The Hacienda was Mabel Dodge Lujan and Tony Lujan's first home together in Taos.

The space
La Vista is located on the bottom floor and has french doors that open up to our beautiful lawn and views of Taos Mountain. A pair of new Brown Jordan chairs are situated outside your patio to enjoy the view.

As you enter La Vista through its front door, there is a brand new King Bed, Candlelit Kiva fireplace for ambiance, Radiant heat in the floors, Keurig, Tea, Mini Refrigerator and Saltillo tile throughout.

The bathroom has a Tub / Shower combo. The Shower was hand tiled by R.C. Gorman himself. We also have a 6 person commercial Hot-tub on the property.

Our Gourmet Breakfast is complimentary from 8-9:30 and is located in the First building as you enter the Driveway and includes; Local Apothecary Coffee, Zumex fresh squeezed OJ, homemade Quiches, Proscuitto egg cups, Scrambled Eggs, Tamales, Potato Gratin, Chobani Yogurts, Fresh Assorted Pastries, Assorted Breads, Fruits, Avocados, Cereals and more!

Other things to note
We are 1 mile from the center of Taos, in a quiet and beautiful historical neighborhood called El Prado. In the old days, El Prado, situated adjacent to the Taos Pueblo, was focused on trading with the Pueblo, and was populated by trading posts, churches, stables, saloons, shops and stately Spanish Haciendas. Guadalajara Grill is across the street, and The Love Apple shares our driveway. This is a peaceful, historic area of Taos with the best views of Taos Mtn situated next to the Taos Pueblo (85,000 acres). Arroyo Seco (enchanting small town with food, art and shopping) is 15 minute drive away from town. Taos Ski Valley is about 20 mins drive beyond Arroyo Seco. Rio Grande Gorge Bridge is 15 minute drive. Ojo Caliente Hot Springs about 30 minutes pats the Rio Grande Bridge. Santa Fe is about 1:45 drive. Lots to do and see in the area!

This unique guesthouse has a full wall of windows and glass French doors that face an expansive outdoor patio and provide wonderful light and outdoor living for your stay. Pets are welcome.
Please let us know you are brining a pet when you book your stay. We love pets but ask that pets not be left unattended in the Casita unless they are kept in a crate. If crating your pet is not an option, we may need to ask for a refundable pet deposit. We also ask that you do not let your pets up in the furniture. There is a grill & dining table on patio for your use. You can also access a fenced pasture adjacent to the patio.

Guest access
We look forward to welcoming you to our Taos guesthouse. You will have full use of the guesthouse and can expect privacy as the guesthouse has plenty of space around it and a private & walled patio. So even when we are in the main house, you have your own private space to enjoy. We have a lovely herd of mountain sheep in the large pasture so we ask that our guests do not enter the pasture. We hope you will enjoy the rural setting and visiting with the sheep! If we are on property, our exuberant dogs, DiVinci and Beau, will be in the yards adjacent to the main house. They do like to bark in greeting so please be prepared for that. We do try to keep them in the front yard & house to minimize their greetings!

Other things to note
Our guesthouse is attached to a larger building we use as a shop and storage. There is a shared hallway between shop and guesthouse. While the guesthouse is not an individual building it does offer privacy and quiet. We do our best to respect your privacy while you are there. Pur home is usually undergoing some project and we also store construction equipment and materials at our property. We have a herd of sheep on our property and may have other farm animals- like chickens on property. Lastly, when we are on property our Anatolian Sheppard, DiVinci, and our golden, Beau are usually with us. They are very exuberant and will greet you with lots of barks. They have free roam of the fenced pasture with the sheep, but we do try to keep them in the front yard and house to minimize their exuberant greetings!

Casita shares 1.5 acres with a main house where owners live full time with 2 friendly dogs. Owners are two young working professionals who are available should you need any assistance during your stay. Our lab and husky do wander the property at times during the day so renters will need to be comfortable with dogs.
Two private parking spaces provided. Casita has its own patio with great views of the ski valley and wheeler peak.
The Rift Valley Trails are available at the end of the street for endless hiking, running, and biking. Enjoy views of the river gorge or venture down the canyon and take a walk along the river.
