valley.

The space
From the property there are views of hundreds of acres of pastureland and the Taos Mountains beyond. Bring your camera. Situated on a quiet dead-end road it is hard to believe we are actually only three miles from town.

This historic boxcar-casita is nestled next to an ever-changing organic garden, and is perfectly located for those seeking sports & adventure, historic sightseeing, budget small family lodging, a romantic getaway, or a quiet retreat. It is great for quiet celebrations, but it is not a party house!

For the weary traveler the almost queen-sized bed is nestled across the garden-end of the box car. Guests have called it "most comfortable", and "the best sleep I have had in ages". Additionally the sofa is easily made up to accommodate a third guest in the living room/library. A walk-in closet provides ample storage for short stays.

The big flat screen TV (with local channels, Netflix, Amazon Prime & a DVD player) and Bose surround sound can be luxuriously viewed from bed, the comfortable "living room" chairs, and the dining nook. More entertainment choices include a radio/tape/CD player, cards, scrabble and a few other games, the library and wifi internet. The internet speed consistently maintains over 50.0 Mbps The boxcar has been photovoltaic-powered for the last 15 years.

The compact kitchenette includes china, flatware, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, a small two-burner electric stove, small fridge, and sink, and little appliances such as toaster oven, microwave, coffee grinder, coffe maker, blender and tea kettle. We offer complimentary organic tea and coffee, 1/2&1/2, home-made granola and basic condiments. Next to the kitchenette is the dining nook with pastoral views.

The luxurious claw-foot 'slipper tub' is the main feature of the bathroom annex, and invites leisurely baths or hand-held showers while viewing hundreds of acres of agricultural land, seasonally resplendent with coyotes, rabbits, soaring hawks, and nesting magpies. The bathroom also features a low-flow toilet and sink, bathrobes, organic soaps, shampoo, bubble-bath and more.

Sorry, we do not have wheel chair access and our patio flagstones are uneven due to freezing and thawing shifts beneath.

Special note to tall people- our 19th Century boxcar has less than six foot clearances through doorways and some ceilings, so please be flexible, literally!

Wildrose is a cozy second floor micro-queen room with thick adobe walls, kiva fireplace, high ceiling, and view of the historic La Loma Plaza. This small room features a custom mural and is painted in subtle pinks, accented with willow stick shutters and matching headboard. The vanity adjoins the bedroom with two steps leading up to the Mexican tiled bath with tub/shower. Pets are not allowed in this room.

Welcome to Room 4!

This is one of our 4 cozy queen single rooms. Room 4 is upstairs on the West facing side of the property. Along with a comfortable queen bed, room 4 has 2 cozy chairs, and a side table to hold your drinks or food while you watch TV. There is also a dresser with plenty of storage that also holds the 43" smart TV and a nice sized bathroom with a stand up shower and all the essentials. Since room 4 is a corner room, there are 2 windows - both with beautiful views. There is also a comfortable outdoor rocker that makes a great place to start a good book. The room is also equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee pods, creamer, and sweetener.

Our lodge is within walking distance to town (approximately 1 mile to the Lift House). If you prefer a ride, Miner's Transit is a free shuttle service that runs daily from 7:30 - 5pm. They will pick you up at the Lodge and take you wherever you want to go in Red River. We have parking in our main lot that is off Prospector Trail for rooms 4-12 and parking in front on Main St. for rooms 1-3. Parking is tight during full occupancy, please park as close to other vehicles as possible. Parking is also allowed along Prospector Trail if needed.

At Taos Lodging we offer you 8 sweet and unique casitas set on a shady and secluded acre on quiet Brooks Street.

Hollyhock aka Casita #4 has a traditional Taos floor plan ideal for children. The bedroom with a queen bed is a pass-through to a back bedroom with twin beds. You can easily access our shared hot tub and the grassy area with its picnic table and horseshoe pitch. Sleeps 6 - 900 sq. ft.

Built in the 1940’s by the Garcia family as a family compound, our casitas offer you loads of “Old Taos Charm” with some modern conveniences. Delight in the traditional adobe architecture of your casita with the modern amenities of home – high speed internet, flat screen TVs, your very own kitchen and bath, comfortable beds and better quality linens, wood and tile floors, ceiling fans, ample off street parking, a living/dining area, and a private covered porch. After a day spent exploring Taos, unwind and soak your weary bones in our outdoor hot tub. If you feel like cooking outdoors, we offer you a place to grill; if relaxing is your goal, settle into a hammock; if you are a bit more active – how about a game of horse-shoes, badminton or croquet? At Taos Lodging we work hard to make our little compound with its flowers, lawns, and shady nooks a place that you will want to call your home away from home.

The hot tub is open from 6am until 10pm at night. To respect our neighbors, please maintain a conversational level between 8:00 and 10:00pm.

PETS: We love pets and welcome well-behaved dogs and cats at Taos Lodging. Dogs must be crated when left alone in your Casita. Excessive barking disturbs other guests, so if your dog is highly expressive, please do not leave him or her alone, even if crated. Also, dogs must be leashed or otherwise supervised at all times on the property. There is a one-time $75 pet fee for the first, and $25 per additional animal, with a maximum of two.

For those of you bringing pets, we leave a basket with old sheets, towels and a water bowl to use during your stay. Pets are never allowed on the furniture and if we find pet hair on the furniture, you may be subject to a fine of up to $500.

Casita Atomica is a 1000 sq. ft. contemporary casita perched on the mesa overlooking the 16th hole of the Taos Country Club with views of the Sangre de Cristos and Picuris Mountains. The casita sits on 3 acres of rolling sage independent and very private from the main house.

The open concept architecture features 12 ft. ceilings, a fully appointed kitchen with butcher block counters with stone backsplash. The bathroom has a walk-in marble shower and custom built vanity.

Please note: Casita Atomica is not appropriate for children. Our property is not fenced in. The Casita does not include standard safety features for children. Some of the custom furniture has several sharp edges.

The Old Taos Guesthouse is a 200 year old adobe hacienda that has been lovingly restored to create a beautiful boutique bed and breakfast. The house, while completely its own space, is on a property next to another house so the driveway/parking is shared. As for the lodging itself, it is a completely renovated build just finished this year. Conveniently located less than fifteen minutes either way to town and the ski valley, the guest house is a perfect place to relax in peace and quiet. Some of the neighbors do have dogs that while friendly we just ask you keep outside the house.

Welcome to Room 9!

This is one of our 8 beautiful kitchenette suites that sleep up to 6 people. Room 9 is upstairs on the West facing side of the property on Prospector Trail. Room 9 is our largest kitchenette room and the only one that has 2 queen size beds. The entry offers a large living area with a sleeper sofa, arm chair with ottoman, and coffee table. The 43" smart TV sits on a cubby shelf with 4 bins to store clothing or other items. The bathroom is roomy with a full tub and removable shower sprayer. The kitchenette is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare and enjoy a home cooked meal. There is also a coffee maker complete with coffee pods, sweetener, and creamer, a full size refrigerator, microwave, and toaster.
The best part about room 9 may just be the view from the front balcony. Sit on the comfortable bar stools outside of your room and enjoy the gorgeous scenery.

Your retreat has a keypad front entry, making coming and going a breeze. On or before the day of your arrival, you'll receive a message with your entry code. This same code will also open the door to the laundry room.

Other things to note
AWD: This property is located at the top of a small hill with a gravel drive. Once every few years it snows hard enough to make AWD necessary. Rarely though, is it needed. And we do our best to keep the driveway shoveled so that you can have easy access even in the snow.

Package Delivery: If you'd like to have a package delivered during your stay, please reach out to me. I would be happy to share our shipping address, since not all delivery services deliver to our physical address.

We encourage our guests to relax in our large courtyard and enjoy the fountain, birds and other wildlife. Cozy chairs, warm blankets for the evening and a large wood swing are provided for your enjoyment. We also have a large gas and char grill for you cooking pleasure. There is also a private yard and sitting area for our guests which overlooks Taos Valley and the mountains. Our small herd of Miniature horses are just across the fence and will most likely greet you each morning.
