Off-Grid solar electric power serves the property. Main house is an earthship built in 2000. The guest house is constructed of natural materials inside and out. Large windows bring warm sun inside. If you have further interest the owners are available for questions.

Wifi is available. Streaming is possible on your computer or ipad but there is no TV.

We do not accept guest pets in a booking. However,there are 2 friendly dogs on the property which are kept indoors until 10 am, placed in a corral nearby and brought inside around 6 pm. Due to the multiple wildlife that appears on the property, from deer and wild turkeys, there is sometimes barking during the day.

We are 8 minutes to Bayfield or Ignacio. 10 minutes to the airport. 20 minutes to Durango. 30 minutes to Vallecito Lake. 50 minutes to Pagosa Springs.

We have lots of critters – Dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, geese, alpacas, frogs, foxes, bugs & sometimes mice. We can have dust and even have some mud! While we try to keep everything in check, please be prepared!

We love dogs! Unfortunately – NO pets allowed. We have working dogs whose job it is to protect their family and property.
(We also have family members that are allergic to dogs use this space frequently.)

Absolutely NO SMOKING anywhere on the property. EVER. We are in a high drought area with an extreme fire potential.

We will be out and about caring for the animals and property. We do not start at the crack of dawn, but you may hear us around.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking & has a bar table to eat at.

This unit is downstairs to a 4 bedroom house. The space is completely separate, unit A cannot access unit B, and vice-versa.

Well behaved dogs are accepted, but cats are not allowed.

The laundry room is not in the unit, but the entrance is just a few feet from your front door.

Please take consideration before booking that the yard is not fully fenced in. The upper part of the yard is private property. Please only utilize the lower yard.

The unit above runs on a steam heating system. When it is running steam through the pipes, and because the house is historic, you are able to hear a knocking noise above the bedroom (just in the winter months). You can also hear walking (and music if being played) from above when the tenants are home so we strictly enforce quiet time from 10:00pm-8:00am. We have included a white noise machine in the bedroom to help people that are sensitive to noise when sleeping.

Our primary residence is located on the same property as this guest house so we are typically nearby (after work/on weekends) if immediate assistance is needed. It is gravel/dirt driveway that is shared with us.

The guest house is located separate from our primary residence, it is the narrow building behind the main house. The only entrance to the guest house is a white metal screen door that leads into an entryway before entering the main door.

If we have back-to-back bookings on a weekday we will ask that you do not check in until 5:00 pm or later. We work full time jobs, so this allows us to clean the apartment and change linens before you arrive. If this is the case, we will let you know when booking.

During the summer months, typically opening all the windows at night and closing them during the day allows for sufficient cooling of the space. Even if temperatures rise to 85-90, evening temps cool down to the 40-50’s, so this method is typically efficient. For those very hot days, there is an AC unit available to help cool the suite.

There is a gas log fireplace for warming the area on those very chilly days/nights.
